Hi I am a real real newbie, these are my questions
1. When press certain button to boot ace will it go to mode that enable to flash zip file? I suppose no right? Because usually that enable it is clockworkmod
2. So how to enable clockworkmod in ace? I read from this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1168417 it is saying to flash zip file that enable latest clockworkmod but however the phone itself does not enable to flash zip file or anything in the first place, so how to do it?
I am on the original firmware, so please guide me.
1 - yes, hold home+power on boot.
2 - if u on froyo, read this, and if u on gingerbread, u already found its cwm thread

no you dont need of ADB ,
1) Turn off your phone
2)Reboot on recovery.
by Pressing power button and home button until you see "SAMSUNG" Text.
3)click on apply sdcard:update.zip and select the file named "ClockWorkModAce.zip"
5. it will install within few seconds....
"reboot system now".
Then turn off your phone again and enter recovery AGAIN.
as simple as that
Download - ClockWorkModAce.zip
And if you also want to install Cyanogen MOD 7.1 view my tutorial
[Tutorial] How to flash recovery mode & install Cyanogen 7.1 on Ace
I think, if u use stock recovery u have to rename CWM to update.zip I think, stock recovery dont have option to choose zip file to instal only search for update.zip I think that;p Sorry, if I'm wrong

hi im having trouble getting CWM to work on my Rogers (GT-P7500R) WIFI+4G to accept CWM, I have trying to flash it and it sends my galaxy tab into a boot crash...I had to to restore it to stock kernel with ODIN 1.85 which worked fine, but still on the stupid default recovery (I HATE IT). as soon as I try and flash it with the CWM it simply turns off the tablet and then when I power on again, it shows the samsung galaxy tab logo for a second and then turns off again, then i use odin to flash stock and it works normal again, no data lost at all...any help plz, cause without CWM im pretty sure i cannot do other stuff like custom rom, kernels, overclocking...HELP!!!!!!!!!! im pretty sure this has a signed only bootloader right?? thats why i need something other then 3e recovery to be able to flash stuff
FIXED!!!!
so see below
Good work
Keep us posted! I pick mine up tonight and will be following your foot steps haha thanks for the info so far.
Hi,
so here is how to get clockworkmod on the samsung galaxy tab 10.1 (GT-P7500R)...I looked around XDA for hours before finding some useful info...here it is:
Step 1
download these files:
http://www.4shared.com/file/KbSJhFtI/recovery-cwm_4004-sam-tab-101t.html
and
http://www.4shared.com/rar/74D8ERjO/Odin_v185.html
Step 2
extract the odin zip file and run odin, by right clicking first and say run as administrator...reboot the phone into download mode (ask me if u do not know how , there will be a warning and then a screen with some text in the upper left, connect you device to the usb, and back in odin select the bootloader check box and click browse to the right and select the other recovery-cwm file u downloaded and click start, it should take a short time and you will see a progress bar on the screen...viola, you will have clockworkmod
OPTIONAL: if you want to root it at this time, just follow below:
Download this file:
http://www.4shared.com/zip/cVgtnw_t/Galaxy_root.html
Step 3
put the file in root of the device and reboot into recovery mode (ask me if u do not know how and select update from zip and select the file, then its done and done.
OPTIONAL: if you want to put a custom kernal on, so that you can overclock it to 1.4 ghz, like I have then follow below...it worked and works fine for me
Download this file:
http://www.4shared.com/zip/vWdGcQcr/boot-cm_26364_p4_ux_hc32-oc-xt.html
and follow from step 3 again.
PS: I also have a stock kernal for the rogers edition of the galaxy tab if needed, if u mess it up in the future
Overcome has a good working version of cwm and custom rom that install easily on the Rogers Tab -- the OC kernel by Pershoot works fine. The custom rom by Genbarou also installs well.
Im also on XDA on my tab too...

