My evo gets horrible and i mean horrible data speeds consistently 300kb or less on both upload and download.
I know it's a common problem. And i figured it was like when the first evo came out that it would fix itself. but it hasn't I have done prl updates and all but still no improvement. should i return it and just get a replacement in a couple days or should I try sprint trouble shooting. I never had speeds this bad with me OG evo, and my wife's epic is fine also....
Any recommendations? I would prefer not to mess with the phone, and i just want it to work outa the box.

You can edit it if you'd like. Just select to edit your first post, and you should be able to scroll all the way up and change it.
EDIT: Also, I don't have a good suggestion to your problem if you don't really want to mess around with it. Did you already try the known 'fixes' for that issue? Perhaps try calling Sprint and see if they can do a reset on your data profile or something to that nature. I know you said you don't want to mess with it, and you'd prefer if it worked out of the box, so perhaps calling Sprint is the best bet if you're not feeling like messing around with it.
Had the same problem with my evo, went to a sprint store, the rep that helped me had the same phone that he said he got weeks before the official release, when we tried to do a speed test his was around 300 (the 3g g in this area is really bad) while mine was 30-50, at the same place same time. so he sent it back to the techs, they said everything was fine, so he just exchanged it for me (30 days exchange), no restocking fee or any of these sort of things. so I recommend you exchanging the phone (unless you are not in the 30 days) then i would send it through warranty.
good luck
Thanks today is my last day though i ordered it online so I can't into a store.
I'm ginna try the fixes. And then I'm gonna tryba verizon prl like I had on my evo. Though I lose txt message accuracy if I do tyat....
Thanks for the suggestions.

Go there and tell them about the horrible data speeds and ask for a data reset. they will re provision your account and that should help...doing the proxy removal hack might help too...did for me...

Also try the prl hack to gain 3g roaming access on Verizon's towers. You'll need qpst and your msl.

What's going on, guys?
I got my MoPho 4 days ago and have been having trouble connecting to 4G. Sprint says there's nothing wrong on their end. Is there any kind of diagnostic I can personally run or is there anything I cam do to fix this because I it to a repair center and they said they could nothing but reprovision it.
Along with that I've been having super slow 3G connection speeds as well. The Sprint store refuses to replace my phone and over the phone isn't any better. Is there anything I can do?
Btw, I live in the middle of a 4G zone, Staten Island, NY.

3g speeds are horrible right now on Sprint, not sure whats going on. But I know that it is all over the nation. As for the 4g, find a wal mart, you should have full bars and have no connection issues.
If you do I would suggest you try to get a replacement if you are completely stock. Hope to god your not asking this question with an unlocked bootloader. lol I doubt you are considering you said you took it into a repair shop, they would have laughed at you had you tried that I'm sure.
I haven't been able to connect to 4G in a couple days myself. Hope it gets resolved soon.

Has anyone else noticed their data speeds drop significantly after this latest update? At first I just figured they were doing something to the network, but here a week or so later I'm still getting around 100 - 200kb where I used to get 1mb.

Mine seems fine. I am running Eternity 3.0 with no issues. All I have is 3g in my area tho and I live out in the country side. Do you live in a big city were there is alot of folks hammering away on data?
I'm near cocoa beach so it's not uncommon for them to get this low during the day, but around now at one in the morning the they're usually good.
My upload speeds seem fine also, it's just my down stream data that is horrible.

Yeah my data speeds have tanked too man, sucks!
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
I think it may have affected me also. At night I can still pull over 1 mb down on 3g. WiMAX I haven't been able to pull over 1 mb down my upload speeds are normal for both I'm not sure if its location related or update related. The other night I couldn't even download an app on 3g.
It is so noticeable! The latest update destroyed my data speeds. It's horrific now. Now, even in major cities I've never had a problem in, I struggle just to refresh a web page. Seriously, if I'm not on wifi I can't even use this anymore.

My data speeds were always pretty bad but I've noticed other carriers like att and Verizon having same issues.

have no fluctuation here whatsoever, not even the slightest bit.
My speeds on 3G were always not so great and before and after the update they didn't budge to be honest.
Still waiting on the tower upgrade to be done near my house to fix the capacity issue it has. Too bad im told thats not set to be done till April 1st. lol
Love that they spent the time to do the voice capacity upgrade in December when Ive never ever had a dropped call here once, but data has always capped out at sub par speeds.
Believe me i check multiple times during the day and multiple servers on the speedtest app always in the same exact location and compare the same times of day and its funny to watch the speed i get at 6am be crushed by 11am when normal folk wake up. haha

Hello. I've lived in the same place since 2003 and have had sprint since. I've always gotten superb signal but after taking my evo 3d in for screen replacement I have zero bars of signal in the same house. Could they have done something to break my good connection?
Any help would be appreciated.

