Hey,
I have the stock ed05 version that I OTAed from DL09.
I would like to know which clockwork mod version should I use please ?
I see there is different versions, with specific ones for CM7.
I don't really understand which one I should take, and I don't want to have to reinstall my phone.
Please help me.
Thank you.

This is highly dependent on what you are look to do with your phone.
I am going to assume that if you are looking through these forums you are planning on using a custom ROM, touchwiz or otherwise.
For anything not AOSP (CM7, MIUI, OMFGB...) I would recommend 3.x. It will use the updated edify scripting that is found in every ROM and will be the best to work with. You can find this (i believe) in the dev thread sticky.
For AOSP you will need the 4.x provided by Jt in his thread.

So I have just Flashed HARDSPL, RADIO and a custom ROM.
I'm about to install Android now.
My question is, is it necessary to have a custom ROM to have Android?
Or can I have stock ROM and Android?

Yes.... and no.
Actually, "it depends" is the best answer. I use stock ROM (had to flash my Radio to higher than 2.08 obviously). I have no problems with android. A quick search around the android forums will show you that many people have problems with android unless they flash a custom ROM.
So, it depends... If you are lucky it will work fine on stock ROM. If not, you'll need to flash one of the recommended custom ones.

Thank you for the quick reply.
I guess I'll stick with the custom ROM for now then, although I do miss my stock one already lol.
Just for future references, Do I have to uninstall my custom ROM and flash Stock ROM the same way I have done Custom ROM?
I believe the process is slightly different and may involve a flash through the SD card. Although I've never really looked into it myself.
Check out THIS thread. It has some more info on how to flash back to stock. Or THIS one if you are tmous.
Thank you ever so much, I figure I will try it with stock ROM first, see if that works.
I'm guessing it doesn't matter which stock ROM I download from the none TMOUS thread link?
Actually, I remember reading somewhere that it very much matters what stock ROM you use. (I think) someone said they bricked their phone using the wrong one. However, I do read a lot of posts and I may be remembering incorrectly....
Either way, you should ask around or scan through that thread to be sure.
Right ok, Trying to find a tutorial now on how to determine which one I will need.
Thank you for your help.
I remember my stock ROM being 1.66 something.
So should I download that one?
Sorry for the Noob questions...I just don't want to F things up.
I am thoroughly enjoying CM7 on my vibrant, however, I am wanting to try out the Simply 2.3 ROM that is 2.2.1 based. I am wondering if I need to Odin to stock, or could I just flash the new rom through CWR 3.0 that is CM7 based.
Maybe other noobs would like a direct answer also.
Thanks for everything! Love these forums!
don't know thew build platform but it they are based on the same platform you could flash over one to the other, but I usually Odin back to stock anytime I am changing from one dev's rom to another It is safer.........

I've been following the progress on Kaoscinate's cm7 gingerbread post. I was wondering if anyone would be helpful enough to post a step by step direction to get it on a fascinate. My phone is rooted, running a custom rom and kernel, however I am not running a vodoo build (have never done so before and it is my understanding that this is a requirement for Kaoscinates CM7 gingerbread to work).
For the purpose of making this useful for other users on the forums. If someone could include the steps (or links) to a compatible vodoo kernel in addition to the steps (or links) to a compatible radio as well that would be appreciated. After that a step by step direction to get the Kaoscinates cm7 on there. Alternatively if someone just wants to post a quick guide on how to go to this from stock that is fine as I can easily take my phone back to stock and work from there.
The main reasons behind my request is my relative inexperience with vodoo kernels. I apologize if there is already a rightup for this. I attempted a quick search but wasnt able to find anything and the Kaoscinate post is 250 some pages long now so its relatively difficult to find useful information without spending too much time. If anyone needs anymore information from me to assist feel free to im me or post here.
Flash the voodoo version of CWM via Odin: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1046905
Boot to cwm, flash a CM7 kernel like this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1045831
Flash the CM7 ROM. That parts the same as any other ROM (wipe wipe wipe, choose zip, etc). Boot, and you should hear the lady's voice telling you it's in the process of converting to voodoo. Wait it out, then you're in CM7.
Should work okay on the radio you already have.

