[Q] 4G not Connecting after Root? - HTC EVO 3D

My Evo3D is Rooted with Recovery installed, the first thing I did after rooting was create a Nandroid Backup with TeamWINs latest recovery.
I'm running Software Number 1.11.651.3 and when I try to connect to 4G it says "Connecting to Sprint..." and then skills right to disconnected or scanning. I'm kinda worried I lost my RSA Keys. Anything I can do to fix this?

I would try to update your PRL. Go to settings> system updates> update prl. Just throwing it out there.

Also update the Profile. After updating PRL and Profile, reboot your phone. Maybe even a battery pull. Then try again. I'm not sure if Joekrim's wimax key checker (on the market) will work with this phone or not. It was originally for the Evo and Evo Shift i think, but perhaps it would also work. I don't think it'd hurt to try, and see if your RSA keys are still intact (crossing fingers for ya)

Mine was doing this too, I had to go sit next to a tower for it to connect. After a minute or two my signal was back to normal though.

I just attempted mine and it connected really well so I guess the network needed some time.

Extremely slow signal acquisition w/ DCD 2.3.2 & radio 3.27.00

So, I searched, but couldn't find anything. If I missed it, please direct me w/ a link.
I recently upgraded my XV6800 to DCD's 2.3.2 ROM and Radio 3.27.00, and now my radio takes 17+ minutes to acquire a cellular signal. This can't be normal. So, once I did get a signal, I dialed *228 option 2, but that didn't fix it. I also re-entered my MSID and MDN from ##778. Nothing seems to be fixing my issue. Any suggestions?
-Randy
Why would you use 2.3.2 and radio 3.27 when you could upgrade to 3.0.4 and radio 3.37.20? Radio 3.27 is a beta radio that was leaked and is very unreliable and buggy. I could see not upgrading to 3.0.4 and 3.37.20 maybe if you didn't care about GPS or RevA, in which case you could use 1.7.0...but 2.3.2 is a GPS rom, so why wouldn't you use the official WM 6.1 3.0.4 rom with the official latest radio?
Yeah dude, get with the program. If you are going to update your rom (i.e. hack your phone) anyway, why not go with the latest.
Go here and follow the instructions closely. You wont look back.
Okay, loaded the Sprint ROM to get the radio, then loaded the VZW version of DCD's 3.0.4.
Looked in Device Info and it shows ROM version: dcd 3.0.4 and Radio version: 3.35.04
Still having the exact same problem. It's taking 15+ minuted to acquire a cellular signal.
And yes, I have plenty of reception here. I have tried it in numerous areas actually, where I know I get full reception.
There's a whole thread devoted to this right here somwhere...
You need to do the following:
phone app, dial *22803 or *22802 (whichever one gets you a signal) and hit phone hang-up when you get a signal and it says it's starting to program. Now that you have a signal do the next step.
phone app, dial ##778
select "EDIT" and enter the 000000 unlock code
select "VIEW INFO" and select "M.IP Settings"
Edit MIP_MODE and change to something else, then go back and change it again back to "Mobile IP Preferred".
Do the smae for MIP reg retried, retry timeout and pre-registration timeout.
Change all the values, ok, then change them again back to the original setting.
Settings are: Mob IP Pref, 2 retries, 1750ms retry timeout, 0 pre-reg timeout.
When you're all done save and exit - soft-resets your phone.
You should be good after this.
Good luck!

AWESOME~! Thanks for the help man, nobody else seemed to know.
Any way to thank you on here like you can on ppcgeeks?
wait... didnt work lol
looked like it was working, rebooted, LED started blinking, signal bar was up and EVDO icon was showing, went to sent a text message, and it failed, said there was no signal. rebooted, then back to what it was doing before, signal bar has a "..." under it and it just keeps searching till it acuires a signal 15 minutes later.
holy crap.... it's working now. i have no idea what the hell is goin on. i did a soft reset like 3 times and it's still working, so i'm not worried about it.
thanks again for the help

