hi there, i was wondering if anyone could help me. i have a mac and my x10 mini is bricked. my question is does anybody know of a way of factory resetting the phone on a mac. as it is bricked, i can't boot into xrecovery to restore a backup i have made.
Install SEUS! Download it from sony ericsson's website, its called update service! I'm sure its available for mac too!
no, seus is not aviable for mac/linux. the only way to update is via windows. if you wanna do it on your mac you need to install oracle virtualbox (vmware is NOT working), then install an an virtual windows (xp is enough mabye you find via torrent) and then install seus in this virtual windows. i know this is a lot of work but the only way (thanks to se ). for me takes 4 hours just to update my damn phone..
i'm a noob on xda, so i can't post links but search in google for "x10 mini update linux munz.li". if you have a mac you just need to look at the part with the usb-filters..
good luck..
Ok thanks anyway I used my mates pc.
Whilst im here, does anybody know how to map the buttons in a custom rom? I am trying to port the rom of the sony ericsson w8. The main thing that doesn't work is the buttons :-(

Hi guys!
I've followed the instructions to install Froyo on my Rogers X10a and everything went really well, but due to the fact that I don't have WiFi, any cellular radio (can't even search networks) and lots of times where it will crash, I am looking to revert my phone back to the Rogers 2.1 firmware, however I haven't been able to do so.
I have followed a tutorial (can't post links, search Google for "rebranding rogers xperia x10" and select 2nd link). But I am still unable to do it! I'm stuck at step 10, where it mentions the Java error. I have installed only 32-bits versions of JDK and JRE on my 64-bits Windows 7 Ultimate laptop and I can't get past this point. I have verified my Device ID on my desktop computer (only computer I have used with PC Companion).
I am really stuck as I need my phone really bad (only phone I have, can't find my BlackBerry Bold...).
I have no idea what else I should try to do at this point and I'm being kinda desperate. I'm new into the flashing thing, but was aware of the risks... probably just didn't know it could be that bad...
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Try THIS GUIDE to install x10a
Okay im asking this question for a friend.
He currently has an 1.6 X10 (stock) which i have managed to root.
However the USB port is broken ( a common problem ) so we can't use flash tool or anything requiring USB.
So now we are rooted on 1.6 can we get Xrecovery or some form of recovery on to the the phone ? we have got busy box installed and have tryed to run the newest Xrecovery.apk from this site but its fails at parsing the file.
Any help on this would be great as he would like to get 2.1 on his phone so he can then continue to use official updates ( he doe snot care that he will loose root if he does this )
Regards,
I have the exact same problem. Tried every way of installing xrecovery, still no luck.
Anyone help please?
You can try adb over wifi if u r android version have it see in developers option if there then I can root by adb commands over wifi

Hi Peeps,
I'm having problems getting xRecovery installed on my phone so that I can use custom ROMs. So far the tutorials I've used on XDA have been unsuccessful in installing xRecovery.
Does anyone have a more simplified/reliable tutorial that I can follow. Thanks in advance!
Try this Executable Archive http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913136
its not important if .24 or .06 (;
1. just Activate Debugging in Settings and
2. make sure that u have "Sony Ericsson PC Companion" installed for Debugging drivers.. otherwise SuperOneClick doesnt work
If u Follow these Steps it will work 100%
greez
PS: pls reply if it works..
Hi,
I'd like to think i'm quite experienced in the rooting and modding scene, however that was until yesterday, when I installed a CM7 Mini rom, and the phone is now stuck in the Sony Ericsson screen.
I installed the rom but then flashed gapps (Google Apps). I didn't reboot the phone between the installations and the phone is now stuck on the Sony Ericsson splash screen.
Normally I would remove the battery and put the phone into recovery, however I'm unable to do that as it's got a built in battery.
I've tried everything to get this phone working but to no avail. It doesn't help that my laptop i'm using is a 64bit machine, I do have access to a 32bit computer too.
I've tried repairing it with Sony PC Companion, SeUS, won't even install because it needs something like Macromedia, I've also tried flashtool.
In a nutshell i'm unable to put the phone into recovery.
Has anybody got ideas how I can revive my SE X10 Mini?
I've now successfully restored it.
How did u restored it? cause I´m having kinda the same problem with my SE mini pro x10
U r on wrong part of forum guys, this is xperia x10 section, not mini and mini pro..

first went to official sony site for bootloader unlock did as they sed... installed android sdk and all... now i swtiched my phone off and connected it again while pressing the volume up button.....
now comes the depressing part... windows was trying to install the driver and cudnt find one (i have win7) so the sucker didnt ask for the place where it cud get the driver from....
i took care of that too... pressed windows key+r and hdwwiz selected sony and specified the place where the drivers were stored (extras->google->usb-driver) select the file and click okay... now it shows a dialogue....(the folder specified doesnt contain a compatible software driver for your device. if the folder contains a driver make sure it is designed to work with windows for x64-based systems)
plz help.... i am seriously getting frustrated now???????
