hi there, i was wondering if anyone could help me. i have a mac and my x10 mini is bricked. my question is does anybody know of a way of factory resetting the phone on a mac. as it is bricked, i can't boot into xrecovery to restore a backup i have made.
Install SEUS! Download it from sony ericsson's website, its called update service! I'm sure its available for mac too!
no, seus is not aviable for mac/linux. the only way to update is via windows. if you wanna do it on your mac you need to install oracle virtualbox (vmware is NOT working), then install an an virtual windows (xp is enough mabye you find via torrent) and then install seus in this virtual windows. i know this is a lot of work but the only way (thanks to se ). for me takes 4 hours just to update my damn phone..
i'm a noob on xda, so i can't post links but search in google for "x10 mini update linux munz.li". if you have a mac you just need to look at the part with the usb-filters..
good luck..
Ok thanks anyway I used my mates pc.
Whilst im here, does anybody know how to map the buttons in a custom rom? I am trying to port the rom of the sony ericsson w8. The main thing that doesn't work is the buttons :-(

So I've been following the bootloader unlock instructions on the Sony-Ericsson site and when I have plugged the phone in and the instructions say it should ask me for drivers it just plays the driver install failed noise, so in device manager I have the S1Boot Fastboot listed but when I point the driver update wizard to the adb folder where the driver is it just says it cannot find it. Anyone had an issue like this or knows how to fix it or have I done something completely idiotic because it's 6am and I haven't slept for 2 days?
you need the google usb drivers (android sdk) good luck !
Yeah I got past this bit and have the phone unlocked now but during the proccess my camera, lockscreen and a couple of other bits have stopped working and I can't simply revert back to the original software as sony's tool won't allow that. Also can't find a clockworkmod recovery image for the device so have no clue how to put the cyanogenmod nightly that's out on.
Can't you use flashtool to flash a stock rom ?
Yup, all recovered now.
It would be much better if this most essential of sites for people mucking around with there android phones had a section for the Xperia Pro, there are already plenty of threads for the device but they are spread over every other Sony section and makes finding the thread that will help quite difficult.
Sorry about this being in the wrong section but it won't let me make a thread in the development thread, basically trying to unlock my bootloader, i've looked online for a few hours now, i follow instructions on unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com but when i look for the drivers it doesn't find them. step 13 says:
"On your computer, you will be asked for drivers. Point to the usb_driver folder where you placed the android_winusb.inf-file, and select the Android Boot loader Interface-file." the android boot loader interface-file doesnt exist, i'm slowly losing the will to live. someone please help i want custom roms :'(
Hi , the metod of Sony Ericsson are so much slow , in the metod of s1tool in 30 seg
The method on Sony's site (same as on CyanogenMod's site) didn't work for my unbranded Mini Pro (SK17).
Neither did the testpoint (DRM-preserving) method - until I tried using a different USB port. It is indeed fast, when it works.
you need to install fastboot drivers . search fastboot_with_android_usb_file.rar on google, there will you get that file on mediafire.com, extract it. it contains driver. when asked for drivers, manually install drivers by pointing to extracted folder
Hey yeh its all done now and running nerodroid, thats exactly what I did and thanks for the help

Perfect!
Hello, i recently updated my x10 mini pro ato 2.1 on the sony app for pc, it has been very buggy, when im on messaging and go to slide the keyboard it will take ages to turn the screen then sometimes split the screen or jusr crash and go to a black screen and i have to pull the battery, i mamanged to get cwm on there but cant find a 1.6 stoock rom zip to install with after spending hours searching i dont know what to do thanks
Try the repair option in PC Companion for a fresh install of 2.1, that might solve your problems, make sure to backup your data first
I tried that it still has exactly the same problem, I want it back to the stock 1.6 Luke firmware it was on before but can find it anyway, I looked in the mini pro roms and it didn't seem to have it and its all very confusing with the keyboard lay outs aswell I'm not sure to ignore them or do they get installed with a new rom? Stressed! Lol
Or if possible you knew what was causing the phone to crash? It works fine untilled I slide out the keyboard then it crashes, if there is a fox for this? Or any other uses are experienceing this?
I guess, since it's an official update from SE.. you could take your phone back to the shop if you still have warranty and see if they can fix it

