Reader App - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

I really like the way the the scribe pen can be used in the reader app. I was going to convert some of my ebooks to a format that can be read using the reader app. However, I have not been able to find the folder where the reader looks for books. The kindle and nook readers both user a folder on the sdcard called kindle and nook. I didn't find anything that looked like a folder for the reader. Does anybody know where it looks for ebooks?

It's called digital-editions or something like that (located in the main directory)

On my HTC View I just created a folder in the root of the internal memory caled ebooks and put the books in that folder, and then the reader found them automatically.

I tried make a folder "Digital Editions" in sdcard and its work fine.
Put your books with ePUB format in that folder and restart the device...

Reader automatically imports all epub files from the sdcard.

Yes, I've gotten that, too. I am signed in with it, but I can't connect properly to the (Kobo) store through the Reader app. I ended up installing the Kobo app, which I buy books through, and then they show up as ready to download in the Reader app. The latest update might have fixed all this, though--haven't tried to buy a book in several weeks.

I have this problem too. Its a shame, the app seemed promising.
Also the full fledged kobo app won't work for me either.

What is the best way to transfer files from my Android phone to my Tab 10.1?

I have a Nexus S phone and a Galaxy Tab 10.1. What would be the best way to transfer files between the two devices directly? I've been using Dropbox for the occasional file but I need to move a good number of files quickly. Any ideas or app suggestions?
Get the USB adapter for the Tab, plug in a mulit-card reader, and stick the Micro SD card from your phone in that.
Or just use Bluetooth File Transfer:
https://market.android.com/details?id=it.medieval.blueftp
For simple, small file it is recommended to use Bump. Its kinda fun and available for other platforms as well.
For larger, quick file transfer, it is up to you to transfer data using usb cable connecting to a single pc. If you have a wifi connection between the devices, you are free to use any wifi transfer software in the market. FTP function come 2nd to that.

If theyre both on wifi, i recommend using an app called websharing. You can turn websharing on on one device and type in the ip of that one in the browser of the other device and access files. Pretty convenient. Been transferring stuff from my vibrant to my gtab with no problems. Not too fast but certainly one of the easiest ways right now
how about dropbox .. check my signature ... thats how i transfer files from tablet to phone to Mac to PC .. etc

I've been using Dropbox as well to transfer albums and large pdfs from Mac/Nexus One to SGT as there's no other way to turn the SGT into a MSD on Mac. Websharing sounds like an interesting way to cut out the middle man. Thanks.

[Q] Honeycomb music and photos not loading from ext_sd

I have searched through the forums and am not coming up with much. I just followed globatron's guide on installing honeycomb on my flyer and everything appears to be working fine. However when i go into either the music or the gallery app, it is not showing any of the music or photos from my SD card. Ive also tried flashing flyhoney v1.0 and am still getting the same problem.
When i run Astro or ES File Explorer, i am able to find the music and play from there just fine, it just never shows up in the lists inside each app.
Has anyone else come across this issue? If so what was the fix for this?
Don't think its a HC issue. I can't see my music on SD card with GB either, or am I just stupid?

Not sure, everything was working fine. Rooted and ran stock for a bit with no issues. then after updating to honeycomb is where i ran into this issue.
Im currently going through the process of reverting back to complete unrooted stock to see if that clears it up, then i may try again. In the meantime it would be great if there is a good solution to this.
kinda remember there is a folder scan stuff shall be changed in the apk
but i forgot rest of the story
I remember that I had the problem when I first installed HC with Gloatrons guide, Power Amps folder scan would not return any music files... I un-installed Power Amp, re-installed and all was fine.... also weird is on my Desire S running lastest MIUI rom when I upload a foto to Facebook it disappears in the Pic folder under albums... but still is there as a thumbnail using Root Explorer... just a weird thing, I guess!

Try going into settings and unmounting your external then remount . let disk scan. If it is still not showing then use a file explorer app and navigate to a picture and select. Once

Tried that and am able to see all photos in file explorer (both ES and Astro), still nothing in the gallery app. Same thing happens with the music app. I thought it may be something with the stock apps, but the google music app doesnt see the music either.
Been letting the tablet sit at the "searching for music. please wait..." message for quite some time and nothing seems to happen. Does anyone know if maybe there is a music storage database somewhere that may just need to be cleared?
After reverting back to GB it works, so i thought i would try going to HC again today. followed the guides exactly. even did a clean wipe both before and after flashing. Still the same issue.
I know my ext sd has occasionally unmounted itself on honeycomb.

