[Q] apk Install Button Not Functioning - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

My Prime is about to go off warranty so today I attempted to install the Unlock Device Tool app - without success.
The apk opens to the usual dialog - "Do you want to install this application? It will get access to: etc., etc."
The problem is that the Install button at the bottom of the dialog doesn't do anything. (The Cancel button works just fine.) I tried installing from both MicroSD and Internal Storage, with both touch-screen and track-pad, with keyboard attached and without, cold booted too. Nothing helps. And, yes, installation from unknown sources is enabled, though I even tried disabling and re-enabling. Tried installing a different apk and encountered the same problem.
I'm running JB 4.1.1 - 10.4.2.18-20121122. I recall having the same issue on one of the earlier ICS releases but it resolved after a later upgrade.
Can't find any previous discussion on this though.
Would sure appreciate a solution, if there is one. :fingers-crossed:

I found a workaround. Maybe it will help someone else.
I hit the "I" key on the keyboard, hoping that might select the Install option. Instead it selected "Cancel". (WTF?) So I hit the Tab key and the selection highlight shifted to Install. Finally I hit the Enter key and the app installed.
So now I am successfully unlocked, TWRPed, finally rooted again, and ready to try custom ROMs!

Desktop not starting

Hi,
when I reset my Optimus One with VolDown, Power + Home something got messed up and I received a phone where the desktop is not starting any longer.
After the above reset the setup screen appears where I can choose my language etc, but at the last step I get a force close message for the Setup Wizard every single time. When I then force close, the screen goes dark except for the status bar on the top.
After a while the phone autolocks and I can see the lock screen with moving grass and time etc. When I unlock, again the black screen with only the status bar on top.
The phone receives SMS messages and calls and shows the appropriate screen, just no desktop to choose any apps to start. I can even long press home and then get the recent apps screen with no apps to start.
Can someone help me to get my phone functional again?
Thanks.
Binser
seems like problem with your launcher app. use adb push command to push new launcher in your phone.
no debug

Yes that would be a good idea if I could enable USB debug. But I cannot get to the settings where I could enable USB debug, therefore ADB push is not a possible option for me.
u can log into your google account on desktop and install any launcher app from playstore , it will automatically get installed on your cell if your data is on.

Thanks again for ur input: But the VolDown Menu Power thing did a complete reset and therefore the phone is completely virgin, i.e. no google account is set-up.
While during initial boot the setup wizard comes up, I get the error message:
"The application Setup Wizard (process.com.android.setupwizard) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
So I cannot setup a google account for this phone.
u may be able to go to contacts screen while on call. there u will have an option to add google account. try this n if this doesn't work try resetting your phone again.
Thank you! That did it! I called myself with another phone and during the call via the menu button I was able to go into the account section and add an account. Then the play store updated (some time is needed for registration to take hold on the play store web site) and then I installed the Go launcher via web install.
After I got access to the launcher, I immediately activated USB debugging in Settings > Application Settings > Development and also install from unknnown sources in Application Settings.
I wrote these details so that people with the same problem of corrupted launcher or setup wizard know what to do.
BTW before I tried numerous phone resets but none solved the problem.
Now I still have the following problem: To root a reset is suggested to have a clean file system. A reset however again gives me the above problem. How can I break that vicious cycle?
Again, thanks a million for your help.

No need of reset or so, just root and install clockworkmod recovery via ROM manager app, choose optimus 1 old baseband even if u r on new coz the recovery for old baseband is much more stable.
NOTE:-
do not choose to boot into recovery from ROM manager,u might end up at emergency mode. instead use the key combo to enter into recovery.
don't choose to factory reset from phone menu once u have installed custom recovery, instead do that from recovery.
Thanks, hephappy's ICS CM9 is running well now.
There is only one problem, possibly because I did not get your advice about old baseband in time: Cannot make or receive calls/texts, but I am being asked for SIM PIN and the phone shows the carrier ID in notifications.
My phone has the 20d baseband - is that the problem? Do I need to upgrade to 20g or would that not matter?
Regards,
Binser
OK, I flashed the 20G baseband and the problems are now history. I can make an receive calls.
There was a problem when flashing: The phone did not reboot into recovery mode. I had to do that manually and disable the LG modem. Then when the process was done I the phone showed 20G baseband, but no IMEI and network. I solved that by using the saved NV2 file in a subdirectory of the LGMDP.exe and the NV Restore button on the program icon bar.
Now everything is fine.
Again, thank you for your help.
Ciao,