Yeah, I've done it about 4-5 times now and the instructions are from memory, so the exact sequence may or may not be exactly correct, but since you've got it working you should be fine.
You may or may not run into this again if you do another ROM update in the future. The Sprint ROM update did NOT mess me up, but some of the following updates for DCD's rom have had this happen. Not all the time though. You should be able to hard reset (I think) w/out this happening and definitely you're good for soft resets.
It's like something in the settings is getting changed, but not such that when you open the EPST settings that they are different... when you go and modify the values and resave them, they get written back to where they need to be.
If you look unter Titan on PPCGeeks I think you'll find a couple threads on this issue. It seems to be a VZW thing I think.
Also - there is a thread somewhere about where you can download the latest PRL to update your phone. I never did that, but probably should.

hmmm if you find that thread, let me know! because i think after going through your process to to fix my signal acquisition problem, if I do a *228 opt 2 to update the PRL, it will mess up my signal acuisition again. So if I can manually download the latest PRL, that would be sweet.
OMG this worked for me too! I've been looking for a fix for this for two months. I found a workaround by d/l an old outdated prl from corolada.com but it was a non-nationwide PRL. Did the above fix and I've got a signal again with the latest PRL! Thanks guys!

whats the deal?
im runnin 3.1.2 and radio 3.39.10

ok, anyone??? i tried *228 option 1, to get my data back, but it didnt work and when it restarted i had no signal again, so i redid the abov step, sgot my signal back so i can make and receive calls, but still no data, back where i was a minute ago, so how do i get the data back without losing my signal again?? i know if i call the verizon rep he will want me to try *228 and option 1, which will lose my signal, but of course he will say no it wont, so what do i need? just the A Key? or what? how do i call up and just get that without them trying to do all the other steps...cause i have one of the older xv8600 that clears some settings like the akey when you do a hard reset (i know some do that and some dont), so what do i need to fix my data without re-losing my signal?
-thanks
SOLUTION!
ok this worked for me just takes the right combination and order of events.
so if you have no data or calls or a combination of one or the other - go ahead and call verizon, tell them you got cut off right before they rep was going to give you the Authentication key, they will give it to you, restart, this will still show no signal and no data...dont worry. now follow the ##778 steps above, and when you restart you will have both calls and data

Just in case anyone checks this (I had to after I flash to a stock ROM and back to a DCD ROM and do the MIP settings again), here is the link to manually download PRLs
http://www.corolada.com/prl/
Now, I was going to download an updated PRL manually, but I just did *228 (on Verizon) and it actually gave me a more updated version than is currently on that website, so you might try that before manually updating the PRL

[Q]No Data; Profile/PRL/Firmware Update do NOTHING when touched. Help, whats missing?

When I touch the options to Update, prl, profile or firmware, I get no response.
I have no data connectivity and more than likely need to run an update on the profile/prl. Rooted, stock rom...whats missing that when I touch these, they do nothing?? What system processes could have been deleted to prevent these options from functioning? ...or what do those services rely on because Ive got the ota stuff in there. maybe a manual program w/qpst? Thank you!
Try disabling 4G... If 4G is on from the getgo, the updates may fail.
Had to ruu. It activated itself and updated everything.
Fortunately I was able to then restore a nand and voilĂ .
However I'd still like to determine what it is that's actually missing.

probably EPST, thats what runs those updates

MoPho will not connect to network

My kid was playing with my phone and got into one of the sub menus (*#*#4636#*#*). While in there he selected phone info>menu>select radio band. It shows "Set GSM/UMTS band with a choice of USA band (only choice). After that it went into GSM mode. I tried to make a call and got the GSM network message. I couldn"t figure how to get out of it, so I called sprint. They had me pull the battery while they did something on their end. After they had me turn it back on, but it won't provision and connect to the network. I got the msl out of them and manually entered the MIN and MDN, but I still have no signal and can't activate it. How do I fix it? No signal, can't activate, can't update profile, can't do anything. Can anyone help??????
Im by NO means an expert with this but heres a quick few things I would personally do if I were in that situation. Id go into that 4636 dialer menu then phone info then scroll to bottom and you should see "set preferred network type" it *should* be set to "CDMA auto(PRL)" assuming your using Sprint. If yours already shows that then I would try going to the Sprint Zone Activation app thing found in app drawer and activating through there, heard it works wonders sometimes so id try that too. Are you able to access the menus and everything or are you stuck in a "contacting network" or whatever it says? IF your stuck and cant get to home screen boot up into "Boot Android No BP" then once you've boot put it into airplane mode, and reboot and you should be able to bypass the contacting network mode due to the fact that on the next boot youll still be in airplane mode. Take it out of airplane mode once youve reached home screen and try the things i said, and anything you think may work/anyone else posts. Good luck and keep us posted so if anyone else has the same issue they can get it resolved easier!
It's in gsm/cdma auto(prl). Tried pretty much everything I can think of except hard reset and sbf.
Well, it's bricked right now, guess I'll sbf and take it to the store.
I personally had a similar situation where i couldnt get it to activate, ended up coughing up the $35 for a new photon from sprint(out of warranty). But found like a week later someone had same issue and resolved by just using the sprint zone activation app. Hopefully a SBF will do the trick for you, id try running through those few things again before taking it to Sprint though as they are simple and might save you a trip to the store.
Well it's working again. This issue required an SBF to fix it. It kinda sucks that you can't get off GSM and back on CDMA any other way. Looks like there is an issue in the MoPho's software that Moto/Sprint didn't think about.
On my WinXP system I just couldn't get RSD to work without a hassle, so I gave up on it. Now I have a Win7 machine and RSD setup and ran like a pro!! SBF via RSD was a snap!!!

