Hot Desert for HTC weather animation - HTC EVO 3D

Does anyone know how hot it has to be for the hot desert animation to show for the HTC weather? Or how windy it needs to be for that animation to show?

Lol, good question. I live in the desert, and its been upwards of 114 and have yet to see that desert animation. It will always default to the sunny one, or partly cloudy instead. Its also been quite windy before, and have yet so the windy one either.

Weird I got it on 104 & on the clock, the sun is wavy.
You don't want to meet the conditions, outside. I hate this heat wave.
The irony is that the desert is a dry heat & ours was a humid hell. So it didn't quite fit, not to mention we are in a grassy suburb.
Now I never once got the cold/icy on my Hero or OG EVO & it was at 0 degrees one time, you probably have to be in sub 0 temps.

102 didn't trip it.

I was in Vegas last week and got the desert animation at 106. No clouds in the sky and little to no humidity... not sure if that makes a difference.

I saw it once, but it wasn't really that hot, just hot for that time of year. I think it is dependent upon the weather service to choose to call a particular set of conditions "Hot." There may be something on Accuweather's web site, since that is the data behind the weather on the 3D.

[Q] [App]MyWater Live wallpaper Battery Gauge

I have posted this before with not much luck, but I think it would be pretty useful for Thunderbolt users if we can get this to work.
MyWater Live Wallpaper is a live wallpaper created by ASUS for their tablet devices.
Ascetics are quite pleasing with;
-A few pieces of ice floating on top of the water live wallpaper.
-The water moves with the movement of the phone, and bubbles appears where you touch the screen and float upwards.
-The cool thing about this app is that the water level rises and sinks in correlation with the battery level.
The app can be installed on the HTC Thunderbolt, and it does work as a battery gauge/live wallpaper. However what I can not figure out is how to correct the ice and bubbles. They show up on the live wallpaper as a white box.
I am not a dev, but I have messed around with the .apk and changed image resolutions, and edited the .xml files. But I still can not get this to work properly. It would be pretty awesome if someone who knows what they are doing could fix this.
Again, I am not the developer of this live wallpaper. I am just trying to get this ported to our devices.
Attached is a picture of what the Live wallpaper looks like on the Xoom tablet.
This wallpaper would be awesome working correctly. I run an ASUS laptop so I can appreciate their work. Too bad the water level will drop at a faster rate using it, lol. I'm going to take a look at it and see what I can do. Fingers crossed.
Yeah I wish someone would get this working

I was able to get the live wallpaper to work without the ice cubes, but it just isn't the same.... The two things I would love to see is this working properly, and a MIUI for the thunderbolt.

Any luck so far?
It's been mentioned before, but try liquid battery, it's in the market and of you play with the colors and transparency it is pretty realistic.
And I'm all honesty I don't notice any real hit in battery either.

Rom in 3D :-O

Has anyone else experienced when taking a 3D pic and you lock your phone and then unlock, the weather animation is in "3D mode" although it does not pop out or nothing due to it being just a single 2D image looks like if we unlock this puppy (by unlock i mean S off) we may be able to create a 3D lock screen I dont care to make an entire rom in 3D but the lockscreen in 3D would be nice. Anyone willing to look into this with me?

I wouldn't say 45 minutes. 1.5 hours, however....
That would be cool. And the idea has been through around a few times. But yeah, battery would be pretty bad. Also, the parallax barrier isn't arrange to do portrait properly I don't think. Im pretty sure its aligned to only do landscape. If you notice when you view a 3d pic in portrait your viewing angle is like 2degrees and it still doesn't look quite right.

Right. It would technically work, but it would look like crap. I don't think its worth the effort. Maybe a launcher that turns into 3D when viewed in landscape mode? Or a toggle to turn the display from 2D to 3D. Hopefully all this will be possible if the devs here can unlock the bootloader.
I would love to have it 3D, like in the commercials. I feel like I got short changed when I turn on my phone and the home screen isn't jumping out at me. Now that would shut up the iphone geeks.

Hey, now there is a thought. a mod that would use the 2D-3D switch on the phone that is dedicated to just the camera, hack that so it turns 3D on once the phone goes into landscape mode. You know, like what everyone thought the 3D switch was for in the first place! hack it up and name it "the ORIGINAL 3D switch" or something.
Also, something I have been thinking about (which isn't possible I don't think but, it SHOULD have been something incorporated.)
the phones have a tilt sensor. why wasn't the parallax barrier linked to that in some way, so whenever the phone is tilted from it's centered calibration, the PB would adjust in real time to the new position. voila!, good bye narrow 3D viewing angle.
Sounds interesting but the barrier is a physical thing more than it is software or am I wrong

most definitely is a physical thing, which is why it wouldn't really be possible now that the phone is released. cool idea none the less.
I had this happen to me and everything in the launcher had 3d-ish effect to it even the app drawer. It was pretty neat but eventually it went away.
Looking at the screen while in the sun you can actually see the parallax barrier..... What I saw was a uniform grid
So technically the only reason 3d couldn't function properly in portrait would be because of the lack of real estate to trick your eyes..
Bussin Caps n 3D
The grid was like 10x5

How hot is too hot?