I was able to load the CWM Recovery onto my Rogers 4G Tab, however I flashed with the files from here initially:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1171089
using the 4G Recovery and Kernel files. This created nothing but boot loop. I was then able to use the CWM file from this post and get CWM to boot however that is all I can do at this time.
I cannot get the device to connect to PC for usb storage (to potentially load a bootable rom) while in CWM as it says "unable to open ums lunefile (no such file or directory).
I believe the kernel.zip file from the other post has messed up my device. Does anyone have a Stock Rogers Kernel, or custom that is flashable via ODIN so I can at least get back to Android OS and load a Rom via USB?
Also can someone repost the Galaxy_root.zip file. I cant download from 4shared. Keeps timing out to file not found. THANKs

I dont know if this will help but you need to know that its not a 4G, its actually 3G+ so if you want to root, dont use the 4G method
I installed the cwm without any problem by following this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1171089
and by following this :
RETAIL 3G
[GTP7500]
1. Download this Root.zip file to your tablet and move it to root directory of tablet storage. (you can also download on comp. then transfer to tablet)
2. Reboot tab and go into recovery mode and apply the root.zip you just downloaded.
3. Then reboot
rooted already
For CWM
1. After rooting download and install Rom Manager from market.
2. open Rom Manager app and have it install clockwork Mod to your device, you should see your device listed within Rom manager.
3. Done.
I was unable to even get the device to recognize by PC. I could not load any zip files. Luckily I found a P7105 fille ODIN file that I was able to load. however it is a WIFI ONLY version I have. However it has enabled me to boot back to android and load files via usb. I am going to try OVERCOME 10.1 and hope that applies the necessary root as well as 3G access.
will report back

Can confirm. Installing CWM then flashing Overcome FULL did wonders. Back up and running. 3.2 android and 3G+ service active.
WAAAHHOOOO! XDA to the rescue!
Some rom?
Hello, thanks for the tutorial, I'm from Venezuela and I have a 7500R if anyone needs Spanish translation let me know. Will you have some rom recommended for a 7500R
Sorry for my English.
I want to confirm that rooting method post here work great.
(This is the only part you need)

2. Reboot tab and go into recovery mode and apply the root.zip you just downloaded.
3. Then reboot
Note 1: The downloaded file is not named Root.zip. You can of course rename it yourself.
Note 2: To enter recovery mode, after you use vol- to highlight the recovery icon, power button didn't seem to work in selecting it. But you just wait for a min, it'll work.
Note 3: It only takes seconds to load and run the Root.zip. Then you are good to reboot, and it's done.

Hi forum
I just purchase a Galaxy Tab 10.1 16GB No SD card version that comes preinstalled with Android 3.1 and it feels sluggish in use to put it midly.
Now I purchased the unit as an upgrade for my Galaxy Tab 7" which already runs the excellent Overcome Rom. I remember rooting and installing was extremely simple and easy but it has been a long while since I've done any such thing.
I'm looking for a complete guide to install the newest Overcome Rom for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and unfortunately the guide on the Overcome site is currently down for maintenance and I'm not allowed to post in the Overcome thread here on the site. I need help rooting the unit as well as I figure it's required to install the rom.
I'll appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance.
Root using the guide in the dev section.
Once rooted, move the ROM to your root folder (sdcard/ )
Hold down power + Vol down, release power at the splash (still holding VD).
select recovery
select to install from zip
reboot after flashing

No need to root first. Also, you need CWM recovery before you can install the zip.
So, what you really need to do is:
1) Use Odin to flash CWM recovery (to get to download mode, hold power + vol down until you see a screen with two pictures - right one is download, left one is recovery. You select one by pressing vol up)
2) Plug the Tab into your PC or use a sharing program to copy the Overcome zip file to /sdcard/ of your device (it's the root directory if you open it up on windows, where folders like "Movies", "Downloads", "Pictures" etc. are).
3) Go to recovery, wipe data to insure a clean install, then proceed to flash the .zip
4) Give it a few minutes for first boot
Also, you might want to take a backup before you flash Overcomes .zip, just to be safe and if you ever want to go back to your original stock
All needed files can be found in the thread.
PS: Also, Overcome comes prerooted, so after flashing you'll have root. Make sure to run Superuser once before you try to give root to anything though.
Thank you so much both of you for the quick and informative answers.
Nightmarebadger.
Can you briefly explain how I flash with Odin correctly?
Do I only need the file called 002002-Overcome_CWM_Recovery_v5.1.2.6.zip, when flashing or to I need to include other files as well?
wouldnt you need to change the kernal too?
Follow the guide in the dev section I referenced.... after you have CWR (or overstocks) you can then flash the ROM.
Doesn't flashing a modded firmware with odin effect your flashcounter