To get rid of Popup dialogs try pressing search button, it works for me

[Q] Failed update, cannot run applications

Before Christmas I tried to do a OTA update on my Prime, which has not been successful and I have not been able to use the Prime since.
It has previously been rooted and previously have always been successful in using Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper to retain root after updates. I've not unlocked the Prime.
Now when I try to boot it spends a while 'optimizing' the applications (as if it was the first time i've booted it since the update), and then once it is started, no apps will startup, all of them resulting in saying "unfortunately xyz has stopped"
A video of the problem: youtu.be/e1yfTtGiR78 (sorry can't post full link as am a new user).
I'd like to get it working again, possibly installing the Androwook ROM (or at the very least, just working on the stock rom). What steps do I need to do from where I am at the moment?
There are many threads about flashing roms, brick-fixing (some more up to date than others), but I'd just like a bit of advice about this problem and what I should do next (maybe some good links?). I haven’t gone near doing any flashing on the Prime, and it would be nice to seperate the things I could do, from the things I -should- do (I don't know where to start).
I believe as the Nvidida logo is on the bottom right this means I'm on the JB bootloader? Currently the settings menu shows I'm on android 4.1.1, but not sure if this is pre or post the failed update.
Thanks for any help,
Steve
A factory reset will fix you up. You'll lose your data
Hold vol down + power when booting to access the boatloader menu. Select wipe with vol down and use vol up to confirm.
Hi,
Thanks, I've done the reset, but I still seem to have the same problem.
imageshack.us/photo/my-images/502/imag0217c.jpg
I can't actually proceed throuh the inital set up, because it closes itself when it gets to the account setup page.
Any ideas?
I have resolved this.
I downloaded the latest firmware from the ASUS support website, extracted the zip file from within the downloaded zip file and renamed it to EP201_SDUPDATE.ZIP .
Put this on a microSD card (which I had formatted to FAT32), inserted it into the Prime, then booted into the bootloader menu.
Selected the RCK option, it did the update, and 10 minutes later it was up and running again.
From what I have read, it won't try to complete the update if it thinks you have already got that version installed already, but I guess it knew it hadn't successfully completed the update previously.
Glad it's working again.

[Q] Need an Experts help

Help!
I have a unlocked AT&T Motorola Backflip (I know its old) and have been trying to install Android 2.3.7 CyanogenMod7. I go through making a recovery image and use Superuser to do a Wipe All. I then flash from the SDcard the zipped file. Everything appears to work fine. After the reboot the phone comes up in the Home page where I can see the apps ect. The issue is that when the phone goes to sleep or restarts I am at the initial power up screen ( where you would select phone, home or return). It is at this point that the home button fails to do anything. I get a short vibration indicating that the phone recognizes I have pushed the button but nothing else happens. When I restore the recovery image everything works fine.
It appears that the link between the home button and the location of the home page is missing.
I would really appreciate expert advice on how to proceed.
Thanks
Ram
CyanogenMod 7.1 mapping
Thanks for the information. If I may pose a follow-up. Based on my description, do you think there is different mapping with Android 2.1.1 and Andriod 2.3.7?
Also, is there a way to tell what mapping is being used in Android 2.3.7 or CyanogenMod7?
I appreciate you help.

