no you dont need of ADB ,
1) Turn off your phone
2)Reboot on recovery.
by Pressing power button and home button until you see "SAMSUNG" Text.
3)click on apply sdcard:update.zip and select the file named "ClockWorkModAce.zip"
5. it will install within few seconds....
"reboot system now".
Then turn off your phone again and enter recovery AGAIN.
as simple as that
Download - ClockWorkModAce.zip

And if you also want to install Cyanogen MOD 7.1 view my tutorial
[Tutorial] How to flash recovery mode & install Cyanogen 7.1 on Ace

I think, if u use stock recovery u have to rename CWM to update.zip I think, stock recovery dont have option to choose zip file to instal only search for update.zip I think that;p Sorry, if I'm wrong

did you pick vibrant when you flashed clockwork with rom manager ??
In order to get into Clockwork, you have to have Clockwork in your internal memory.
Go into the market and install the app ROM Manager. At the top of ROM Manager, there will be a button that says Flash ClockworkMod Recovery. Press that and select your phone. Once that finishes, press the button under that, that says "Reboot into Recovery".
If it's your first time going into recovery, then it's going to popup with the stock recovery screen. Once you get to the stock recovery screen, select "Reinstall Packages" and select it with the power button. Now, my memory is a little fuzzy, but it should either take you directly back to the recovery screen, or reboot into the recovery screen, but either way, once it goes back to that same screen, select Reinstall packages again, and it should take you to the Clockwork Recovery.
EDIT: Oh, I just remembered this also. If you still have the update.zip in your internal memory, ROM Manager won't overwrite it. You have to plug your phone in to your computer, delete the update.zip, then go back into ROM Manager and reflash ClockworkMod Recovery. Then continue with what I said above.
(The update.zip that's in your memory right now is the update you applied to root your phone, just so you know. It's not required anymore.)

go to recovery and reinstall packages twice ??
that should take you to clockwork recovery
well im going to tell u wht to do from stock ok as its easier for me!
power off phone
pull out battery
GRAB THIS STUFF : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1047087
turn on odin
attach phone to pc with usb cable
now while holding down both volume buttons put battery back in.
now you should be in download mode and go back to stock with odin from here!
make sure u put the proper .pit and .pda file in there proper places on odin and ur set to go.
Enjoy and also make sure u have the proper samsung drivers
then after that go here and downoad the update package:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1047087
u wanna download the eclair method of root update package.
then install that on ur internal sd card and go into recovery it should be blue, now click to reinstall packages u should have to do once or twice usually twice. After that it will trun green.
Then go into rom manager and as he said above flash clockwork recovery click vibrant. After that is done u will have clockwork and root access and able to flash any rom
I started using odin before I ever even properly updated to 2.2.... however I do remember having issues like this on a Captivate that was 2.2, I remember that you for sure have to "reinstall packages" twice after flashing CWM. after that you shouldn't have to do it again.....

i assume since it is rooted that you already have clockwork recovery installed.
hold power and vol down to boot into recovery
select wipe cache/factory restore
select install from zip
select the rom i showed you
reboot!
you must put the rom in the root of your tab first
use androzip to move it there

sorry but still a newbie here and i might get annoying to some peeps here but just very cautious on how this would work. so i'm going to ask question
factory restore - does this mean i'm going a clean up and unrooting my device? from the steps above? is the end product going to have the touchwiz update or is this the touchwiz update with a email sync problem? where does the touchwiz update happen? i didn't see that step above?
lastly.. is there a video i watch to see this in action.
galaxytabhacks.com is a bit slow on updating their video's on how to update a rooted GT 10.1 with touchwiz update...
thank you all for the current post and i'm sure that there are many users here that will appreciate this information.. (for all you do please post and cheer on the peeps that helped us out).

almost confident
ok.. so go to clockwork recovery - i know how with that two options (icons by pressing those buttons)
make a backup - don't know how?
factory reset - i'll read up
install zip from sdcard - done it before
install - if i find it i'll select install
reboot - hopefully
so how does the backup work - any steps.. where can i find that option. thanks again for all these information..
in the main clockword recovery menu select back up and restore ...select backup
these are all in the main menu of cwr... dont worry about the wipe/factory restore just select it and do it.....make sure you put the new rom in the root of your tab first. just like you did with the root.zip when you rooted
put the new rom zip in your tab
boot into cwr
make a back up
do a wipe/factory restore
select install from zip
select choose zip
select the rom zip you downloaded and put in the root of your tab
install
reboot
this is from the first link i gave you
Here is the clockwork mod menu
- Reboot system now (self explanatory )
- Apply update from SDcard. (when you connect your device to your computer it will show up as tablet. The SDcard that cwm refers to is simply your device storage. Always make sure to copy install.zips to the root directory of your tablet storage.) You use this when applying an update for a specific ROM if that is what the ROM developer says.
- Wipe Data/ Factory Reset You should always do this before you install a new ROM or if you are having minor issues with your device.
- Wipe cache partition Think of this as the lite version of whats above . If you do above though it doesn't hurt to do this too.
- Install zip from SDcard Use this to install new ROMs.
- Back up and Restore
- Mounts and Storage use this to connect your device to your computer when in recovery mode. It is also possible to transfer files to your device while in this mode.
- Advanced What you are interested in here is something called dalvik cache, you want to wipe this too before installing any new ROM
- Power off
this is the main menu of clockwork recovery
backupand restore...wipedata/factory reset...install zip reboot are all on this menu

