Hi to all,
I'm looking for a new tablet but don't now which is the best for a reasonable price.
I'm owning a Flytouch 3 but can't get used to the resistive screen (i'm used to the capacitive screen of my HTC Desire-S)
So my question , wich one is the best , cheapest and of course can be rooted ?
Nook colour looks promising, Very reasonable price,
Has its own XDA section too

I don't know what reasonable price means for you, but Motorola Xoom is a great tablet

Nobody else got one ? strange , am i in the wrong section here ?
Its just your question is more of a personal choice thing. I have the Asus Tf. To me its a good tablet at a decent price, but to another person it might not be. If you're able go to a place that carry a few different brand and play with them.
baseballfanz is right its a personally opinion. Me personally I like the HTC Flyer. I have and EVO 4G and I am a sense junkie so it fits me. Price isn't too bad either. like $599.99 plus tax for one without a contract. Its not very big only 8" i think but thats big enough for me.
I'm looking for one to, which is better Samsung or HTC?
advent vega
i have a advent vega good cheap tablet got mine rooted and running android 3.1 and as far as i am aware it can run android 3.3 so go for that
pcpro.co.uk/reviews/smartphones/363172/advent-vega
from the above website
The Advent Vega is one of the more interesting tablets to appear in the run-up to Christmas. Priced at £250 inc VAT and sold exclusively through Dixons Group stores such as PC World, it includes a 10.1in capacitive touchscreen, a 1GHz Nvidia Tegra processor, 512MB of RAM and, crucially, Android 2.2.
I recommend the Asus EEE Transformer. It gets Android updates faster than any other device I've ever seen. It's responsive, and if you buy the dock keyboard, it has full SD and USB support. Without it, you still get a MicroSD slot and HDMI. Honestly, best featured tablet I've ever seen. I switched from my iPad for it.
if you must have a sd slot, get the motorola xoom, it's been rated as one of the best tablet, but if you dont need the sd slot, go for the galaxy tab 10.1.
i'm considering either the galaxy tab 10.1 or 8.9, both out at the moment, or wait for the galaxy tab 7.7, i have till end of december to decide.
the chances is, it should be the galaxy tab 7.7, because of the super amoled plus screen and built in sd slot that i want.
I have been looking at Tablets for literally a month and I havent made up my mind yet. I was originally looking at the Thrive, but changed my mind since it is really flimsy. Then I thought about getting the transformer but realized its really only huge sell point(to me) was the keyboard, which I wouldnt be getting. Then I was completely sold on the Xoom, and I almost bought it but decided to wait.. 2 days after waiting I starting looking at the 10.1 galaxy tab. So now Im torn between the Xoom and galaxy tab. Any advice would be real nice. I like that google bought moto, means the xoom will get updates sooner than any, but I like touchwiz(aside from the noticeable tag when changes pages). samsung has THE best screen out there and its thin and light. But the xoom is build more solidly and is more sturdy. They are like opposites while still being the same product so I am just stuck... lol
I've also have been looking for a while now and yesterday i ordered the motorola xoom , i've read a lot of reviews about a lot of tablets , and the xoom is still the best i think (will post if testing is done).I know motorla is working on a second xoom , but couldn't wait anymore
Just wondering what the tablet demographics of the people buying the prime are.
I don't have a tablet so this will be my first one! Was initially going to get the original but with the craziness at launch I just didn't have the time and effort to get one so I ended up buying a sweet BBQ instead.
never made a poll here before so hopefully i get it right..
edit. well that was easy!
I bought a G Tablet in November last year and had it for a couple of months. It was OK, ran well, but it was clunky and the screen sucked. I was also really disappointed at the lack of HDMI output. I don't think I'll be let down by this sleek beauty.
This'll most likely be my first tablet.
I'm playing the waiting game, to see how the first production batch works out, then I'll probably pick one up.
I've waited this long because I believe that Android really needs the power of a quad-core behind it, to really shine on a tablet implementation.
I have the Transformer, wich is my first and only tablet. I'm loving it, especialy for the dock and the overall expérience, the support from Asus and the enthousiasm from the community.
But It's not perfect, just like the first ipad, iPhone, Nexus one and every first génération of a great product.
So I'm going to buy the Prime cause I think it's a big leap forward, then sell my dear Transformer to someone else (maybe for chrismass if I get the Prime before).

