[Q] adding haptic feedback to DX themes - Droid 2 Themes and Apps

There are a few themes for the DX that I really like (blackout-red for instance) but I have a D2 and I like having haptic feedbak, so moving to a non-haptic DX theme would be a hassle for me. I have searched around the forums but have had no luck in finding a solution or explanation of how to go about fixing this issue. I did notice that on the arcticslice theme page at droidforums, the OP was able to add haptic feedback within 12 hours of originally posting the theme, and his theme was based on the DX framework originally as well.
So my quesiton is, how intensive is it to add haptic feedback to a DX theme? I know a fair bit about coding in Basic, C++ and Java, but I have no experience in android so I don't even know where to begin to look in the code for haptic feedback, much less how to fix the issue. Does anyone have any pointers, or can offer some advice on how to go about this? Thanks.
Also, I don't really care about the time involved, as I actually enjoy doing things like this, so don't hold off on advice just because you know it's going to be time intensive to fix.

[Q] Want to start a Vibrant "Theme Team"?

If anyone out there is like me, they are ANAL about their phones appearance. I enjoy themeing, and i get positive feedback on my themes (here's my latest one, for example). However, I must admit, my knowledge is limited. I do a lot of kanging and collaborating, and I dont know how to edit .9pngs, which hinders my ability. Also the fact that I dont know how to create an image from scratch. Not to mention, Im not a big ROM flasher so I cant release themes for a lot of ROMs.
I would like to get a "theme team" going for the vibrant, and add some more flavor to the forum. im mainly looking for someone/people who is/are good with .9pngs and flashes a lot of ROMs. Please let me know. Thanks.

I'm always willing to help anyone who has questions, but my time is limited on physical contributions. Also, I recently hijacked birgertime's (sorry man ) thread here With some basic information on .9s.
I've considered opening up a separate theming Q&A thread, but I thought it might get locked since there's already one in the main android forums. Between you and me though, questions don't get answered there.

[Q] Can you pass some knowledge?

im new to the android community and im looking to learn how to perform certain tasks such a development. i am keen on picking things up fast, diving in and just learning from trial and error. im hoping some of you guys can shed some light on what are some things i should start out with. ive come a long way in picking things up because before the thunderbolt came out i was unaware of how to root, abd, roms and kernels. since ive owned it, i have rooted manually and put my tb through many flashes. id like to work up and just get a good sense of how to tweak app and mod certain features to make them more useful to me. so if you have any tips, tricks or just knowledge to drop, id love to know where i should begin so i can one day be a contributor to this site and its users. thanks
I'm a C/C++/Java programmer and I'm currently working on some applications myself, and I have found that the general discussion under Android development on XDA has been very helpful. Lots of threads there with nuggets of info.
im going to school for programming and computer science. i havent really been able to go into to much depth with it so this is my attempt to go above and beyond so i will have a little something to bring to the table when i go to class. i want to be able to know to how to do something while understanding how im doing it and what makes it do it. im new to all of this and hope within the next month i can bring something for all of you guys to critique so i can go back to the drawing board and do something better.
Can anyone help with creating custom skins for apps/widgets it is something i have always wanted to get into
check out APK manager, it lets you get into apk's and make some edits and changes to XML files and layouts, etc. but not all of the source code can be extracted from apk's once compiled, just the way it is. but still allows for mods nonetheless!

[Q] Differences between, observations, reviews, feedback on roms?

Maybe I'll get lucky again and get feedback as great as the first thread I posted here..
For noobs, prospective owners, and everyone inbetween, maybe we can get some positive input about the different features roms can include, differences in roms, etc?
What is sense? Differences between sense 3 and 3.5? What would a rom without sense be missing?
HTC seems to involve beats audio, or the hacks.. at least I have seen this around, new users might not know what this means.
..and anything else helpful for someone trying to figure these things out!
On a side note/idea
I actually wouldn't mind putting together something like the "bibles" you see stickied in some phones forums. Since I am new to the device, new to htc, sense, etc.. Maybe as I figure it all out I could organize something similar? Seems easier since the phone is new, and the processes are still evolving, rather than with a device that has a year worth of info out there.. especially as the amount of information grows quickly.
..or anyone willing to help me get started by suggesting some of the basics?

HTC Amaze development, anybody looking for a graphic helper?

Hey guys
i decided to lend my graphic skills(decent but im not a pro) to anybody who is doing ROM development, some devs usually want to change certain graphics but that can be time consuming so here i am lending my skills, is anybody interested? i also have to mention i've done some theming work here and there mainly on GoLauncher EX and apps from time to time but i would like to lend my skills to any developer out there who may benefit from this, i appreciate devs work and certainly without them we wouldn't have any of the roms or customizations on our phones and the graphic part is also as important as the rom itself, it sets the rom apart from the way it looks and that attracts peopl e.g. Sense 4, TouchWiz.
well i don't know if i explained myself but anyway =) , any of you guys interested?.

Aspiring cook

Ok so this is my first post and im hoping its in the right spot! First off my name is TehJibba and ive been messing around with my evo3d sprint cdma for a few months now flashing different roms and exploring them. ive gone as far as installing dsxida's kitchen and fooled around with deodexing and other settings then flashing the results to my phone mostly with success.
So my main goal now is to get info on where to go from here.
What i want to accomplish in the end is to have a fully working evo3d with beats + leedroid + a custom kernel (yet to be decided on atm) As well as removing ALL stock bloatware leaving only whats needed to run the basic sense 3.6 on the 2.89. ics ota. To be honest all i really like of the stock htc widgets is the clock / weather widgets / animations everything else can go as far as im concerened. Eventually id like to port sense 4.1 to it as well (why? why not i like new dont you?)
So i hope that gives you a basic idea of what i want to accomplish. What i need is a few references as to possible hiccups while installing said mods and possible solutions that i might need. Im also in need of a list of evo3d 2.89 ics ota apps that can be safely removed but leave full functionality of the phne Or any insight would be nice along those lines. Be patient and remember we were all noobs at one point!
P.S. I was also wondering if theres a way to compensate the stock 1500mha full battery charge to 3500mha as i recently got an extended life battery
I'm gonna be hoppin back on the development game in a few weeks or so, so if you wanna PM or Gtalk me or anything, feel free because I would have no problem sittin down for a little while and help you sort some stuff out. Plus, it would help me shed some rust before I start toying around again haha :good:
Thank you man ill be taking you up on that offer. Im pretty adept at coding in general so this shouldnt be to hard to pickup

Just so coincidental that I signed on as soon as you replied lol, it's no problem at all. There's not really much you need to know as far as apps and mods and stuff, but actually digging deeper, that's when the fun starts. I'll be available to help probably tomorrow night, and then we can start rollin.
OK So thanks to beneath-a-burning-turtle and his kindness in helping a complete stranger this lil project is moving along nicely. Currently im averaging 490mb free ram, 140mb of installed apps leaving about 1gb free memory, as well as getting around 3600~ on quadrant. Total rom size (so far) is 323mb.
Im still in need of input tho from other experienced cooks, anything insightful or that would be a useful addition or anything really would be nice. So lets hear some feedback! :good: Also if theres anything thats considered a must have inthis project feel free to ask for it
