I have been looking for an app that notifies my phone calls on my browser. I ve looked at "android-notifier" app, but that works on wifi and pre configured ip address. I would like to work on the browser based on the gmail account that I am using on my wildfire. This is pretty close to what "MightyText" offers but that doesnt work well with notifying phone calls.
Any help is appreciated.

Yes everythings works fine its just mailing through the internet (ive gotten the exact same problem)
i cannot seem to send a mail with my phone :S
(Offtopic maybe related though)
Unfortunate the Internet problem where you auto update stuff like twitter and youtube of facebook. When you set the interval, after it tries updating my internet doesn't work either.
So I have a bell atrix and I have tried to put my Shaw email on it and i'm 100% sure all the settings are correct yet I can not send emails. I can receive them fine. But when I go to send it says authentication error sending.
Settings are as followed:
Incoming is: pop.shaw.ca and the corresponding port.
Outgoing is: mail.1xbell.ca and the corresponding port with neither box checked.
I spent an hour at bell with a lady who was on the phone with tech support and they couldn't fix it.
PS: THIS HAS BEEN FIXED. LEFT THE USERNAME AND PW BLANK
Still need help
Bumping this.

Im using shaws pop settings for incoming which work. And bells outgoing which doesn't work.
Outgoing is mail.1xbell.ca
Port 25
neither box checked
Are you connected to Wi-Fi? I believe that if you're using Wi-Fi the bell settings won't work, because you should be using your ISP outgoing credentials.
What outgoing credentials did you try with Shaw?

I tried all the shaw outgoing as well. I have wifi turned off and haven't used it once
I updated the OP.
I've heard of a few people having problems with sending shaw email if they're using a TELUS or Bell device, basically a non-shaw mobile device.
technically, mail.1xbell.ca should work, but you'll have to make sure you don't have the authentication option on the outgoing mail server turned on. (ie. don't use a user/name password).
What outgoing did you use for shaw shawmail.cg.shawcable.net ?
Shaw does not have a dedicated outgoing server. Have you tried setting outgoing server as smtphm.sympatico.ca ? Try and report back.
Please not by using the bell outgoing mail settings u will not be able to send email while connected to wifi. If u use Shaw in and out setting then while connected to wifi which uses shaw as the isp it will work then.
*edit
Port 587 if 25 doesn't work and try with and without authentication.

I tried that server and it didn't work either.
I tried it without my username and pw and I tried it with as well.
To no avail.
Bell and shaw email
Called Bell known issue they are working with Motorola for a fix, I am pissed to as my Milestone and Samsung Galaxy i9000m all worked fine, so I see it as Motorola has altered the Adroid mail app for their liking and screwed it up.
third party apps work fine
I downloaded K9 and it works fine with the Atrix and Shaw, so until Motorola fixes the stock Android app, guess I have to use K9

Are you using shaws outgoing or bells?
Shaw does not support an outgoing, you have to use mail.1xbell.ca and it won't work I called Bell and there are aware of the problem. But K9 does work fine for sending, the stock app works for receiving just not sending.
This is a necro bump. I was wondering if anyone here got it working?
removing outgoing mail server user name and password worked for me. Need Bell tech support to remove from sympatico account as Bell uses a template to set up an account.

new Atrix, Bell upgrade to 2.2.2
Atrix vs Shaw - fixed
Woo Hoo!! I finally have my Atrix/Shaw thing figured out.
First I had to enable Mobile Access:
shaw.ca - Accessing Shaw email from your Android
1. Go to the "Webmail Beta site" and sign in with your Shaw email and password.
2. Select Preferences then the Mobile Access tab.
3. Select Enabled, enter your existing Shaw password and click Save. If your password does not meet the security requirements, you must change it before Mobile Access can be enabled.
Step three was what was killing me....
After that the Set-up was;
Incoming:
- pop.shaw.ca
- 110
- full email address
- password
-- Left both checks un-checked
Outgoing:
- mail.shaw.ca
- 587
- full email address
- password
-- Left both checks un-checked
While looking through the Astro file manager app, I came across the "Show process" feature under the Told menu. The first process to my surprise was a Phone app. Opening the app, it allows you to add SIP accounts for IP calling. I don't have a SIP account, but maybe it's time to figure out if there is a generic Internet service. I know T-Mobile has wi-fi calling, but I don't think those servers are publicly available.
Still not sure if there is a dialer or if your dependent on the app... If lucky it could be associated with contacts.
Not sure if this is going to differ much from a Skype number... If direct dial through contacts is possible, that would be interesting.
Sorry if this has been covered. I've been away and this was an interesting revelation to me.
Sounds interesting. I am still looking for a possibility to do phone calls with the device. Everything I tried using dialers or apk's from different devices failed. Is there actually a radio rom inside the flyer?
I didn't have the 3G version but is it not possible to receive and send SMS? Therefore you need also the phone api. And selfs if not so for I know handle this app also the data connections for a 3G connection.

