[Q] Can't connect to wifi - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Every time I try connecting to wifi phone stops on "obtaining IP address" and then disconnects. I tried setting up a manual configuration (IP, gateway, dns1, dns2) and this does solve the problem, but as soon as I switch it off it won't connect again.
TL;DR: wifi works only when using static IP

This is a ramdisk's issue. Try a new kernel from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1172200
Edit: I'm using this Rom now. No WiFi issue. (Pay attention what module you will download - cm 7. 0. 3 or cm 7. 1. 0)

[Q] Problem with connection to wifi

I searched in the internet a lot, but there's no clear answer. I have Galaxy Ace s5830 with system Android. I tried connect to home wifi network (this network is secured by WPA2), but my smartphone can't connect. I putted wpa2 password correctly for sure.
When I push "Connect" button, for a while it's "Scanning...", and then says "Disconnect". If I disable security of my home wifi network, I can connect and it's working well.
I don't know where the problem is: on the android system or hardware of my smartphone, or maybe on the router.
I heard that there are problems with Android and WiFi connection by WPA2, but is there no solution or I can't find its.
Thanks.
reset router
Try going to the router settings page & restarting your router. I had this problem on stock rom & this cleared it up for me.
Have you tried rebooting your phone? Its the solution 9 times out of 10
Are you rooted?
You might be locked out of your router. It happend to me yesterday. Try changing security settings to allow devices to connect.

Switch off your phone and turn it on again, if you use a custom ROM there might be a reboot option in power menu

It has done nothing. All the time it works this same. I mean it doesn't work. :/
Just disable broadcasting the ssid, add the hidden network name to phone and it will be good. You even mustn't have a password!
first, do you set your Wi-Fi setting correctly? look up on advanced setting, maybe it sets on static IP
second, try to reinstall your Wi-Fi driver on your SGA using code *#*#526#*#* via ur dial number
hope it's works

Well I after much gooogleing I found the solution:
Got to wifi--advanced settings
Tick "USE STATIC IP"
IP address : 192.168.1.253
Gateway : 192.168.1.1
Netmask : 255.255.255.0
DNS/(DNS 1for cm7): 8.8.4.4
And voilĂ  your wifi's working
I hope this helps many others like me ...cheers

To fix the problem actually:
See your router settings, is DHCP on?
And if it's, try to upgrade Router firmware.
I had (and still have, sometimes) DHCP problem like this, which forces me to use static IP, I couldn't find a permanent fix but upgrading the router firmware helps, at least reduces this problem

Well I don't have wifi at home ...I rely on public wifi hotspots so ur router method makes no sense to me ....btw I have fixed the connection issue but I m unable to browse the internet (wifi is connected) ..any suggestions? ???

That's why.
We can't rely on manual static IP on public hotspots, especially if it's free.
Some public hotspots usually have their own settings which you can get from DHCP
You can try copying the settings from a device that can connect via DHCP, though