Mind putting the APK up again? The link's dead...
I do prefer Indirect's set-up, but I can't access my screenshots through the 3D Gallery.

If you ever lose a system app again, you can do an "adb push" from your computer. Just download the firmware and unzip it and you will find the files you need. Getting the file posted can be easier but not having to wait for someone to respond can be quicker.

Related question... when I try to add an attachment to an email the "My Media" is the only option remotely close to being able to browse for a file - how do I replace it with (or simply add) a real file browser?
Also, where can I put a file so that it actually shows up in My Media???
Couldn't you just use ES Explorer or any file manager with root access and reinstall the gallery.apk located in "System\App"?
Or maybe I'm missing something.

Is that the Nook Gallery ("My Media") or the standard Android Gallery app?
I'm trying to replace the crappy and very limited Nook one...
Would I just install another gallery to replace the My Media?
EDIT: I just clicked on it and chose install, I guess it IS the "My Media". Have you used "My Media"? I want something like a regular browser that let's me attach files (when sending emails) other than just the pictures that come with the NT.... Also would like a gallery type browser in addition to the Root Browser I have installed...
With Enhanced Email, I can attach any type file from anywhere using Gallery, My Media, Quickoffice, sound recorder or any of my file managers.
help?

Media not being found on ext_sd

I just flashed Westfire ROM 3.0 and the media files on my ext-sd are not being detected.
\sdcard\ext_sd\Music\song.m4a etc.
Or
\sdcard\ext_sd\DCIM\100MEDIA\ etc.
I can see everything in Root Explorer but neither Music, Google Music, or Gallery see the appropriate files.
Any clues for me?

Another option you might try is to use ES File Explorer or a similar program. Go to the folders where your pictures and the music are, and create into this folder a new one. Don't put any files in this folder! Just rename the created folder in .nomedia and reboot with fastbootmode ( in the energy settings) disabled.
I had similar problems once with an Archos 70 Internettablet, and this was the solution that worked for me.....

There's some mysterious bug regarding how the media scanner is triggered in some of the ROMs, I think... if you keep telling media scanner to run again and again, eventually it twigs that there's music.
i've never had this problem...until i read this thread...and then a day later it happened to me too

Pictures but no music - Evo View
I have an Evo View. I have about 3GB of MP3s on my sdcard. I've been unable to update my music library. I've tried creating a .nomedia folder in the folder where my music files are. I rebooted with fastboot disabled. But my library is still empty. If anyone has any other ideas, please share.

I believe the .nomedia file/folder tells android to exclude the folder from media players. So I'd delete this.
Then I'd unmount the sd card, and mount it again.
Go to file explorer, find your media and click a song to play. It should play fine.
On the mount it should recognize your media in the default music player. I just tried it and worked on my gingerbread rom. You might have to do a restart to get it recognized. But on HC or GB, this worked for me.
There's an app called rescan media on the market that you can run instead of restarting. Just run it after you mount the sd card.
I use poweramp to play my music and it finds my sdcard fine. It has different equalizers setup and sounds great. Plus you can choose where you media files are located. This makes it easy to setup your music files on the external sd card. But that costs a few bucks.

Maybe.
The problem is an incorrect link in the filesystem. Instead of link to a file, it link to another link.
The problematic file is sqlite3 in directory /system/xbin. You must find somewhere this file and replace the link.

The files I want to read are for my school. I have a password for them but no programs allow me to view them on my tablet. I want to be able to read them on the go. You can't remove the password with a pdf reader. Adobe Acrobat allows you to remove the password and make the change permanent. Of course, Acrobat is not free. However, the pdf reader/viewer you are using should be prompting you to enter the password. Once entered, you should be able to view the file. Worst case? Download Adobe's own reader app from the play store.
Maybe try this program http://www.pdfpasswordremover.com/

Your original post stated that you wanted to be able to read the pdf files. I've got password-protected files on my phone and tablet. Installed the Adobe reader app on both and it works like a champ. Yes, if you really want to edit and modify pdf files then you do need to look elsewhere. Not trying to bust your chops, but you need to be more exact in your post so your time and others are not wasted.

+1 adobe reader works fine for me when reading password-protected files
It has to do with the DRM security of it. So found this program a couple of weeks ago and never got it to work properly as far as being able to unlock the book called PDF factory. It was a simple matter of print to file using adobe and printing to the program. Then it opens in PDF factory reader and I save as. It is a free trial version so it leaves a tiny watermark with a link to their website at the bottom of each page.