Help! No 3G data after ##3282# > Data Profile > Restore

I currently use cm10 as my dd. Flashed back to Sense (meanrom) to do a ##3282# > data profile > restore in an attempt to fix some minor 3G issues. After restoring and rebooting, the hands free activation never started. Tried a manual profile and prl update with little luck. Currently, I have no 3G signal. I was able to get 3G back very temporarily after doing a ##72786# >menu > reset; however, it would only work in LTE/CDMA mode and would usually drop-off very quickly. Tried reverting back to AOSP and data was still gone. Has anyone experienced this? Is there something else that Sprint has to do on their end?
I had the same problem no 3g for a week then I went to a repair sprint center, the guy said it was the phone wish I had uprooted before going in. He did all the firmware update and nothing, knew it was the phone cauz i did the ##786# and was not doing anything because I had no data. Anyway sprint gave me a new one for 35$.which suck because came with the new hboot 1.15.

Here are a couple more observations. On a sense ROM, I can get 3G as long as I keep it on LTE/CDMA and not CDMA only. Once i switch it, it immediately disconnects. When I switch over to CM10 I get no 3G at all regardless if I am using LTE/CDMA/EvDo or CDMA/EvDo auto. Also, when I am connected to my airave I am unable to get any type of 3G regardless of the mode that I am on. Is there a setting within "data profile" that is preventing me from connecting to "cdma only"?
Tried two additional things with no success - 1. Switched to cdma only and tried updating profile. 2. ##72786# to reset data.
There shouldn't be an issue with cmx other then having to switch to CDMA/auto. Try switching to CDMA auto and immediately reboot the phone and let it just sit for about 5-10 minutes it sounds bad but its not these are nighties and it will be fixed soon enough
Is the active profile set on 1? I had the same problem, and I was able to get data back by doing a profile update over WiFi..

you sir fixed my issue...thank you!!!! Hit a roadblock with a "vDM stopped unexpectedly" error which prevented me from updating profile. Flashed a nandroid, changed data profile to 1, updated profile over wifi and it worked. Can switch between cdma and lte without a problem. Flashed CMX again and 3G connected right away. Thanks again!

[Q] No data when 4G turned on

I have my sisters phone, and having data issues. When I turn on 4G, she loses data altogether. If I leave 4G off, she has data, but obviously no LTE.
I've tried multiple sense Roms with the result. It's currently on Meanbean, but I've also tried ViperRom.
Any help is appreciated!

Had the same problem try to run a prl and profile update if you are on a sense rom. if not flash a sense rom. if you are on a sense rom and updating PRL and profile fail then you have to dial ##72786#.
This was my problem last week. @Captain_Throwback told me about the ##72786# because the updates would fail.

Thanks. I finally got her phone back. I am on a sense rom and was having the same issue with the updates failing. I did the ##72786#. Am I supposed to do something at that point? After doing that, it shows there is no PRL update, but the profile still won't update. I'm not getting an error message this time, but it hangs on "The network is preparing your services."

It took my phone almost an hour for the network to prepare the update and WIFi won't help. Just give it time, it took forever on my phone.