I would but its old now and i dont think its covered under warrenty, is there any easy way to fix this issue or downgrade back to 1.6?
well... i would have one suggestion maybe try upgrading it, if it's quite old and not covered by warranty you might have some luck with a 2.2 or 2.3 rom from the mini pro development forum Unfortunately downgrading isn't usually something people do here, although there is one thread in the mini pro development section that deals with that, I'll see if i can find it.

There it is, i hope it's of use to you. provided you have a u20i, if your model is diffferent (u20a) it might fail, but you can still repair it from PC Companion if it does.
I saw this before but thought since its nl version would it be differnt to the uk version? and i couldnt find envirmental setting on windows 7 and yes it is a u20i
As long as the basebands are the same it should work ok, you can change the language at first boot and i think NL and UK have compatible networks, so no problem there either.
I didn't download the Java Development Kit (JDK) in order to flash my phone, just the JRE and the latest version of flashtool will do, and you already have the usb drivers, via PC Companion, so forget about the JDK bit, just push the downloaded firmware into the flashtool\firmwares folder and flash it to your phone. Hope it works out for you that way
Okay thankyou for your ime i will try this when i get home
You're welcome
If i flash this sotware to my phone, if there is some compatibility issues can i use the repair tool to put it back to the uk stock software im on now or will it put it to the NL software?
you can change the build.prop to resemble your model i guess...
find the line in your current build.prop that says something like this: (build.prop is in the system folder)
ro.product.name=U20i_1238-0199
and make a note of the numbers (in this case 1238-0199, but yours will probably be different)
Then, after you flash the new firmware, replace all instances of that number to what is in yours now (you need to root your phone to achieve this, using root-explorer to find and edit your build.prop is the easiest way).
After that, run SEUS or PC Companion to repair your phone and you will get your native firmware again.
But you only need to do this if the firmware doesn't work for you 'as is'. I hope for you it will be ok.
Okay thanks trying this method now (fingerscrossed)
which JRE file do i download? heres the list ;
Linux x86 (32-bit) 20.46 MB jre-7u4-linux-i586.rpm
Linux x86 (32-bit) 32.77 MB jre-7u4-linux-i586.tar.gz

