[Q] No webtop via HDMI - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After flashing to 2.3.4 from 2.2.2 , I have lost all weptop functionality. There seems to be no weptop installed at all (confirmed by plugging into lapdock). I really want Webtop via HDMI back. I have been searching for the correct package to install via CWM, however I'm not completly positive the files I have found are correct. Any ideas? Has anyone run into this?
For reference here is the ROM I have installed-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163342 - By Kennethpenn

first off - be ready to be flamed for wrong section. questions in Q&A section next time please.
secondly - the webtop via HDMI has not be updated to support GingerBread quite yet, read this thread for a lapdock CWM installer, as well as instructions to manually launch webtop over HDMI (need a terminal emulator on your phone)

And are you sure you need to post this over here

to be perfectly honest i never know what is appropriate to post in this section at times. So i''l just assume ALL questions go in Q&A and thanks for the help

you would be correct in assuming that where all the general help questions go.
if its a question specifically related to a specific ROM or mod (in dev or theme sections) you can ask it in its respective thread, and just hit the thanks button when someone helps you

imnuts said it should work, with a few modifications. There's also an app in the market called Odin maker- haven't tried it though.
Re-post #2: Please post questions in our new, shiny (well, ok, 6 months old) Q&A section. Those of us who have experience helping others with Fascinate Android issues (and, more importantly, our devs) regularly check the Q&A section to see if there are any questions out there we can help with. You'll most likely get better answers and get them more quickly in that section
Another Fascinating post by my XDA app...
The funny thing is that if you searched imnuts' title exactly in the Fascinate forum you would have found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1150016

Few questions about CM9.

Hello.
I have just got this phone few days ago.
I am intrested in installing CM9, but i have few questions. If i have understood correctly, I need to install leaked ics before installing cm9 (or any other ics rom). Can this be done with mobile odin, and if can, am I able to keep the root with it? (It has function to keep root)
Also, does cm9 support usb otg? There was no result when i tried to search.
Sorry if these are stupid questions.

if you are already rooted which i gather you are just flash the latest nightly. then flash the last google apps and that is it job done. you can flash all those from recovery.
Make sure you back up your current rom and apps and then go ahead and do full wipe. Data - cache - and dalvik and also format system in mount and storage. Flash the above two i mentioned and that should be it.
Regarding the usb - otg not sure but you can ask in the discussion thread
EDIT: i went from checkrom v6 straight to cm9 if that helps.
No. You don't need to install leaked ICS first. I tried CM9 over the weekend & flashed CM7 first. Follow the instructions on the first page of the CM9 discussion thread & you'll be fine.
If you use the files linked to in the first post in the CM9 thread, they're CWM flashable, so you'll need to have a kernel installed that has CWM in order to flash them. CFRoot kernel will do just fine if your phone isn't already rooted with a kernel that has CWM. There might be Odin flashable files around somewhere, you might have to search for them.
It is rooted, yes. Does it support USB OTG ? Good question. That's one thing I do use a bit on GB & forgot to test when I used CM9. Given USB file transfer doesn't work yet, I doubt it. But ask in the CM9 discussion thread or read the FAQS/Wiki.
So in summary, given you haven't done anything to your phone yet:-
1) Root it with a CFRoot kernel
2) Go to the CM9 discussion thread & follow the install instructions in the first post.

True but once you get the hang of things and how things work with the s2 it is a piece of cake..But i must admit sometimes i get scared on what to do specially if i have to unroot and root again as i have only done it a few times...Once i stayed rooted that is it...i do all my upgrading by flashing custom roms. anyway good luck with cm9 you will not regret using it..let me know how you get on
Haha ;-) You Sir are a noble man
OP - Yep, S is right. CM9 is a very nice piece of work given they've only had leaks & their own considerable hacking talents to work with. It's not quite a 'daily driver' for me at this point, but once sources come out I'll be switching back to it post haste. I'd be surprised if the CM team don't have a stable ICS release long before other devs.

USB Connect to Computer?

Im running ROM Unicornporn (dont ask) and cant connect via usb. Id post on the forum itself, but im a new user and dont have enough posts... So is anybody running it and know how to? Or is anyone willing to ask them, instead of me, since i cant post?
btw, the link the the page is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24626122#post24626122
thanks
I'm not new to rooting but I am new to the website. Couple of questions before I can really help. First the ROM you flashed is a cdma rom but is your phone cdma or GSM? Next question, what hboot are you on? Finally have you downloaded the adb and fastboot drivers to your PC? I'll see if I can help you out if you can get back to me
Did you fully wipe before flashing?
Also, it seems that rom is pretty much in the Alpha stage, meaning things won't work, which is normal.
Ok I think I found a solution to your problem. Go to the main post for your ROM on xda. There is a link near the top that says Check out the comprehensive FAQ by brainfire. Click that link and it will take you to a FAQs website for you ROM. It talks about your USB problem on there. Sorry I can't provide a link. I haven't posted enough yet but I would give it if I could. Hope this helps a bit.

Is it possible to root without flashing insecure kernel like the SGSII?

I know it's early days and the phone isn't even out yet, but on the SGSII you could root the phone without flashing the insecure kernel, thus avoiding the Triangle or a counter increase on the custom rom count.
The method for achieving this was posted on the thread below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719&highlight=sgs+ii+root
Does anyone know if the same method will work? or be achieved?
Thanks,
Bruno
That sounds like a question...therefore should not be in development
Afaik not yet!
But if you got a S3 you could try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24882250&postcount=1
Looking into the .bat and files I couldn't find something that is xperia specific.
Edit: Or this one (might be the same trick)

Wrong section for the post, but yes, you will have to upgrade to 2.3.5 from 2.3.4. You most likely won't have to SBF, as you will probably get the phone running 2.3.4, but it is a good habit to get into so that ROM installs go more smoothly and bugs are easier to detect.
Follow the thread posted above and you're good to go.
Also, that search thread box is there for a reason . It's pretty helpful (you don't have to scroll 500+ pages!).
Questions should be asked in Q&A forums, not development forums.
Thread moved.
The Eclipse site will tell you what order you need to do it in. You can't root 2.3.5, have to root 2.3.4 do a voodoo and then upg and restore the backup.
