[Q] How to return to Stock? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So for some apparent reason my Unlocked Bootloader 16gb wifi Tab keeps losing root. Flashed the touchwiz update in the development forums and i lost root,it happened before to randomly. I figured i would start from scratch. Was a odin file on here which was SUPPOSE to be a factory recovery. It worked set the tab back to 3.0 but with A LOT of force closing issues. Tried doing the update to 3.1 OTA and still the same issues. So any thoughts or advice. The tab has the fastboot bootloader from Mashi and that is about it. Just want to see A) How i can get back up and running & B) How can i stop from losing root.

i realize that touchwiz makes you lose root but I had lost root previously 2-3 times. Based off of that is why i ask how to get back to stock and if anybody has been having issues regarding root.

Galaxytabhacks.com has some new videos to easy root and unroot the gtab.

I panicked last night and didn't read everything properly. the stock image file for ODIN that is out there contains no kernel just the 3.0.0 Rom and everything. After flashing that you have to boot into recovery and factory reset. I had Mashi's fastboot bootloader installed so getting to recovery from VOL + & PWR wasn't an option. I had to then restore the factory bootloader and then get to Recovery to wipe. OTA'd the 3.1 update and i am back to the norm. Root came back to w/o me having to do anything for that matter.

Stock Nandroid Blown Up?

Hi all - the weirdest thing is happening to me and it is definitely something I've done but I haven't the slightest what it is.
I've got CMX right now, and I've tried to go to a couple of ICS ROMs (Task, Sonic). They flash just fine, but on the new system if the screen goes to sleep the video flickers on screen wakeup. I have tried to remedy this by flashing an ICS kernel but haven't had any luck whatsoever. So today I thought I'd go back to my Nandroid backup that I took on CWM 5.0.2.7 way back on the 1st before I rooted my tab. I was on (and prefer) TWRP so I used Odin to re-flash the original recovery, wiped everything (including format /system from the Mounts menu to wipe the ROM) and restored the backup. Everything seemed fine. But to my horror, I locked the screen and woke it up to find the same flickering!!!!
I rebooted back into recovery and flashed TWRP back on so I could restore my CMX backup and I'm back to normal again. But now I feel like I'm stuck here, and the only way I'm going to be able to fix this issue is by using Odin to flash a stock firmware package. I really don't want to have to do that if I don't have to but will if I need to of course...
The one thing I haven't been able to get an answer on is before blowing everything away is what I'm asking now...in thinking about it, I had taken the backup before flashing a bootloader to fix my "rolling recovery screen" issue. Could the cause of this type of problem be a bootloader that the ROM doesn't like, or is this a crazy assumption?
OK I'm going to bump this thread with a simple to-the-point question - hoping for an answer as I work out my theories.
For those of you who have flashed ICS and custom recovery with no "rolling/flickering" issues - are you using an unlocked bootloader?
For the bootloader you just hit the point my friend, the bootloader that we use to fix rolling recovery problem has issues with most kernels except Pershoot's HC or CM9...
For your problem you should think of grabbing the official ICS or HC(just for getting rid of screen flicker),and in addition to flashing it you should extract it's stock bootloader, make a. tar.md5 out of it and keep it for future similar problems...
Note that the bootloader can only be flashed using Odin in PC and CWM or even stock flashing using MobileOdin can't make changes to it(or recover it)
For now there is not a proper fix for that but I think the best way is to have the stock bootloader and use ROMmanager or MobileOdin for flashing(since the recovery rolls with stock bootloader)...
Yeah I flashed stock ICS and rooted yesterday. I am just going to fight through the rolling recovery for now and stick with ICS until we can do more.
Thanks for the response!
some trick:you can rename the zip files you're going to flash so that their name starts with "Z",it's then easy to navigate to them(just press vol down twice)
Yep! That works, and you can also rename files as update.zip and use that option I believe. It's time to think outside of the box a bit with regard to flashing some ROMs...thats the bottom line. i am sure there are a few devs on this site that would appreciate it if we did more of that lol!
guys im really getting the same problem now... and i dont know what to do
would you be able to help me please?

[Q] Tried flashing ROM, stock issues now.

Hey all.
So just a few hours ago, I was running rooted stock, as per the guide in the development section. I then installed twrp, and attempted to flash a ROM, which resulted in my phone not booting.
Since then, I got into recovery, attempted a factory reset (which didn't work), and ended up using Odin to restore to stock.
So now I'm sitting on the stock image, unsure if I have root. Everything seems to work fine, but is slow. Also, I cannot enable wifi (the switch goes on for a split second, then back to off).
Is there a way I can uninstall twrp, and go back to complete and total stock?
If it's relevant, I get a constant "This device has detected an application attempting unpermitted actions..." error.
Thanks guys!!!
UPDATE: It still has root access.
UPDATE 2: I'm finding some similar issues people were having with the T-Mobile version (http://androidforums.com/t-mobile-g...connect-wifi-prevention-information-help.html) though I'm not sure whether I can follow those solutions. I will wait until someone can advise me on this.
It sounds like you didn't installed the complete stock image, that the stocked rooted image is installed. Have you done factory reset?

