[Q] How to update HC Alpha from 6.0 to 7.1?

Hello. I am currently on Alpha HC 6.0 and would like to update to 7.1 that just came out. Do I need to back up 6.0 using CWM and then install update.zip to go to 7.1? Or do I have to nvflash back to original and then do wipe/cache/dalvik and then install 7.1?
I am not sure if going from 6.0 to 7.1 requires to wipe/cache/dalvik everytime or just run the new update.zip and reboot w/o doing wipes/dalvik?
Just want to be sure before doing the update. Thanks in advance.

Ask in the thred for the rom you are using. Better yet, read that thread, your answer is probably already there.

Hello, I also have same quesetion. I use stock ROM 4349 to upgrade to backflash 6.0. It looks easy just copy command into recover folder and update in root. Then, go to recover mode and Gtablet do the updates automatically without any problem.
When I try to use same method for alpha 7.1, it brick the gtablet. I need to use NVflash to do it again. Do anyone know how to upgrade it correctly. BTW, when I install CWMOD form 4349 stock ROM, it fail and I will hang on the recovery mode. Anyone can help?

Need help installing custom firmware

Hi, just found an 8X and thought of stylin' it a litte.. So i visited this site, and found lots of guides on how to install a custom fimrware.
My device is like this:
Xperia x8
Model: E15i
Current firmware version: 2.1-update1
baseband: M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53494915
core: 2.6.29 [email protected] #1
Version number: 2.1.1.A.0.6
Rooted with superOneClick
xRecovery Installed
I've tried to install serveral ROMs using xRecovery og CWM, and the only one i have had working was GingerCruzt rev 7, (since install instructions tells me install update with xrecovery) i did and i worked.. this rom just doesnt allow me to use wifi... so i wanted to upgrade.
but the guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101691
says nothing about how to installer the later versions??? or is it just me?
How to install: only for rev 6 and 7
* Download ROM, install with xRecovery
Click to collapse
i then tried to install it (rev 7.4) as i did it with rev 7, just using xRecovery, but bootscreen just loops? anyone know what im doing wrong?
..
also, i tried to install Gingerdx, i did everything exactly as the guide said, but ended up with same problem looping bootscreen.
The only thing i hosnestly cant figure out is that the guide requirements says:
the guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1188486
Requirements
- Rooted
- ClockworkMod Recovery (v014+)
- Latest kernel and latest baseband xxx015
- Desire to delete Stock SE's Eclair
Click to collapse
Rooted - guess my phone is rooted good enough?? SuperOneClick should work for theis??
CWM - Yup i had CWM installing the update
Lates kerlen and lates baseband xxx015 - Well!? wtf is lates kernel and how do i get it? and so, "latest" aint that a changing factor? when guide was written the lates "thingy" could be something else than it is by now? help explain please
Desire to delete Stock SE's Eclair - fine with me?
i really hope to get some answers, Thank you!
Did you try fullwipe?
Sent from my X8 using XDA Premium App
In which order do i have to do the fullwipe? and what difference does it make? I'm still a little confused
Do full wipe just after you install new rom.
But you automagicly lose all your user data, so make backup b4 you do so
Just use xRecovery backup option. If something go wrong you can always restore.
Correct. You can us titanium backup also...

thanks guys, it seems to work by now!

[need HELP]How to downgrade android 2.3.7 to 2.1 on HTC G1?

Hi Guys,
My device info:
Code:
Dream PVT 32B ENG S-OFF
HBOOT-1.33.2005 (DREA10000)
CPLD-4
RADIO-2.22.27.08
Apr 28 2009
I already flash ROM android 2.1 and made a backup with Nand in RA-dream v1.7.0
Then i flash the GINGERBREAD-DS-Stable-v1.0-20111204 ROM (2.3.7) with ezgb-2636-v1.5.2_S kernel.
Now, i want to downgrade ROM to 2.1 or 2.2 by there steps:
(i use Clockwork v2.5.0.7)
Code:
-flash ohsaka-super-wipe to wipe all; => reboot to recovery boot
-flash DRC83_base_defanged.
-flash ROM 2.1 (another times i flash ROM 2.2)
BUT...when reboot to Android OS, it's boot loop in G1-Tmobile...
another way, i setup RA-Dream v1.7.0 and restore my backup file Android 2.1 that i has backup, but it's boot loop, too.
Now i use GINGERBREAD-DS-Stable-v1.0-20111204 ROM and Clockwork v2.5.0.7.
Thank for reading!
I appreciate everyone's help!
would be better if have step-by-step help.

[Q] OTA not working on X-TremE JB AOKP 1.1

Hello All
I cant 'post in the Rom thread because I don't have enough post so I will ask it here
I'm running X-TremE JB AOKP 1.1 on my GT-1900
I saw 1.3 was released and it says "you can update to this version through OTA now"
but when I run OTA it says"No updates available"
does someone know how to fix this because I don't want to flash through recovery and wipe all data and files.
Thanks in advance

even if you download via the OTA app, you will still probably have to flash the files downloaded via recovery.
Seriously, why are you afraid of CWM recovery?

Just flash through cwm recovery. It's the safest way, and you will more than likely have problems if you don't wipe data..

I will update through Recobvery then.
thank you
