[Q] Bypassing Join/Merge 5 Contacts Limit? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I guess this may require some tinkering with the contacts.apk but is there anyway I can merge more than 5 contacts into a single contact?
Does anyone know if the stock android contacts app has this issue as well?

Bump, can anyone help? Surprised no-one else has raised this issue, does anyone know if 3rd party apps like GoContacts have this limit as well?

i know that's a good question, with the growing amount of email account and social network per person just limiting to just 5 seem unwise. Did they not expect expansion?

There's a mod for this in original android device forum, though not that easy to do

[Q] sort SMS by contact name

Hi guys, I hope you can tell me something.
I came from an Htc HD which obviously had Sense.
I was used to the fact that sms from contacts with multiple numbers were grouped by name.
So if John had more then one phone, and sent me messages from all his phones, they would all appear as John's messages (same thread).
Now I came to Android, I installed a number of different messaging apps, and none does the same.
Is it just me that needs such a feature?
Is it even possible on Android?
Go SMS Pro, Messaging, Handcent SMS, all show the exact same behaviour: a thread for each number!
So now my friend John has two or three threads, depending on which phone he has in his reach at the moment...
I can't believe I'm the only one that can't stand this...

Man... You think I'm stupid or you didn't read my post.
I HAVE single contacts with multiple numbers and still they appear as separate threads.

Same problem here
I'm on the HTC HD2 with a gingerbread rom, been bugged by the exact same problem for months. Seems all I can find are other people mentioning the problem, and no solution :/
Solution found?

[Q] JB Google MMS not threading

I'm currently using the Omega 26.1 build and love it.
The only thing is I hate the Samsung text/MMS app and wanted to replace it with the standard Google app now that Indie has released the JBKitchen app.
When I remove then replace the Samsung app texts from contacts aren't threading. My replies show in the individual messages but the replies from the contact come through as a new thread. If I switch back to the Samsung app they are all threaded as you would expect. This issue didn't happen when I was using the ICS rom as I could replace the app fine.
I've tried searching for this problem and although similar issues come up a fix doesn't seem to be evident.
Does anyone know about this issue and how to fix it?

Email Filters?

I just switched from a blackberry to the RazrHD...it's a world of difference!! On verizon with my BB, i was able to setup a filter to prevent certain work emails from being sent to my mobile device and i really need to get this setup. The stock email app does not seem to do this.
Do you guys have any recommendations on how or what to accomplish this?
THANKS!

[Q] Paid SMS/MMS app/service?

Hello!
Are there any apps/services for Android that you can pay separately for SMS/MMS usage? I have a work phone with limited amounts of texting and I'd like to not be so limited.
I have Google Voice but at least two people have complained about it sending messages out of order (when long texts are sent at once) and I have the same thing happen when I receive texts from them... except I also will often not get parts of their texts.
Help, please!
Have you looked at Whatsapp? I think of it as text messaging over the Internet. Low Cost ($1/year) but requires everyone you send to install the app. Works on IOS. Not sure if fits your needs.

Ah, yeah. I'm looking for more of an actual SMS/MMS app/service thingie. I don't want to make other people have to use a different program.
Thanks, though!

[Q] How do you solve group messaging/mms problems on the LTE version?

As the title suggests, I just discovered tonight after almost 2 weeks of having the Z3TC, I can't reply to group messages in the stock messaging app. When I respond to a message, it goes out individually to everyone and they hate me for not staying in the conversation. Any workaround or solution?
I heard and scoured the web, and basically I just read I need to download and use a different messaging app. This is unbelievable. It's almost 2015 and this tablet didn't come stock with this?
It's not a deal breaker for me, but darn, it is really annoying and gets my Z3TC made fun of. If I have to resort to a 3rd party app, anyone have any particular preference and why?
Many thanks.
Use the new Google messenger app or hangouts instead. The new Google Messenger app will probably become the new stock SMS app and it works great.