I tried the factory reset option from within twrp recovery, which doesn't fix any of these issues I'm having with constant security alerts or Wifi.
Got it fixed by doing this:

[Q] Unique downgrade situation

I have a Verizon SCH-I605 Note 2. I rooted and unlocked the boot loader when it was on 4.1.2. I have since then flashed 4.3 Roms through TWRP and because of that, it didn't install KNOX at all.
I was having issues with the Bluetooth and WiFi radios recently. Randomly they would stop working and not turn on at all. The toggles would turn light green and act like they were gong to turn on but didnt. They just turned grey again. Then a few hours to a day later they would randomly work and turn on and work. Then randomly they wouldn't work again. I tried to see if there was a pattern to when they would stop working but there wasn't.
At first I thought it was an app that I had installed that was causing it. So I flashed the same and other roms after wiping "everything". That would seem to work for a while but soon it happened again. It even did it without installing any additional apps after flashing. I decided to flash the stock rooted 4.3 OTA. That didn't work either. I then decided to flash stock and unrooted 4.3 using mobile Odin and inject superuser and mobile Odin. Right of the bat WiFi and Bluetooth didn't work. I am ALMOST convinced that it is hardware related now. Any thoughts on what would be causing it?
Also when I flashed it stock and unrooted with mobile odin, It kept root but I lost TWRP. And when I boot into download mode, it doesn't show the KNOX counter line at all so i am assuming that it didnt install it. Is it possible to flash back stock to 4.1.2 with odin and then re root and unlock the boot loader? Or is there another way to get TWRP back?
Any help or feedback is greatly appreciated

[Q] Stuck on boot screen, no recovery, and now just stock 4.4.2

I have a massive issue...
Somehow I lost my TWRP recovery and when I tried to reflash it, I got the "software unauthorized by Verizon error" each time I started my phone.
I thought, no biggy, I'll just reflash back to VRALJB and all will be well with the world. Did it. No problem.
I then tried to unlock the bootloader. This is when all hell broke loose. I had to reflash VRALJB again and since then, I started getting stuck on the "Samsung Galaxy Note 2" screen (the first one, immediately after the phone turns on). I could not enter recovery using the (Volume UP + PWR + HOME) key combo. I could only enter download mode and use odin.
I tried everything. The only thing that worked was downloading the stock 4.4.2 Verizon image released a few days ago from sammobile.com
(I605VRUFND7_I605VZWFND7_VZW).
Now, I do not have root and my bootloader is locked, but at least I have a working phone and KitKat.
Hopefully the above helps someone, but, my question is, where do I go from here?
How do I go about installing a custom recovery and getting root? I would like to keep stock 4.4.2 as well and before anyone asks why, I want custom recovery for the sole purpose of managing my TWRP backups. Stock OS though.
Since you updated to 4.4.2, there isn't much you can do. No root, no recovery, no safestrap...yet. The only thing you can do is wait for developers to find a way to root this version of android.
Hi my friend, I have met the same problem, so could you tell me how to get that I605VZWFND7_VZW rom~
Please~~

[Q] settings have stopped?

hi all its been a while since ive been on the boards because ive been running rooted stock deodexed rom. i havent flashed in a year or so but just recently my settings have stopped.
i continually have been getting this message instantly after ancelling out the message. i cannot get past the select language option. theres no escape.
I couldn't even backup my current rom. so i did a battery pull and rebooted into recovery to flash different roms. I've tried dn3 which was the last rom i had saved to my sd card, and miui7. both yielded the same results of the same message about the settings has stopped. its obvious something has went bad over time. i have done nothing but use it as a phone. no flashing or anything. is there something i need to flash in order to troubleshoot this issue? i do not have the money to obtain a replacement through assurion. also my recovery wouldnt let me restore my 1 backup on my sd card. so is there anything i can do from scratch? any settings zips to flash? Odin? ive searched boards and nothing specific to my device (I605). please help

I'm assuming you are still on the 4.1.2 bootloader, since you were able to flash miui7 and dn3.
If something has gotten corrupted, you could try Odin'ing the stock recovery back onto the device by following the directions on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53624921
After getting the stock recovery on the device, do a factory reset and wipe cache in the stock recovery. Then you can use ODIN to reinstall CWM/Philz or TWRP (whichever recovery you were using previously). Hopefully you have an old backup you could restore... or you can set up your ROM again from the start after rebooting back into the system.
If worse comes to worst and wiping in the Stock recovery doesn't fix things...sounds like you may have to Odin back to stock 4.1.2, and then reroot with CASUAL and start over again. Droidstyle put together a good guide on how to restore the phone back to stock 4.1.2... you can find his guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34891181. I think the 4.1.2 firmware link is down, but you can grab it from Sammobile.com.
You probably know... but don't flash the official Stock 4.3 or 4.4.2 Firmware onto the phone because there's no current bootloader unlock methods for those..... 4.1.2 is the last Android version for our I605's that has a "do it yourself" bootloader unlock method.