I'm interested in getting the Transformer Prime (not that they're even up for preorder here yet), but I've never had a tablet before. I'm not sure where a tablet would fit into my life, but with the dock it becomes an Android netbook with a tablet option, which seems like a much more viable PC companion to me.
Currently own TF1 and pre-ordered TF2. TF1 was my first real tablet. Before that I had 7" Galaxy Tab but did not use it much. I also own Ipad 2, which I have only used once and did not like it. On the other hand I love the TF1 specially due to the dock and the convenience of use. One thing that it lacked (for me at least) was the support of high def movie playback and now that Tegra 3 has fixed the issue, it is definitely worth getting.
This will be my first tablet. Was going to buy the TF in the late summer and decided to wait for the Prime.
I have a Motorola Xoom & I will bepicking this baby up pronto lol..here's some vids i saw today...

I am buying mine because it looks like a fancy toy that I can spend some time on.
I'm overall new to tablets but the Prime looks like one great device I can't pass up. The dock brings a full qwerty keyboard, extra battery and the usb port witch makes it more then a big phone (imo). It also gives me something to do when my girl friend plays the Sims
This will be my fourth tablet. First was a Dell Streak, Viewsonic G Tablet, and Motorola Xoom.

I have an OG ipad, TF101 and will be getting the TFP. I rarely use the ipad anymore and my wife just got an ipad2 yesterday.
Love the OG transformer. Other than the initial dock battery issue I love this it. Its great for everyday use and has given me almost every reason to not have a netbook anymore. When I'm on the road all i need is something to browse XDA and techblogs mostly and pounding out a few emails here and there.
With the TFP I'm really hoping that the gaming market will increase. I have all the consoles at home but last time i really logged into my ps3 was about 5 months ago. I dont have too much time to game anymore but i love the fact that i can pick up my tablet and practically leave off where i ended last time. I'm just hoping for more games.
This will be my first tablet. I've been drooling over the first transformer (I want a mobile device for media, a bit of note-taking, and fun), but I had to get the money. By the time I got it the prime was due to come out... So i waited !
Kindle fire was/is my first tab.
I wanna get the tp. But I got Christmass for a family to deal with

This will be my first tablet. I've been waiting the market out for a while as well as the release of the one Android OS to rule them all - ICS.
What will be interesting is that my wife has an iPad2 so I'll have the opportunity to contrast and compare first hand.
This will be my first tablet. iPad just didn't do it for me.
I have a SmartQ T10 which I bought for roughly 150pounds after exchange when I was in China for business.
It was a test that to see if I have any use of a tablet, looks like I will need one for many years to come.
I currently have a ViewSonic gTablet, rooted and running Honeycomb 3.0. It is a good low-cost yet quite capable tablet, but the viewing angle limitations on the screen and lack of ongoing support from ViewSonic are cause for me to consider another tablet.
Looking forward to the Prime!
This is my third tablet, having initially bought an Advent Vega (to test out if I would even have a need for a tablet) which was then followed by a first generation transformer. My wife will be getting my transformer to replace her iPad which she sold. While undoubtedly the latter is a more slick device, it was ultimately too limiting for her (coming from her laptop with its higher resolution display therefore involving less scrolling and due to the lack of flash which she needed mostly to display products on some of the shopping sites she frequents). She wasn't that keen on Android at first because it felt 'too different' but I think she's come around to the flexibility.

