Which root method is the best to use to root my Lg Optimus V? While using some googlefu I have come across various methods of gaining root and I am curious which method is the best and the varying differences between them.
The methods I have come across are as follows;
* GingerBreak
* SuperOneClick
* FastBoot
I'm also curious how I would unroot and restore the phone to factory defaults. Any information on that would also be much appreciated.
check to see if z4root works cuz its the fastest and most convenient way to root, at least for the O1. it gives u the option to either do a temporary root (which lasts until u reboot ur phone) or a permanent root. after u root ur phone it gives u the option to unroot or reroot
Thanks I'll check it out. I'm trying to find the least intrusive way to gain root.
I an still a noob but it seems that there are two main ways that root is gained via either an exploit like gingerbreak or z4root like you suggested or via a hard root (I believe that is the term) such as superoneclick.
Which method is the best generally?
all of these methods give u root but some are just harder than the others. it only took me a minute to root my phone with z4root because all u have to do is press a button and it does the rest for u. I've never tried any of the other methods but I'd say z4root is the way to go

I am thinking about rooting my X10i so I can get the great apps that I have seen that are unfortunately limited to rooted phones only.
Can someone please be kind enough to answer these questions...
1. What is the quickest and easiest way to root my X10i on firmware R2BA026?
2. Will everything on my phone be deleted during rooting process?
3. Will I still be able to get future updates with SEUS or OTA like usual, or will I need to re-root each time.
4. What are the pros and cons of rooting?
5. Is there any well known problems when rooting with R2BA026 firmware? If so what are they and can they be resolved easily?
I think that's all for now
Also, if I cannot install updates via SEUS or OTA, is there anyway to have root access and still be able to do this? What would you recommend I do?
Thanks. Very much appreciated
Andy
Andy,
1. Universal androot application.
2. No, nothing change during rooting, all settings will be the same after, dont worry.
3.Yes, you are able to get updates, but after that you have to root your phone again. After 2.1 update no one knows if rooting can be done right away.
4. Pro: change fonts, delete default not used apps, install some apps requiring root access etc. cons: you have to be a bit careful when playing in the root settings of your phone, 1 mistake can let you flash your phone again and you have to start over from scratch.
5. No problems, just be careful.
6. All these answers are here on the forum already, when you search.

Thanks.
I did do a search, but there was so many rooting topics, so I didn't know which was the easiest to follow
My x10 mini is running Android 2.1, Build number is 2.0.1.A..0.47
I can't root the phone with z4root and superoneclick.
I need someone to help me please!!
re: help
what happens exactly?
Do a repair using SEUS and then use z4root. Very easy - can't go wrong.
1. Put the z4root file on the SD-card
2. Download Astro file manager (free version from android market) and install it.
3. Use Astro to locate z4root on your SD-card and install it
4. Open z4root
5. Choose root phone
6. Wait until the phone reboots
Finished!
I did it already, and I tried a lot of ways. Still not works.
Thx
Which version do you use of z4root? 1.2? 1.3? and can you tell me what happens when you try to root, with z4root.
I ask because I and lots of other user have no problem with the z4root, I only seen one user that had to wait for around 10 min before the phone restarted. But after that was the phone rooted.

This build is the same as x8's build and we can't seem to root it either.
One thing that you can do is revert to .504 build and use that

Please try this version 1.3 of z4root it should work for you (atleast do many reports says it will work for your firmware).
Better to try and fail, then never try at all
Unfortunately it doesnt work with this build.
Thanks for trying it! I will add a notice that it dont work on your firmware in my thread.

There is NO need for any ADB commands! you only need the z4root file and to download the ASTRO file manager (free version) from Android market. And then are you ready to start to root!
Just remember to put the z4root file on your SD-card.
I have an LG Optimus One ( LGP500 ) running 2.2 and I rooted it using the z4root tool, version 1.0. From what I saw, back then it didn't have an unroot option. In the meantime, I did an update using the LG Mobile Tool, and I think it updated my system to 2.2.2 .
I noticed that the newer versions of z4root have an unroot option, so I upgraded my z4root from 1.0 to 1.3, to try to unroot the phone ... but I only see the Temporary root and Permanent root options. I tried pressing the Permanent root and it seemed to do something, after which it returned me to my Home. From this, I'm drawing the conclusion that rerooting did not work. I am assuming z4root needs to root, so that the unroot option is available.
Is there anyway I could unroot my phone now?

since you have updated to 2.2.2 therfore z4root wont work on it .it requires version 2.2 to root u can go back to the 2.2 rom and then try z4root
Its already unrooted.

i mean to say that downgrade any try the option to unroot from 1.3 zroot
is n't there a way to temp root wildfire S running android 2.3.5 other than flashing custom recovery. Zergrush, motochopper, saferoot none work for me.
Zergrush : Hellions for BLUE flame -> seems vulnerability has been fixed
Motochopper give Bus Error when exlpoit pwn
safe root say kernel patch though my android version is 2.3.5
Any idea, howto temp root
Sounds like your version of 2.3.5 has the patch to stop that exploit. Pretty sure the only option is to unlock the bootloader via htcdev.com and use a custom recovery to install a custom rom or supersu/superuser. Not really understanding the reluctance to root normally? There are tons of ways to back up your info before needing to reset the phone and there are some MAJOR benefits on phone's like yours when using root access to help fix storage problems, among other things.
have you tried cydia impactor it will probably work if not try framaroot.

Thank you very much for the reply. The thing is reason behind the root. I am doing a university project which is a forensic tool for android. For the physical acquisition I want to root the device. The important thing is root should be forensically sound. It must made minimal change to the device and should not wipe out data/evidances. Thats why I am reluctant to root it in normal way.
Any way I am new to both rooting and forensic. Sir, may I know in your suggested way is it subjected to wipe out data, application caches etc.
As for the project resources I have Evo Desing (4.0.3), Wildfire S (2.3.5)

I don't know about the Roms, but have you tried KingRoot? Worked for me when nothing else would.
Kingroot is also failed plz help guyz
What did KingRoot say? Did you try more than once? Sometimes it's glitchy like that.
I use 10 more than
Come again? I did three and got root access.
Any other methods for rooting work for every models
There's always the difficult ADB way. Have you tried that method?
No I can't know??
Huh?
Kingroot is **** tokbe honest. If you cant root it the manual way just search a video on youtube how to root it or even on here. Alot safe. Kingroot takes all your personnal informations and do wathever the heck they want with it. If you are okay with that fine but id rather take 20 mins to root it the hard way and be sure everything is well done