My io tab went into that infinity loop so I flash it by fast boot, but then accidentally rooted it? i guess, as I see the superuser icon.
How do I get it back to stock. I have no backup with it at all....and don't know what is happening.

[Q] ATTN: Hubix; CWM 5 and Flashing

Hi, thanks very much for your guide on flashing and rooting first of all, I just have some quick questions before I go ahead and install and a custom ROM.
1. I'm already on the latest firmware which I got via Kies (Gingerbread, 2.3.3), do I still need to flash a different version via ODIN?
2. I'm looking to install CM7.2-KANG but I can't seem to figure out how to flash CWM5 Custom recovery, it says;
1) Push recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace.img to your device using "adb push recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.3-galaxyace.img /tmp/" command
2) Turn off your phone
3) Press POWER+HOME BUTTON
4) Login to your device over "adb shell"
5) Mount /system using "mount /dev/block/stl12 /system" command
6) Flash CWM recovery using "flash_image recoveryonly /tmp/recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.3-galaxyace.img" command
7) Umount /system using "umount /system" command
8) Reboot your device using "reboot recovery" command to test your new CWM recovery
9) Reboot your device
I know this has to be done through 'command' prompt but I don't even have the galaxyace.img from the zip on your page, I have 'recovery.img' extracted and I tried pushing that to /tmp/ but it says failed to copy due to /tmp/ being a directory.
Also, after flashing CWM5, will I need to unroot to install CM7.2 or will it be fine?
Would gladly appreciate any help and I'll consider donating to your development. Thankyou.

Go in recovery mod home+power button choose apply update from SD card choose the zip you downloaded. after that power off and go again in recovery mod instead of recovery mod now u can see cwm 5. And after cwm5 you don't need to unroot to flash any rom.

I've got CWM5 installed now and it's currently running a backup. Do you know if its possible to move the backup to PC and back again when needed? What is 'sd-ext'? When backing up it said it skipped the back-up of that because it wasn't found.
Thanks for the help, its appreciated. Going to attempt to install CM7.2 now.

You can move the backup to PC, but dont touch the folder structure and naming. Make sure you have a card reader in case something happens to your phone and you cant connect your phone to pc anymore. Else you wont be able to copy back to sdcard before restoring.
sd-ext is a ext(x) partition which allows you to use a2sd or similar solutions for moving apps to SD. Its ok if its skipped, that means you are not using it ;-)
Cheers
Thanks for the help guys, heres a screenshot of my Ace using CM7.2 by J.A.F.
I have one last question to ask before I leave, ROM Manager says 'Flash CWM Recovery', what will this be used for? as far as I know I installed the CWM through stock recovery. Thanks once again and sorry for being so newbish!
LaneyUK don't use Rom Manager on Ace! Lot of peoples had brick his phone by using Rom Manager on Ace. Instal Titanium Backup and uninstall it.
I'm not sure why I have it? I think it may have came with the 'CyanogenMod 7.2 cooper KANG RC0 Android 2.3.7 by J.A.F.' ROM. I installed the ClockWorkMod 5 via the stock recovery so I think ROM Manager is useless in this situation? If it has the potential to still brick my phone then I will remove it.
Yeah plzzz read the stickies and remove manager
sent from my phone and don't forget to hit thanks button if I helped you in any means ......
Could you give me a quick guide on how to remove ROM Manager? I can't uninstall from application menu so I'm guessing its something to do with the root and/or recovery mode.
EDIT: Nevermind, I found the answer. I should look around before posting

All answers are here in the GalaxyS+Wiki. By the way : You can't use RomToolbox or RomManager for installing CWM on the S+. You need a file for Odin or a flashable zip.
thanks all for advice...problem resolved...I installed new firmware 2.3.6..and he work, but i have another problem, when I try install application from market,my samsung before the end of the installation is reset, and so constantly, why????
