Ok guys I have a Sensation and I thought I'd guinea pig my WiFi Flyer to see if the permroot method from it works, and it does!
So I will copy from this thread!
Step 3. TO permanently root your Sensation - THIS WILL NOT AFFECT WIFI
1. Copy su-2.3.6.3-ef-signed.zip to your sdcard root DOWNLOAD HERE:
2. Start clockworkmod recovery (instructions below)
3. BACKUP YOUR ROM USING CWM BEFORE ATTEMPTING ROOT!
4. Press Volume Down, Select "Backup & Restore" then select "Backup"
3. Select "install zip from sdcard" after backing up
4. Then select "Choose zip from sdcard"
5. Then select "su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip"
6. Then select "Yes - install su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip" to confirm
7. Then go back
8. Then reboot.
9. You're rooted!
EDIT: If you get stuck and the device will not reboot hold Power/Hold+Volume Down for a while and the device will restart!
After this the device rebooted, and I was able to obtain SU in terminal and also use root explorer to mount R/W!
So big ups to ikhzter for the guide!
Hope this helps you guys out!
Also I will say I used this only on a WiFi Only US Flyer and cannot guarantee this will work on your Flyer/View! Again this is for S-Off devices only!
EDIT: People have reported this working on the View 4G and Flyer GSM
Also if you did not get the ClockworkMOD installed after AlphaRev check here for directions on how to obtain CWM!
Worked thanks
Great!
Great glad to hear, if anyone tries this on a View or GSM Flyer (if you can) could you report back so I can update the OP
It worked on my View.
Out of curiousity how did you get clockworkmod?

You can install CWM when you make your device S-OFF, at the last step you are asked if you want to download and install it.
Worked nice on my Flyer.
You can also do it this way: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14693680

It gave me cwm on my view in revolutionary. But after getting into clockwork it froze and had to hold power to shut off. After reboot cwm made nand successfully. That is as far as I can go until I convince my wife there is a better rom.

I screwed up my Evo 3D root(well not entirely). After I got s-off on 3D I was so excited I unplugged before I ran CWM install. So when I realized the stock recovery would not flash anything even with s-off I went to run revolutionary again only to get "Your device is not supported at this time" Thankfully I was able to flash TWRP using fastboot with their instuctions. My 3d is really the only new device I can play with. My wife does not know her view is rooted.Oops

Here's the tether that T-Mobile removed from the Galaxy. Just flash using Clockwork recovery.

Works perfectly. And the great thing I can tether other android phones with it so I'm assuming it's not creating a adhoc connection. Speeds seem to be a little better than wireless-tether app.
My iPad and anyother phone is able to disconnect and reconnect with out any problem. With wireless tether every time I'd disconnect or stop tethering and try to start again at a later time I'd have to change the name (ssid)
Thanks for posting it!!!
Works very well! Thanks a lot

Make sure you have ROM manager, if not, it can be found in the market by searching for it.
Go into ROM Manager
If you don't already have it flashed, click "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery"
After that, click "Reboot into Recovery."
Phone will go into ClockworkMod
Use your volume buttons to go to "install zip from sdcard", and press the power button to select.
Select "choose zip from sdcard"
Go to whatever folder or location the file is, and select it
Click on "Yes - Install signed-mobileapv2.zip"
After that happens, click go back, then reboot system now, and that's it!
Works great on my Vibrant. Thanks so much!!!

hello
i apologize for making a thread about this but i've spent all day yesterday trying at least 10 methods of rooting, wiping my card, downloading this and that etc, etc
i haven't seen any method that isn't at least about two months old, however
so, i'm wondering if it's possible to root a hboot 1.49 eris
this method: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=709450
is the only 1.49 targeted method i've been able to find and it's about three months old
have there been any progressions?
You tried one click? Try a forum search for jonsuh and one click.
i tried the version that was in the marketplace but it didn't work
i'll try using the apk from the site too
same exact app
is that the only known method?

Are trying to go to recovery immediately after clicking rootme and then rebooting? If so I made that mistake, you have to reboot once all the way, and then reboot into recovery.
Two full reboots before going into anon-ra recovery.

I see. Thank you for the information. I'll be sure to do it right next time.
Ok guys, before I go into my question let me tell you what I did. (a bit of a long story, if you don't want to read it, just head to the bottom to read my question )
I did a complete format of my phone inside twrp, wiped everything, to install a new rom. I got an error which after a bit of searching I found out that I had to install the latest twrp. So, withing the twrp menu, I selected "mount usb" and copied the latest pc86img file to the card. I dismounted and, again, inside the twrp menu selected "power off". I turned on the phone by holding down the volume button. It updated the recovery and all was good..... up to right now.
Now, I could not boot my phone into a rom because I had already formatted all of my phone, so I could not erase the pc86img file. Also, I could not boot into recovery because hboot kept finding the pc86img file and it would not give me any other options than to apply or reboot.
I ended removing the case, removing the back cover, removing the battery, removing the sdcard, plugging in my sdcard into my computer, deleting the file, putting back the sdcard, put the battery, put the back cover, and finally put the case back on.
I think this was too much work for something so simple. I remember in my Evo 4G, if there was a pc86img file sitting in the sdcard, the bootloader would detect it and if I did not want to apply it, it would just take me back to the bootloader's menu.
So, now to my question: is there anybody out there in this wonderful community of hackers talented enough to put out a new/modified hboot that will thow me back to the bootloader menu if I don't want to apply the pc86img file? Thanks.
arqbrulo said:
What he's trying to say is, make it so when you don't want to update the PCIMG, it doesn't auto reboot. Sucks to have to take the file out and then re-reboot again.