[Q] Blaupunkt, cheap & cheerful Android tablet/lost password

Hi,
My daughter has one of these (Blaupunkt 800).
Unfortunately she has lost the password to get her past the first screen.
There is no data on board which needs saved, but she cannot now use her tablet.
There is a reset hole and two buttons (on/off and home)
I've tried numerous combinations of pressing the reset button in conjunction with various key presses, with no joy.
Has anyone had any experience of this tablet, or can anyone suggest a combination of button presses which will factory reset the tablet?
Phil

How many times do you search for something for three days, then ask for help on a bulletin board, then a few hours later find the answer and feel like a complete fool?
Well that never happens to me!
Well only the once!
Or twice!
OK, a few times!!
Anyway I found this information from data on a number of other sites.
How to enter recovery mode on a Blaupunkt 800.
The blaupunkt 800 is based on the same family of tablets as the TrekStor surftabs.
To get into recovery mode, use the following steps.
1.Press and hold Power+Home Buttons
2. Release the Power button as soon as you see Blaupunkt Logo on Screen.
Now you should be in recovery mode, choose what you want to do by pressing Home Button which will move down the list.
When you get the option you require , just press Power Button to select, and follow the prompts.
In my case I just wanted to factory restore, but you can reboot with different mods, clear caches etc. as with normal android devices.
Good luck
Phil

I've got a Blaupunkt 940 (Cape Town US). I am having a hell of time getting Google Apps installed. I've tried all the Jelly Bean apk's and some services wont even install. I finally found the correct version (I think) and the play store wont' connect to the server. I have internet access, installed framework and login serves apk's. I tried to flash all the google apps via .zip but can not get my 940 to enter recovery mode with the above, it just says update failed. I have updated the firmware of the Blaupunkt using the above method but it goes right into the update menu, not a typical recovery menu with options. My FW upgrade worked fine BTW. Any help with this thing would be great, all I want is google apps! It is android 4.1.1. Thanks everyone!

Hi, can you explain how to install upgrade in blaupunkt cape town 940?
Thanks a lot
Hello all,
I have the same problem with a friend's Blaupunkt Discovery 1001A.
I should reset the tablet because she forgot her gesture. Normally it's easy, just start into Recovery and reset the device.
But I'm too stupid for this. This method above does not work for me.
USB debugging is disabled, too. So I can't work with adb.
Has anyone a working solution for me? I despair of it....
Thanks in advance

Install Custom Rom with SP Flash tool.

Hi,
So here's my problem. (Sorry, it's a long story)
I purchased a phone from a french company ("Archos") three months ago. The Android phone was working fine until lately when I've been getting random freezes. When I would scroll on an app (Twitter's Feed, Reddit Homepage), the phone would freeze. The only way to solve this problem was by rebooting entirely the phone. Sometimes, the phone would also freeze at random moments (on the Lock Screen, the Homepage, etc...) with the only issue being to restart the phone.
I tried to factory reset the phone but it kept on freezing, even freezing on the first page of the Android Setup Wizard (The one with the "Welcome" label and the "Get Started" button) preventing me from touching the "Get Started" button. After multiple reboots and factory resets the phone was still freezing randomnly.
One thing to know is that the phone was apparently running Cyanogenmod since it's primary launcher was Trebuchet. So, I tried to install a stock copy of Android Nougat (7.0) hoping it would fix the problem. The thing is, there's no TWRP image available for my device (Archos Sense 55S). Instead, I used an tool name "SP Flash Tool" to flash directly a copy of Android onto my phone (I managed to find one online).
But the problem did not get solved. Now, it's worse. Before, even though the phone kept on freezing on the first page of the Android Setup Wizard, 1/12 of the time, it would let me touch the "Get Started" button and proceed with the rest. Now, it won't let me touch the button at all, it seems like the application is not receiving any input at all. I know the screen isn't broken because the "Enter SIM Card password" prompt works perfectly fine and when I want to turn off the phone, I can easily select "Power Off", "Reboot", confirms "OK" on the "The Phone will restart" dialog box, adjust the volume levels, the screens responds! But on the Android Setup Wizard: nothing's happening.
I am desperate. It feels like I have tried everything. I cannot install anything else (through ADB & Fastboot) since I can't unlock the bootloader because I can't allow OEM and/or USB debugging (I can't access the settings without completing the Android Setup Wizard). My question is there a way to install a custom rom with SP Flash tool? If so, is it recommend? Won't that brick the phone? Or is it too late now, and it's over?
Thank you for your time.