Oops. Can I change my vote? lol I forgot I had a rooted Nook Color. No need to change though as this will be my first real tablet that was meant to be a tablet.
I'm considering selling my Galaxy Tab and buying the prime. Right now I can get about $500 for my Galaxy on ebay (mint condition, 32 gb) and am considering it just because its something new, but also because i don't want to get left behind with older technology. Now is probably the last time I can get this much for my tablet so I figure I should upgrade while I can.
Has anyone made the same switch? What are some reasons to do it or not to?
Thanks
Do you use the GPS on your gtab? If yes, then no...as the Prime GPS is borked.
Do you want to play 1080p videos? Do you want a keyboard dock? What about ICS and overall speed? If yes, and you don't want a GPS, then it would definitely be worth it.
Go for it I say if you really want the best Tablet out with a quad-core and ICS starting next week. Yeah sure, if you wait they'll be better ones out later in the year but that's the same with anything from Cars to whatever.
I've made (or am attempting to make) the transition. I sold off my Tab at the beginning of December in expectation of getting the Prime not long after... but then thanks to one pack of lies after another Best Buy decided to cancel my preorder and now I'm waiting. And waiting. And waiting.
I personally think it'll be very worth it, but then I was never too happy with the bluetooth keyboard solution and I'm looking forward to the keyboard dock. That and what I really wanted a tablet for was media consumption and the 10.1 wouldn't play my 1080p MKVs without stuttering.
So... it depends on what you use your tab for now. But for basically everything but GPS I think you'll be happy upgrading to it.
If your grab 10.1 does everything you want it to do then I'd say hold off and wait for other tabs to come. ICS will come to grab 10.1 ICS just a matter of time

I sold my GT right before Christmas and my Prime is due to be delivered today. (Yes I've been going through tablet withdrawal for the past few weeks).
I LOVED my GT. Other than the Newton Rings issue, the device was flawless from a hardware standpoint and performed very well overall. I had zero complaints.
At the time, I made the decision to do it b/c the Prime has some pretty impressive specs and being a technology fiend, I can't sleep at night if I don't have the latest and greatest cutting edge devices... if they're special. Also, I was able to sell it at a price where I was able to upgrade to the prime for the cost of a few best buy reward zone points. After reading about all of the hardware issues (wifi/bluetooth, wifi in general, GPS) I'm a little less thrilled that I sold my GT.
With that said, regardless of whether or not I end up completely satisfied with my Prime I think I will be set up to upgrade to another device in the not so distant future if I'm not completely satisfied with the Prime. Similarly to how I moved from the GT to Prime for very little cost.
So in the end, I don't think you can go wrong by selling the GT. You may/may not be completely happy with your Prime, but you may set yourself up for getting the next big thing. (Google's Galaxy Tablet?)
I sold my Galaxy Tab 10.1 32gb on gray color. I will write the Pros and Cons of buying the prime:
Pros
-I like the screen much better, specially if you use it outdoors.
-You have microsd, and microhdmi ports so you can easily expand your storage and connect to a TV.
-It charges super fast, from 0% to 100% in only 2 1/2 hours, with my GTab I needed around 5 hours.
-It's smoother
-Better graphics with the new Tegra games
-$100 cheaper
-The camera is very good compared to the Galaxy Tab 10.1
-Possibility to expand with the dock
CONS:
-It's harder to hold when you play games, The Galaxy Tab 10.1 has rounded edges and it's a bit lighter that's why it feels better if U use it for games
-FOR NOW it's easier to flash Roms and Kernels on the galaxy tab 10.1
I don't have any WiFi issues but the GPS takes longer to lock
i did just that and i regret nothing.
the prime just feels much better in hand and does everything better aside from a true gps lock.
I sold my GTab 10.1 16GB for $440 locally last month, and got Prime for $492.
Worth doing it, 2 reason.
1. GTab will not have this kind of resale value once every other tablet in the market is quad core.
2. You want the latest and greatest all the time.. right? right? right?
GTab already has a mostly functional CM9, so ICS should not be in your consideration.
consider working GPS and probably better wifi on the Gtab vs better processor and dock with extra battery on the prime
the dock is really the #1 thing about the prime I think. with all the problems people are listing about the prime I would have already cancelled my order if not for the dock. If I don't have a dock, I don't think I want a tablet at all.
hi everyone
I was going to buy it asus transformer but I found a tab 10.1 16gb for 300 $ new with warranty
my problem is there is no expansion slot on tab 10.1 and keyboard is nothing like asus transformers keyboard also im moving up from ipad 1 I wanna know is the display better in resolution and color.
is it better than the transformer ?
should I buy the tab or no ?
tnx
sure why not?
Sure why not? I like mine!
I would. Why not? Its an awesome tablet with lots for roms to choose from.
Yes, get it. I just got one a few days ago for a similarly good price. You won't regret it. It is an amazing piece of hardware.
I have one, and honestly, I think you would be better off either
A) Buying the "New" iPad
B) Wait for the Galaxy Tab 11.6
$300 is a pretty good price for the Tab, amazing actually, but I have been disappointed owning this Tegra 2 Tab. It's sluggish on transitions, and laggy at times, MANY MANY force closes. People here my say different, but I would wait for that Exynos powered 11.6.
Also, the iPad 3 is a STUNNER. I used one for 2 days before having to give it back :'( and all I can say is wow. The usability is just awesome, although I do prefer some features you get an an Android tab.
Haven't seen a Transformer up close so I can't compare it but I'd put the GT 10.1 display between the iPad 2 and newer iPad. New iPad screen is just fantastic.
Comes down to personal choice really; for me $300 sounds like a great price and I'd drop that with little thought if I was in the market for a new tablet. For others $300 might be a significant amount to spend.
On the flip side, if you check the local used market and aren't seeing things cheaper it might be worth it to buy the tablet, use it for a bit, and then sell it used if you don't like it. I can't see the value of it dropping much lower than $300 with things like the Kindle Fire out there selling for $200.