...besides, unless you are never near a computer when you are a romman and moddan why no just flash via fastboot instead?

I want root back but have been unable to since moving to ICS with the android police RUU. I have tried many methods but have been recommended to just use a rooted ICS ROM. I would like a complete stock ROM except I would like it rooted. I need this because I would like one rooted stock nandroid backup on my phone and then some other mods later. Thanks to anyone who can help with this or maybe tell me how to get root after this OTA. (I have tried flashing multiple things)
I may be wrong but I thought the root method was the same for ics as it was for gb except you have to flash SuperSU instead of the regular SU since it doesn't work on ICS? What all have you tried?

The Amon-Ra method no longer works. Some people said that flashing superuser.zip would work or flashing su.zip and su binary but nothing has worked. I flashed so much that my phone started doing weird stuff so I just factory reset again hoping that it can be back to normal. I still have no root though and if it helps, I am S-OFF with Amon Ra but can go to TWRP easily

Some developers are now putting SuperSU in their roms instead of superuser, so they're both floating around. I know mine, Newt's One XxX (sense 4.0) uses SuperSU.

For those who need help aswell:
Step 1: Flash Amon Ra recovery onto your phone
Step 2: add this file to the ROOT of your external SD Card: http://www.sendspace.com/file/biqzgw
Step 3: Turn off your phone, pull battery, put back in battery, BUT DO NOT TURN BACK ON and look at step 5
Step 5: Hold down the volume down button + power button at same time and wait until the bootloader pops up.
Step 6. Use the volume down button to go to recovery (it should be highlighted blue if selected) and hit the power button. You should now be in Amon ra recovery
Step 7: Use the Volume buttons to move the selector up or down and go down to "Flash zip menu" and hit the power button to select it.
Step 8: Next go down and select "Choose zip from sdcard" and select it by hitting the power buttton again/
Step 9: Now you should find the file for the root here (normally at the very bottom, just remember what you named it) and scroll to it and hit power. It will ask to confirm by hitting the power button again so do so.
Step 10: It will now install, however, If it fails just try to install again until it says it was successful. (It took me 2 tries)
Step 11: Select the return option to return to the main Amon Ra page and select "Reboot system now"
Step 12: While your phone is booting up, put the back cover on if you have not yet done so as it is needed for the next part.
Step 13: Go to the Google Play store, and download this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.busybox.installer&hl=en
Step 14: Open the installer (and superuser might request permission, if it does, click ALLOW) and at the bottom it should say something like "Install". Click this!
Step 15: Once it says it is successful with the installation, go back to the Play store and find the superuser app.
Step 16: Update Superuser and then open it. (Allow superuser permissions again if asked) and scroll the the "info" page which is to the left of the main apps page
Step 17: under su bunary vx.x.x hit the "Tap to check for updates" option.
Step 18: Hit update
Step 19: YOU ARE ROOTED
Step 20: You may uninstall the busybox installer and install any root applications for your leisure!
I just used Hasoon's All-in-One Tool and it couldn't have been simpler.

My cousin gave me his Thunderbolt.
I was able to operate the device fine. Then I did an OTA update. I wasn't able to complete the update cause I needed more battery. So I re booted and now I'm getting this screen.
When I re booted and hit menu it has an exclamation point symbol with an android on the screen in the back ground with Revolutinary CWM v4.0.1.4.
Now I'm stuck in this screen and can't get out.
If this phone is rooted why did you do an OTA? Turn the phone off and hold the power buton and power and volume down and see if you cant get in to recovery from the boot section. Most likely you might need to flash an RUU

The only options I'm given when I scroll is under Fastboot is...
Recovery
Factory Reset
Simlock
Hboot USB
Image CRC
Then select recovery and let me know what all options you have. If you can load roms. I would do a wipe and then install a new rom and see if that fixes your issue.
While in fastboot does it say s-off or s-on. If it says s-off you are rooted.

What he's asking is that once you're in CWM do you have the options of like... wipe data, install zip from SD etc?

Then do as suggested.
Download a rom .zip file and place it on your sd card.
Boot to Recovery and wipe everything using the wipe options.
Then choose to flash a .zip and select the rom .zip you downloaded and put on the sd card.

You can find roms in the Development section here at XDA, also at Rootzwiki, and my Rom is linked to my banner in my signature in every post.
There are quite a few options to choose from.
I suggest reading up on some of them and decide what may suit you best.
Assuming this is all very new to you, you may just want a rooted stock rom.

Any rom you download will be able to wireless tether. Just download wireless tether from the market. Its better than foxfi IMO.

Just to note I'm on Recovery screen and it has an exclamation point symbol in a triangle and android symbol in the background.
If you like sense rom sky raider is a great stable rom. It sounds like you are new to all this. Santod sense ICS is a good one to. Like said read up on the many different ROMs out there. Many are good ROMs.
Yeah WiFi tether is way better. Just ask how to set it up after you choose your rom. As the settings in that depends on you're rom. Main thing is your phone is fixable and not broken. Just don't do ota any more as its for stock unrooted phones.

Wireless tethers I'm told don't work with HTC.