Windows x64 (64-bit) 20.85 MB jre-7u4-windows-x64.exe
i downloade the 20.85 mb file for windows 32bit i skippe dthe envimental bit like you said now i cant find the .bat file where i press one for flashing my phone?
Did you download flashtool? the latest version? should be 0.7.1.0
Download from Here
Install
Put the firmware in the flashtool\firmwares folder
Run Flashtool.exe
Push the Leftmost button (that looks like a thunderbolt)
Choose flashmode
Select the right firmware (don't know if there's anything else in there, you could have a few options)
Follow the instructions onscreen (unplug phone, turn off phone, press back-button on phone, plug phone in, you know the drill)
It will flash...
Flashtool was updated from when the guide was written and is much easier to use now
Yes I did this, the phone kept turning on after about ten secounds after I pressed flash, it said check mpt mode is off? I don't know how to do that
MTP Mode is only for 2011 and later devices, ours is 2010, it doesn't have that option so don't worry about that
You are holding the backbutton while plugging the phone in right? the dialog telling you to do that should disappear almost immediately and flashtool should start flashing...
Yes I am holding it, do I have to hold it through the whole process?
[ISSUE HAS BEEN SOLVED! - Download and use "ROOT Genius" to root this particular brand of tablet. I have personally tested it and can confirm it works on Firmware revisions: v1.0.07 and v1.0.9! Thanks to "brugos" for finding the fix and bringing it to my attention!]
Hey guys
I do hope I have posted this question in the correct forum, if not I do apologise.
As you can probably tell from the title, I am looking for a way to root my 9.7 inch Prestigio MultiPad 4 Quantum 9.7 tablet (Model: PMP5297C_QUAD).
I have been looking for a way to root this since December, and even though I have found several articles (non English) explaining how to root this device (and have been through all the relevant threads I could find regarding my device on XDA), all of the guides have been for firmware v1.0.3 - my tablet is v1.0.7. I went ahead and tried it anyway, and although CWM installed and launched fine, installing the SuperSU binary via CWM did nothing. It installs, but nothing appears in Android when I reboot, and installing SuperSU from Play Store alerts me that the SuperSU binaries are not installed.
I tried "Kingo Android ROOT" and that wouldn't even detect the device, which isn't surprising as it isn't listed on their website. However somebody on a similar thread (on XDA) suggested that the OP (who has the same tablet as myself) at least try it. I did try it, and sadly it doesn't work.
Device information:
Prestigio MultiPad 4 Quantum 9.7" Tablet
Model Number: PMP5297C_QUAD
Firmware: v1.0.7 (December 2013)
FW Build Number: PMP5297C_QUAD_20131204_V1.0.7
Android Version: 4.2.2
If there is anybody out there who has any idea what to try, then I am willing to listen. If anybody needs any other information, I am more than willing to give it
Cheers guys
Prestigio multipad 4 quantum 9.7
The same here..trying to find a way to root for the new firmware...still haven't got anything...
Yeah... doesn't seem to be a very popular brand of tablet :/ Which is a shame as its pretty damn snappy with the v1.0.7 firmware. I wanna get a resolution changer to work, but none I have tried will work without rooting. Only wanna drop the res for better gaming framerates lol
yeah agree...doesn't seem very popular... I guess we should wait some time more.... did you try rooting with the old firmware and then updating to the new firmware? I guess it wouldn't work anyway....
Nope... from past experience rooting phones updating the firmware breaks the root as v1.0.7 replaced the entire OS if I remember...
Tried the root for v1.0.3 while using v1.0.7... ClockWorkMod installed and works fine, but the SuperSU binary doesn't work/install It was a gamble incase it screwed anything up but luckily it didn't - however, it also didn't work
And yeah, looks like we will need to wait a while longer... I do hope someone out there somewhere knows what to do lol Just gotta find them or wait for them to find us lol
Hey dude...you still haven't find root? If not try with root genious... I got root now on my tablet...running the latest firmware 1.0.9
Regards!
Ah man! You are AMAZING! lol
I almost gave up trying to find a root - until now!
I had no idea that there was a new FW released a few weeks back, just updated it and downloaded "ROOT Genius" - worked first time!
Excellent work there dude, thank you so much and thank you for taking the time to share it with me, and the rest of the people out there who have been in the same situation as us who are still looking for a fix!
Now we have it! Excellent work!
You welcome!
Just curious what are you going to do to your tablet having root now?
Do you know if there is any posibility to install any rom or something like that?
Also knowing Prestigio I guess would be hard to find some updates hmmm
Hey man
Well the main reason I wanted to root first of all was to adjust the resolution of the display, it has a beautiful high resolution display as you know but some games... the FPS leave a lot to be desired. After doing some reading, some posts suggested lowering the display resolution to increase FPS - and the only way to do that was to root the device.
I did try one app, but it went a bit wrong lol. I was hoping it would readjust the resolution and resize the interface accordingly... instead it ended up changing the resolution, but the interface stayed MASSIVE. The device was inoperable and keep getting a "UI Error" constantly popping up making it unusable at all lol. Had to reflash and re-root so I am looking for another option
Beyond that, I have used custom ROMs in the past on my Android phones, but as far as I know, I believe there is only one ROM out there for our tablet and its based on CyanogenMOD I think... I may be wrong, but I thought I read something somewhere about it. Apart from that though, I am not really sure what else I will do now it is rooted Will open the door to some other apps for certain, but the OS itself seems fine and since the new firmware (v1.0.9) - it feels even faster than before!
What do you have in mind?
Yeah I noticed the issue of FPS in some games.... Well I didn't do many things yet I instaled Xposed and some modules.... and also I removed the navingation bar...is just that I dont like the way the navigation bar and status bar are together... thats why I was searching for another rom also which could have not the Ice cream sandwich bar.
I've found this: crewrktablets.arctablet.com where there are some roms with kit kat that may be work for our tablet but nothing confirmed yet...so I'm not sure if I'm gonna try it
and yeah with the new firmware is much faster thats cool.... but I'm almost sure will be forever in 4.2.2
It worked with MULTIPAD 4 QUANTUM 10.1PMP5101C-QUAD with last firmware too.

