Hello all
i read somewhere that its a really good idea to reset to factory settings the phone before installing a new android version (2.2.2 -> 2.3.4).
what do you guys think about it?
edit:
2nd question: if i updated to 2.3.4 and i reset to factory settings. willi get back to 2.2.2? whats gonna happen with the 3 updates?

Dear gurus,
I was trying to update FW of my gt-i5510, via KIES. to 2.3
But during update process, KIES showed a message telling that reboot phone, disconnect and reconnect. I pressed power button. But it started a screen showing a message like
reboot system now
apply sdcard update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
#MANUEL MOde#
-applying Multi CSC....
but the option of the update didn't work so i chose the factory reset
after that i tried update again i found kies telling me that my firmware is up to date
i went to setting/about phone/and i found the android version is still 2.2
i am stuck to froyo
please help i want to have gingerbread
i am so depressed
i made sure that the update is official
the weird thing is i have froyo 2.2
and kies says i have the latest version
before the problem there was an update to gingerbread
after the problem i am still running froyo and there is no update
that kind of things makes me so maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad
I'm sure if Samsung is giving you official update, it is giving you the latest.
But as you mentioned, it is giving update, I think it is update for your Os which is maybe 2.2.2 or 2.2.1

[Q] [Help][Stock AT&T 2.3.4 Build 4.5.91]No network after *#*#4636#*#* > USA Band
Hi guys! Plz help.
I have AT&T Motorola Atrix 4G. Its SIM Unlocked and Bootloader Unlocked as well.
System version: 4.5.91.MB860.ATT.en.US
Android version: 2.3.4
I am using this mobile phone in India and had no problem at all with 2G and 3G networks.
Today I was going through *#*#4636#*#* > Phone Information > Menu > Select radio band > and selected USA Band accidentally. Thereafter I have no GSM network. I tried manual searching of networks and did a Erase data/factory reset in CWM recovery but had no luck. I tried to restore an earlier backup also but due to MD5 Sum Mismatch error I couldn't do it.
Please help me getting my mobile working again. Is there something which can reset radio frequencies of the phone? Any idea what should I do now?
Thanks you so much for your help.
Hey there!
I had same issue a while ago and didn't have unlocked bootloader back then.
I simply re-flashed stock firmware from this thread and everything worked fine. If you do this then make sure you chose right one (For you first one should be right), If you downgrade to 2.2.x you will hard brick your device. Just keep that in mind.
By the way now I'm using [CM7 ROM][24/12] --> Neutrino ROM 1.4-S <-- [53mb] and there in settings you can choose whatever band you like unlike in stock AT&T firmware from *#*#4636#*#* you can chose only USA Band. There must be other roms what support this feature too.
I'm sure there are other ways to fix this issue but this is from my expierence.
Good luck!
PS I did that in first week when I had Atrix and it was my first android device. I managed to fix it, I'm sure you will fix it too

Hi mm166,
Thank you so much for your reply and I do think a re-flash only can fix my mobile. Since I have Bootloader Unlocked so I think I can't use SBF method to flash stock 2.3.4 and I can only go for fruitcakes. I am now downloading ATT 2.3.4 Build 4.5.91 fruitcake and I hope it will fix my mobile
I am woundering if flashing ATT radio .91 from following link will reset the files responsible for holding network settings and can fix my mobile ... but I am not sure so can't go for it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163009
Update:
I just flashed "2.3.4 System and Boot NO Webtop (Updated Newest Script)" fruitcake after Clear Data/Cache/Factory Reset but still no network
I think I have lost my mobile just because of accidentally setting to USA Band.
Any help please!!!!!
Well, I'm still newbie on Android devices. I'm not very long with Android device but I'll try give you few advices. Keep in mind that I could be somewhere wrong:
I think new script: [Batch/Script] MFBSR - Moto-Fastboot: Stock Restore could help. Worth trying. Fruitcake didn't restore everything.
I used RSD SBF flash and I think it doesn't matter if bootloader is unlocked or not (maybe someone could confirm that?) if you flash same firmware but that's somewhat risky (better don't try this). But I did that and everything worked great.
Other way to fix network issue could be flashing custom rom. For example this. I added screenshot from settings. Edit: No, I think I'm wrong. That's not right thing.
Solved!!!
Hi mm166, thank you so much for your reply
Before reading your message I did a trick and it worked for me. I just flashed ATT Basband/Radio N_01.77.36P FruitCake through Rom Racer's CWM and after reboot my phone was able to find network as it should be
Since my phone's BL was unlocked so I was not supposed to try SBF flashing to prevent it from hard brick. And, just flashing Stock ROM FruitCake was not resetting its radio settings i guess ... and flashing particularly above mentioned radio files just replaced the older one and once again my Atrix started to breath
I hope this may work for other guys too who are facing same kinda problem of not getting network after accidentally setting the radio to USA Band. But a Full Wipe/Factory Rest/Data/Cash/Dalvik Cache Wipe is needed.
Recently i updated my phone to ICS 4.03. When i go storage setting, i realized my Total Space available become 220mb as my apps only installed 411mb. Has anybody face this problem before? I'm not yet do factory reset as i wanna try resolve before do factory reset only phone.
By the way,my phone is not rooted. Thanks.
Hey mate.
What firmware did you flash?
You should have more storage than that. I would flash again without wipe.
If still no luck try a reset

Before you factory reset, check to see if you suffer from the wifi dump file problem. (large wifi dump files in /data) See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1589970
You will need root to both check to see if this is your problem, and to fix it.
Hi everyone,
I have an original Tablet S which is running quite badly (it's very laggy, and apps stop responding regularly), and it's getting worse. My first thought was to do a factory reset, but I'm wondering whether that will fix these sorts of problems, or whether I need to reflash the firmware to start completely from scratch (or does a factory reset have the same result?)
If a reflash would be worth trying, how would I go about doing that? Can I use the ALLinONE tool to do it? I'm running unrooted, stock 4.0.3 R5A.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
Thanks!

These issues are in the firmware, factory resetting will remove the issues but then it will do the same thing again.

In my opinion, your problem is more likely being cause by the apps you have installed. A virgin install of 4.0.3r5a is fairly responsive and has very few bugs. Do a factory data reset via settings or system recovery to erase all non-factory installed apps and data and then sparingly re-install your apps until you notice the problem again to find out which app or apps are causing the problem. Free ad-based constantly-running-in-the-background-and-calling-home apps are the ones most likely to cause problems.
Accidentally tapped install update because the annoying polyp had been coming at me for days. It ruined towelroot and made all of my apps useless. I wiped the cache and did a factory reset, but I am too late. Removing the battery during update didn't help either. Can someone post a download link to an older version so I can downgrade???
version before??
