CM7 Camera Quality? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone notice that the CM7 camera on the vibrant is kinda grainy looking and not as good quality as the stock camera?

No, not really. It seems just as accurate and sharp as the samsung camera app.

yea my pics arent as clear

I know what you mean....I know the Samsung Camera is good especially Samsung manufacturing cameras themselves.
I love how the videocam at night doesn't start lagging and slowing like most phone cameras

sorry but i have to disagree on that one.
just install hdr camera+ or fxcamera problem solved

CM6 had great camera quality and feature set. does anyone know if/when CM7 will get those? i thought the recent kernel release would help in that aspect.

Exactly the words I had in mind.Even the alternative camera apps in the Market don't quite satisfy me.
But people,it's AOSP camera, not CM7 camera.CM has nothing to do with it.Although we can all agree it sucks anyway.
Um, yeah and its an AOSP camera. Just like everything in CM7 is AOSP. Just like everything has been modified, including the camera.
I think that warrants justification enough to call it 'CM7' camera.

Really?Holy cow,I didn't know they had modified it.I looked into it a little and only saw that AOSP camera is even worse.Just as fugly, but with less features.Way to go Google!
I hope ICS camera is usable for Christ's sake...

Anyone know how to improve camera performance?

So I did some searches online and on XDA and after not finding any conclusive evidence I thought I'd post the question. Anyone know good mods for camera performance and how to install them? maybe an app will do the trick?
Some of the alternate roms in the dev section have tweaks done to the camera and vid settings.
I'm not sure specifically what you are after but read the run down on unnamed rom and icscrewed rom.
I'm running unnamed right now and I feel the camera worsened

What do you mean by worsened?
Try messing with the metering modes and the iso's to see what works best for you. Also if you have shaky hands turn the anti-shake on.

I've wondered this too. The speed of click to save seems high. I was playing with a buddy's galaxy nexus and it seemed leaps and bounds faster in terms of click to photo.

yeah, the GS2 camera is not the fastest by any chance, especially when you compare it to the iphone 4s camera speed.

which camera mod is best?

Hi!
I would like to know which camera mod people think is the best regarding picture quality and the speed of the autofocus in darker conditions.
The two mods i am comparing is:
Jishnu's camera http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2471900&page=232 and
Xdadeb's camera/video http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2548974
I am only interested of opinions from whom have tried both.
Thank you for your opinion!
Try them both and see for yourself. I know that's probably the last thing you'd like to hear but tis true
