Hi, I've been lurking the forums for ever since I got my Folio two weeks ago. I've tried many different roms out, but now I've fallen in love with Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 RC0, everything works fine except for one thing. I can't disable the buttons on the side of the device. I've tried Dexter's un-official foliowidget HC, foliowidget and also foliobutton. Foliowidget I managed to get to work, but then I have to have Button Savior running which I don't want to (since I already have CM buttons and it's just in the way).
Do you guys have any solution to this problem? Can I disable the buttons in any other way or can I prevent Button Savior from running (since Dexter's un-official version of foliowidget requires Button Savior to be installed in order to be able to disable the buttons...) to just have it as an installed application?
Any answers are appreciated since I'm running out of ideas here. Thanks
EDIT: I've found a suitable and fairly smooth way of turning the buttons off.
Everytime the Folio boots up I have the app "Script Manager" run this script for me
Code:
echo regctrl=0x8800 > /sys/devices/virtual/input/input7/tegra_capsensor
which comes from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10709047&postcount=17 (Thanks Dexter, even though you're not here anymore!) The buttons do light up when touched, but they don't do anything anymore.

I posted this in fascinate forums and haven't been able to get any help, so I figured I would post here as well. I have been running cm7 and installing the nightlies as they come out. When I flashed nightly #9, I lost complete use of my soft keys. Imagine how annoying it is to have to reboot to change screens. I installed a catlog to see if I could figure out what was going on, but I know absolutely nothing about programming. So, this is what I think I figured out. In the bootup, there's no device for "mice", says something about device not found, and then there's another error in system bootup about the"face" error. So I think I have lost something in the system bootup that runs my soft keys.
Does anyone else have issues with their soft keys? Before I lost them totally, my back button would activate all by itself until everything and I mean everything was closed.
I haven't been able to go back to stock to see if that works because I haven't had any computer access since this happened. I will be home tomorrow, so I can see if that helps.
If anyone has any other insight, I'd be really glad to know.
Thanks,
Mona

I had the same issue when I flashed to Paranoid Android, a jellybean based ROM. Everything worked fine for me with Cyanogenmod 7.2, then I flashed to Android 4.1 and lost the use of the soft keys. I still haven't resolved the issue.
For the record

In case anyone else has this issue, I tried flashing a stock Froyo ROM, a stock Gingerbread ROM, CM 7.2 again, and even stock GB with the latest Verizon Wireless update for GB and the softkey functions never returned. I've managed to put Paranoid Android 2+ back on the Fascinate, a Jellybean ROM, so I can mimic the buttons with onscreen controls, but it eats up a lot of screen real estate. It's a workaround, not a solution by a long shot.
I installed Resurrection Remix 2.5.1 (ICS) yesterday with the CM9 Kernel. Everything works (i think) up until I tried making a phone call. I have no audio during phone calls (I can still make them, i just can't hear or be heard). Audio works in other apps, such as music and games. The mic works when i try to use voice commands. I reflashed RR 2.5.1 with again, and tried the Siyah Kernel, and again using fluxi Kernel. I've rebooted the phone a dozen times, still no luck.
I had this issue the last time i tried to use an ICS rom (i tried 3 or 4 different roms about 3 months ago, all had the same issue). I downgraded to a GB rom (Unleased)and the phone was fine.
Any ideas?
(Aslo is the hardware back button and search button supposed to be disabled in ICS?)
2.5.1 is an AOKP ROM so I would suggest that from GB you flash an ICS stock firmware via Odin to get the bootloader installed properly and then you will need to do a full-wipe(possibly format system/data/cache if it helps)and then install.AOKP if not installed properly over AOSP will cause problems.

The i9100 doesn't have a search button. The i9100 has a hardware home button, with a menu button on one side, and a back button on the other. This is the forum for the i9100...
If you really meant what you said about your phone having a search button, then I doubt you have an i9100. Check the label under your battery for model number.
EDIT to add; if you DO in fact have an i9100 and are just confused about the search/menu button... It sounds like you could also be describing an issue caused by a missing /efs/imei/keystr file. Do you also lack a power button menu, and the phone just shuts off if you hold the power button down? If so, are you missing that file?
If the answer is yes, make sure you are rooted, create an /efs/imei/keystr file containing the word ON.
Hmm. i didnt notice the AT&T version of the phone (the I777) had its own subforum. That's probably most of my issue, thanks for pointing it out.
My Prime is about to go off warranty so today I attempted to install the Unlock Device Tool app - without success.
The apk opens to the usual dialog - "Do you want to install this application? It will get access to: etc., etc."
The problem is that the Install button at the bottom of the dialog doesn't do anything. (The Cancel button works just fine.) I tried installing from both MicroSD and Internal Storage, with both touch-screen and track-pad, with keyboard attached and without, cold booted too. Nothing helps. And, yes, installation from unknown sources is enabled, though I even tried disabling and re-enabling. Tried installing a different apk and encountered the same problem.
I'm running JB 4.1.1 - 10.4.2.18-20121122. I recall having the same issue on one of the earlier ICS releases but it resolved after a later upgrade.
Can't find any previous discussion on this though.
Would sure appreciate a solution, if there is one. :fingers-crossed:
I found a workaround. Maybe it will help someone else.
I hit the "I" key on the keyboard, hoping that might select the Install option. Instead it selected "Cancel". (WTF?) So I hit the Tab key and the selection highlight shifted to Install. Finally I hit the Enter key and the app installed.
So now I am successfully unlocked, TWRPed, finally rooted again, and ready to try custom ROMs!
Help!
I have a unlocked AT&T Motorola Backflip (I know its old) and have been trying to install Android 2.3.7 CyanogenMod7. I go through making a recovery image and use Superuser to do a Wipe All. I then flash from the SDcard the zipped file. Everything appears to work fine. After the reboot the phone comes up in the Home page where I can see the apps ect. The issue is that when the phone goes to sleep or restarts I am at the initial power up screen ( where you would select phone, home or return). It is at this point that the home button fails to do anything. I get a short vibration indicating that the phone recognizes I have pushed the button but nothing else happens. When I restore the recovery image everything works fine.
It appears that the link between the home button and the location of the home page is missing.
I would really appreciate expert advice on how to proceed.
Thanks

CyanogenMod 7.1 mapping
Thanks for the information. If I may pose a follow-up. Based on my description, do you think there is different mapping with Android 2.1.1 and Andriod 2.3.7?
Also, is there a way to tell what mapping is being used in Android 2.3.7 or CyanogenMod7?
I appreciate you help.
Hi my friends, i've some problem with my hardware/software soft back key..
sometimes, (very often..) the back soft key doesn't work.. i feel vibrator, but doesn't work.. at the same time, doesn't work the back in the bottom bar (like CM or other rom..).
I have to open an app, or launch task manager, and swype to close some app.. then back to work..
My phone is rooted, with custom rom PROBAM 4.5.0 (CM10.2 + paranoid android)
Anyone could help me?!

Go back to stock 4.1.2 and see if it is still the same.