I wouldn't suggest buying another tablet but I would wait for something like the 11.6 the real ipad killer which would be awesome, because in all honesty when you see that beast you will forget about the 10.1 then again its still tba

I was in the same boat as you trying to decide. I even went against everything I believe in and decided to try the iPad and could only take it for 24 hrs and took it back. It was not for me and I wanted to like it so much, I thought I could have the best of both worlds, android and Apple since I have a S2 and original Galaxy Tab. But, I took it back and got the Tab 10.1 even though the Transformer Prime was calling my name, its a beautiful beast of a device and they support their tabs with great update support unlike Samsung, but I chose the Tab because I knew XDA would not let me down, so I bought it 2 days ago, and rooted it last night with some ice cream love.

^ I actually thought of the same thing, The only reason I chose the 10.1 over the Transformer (Not prime) was because they mentioned the transformer wasn't on the chart for getting the ICS update. However Transformer Prime does pike my interest, may add it to the collection over time. Sexy beast indeed. fapfapfapfpafafp
I am looking to change my original iPad, and thinking of the asus prime transformer, new iPad and tab 10.1. After using a galaxy S2 for six months I am really interested in the tab, however it looks a bit outclassed by the new iPad.
What would you guys recommend in my situation?
I got mine for free from Google through work. While I do like it, I would not have purchased one myself. I'd rather take the money and put it towards an ultra book. But it definitely does suffice for just web browsing, music, and as my alarm clock.
Problem is there is no such thing as ultra book, where I felt the 10.1 was at it's prime supremacy, there came the 11.6 and the Transformer Prime, FML.