Now I'm not 100% on this because it's been a while since I flashed CWM on my Tab so you might want to look up some guides or wait for someone else to explain it step by step.
First of all if you want to flash via Odin you need the .tar file, not the .zip one. You might even be able to flash the .zip with the stock recovery, but I wouldn't know (I didn't try it that way and the guide I was using said to use Odin). Here comes the part that I'm not really sure about - where exactly do you need to put the .tar - [Edit] seems you need to put it under PDA
And even though Overcome comes with their version of CWM recovery, a "normal" one should do the trick also - so you can just follow one of the guides on the net to put that one on your tab. When you flash Overcome ROM it'll also flash their version of CWM anyway.
As for the kernel, Overcome comes with stock kernel - if you want anything extra (OC for instance) you will want to flash pershoots kernel with CWM.
I'm grateful for all the help you guys have been giving.
For future reference how to use Odin is right here :
Flashing a Custom Recovery●►
Go into the same root folder as before.
Double click the root application named "Odin3_v1.85.exe"
Select PDA
Double click the clockworkmod recovery file labeled "recovery-cwm_4.0.0.4-sam-tab-10.1.tar.md5" to select it.
Click Start
Once it is complete, you can close the program
The root folder comes from a root.zip which is located in this thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239185
I give flashing a go. Thanks again for your help

Well....LOL
Total how many time have you used ODIN, for completing your task (Root & CWM)? in how many lines you can explain your steps?
How many PANIC situations have you passed through?
All this headache could have been avoided if you had searched XDA before rooting your Phone with such a prolonged methed. so please dont recomend the same to others...
Esiest and most followed method for rooting and CWM, is CF-Root, only single line instruction:
Pick the appropreat kernel and flash through ODIN....you have Root + CWM now
Yeah, ROM manager isn't exactly compatible for the S2, so it's not advised to use it. Better off with CF-ROOT and CWM kernel.

Yes but i followed an old tutorial which made me to end up in that point. So for people to get out of it my lines would help.
Hello,
Simple way to root and unroot stock kernel without flashing insecure kernel.
Don't worry about custom counter and yellow triangle, with this method they never appear, because we only rooting, it's a rooting script not a custom kernel.
This rooting script included Busybox installer.
Rooting :
Download this File first and put in your SDCARD
- CWM via stock recovery or download zip
- SU-Busybox-Installer.zip
Reboot to recovery.
Choose apply update from external storage.
Choose CWM.zip and wait until CWM recovery appear.
Choose install zip from sdcard or external SD
Choose and Install SU-Busybox-Installer.zip
Reboot
You are done and now your device is Rooted
Unroot :
Download this File first and put in your SDCARD
- CWM via stock recovery or download zip
- SU-Uninstaller-Signed.zip
Reboot to recovery.
Choose apply update from external storage.
Choose CWM.zip and wait until CWM recovery appear.
Choose install zip from sdcard
Choose and Install SU-Uninstaller-Signed.zip
Reboot
You are done and now your device is Unrooted
Tested on latest stock Galaxy S II ICS rom.
Tested on latest Galaxy Note by some user (thanks for report)
Note: This method should work for other device with ICS rom, check CWM that compatible for your device.
You can download all the zip files from this thread. ROOT/UNROOT ZIP Files
If it helps than dont forgot to hit THANKS Button.
Thanks,
I don't think this thread is necessary, since the original one is still active and is being used by other members.
Exactly. Duplication. And if it belongs anywhere it belongs in General, not Q&A