Dude there are like 4 stickies in the top of this forum for this. I have no idea what custom rom you could be using unless you are still on superclean or something because all the roms out right now include a voodoo kernel.

well you are 100% correct I was using superclean. I figured everything out though thanks to a few IMs and the first post.

So you're supposed to wipe everything before and after you install the kernel? Wouldn't wiping after installing the kernel get rid of the kernel?

no kernals cant be deleted only rewritten
Just wondering if anybody could populate a list of kernels that would work with this radio and rom that was just released. Currently on the stock kernel that comes with the Tbolt fresh out of the box, couldn't find any other threads (including the OP which this new stuff was released on) that listed specific kernels that were compatible. Thanks in advance for the help!
Sidenote: If the compatible kernels listed had links next to them providing the details and benefits/differences between each would also be helpful in my choosing one, thank you.
One last thing (sorry I'm a noob lol), is there any specific order required between the flashing of radios/roms/kernels? Like: Flash new Radio first, then Rom, then Kernel. Or are they pretty interchangeable as long as they are compatible? Again, thank you for your help.
Someone more experienced just informed me that all new Roms come with kernels in them! LOL I am such a nooblet sorry for the post. However, it would be nice to know which kernels are compatible in case someone wanted to switch kernels but use that Rom still.
All kernels for Sense will work... if you can, find the ones using anykernel updater so my RAMdisk stays intact.

First of all, this is the thread I'm referring to
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1233328
Am posting here because I don't have enough posts to reply to the thread. Really doesn't make sense that the forum requires 10 posts before I can reply there.
I'm really confused with all the links on the OP. The instructions aren't clear enough for a noob like me. Would appreciate any help here.
Basically I want the fastest/smoothest experience, so no TW for sure, and OC if possible. Am not really sure what deodex does for me so not sure if I need deodex or broodcomb...
So correct me if I'm wrong here.. Never done this before so I'm just picturing it in my head(getting my tab tomorrow so just wanna make sure I get things right) this is how I should do it..
1. I will need to download this and install through odin no matter what... Hmm what does CSC: CPW and XEU mean anyway?
Stock Rom [ODIN] special for XDA Members only ( CSC: CPW and XEU )
2. This is where I get lost. Do I choose between these 3? If yes, what's the differences between them? And where's broodcomb?
CWM KH7ROOT
Stock Deodexed Rom special for XDA Members only
CWM Rom by mabalito
3. Install the non tw update/ themes/etc..
4. where in all these do I fit in the installing of pershoot's kernel? Can OC be done only with pershoot kernel? Does 3G work with pershoot's kernel?
I appreciate any help you can give me. perhaps someone can do me a favour and post this up in the thread so that others can answer it.
Thanks
Ryan
any kind soul out there? I just need someone to help me copy paste my post over to the thread so that others can answer it.
I'm running the stock KH7 rom and it's much better then the KG9 that i had before.
As far as i know, there is no rom for p7500 that doesn't have Touchwiz. In that thread there is just a theme that looks like vanilla Honeycomb, so it doesn't give any performance boost.
Besically you need to install the stock KH7 first (using odin) and then install custom recovery if you want to root or use other modifications posted there.

I've got my tab now and have been messing with it for awhile without much success. I tried this...
1. reboot into cwm recovery
2. install deodexed stock rom via cwm
3. install cwm non-tw (from the thread)
and that resulted in a reboot-loop. So I can't go straight to cwm and have to install stock using ODIN first? okay help me out here a little, I'm still not sure what or where ODIN is...
okay I managed to get it to work after many tries. I used odin(which i think i didn't need to).. then installed the deodexed stock rom, pershoot's kernel, and non-tw..
Like i already said, first you need to install stock KH7 using odin.
Glad you got it working.