Yes because we have also WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G, GPS,... but maybe it is possible one day to make calls. The Quesition is here if the Flyer have the hardware and not the software.
This was definitely interesting. So far I've been able to get the device to make and receive phone calls using Sipgate as my SIP provider, Sipdroid as the SIP client, and Google Voice as a forwarder. So it's definitely possible to use the Flyer as a phone using third-party software.
When I try using the same setup with this native phone app, however, the Flyer just instantly gets a "missed" call" notification. There's also no way to make any outgoing calls yet using this native app as far as I know. Anybody else have any luck?
I played with this for an hour or so with some public SIP gateways, but didn't have much luck. The contacts app doesn't seem to link directly with the phone app so a dialer app would still be required.
The best integration (with contacts) is GrooveIP which was suggested onthe forum earlier.
i have the rom
i have the rom
PHONE APP is possible according to this thread !!! ( I saw the video it really works)
But you need a S-OFF Flyer ofcourse
Any Way to make GrooveIP work on this tablet???
I would like to use some type of voip with this device. I need to be able to make calls if possible. Are there any hacks for this?
Sent from my HTC EVO View 4G Honeycomb Tablet, runing on the Now Network, (or my AT&T Home Router, lol).
It's working in Gingerbread
One of the first things I did, before HoneyComb OTA came out, was load my Google Voice app, from the market.
Then I loaded and opened Groove IP. I set it up to match up with my GV acct. and also set it up to load at device bootup.
The last thing was to go to my GV acct. via a browser and check the box to forward incoming calls to Google Chat.
Now I have incoming and outgoing call capability(when in a wifi connection).
I either use a headset or hold my ear to the bottom speaker(back of unit).
i didn't have any problems installing it. Works perfect synched up with GV
Groove IP has always worked perfectly for me on the Flyer, both GB and now HC Roms.
My View just says "Please try again." Then I get three beeps. Then the call discontinues.
What do I do?
Do you have Google voice installed? That is required
Hi, I have a strange problem I can't resolve.
I have a SGS3, stock ROM (but rooted) and using K9 mail (although I've tried using the native email app and having the same issue, so I don't think it's a K9 problem).
Basically, I can't send or receive mail while on mobile data, but when I'm connected to a wifi network I can send and receive fine.
It only seems to be a problem with POP3 mail. Browsing works fine on either. My exchange email (I use Touchdown) works fine on both. Other connected apps work fine on both.
It's just POP3.
I've double checked the settings in case they somehow changed themselves or were changed by something else. As I said, I setup the same account using the native email app, same issue. It just doesn't connect to the POP3 server, it just sits there and times out. I don't even get a message.
I'm pretty tech savvy but this one has me stumped. I'd really appreciate some advice on how to troubleshoot and resolve this problem please.
Cheers,
Pete
Check with your networks email settings especially the Ports .

That's what's called "****ty provider"; The most probable reason is that your provider blocks access to SMTP/POP3/IMAP except maybe to their own servers.
That is what Telekom Germany does or at least did for a long time.
A not-so-easy but highly workable fix is to use Exchange accounts. Not only will you get (nearly) realtime delivery of your emails but since it leverages the HTTP protocol you bypass port-based restrictions. A PHP-Script e.g. is Z-Push
Easier is to open a VPN connection.
Some also just use a non standard port .
BE UK block port 25 for example .
Worth checking your networks forums .

Thanks everyone so far. I should have mentioned that my wife, an iphone user, isn't having this problem and she's using the same ISP. Therefore if it were a port issue I'd expect her to be having the same problems.

It seems to also be impacting instagram. It won't refresh or upload on 3G but works fine on wifi