A simple screen replacement wouldn't do that. Like the above poster said, the first thing to do is call Sprint and see if there is a tower out. If not, were you rooted when you took the phone in? Normally, whatever you take the phone in for, Sprint will fully update it. Perhaps they updated you while you were rooted.
lmao. ummmm are you guys kidding me? lol most companies will lie to their customers and say they're down just to shut up the customer. lol. But I highly doubt it is a tower. I'd say they screwed up your phone. But easy way to figure it out. I forget the name of the app. but FIND OUT WHAT TOWER YOU WERE REALLY ON! Chances are you WERE NOT ON a sprint tower. Sprint is ONLY GOING TO KNOW ABOUT THEIR OWN towers. They won't have any idea if it belongs to someone else normally.
But who knows. wouldn't hurt calling them. does your phone work other places? what towers are they working on?
Call from a landline, they have you do a few things with your cell. They are also able to check your signal by phone, save some gas and time

wait? who has landlines? lol. just kidding. but for real. most people are dropping their land-lines these days. I hate mine. I need voip. But yeah. could work. But that's hoping that you get the right tech that knows what he's doing. When I've called in... Most of the techs don't know their butt from their mouth. But still worth a shot.
Last night I decided to try to update my prl through the updater in Sense and I got an error code 1233. Called sprint tech support and spent an hour trying to get it fixed. The tech ended up just sending me a new phone, which a huge buzz kill because I've had hboot 1.12 since the beginning with s-off. Was running toasted-deck from irc, and I don't know if that had anything to do with my phone getting screwed up so I figured I'd ask if anyone else has had this problem? I want to unlock this new phone when I get it too, and I'm really going to miss TD if this is a common problem.
I got the same thing while trying to update my firmware.

I was getting this too. I had to run an errand up to another major city north of where I live. While there, I figured I'd give it a shot again, and it worked there. If you get the opportunity, try running it in a different area from where you tried.

Unfortunately I did try in a few different areas. I live in Cincinnati and go to school in Dayton, but got the same error in both places. I really wonder how this even happened because I never had a problem running AOSP on my OG EVO so I don't think that could be it.
I had this happen on my 3D and when it did work it only connected to Verizon....weird I know and even the tech couldn't believe but I did a data reset on it and never had that problem again.

I had the same problem a few days ago. I was Running CM10 and switched over to Stock w/ Goodies to update my PRL and Profile so i can take advantage of LA's new LTE network but i kept getting that error. I ended up unrooting and relocking my phone and restored to complete stock after that it updated fine the first time. I doubt being rooted prevents you from updating either the PRL or Profile.
I was getting the same error code at work. I googled the code ansomeone said it was a connection problem. I believe this because I never get a good signal at work. When I got home my prl updated. I'm on meanrom.
Easy Fix
Turn off WiFi and LTE radio (CDMA only) and try it. You should be able to update the PRL and Profile.
As "zAcHcOmA" mentioned, I also gave them a Thanks for it.. I had the same issue with "Error Code 1233".
My problem started when I noticed every incoming call I tried to answer thru the Handset would basically act as if I missed the call. Seems I didn't have an issue answering through Blue Tooth though. Not exactly sure what is causing this. I'll keep an eye on it after updating my PRL & Profile. Anyways, I did the following and was able to update both PRL & Profile..
1. Make sure Wireless is off
2. Set network to by going to Settings - Mobile Data - Network Mode "CDMA only"
3. I was then able to update both PRL & Profile through System Updates and I then rebooted my phone.
I'll now find out if my issue is resolved or if I still have on going issues.
Quick question. My wife and I both have the EVO LTE. I've had mine since August and she just got her's recently. We activated it Tuesday. Our phones can sit side by side, mine will have either full signal or close to it but her's will go between none, one, and two bars. I've always had strong signal here and it worries me that her phone is getting such weak signal. Should I be worried? Is there anything I can do to improve her signal or should I take it to the Sprint store? Trying to prevent her getting s refurb since she just got this new phone. Everything else seems to be working fine, she even picks up 4G. We're both completely stock. Any help would be appreciated.

Oddly enough her signal is doing better now. Is it possibly it took a while to get her profile and the Rom settled in? Should I still take it anyways while it's still in the 14 day time frame or now that it's doing better just roll with it?
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
Its most likely the spring terminal contacts under the little cover you remove to access the micro sd card slot.
There is a post somewhere about stretching the little spring terminals to gain signal. I have done it and it absolutely worked. My wife and I both have EVO LTE's as well and her phone had better signal than mine exactly as you describe.

You only have 13 days to return, they count the day of purchase so don't make the mistake of waiting too long!
Assuming you're on sense, you can enter ##debug# in the dialer and see your actual signal levels in terms of dbm, not bars.
