[Q] trigger lockscreens - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm running the latest redux build and without paying close enough attention briefly had a lockscreen with several tiles that went to music messaging etc plus a weather widget. I have not seen it in any screenshot. It went away after a couple of timeouts by itself and I can't find it in any cm or trigger options. I had the stock music player open with an app called free music download also open. Thanks

Are you talking about the 4 tab lockscreen?

There was a single sliding tab with 5-6 icon sized tiles for direct links to various apps right off the lockscreen. There was a weather widget on it too. I've not been able to reproduce it. I have rotary revamp as my lockscreen, it appeared and disappeared within a couple of activations. The icons were similar to live tiles but smaller. It was interesting.

[Q] can you change this???

Not sure what its called but with the new TW update, there is a quick launch on the status bar with task, calender, world clock, pen memo, calculator, and music player.
My question is can you change these default apps to something else? and what is it called?
I do not believe so. What you will find is some of these can only be accessed by this bar or a widget. Task manager takes up alot of space on the home screen (widget wise.) So I find I'd prefer the mini app version in the mini launcher.
It would be nice if this evolve to be a row of mini apps and a row of quick access shortcuts to real apps.

Too Many Widgets, or too little RAM?

Is it possible to have too many widgets on a screen? I have no clue what I'm talking about here, but this is what is wrong. I've got my homescreen set up with Desktop Visualizer 1x1 widgets for my Semi Sense icons. There's nine of them, then my Battery Monitor Pro Widget, my aTAKEphONE widget, and then four regular icons to various programs. Every once in awhile one of my icons (not the Desktop Visualizer widget icons), namely the XDA icon, becomes a normal XDA icon, no longer one of my Semi Sense icons. I have to restart LauncherPro to get it to show the normal Semi Sense icon. Now, my aTAKEphONE widget is going blank. This is since the latest update of the program. It's there, but nonfunctional, the only way I can get it back is to go into the widget settings and back out, it shows up again. Probably two different issues, andI'm working with the aTAKEphONE developer, but I'm kinda wondering.....
If you've got this far, this is what I was thinking, that somehow I'm running out of memory on my Samsung Captivate, and things are getting bumped out of display memory - is that at all possible? I'm pretty sure these are two separate issues, the program was updated and something was changed, but the XDA icon changing is an ongoing problem. I appreciate any thoughts, I'm trying to learn here as I futz around.
Of course now that I've called the doctor it's fine but if I can get a screen shot I'll post it here.

Might want to give a diff launcher a shot as it is not unheard of for LP to have issues when one page is loaded with widgets.

S3 Lockscreen Customization (or using Ripple Effect Unlock in WidgetLocker)?

I absolutely love the ripple effect unlock on the S3 - But I kinda hate the lockscreen itself (bad quality image for the wallpaper, ugly clock, non-customized icons for shortcuts, etc...).
Does anyone have any ideas on how I could either customize the S3 lockscreen and use my own clock widgets and/or icons OR somehow get the ripple effect unlock over to my WidgetLocker screen...?
I'd probably just prefer to use the ripple unlock in WidgetLocker.

Not sure on this, widgetlocker is great, but I find it causes wakelocks which isn't helpful. I just wish there was a way to what shortcuts show on the stock lockscreen, and wish it showed todays calendar appointments. That would make it pretty close to perfect without dealing with widgetlockers battery drain issue.
Fwiw, I notice that widget locker constantly asks for your location in the permissions log... Not widget related as I had nothing on the screen just a slider. Guessing that is what causes the wakelock'ing

Awesome, thanks for that.... Now if we could only get Calendar appointments to display, maybe a dev will work it out. Although probably just use the AOKP / CM lockscreen if that's the case when the time comes.
Install water drops plus from the play store and choose whichever wallpaper you like to put under the water and you can use it with widget locker.. Maybe add a transparent slider for now also... That's the best thing I can think of

Disable automatic drops in settings so it only ripples on touch unless yu like it automatic.. Just play around with it..

Heh i sent the author of WidgetLocker an email the other day talking about this very thing....
I not only like the ripple effect but the slider itself being able to be used from ANYWHERE on the screen is nice.
Usually WidgetLocker is very good about adding features and fixing issues in the past.. the only reason I can see him not being able to do something like this would be due to restrictions with the OS itself.
As for the suggestion on waterdrops.. that's great if you don't already use a LiveWallpaper If you use a Livewallpaper like I do, you cannot have 2 of them running at once (one for the lockscreen and one for the normal phone operation).

Widgets on Android

Just how many of you droid users use widgets and do they serve you or phone any benefit to your usage.
Also what ones do you use.
And use i have an s3 and use some widgets.
I think this should belong to the android general forum... But I may be wrong.
Anyhow, I only use widgets that actually make my life easier. For example, the bookmarks widget saves me time to browse webs I often use. Metoffice gives me the weather on my home screen, and other toggles like flashlight and turn all sounds off can be done via the home screen without venturing into the abyss of settings

Quite a lot, I suppose. Except those who worry too much about their battery lives.
My widget-setup is pretty basic: big clock screen on the home page, google now toolbar, music player widget and a forecast widget.
Music player on homescreen (big) and lockscreen (small), calendar widget to check / edit upcoming events, UCCW with camera + clock / alarm settings + favorite contacts.
I just got one widget on my home screen which is the calendar widget (agenda view), not because of any battery saving, just because I do not use any others.
My music is controlled via headset (as I only listen over it), my profiles (loud, vibrate alarm etc.) are controlled via tasker, the clock I can see in the notification bar, controls for WiFi, Bluetooth etc. are in the notification drawer.
I would even say that I use the notification bar much more than I ever used widgets.
dont use those things a lot.
Great benefit...
Facebook, Twitter (Android pro widgets)
G+, email (stock widgets)
Calender (jorte widget)
weather clock (beautiful widget)
System tuner pro & Battery pro widgets
Audio control widget.
Using Greenify and temasek CM10.1 ROM and kernel. Battery life is way better than any Sammy ROM

I'm mostly the standard big clock with weather, music player, search bar and full screen S planner. Been tempted to throw a flipboard one on though.

ViperOne AOSP Lockscreen Help

Finally flashed the ViperOne Rom last night!! I haven't had a lot of time to play around with it yet but I was able to enable the AOSP lockscreen; however, I'm only seeing a lock widget on the right hand side of the bubble. How do I add other shortcuts/widgets to the bubble like text messages, email, Pandora, etc. so it opens right to the app when I slide and unlock? It says Widgets are enabled in the settings but I'm not sure how to add them.
To add widgets, press and hold on the one visible widget near the top: probably a clock. That should expand the widget to full screen. Now swipe left to get to a new blank screen, with a plus in the middle. Click the plus to start adding a new widget. Widgets take a full screen when expanded.
I haven't yet figured out how to add shortcuts; let me know if you did!