You've got some drivers here: http://storage29-free.uloz.to/Ps;Hs...7c-cwm-v6-0-3-zip?bD&c=1822785863&De&redirs=1
It's also root and cwm. But there is driver folder too. Even for windows 8. It might work.
Here are some instructions maybe you did something wrong
1. On tablet set the usb-connection-style to 'mass storage'. Settings, Memory-3 dots in the upper right corner- choose Mass storage
2. Turn off the tablet.
3. Connect the usb cable with PC and tablet.
4. HOLD DOWN the (volume +) key and turn the device on(still holding the vol.+) until you get a notice(driver not successfuly installed) on your PC.
5. Use the Manual(found in the downloaded folder) to install a proper driver. Or.: Go to Start-My Computer-Right click on it-Properties-Device Manager-Other devices-Unknown device-Update Driver- In the window browse the computer for the specific driver(that's why you need to know your systems pc)
Good luck.

Ok, i tried those drivers too but no success. I think maybe i need other OS.
I have developers options ON and USB debugging turned ON. (I think that should be turned ON)
P.S. I changed to mass storage and program did recognize the tablet but when i clciked switch (tablet turned OFF) and then it did not recognize anymore - i think problems with drivers.
Update to 1.0.9
Hello again,
I finally made it
Here is the thing:
1) Download this update (1.0.9): http://de05.dl.prestigio.com/Service_Files/TabletPC/PMP5297C_QUAD/PMP5297C_20140425_v1.0.9.zip from @yoyo97 (thanks)
2) Dont use drivers in folder /Drivers_x32 or /Drivers_x64
Instead go to /tools/Driver (and use this one x86 or x64 - depends on your OS)
3) Follow instructions in manual:
start RKBatchTool.exe and if icon is not green click Switch. Wait for tablet to shutdown and you should get green icon. (if this doesnt help turn off your tablet manualy and press AND hold volume + button for about 6-7 seconds DONT release and plug in USB cable then you should get notification on windows and green icon in RKBatchTool.exe)
4) Choose the firmware image and click upgrade.
5) let the software do the trick
6) profit
7) for rooting i used an android app called kingo root https://www.kingoapp.com/ just download the app on tablet. When you start it just click root and let the app do the trick.
After around 2-4min your tablet should be rooted.
I was using windows 7 (x86)
If you need any information please let me know and I will be glad to help
Have a nice day,
DyXen
Hi DyXen
Tried it all, but cannot get rockusb.inf to work on Windows 10 64-bit. I see two devices in my device manager after connecting the tablet, POrtable Device PMP5297C_QUAD and Android Composite ADB Interface. Have tried forcing the bundled Win8 x64 rockusb.inf on to both devices but keep getting "The folder you specified does not contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with Windows for x64 based systems."
I have also tried DriverAssistant v4.4 and it installed the drivers OK.
Even tried copying the IMG and ZIP files to SD card and applying via recovery. Nothing works. My tablet is still stuck on 1.0.3 and is sluggish as a snail. Some help will be greatly appreciated.