there is no overkilling tablet .
pro ipad 3: best display and performance, many apps, ebooks, music etc.
contra ipad 3: apple..., expensive
pro transformer prime: best performance on an android tablet, good asus update politics
contra transformer prime: bad availability, expensive, no 3g yet
pro galaxy tab 10.1: good perfomance, stylish design like a well known apple product, open bootloader --> many custom roms, priceless
contra galaxy tab 10.1: bad update politics of samsung, haptics because of the missing gorilla glas aren't sooo good, accessoirs (hdmi, sd card, usb) only via dock connector
i think the galaxy tab 10.1 will be get an enormous speed increase with the upcoming ics firmwares from samsung (hardware acceleration is still missing, release maybe in may '12)
if you have the money take the quad cpu asus transformer prime otherwise the galaxy tab 10.1 will be a solid device for the next 1-2 years.
an 11.6 inch tablet isn't a rival to the ipad 3 i think. the ipad has the optimal size and weight, the galaxy tab 10.1 is the absolute maximum size for me. bigger sizes wouldn't be handy for the couch and a traveling with the tram or train. but that is my own opinion

499 for an iPad is not expensive, it is inline with competition. IMHO, Google and the companies really fudged up with Tablets. It is totally different with phones, you almost have to go Apple with the tablet and Android with phones. That's what I plan on doing.
I somewhat agree, tablet wise Apple would be nice, then again Apple has horrible tablet support, they're more focused on the phones.
Not sure if you can really call it trading up. Yes the hardware is better and all, but my 32GB TP was a great deal ($130 after my discounts and stuff).
Anyway, I'm think I can break even or lose a little if I put it up for sale (it's in mint shape with everything).
You guys think its worthwhile to trade it for a $250 tablet? I'm getting the 16GB from Gamestop because they are taking trade-ins for some stuff that I have (iPods and games) and giving an extra 30%. Can't beat that!
Thoughts on moving to a 7in tab? I already have a Galaxy Nexus and I've been trying to find side by side comparison with the two together. Not sure if it'd be too redundant to have those 2 devices....
I'm tempted to do the same. But whenever I use a Nook or Fire I don't think I want that size. I wish I could get my hands on the Nexus 7 and JB. The software may just make it worth it, but its almost half the size, and I mostly use it for web browsing.
Hands down I would say the Nexus 7 mops the floor with any of the 7" devices out there. I wonder is Google is too afraid to lose to the iPad to make a 10" Nexus. If it does bad they can say the 7 doesn't compete with the iPad, but you can't say that with one the same size.
Sent from my Galaxy S II
There are rumors that they will come out with another 10" tablet this fall. Not sure what they would do to differentiate it. Right now there are some decent 10" tablets, but other than a cameras they aren't much better speced than the touchpad.
I too am on the fence, 7" is just so small for what I use my tablet, surfing and games. If you wanted something truly portable it might be right though.

personally I really love the 7" size.
7" seems to be the perfect size, even with my huge hands I still have problems playing games on my touchpad lol. I really want to pick one up

I concur with this—my girlfriend has a Fire and, while Amazon has done a nice job with it, I find the size too small for what I use a tablet for—though the size is probably ideal for reading electronic books. For on the go stuff, I use my Galaxy Nexus—for couch surfing, simple email and personal travel, I really prefer the 10-inch tablet.
I just put in a pre-order for the Nexus 7. It's too tempted considering the trade-in deals I got from Gamestop.
So I'll wait and see...
And our TP isn't even really a 10" tab... So it really doesn't help my cause of having a device that's only 2 inch smaller.
Just ordered me a 16gb model. I still plan to keep my TouchPad (I would never abandon it) and use it more as a CrapperPad or for other random uses.
I'm just getting tired of games and apps not working properly for the TouchPad. It's been a hell of a fun ride with it, but it's time to move on.
I was looking forward to sell my TP and buy nexus 7,but im not sure yet, because i love TP size and speakers. Just wait till nexus 7 official release, watch more reviews and then decide. If 7" screen is not problem for you then it's a good deal.
I say go for it. I read the review on cnet and it sounds cool.
I think it's great. Especially since it's a nexus. I was gonna go for one but I think everyone is selling their touchpads on ebay which has reduced their value to the point where it's not worth selling.