I was just wondering, how hot is too hot for the battery? Like at what temp does it start to get dangerous ie cause physical damage to the phone

i'm trying to remember how hot my EVO got last summer around when i saw that bright spot on the screen issue .. i want to say above 100F i would start paying closer attention.
right now mine is sitting at 88.8F after charging over night. i'll keep watching and see how the temperature ranges. i really haven't paid much attention.
i know gaming can be intensive and run up the temperature. on the CDMA version, a weak signal can also run up the temperature.
i haven't heard too much about over heating issues with this device yet. hopefully they weren't be many issues!
edit: i used the free batterylife widget from the android market to monitor the temperature. idk how *accurate* it is but it seems to function pretty decently over the last few android devices i've owned.
I live in Texas and we have this thing they are calling a "Heat Dome" that has been over Texas for quite a while now. 20+ days in a row of 100* degree temps Anyway, I work outside (god help me) and my 3vo does just fine. I never really looked to see the temps it is reaching, just know that it works just as good as when I am inside.
On another note I heard on the radio yesterday that obama's hatred of Texas due to its thriving economy and not falling to obama's deliberate destruction of the U.S. Economy, or joining the rest of the U.S. in 18% unemployment that the "Heat Dome" may be created by the government to "punish" Texas for what we are and what we stand for! This Heat Dome has been sitting primarily over Texas the whole time it has been around, makes you wonder. Oh, we also voted for McCain, not that he would have been much better than obama, LOL. 2012 can not come soon enough!!!

[Q] evo3d vs rezound screen in sunlight (has anyone compared the two?)

Can anyone comment on first hand usage how th EVO3d screen compares to the reszound in bright light ?
[I've seen the evo3d but have not been able to look at the rezound outside.]
I can't compare the 2 being that I don't have an 3vo, but, this phone is bright as **** outside, even dimmed.
dood ive had the EVO 3D since launch and I just noticed yesterday that your can most definately see the screen in straight up sunlight with the Rezound...with the EVO 3D you cant see **** in sunlight. I was amazed on how well I could see in direct sunlight with the Rezound...was loving it LOL
I came from the droid Inc. You could not see the screen in sun light. The Rizound you can see perfectly in sunlight!

THanks. I've seen the evo-3d in indirect light and it was completely blank
The problem is right now is winter so the light is not nearly as bright as summer and I spend a ton of time outside (also having problem finding a sales dood who will go outside with the phone). I've been debating for the past two weeks between rezound and razr; I really like the sense browser...

This thing is great in sunlight man. I am sure at least 1 rep in your store has the phone itself, ask them to take it outside.
I made a bloody appointment to do just that; even left work a bit early. When I got to the store the jerk bailed on me (he was the only one with the phone).

What a jackass... Don't you have more than 1 store? I have 17 within 20 miles of my house lol.

When. In cold weather

Does anyone else experience they're EVO 3d phone screen completely messing up when outside in cold weather usually about 50°F or colder? I have tried quite a few roms thinking maybe just the ROM but was just the phone. Phone screen becomes completely unresponsive and almost has a mind of its own while in cold weather and not again until the phone is in warm air and gets warmed back up. Any help would be great

Lol thinking 50 degrees is cold. Its been low 40s here with dropping to low 20s and my phone works fine...

That's due to your hands being hot and humid which causes a wet fingerprint to form on the glass due to it being cold normal man. Cold glass and hot hands does the same thing when you put your hand on a cold window the mist it leaves behind. The phone is fine.

Lol he could check out amazon or ebay. Tho I tend to just wipe my hands on my pants before I use my phone.
I've never had an issue using my phone in cold weather. I was just in Massachusetts last week and it was in the teens while I was outside having a smoke on multiple occasions. Phone worked normally.

yea my phones works fine in the cold.. i live in Rhode Island and it gets brick!! phones good to go!!
You could have the problem I have seen a few threads talk about. Basically your touch screen gets messed up for whatever reason. Unless you have a lot of physical defects on the phone you may be able to get warranty on it. I have the same problem and it actually happens all the time. Across every rom I have tried in the past 6 months. I used the touch test app and can verify that a random point on the screen thinks im touching it at times. It happens mostly at the lockscreen. Which stops you from putting the correct pattern in. Turn screen off and back on and its gone for a while.
