so I'm missing my GPS Weather Radar from my old TP2
the market is a bit overwhelming.
is there anything out there similar to the winmo GPS Weathr Radar?
Mycast is the best
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA Premium App
You aren't kidding. MyCast is about as awesome as a weather app can get. Thanks!
i'm partial to Rainy Days. no nonsense weather map, nothing else.
thanks guys, mycast does seem to fit the bill, although its still a little more than I wanted.
I also found Radar now. It would be a winner if it had pinch/zoom, and was full screen.
Yeah. I had radar now and was sorely disappointed with it.

WSI Corporation
WSI Corporation makes some nice looking weather apps with radar on the front page. The one for my area is called Skywatch 5.
been using radar now since day 1...plan and simple radar.
DROID x2 xda premium .. woot * woot
I was using radar now for the longest time...but stopped due to some issue I can't even remember now. Rainy days is my favorite. No non-sense and just works great.
ahhh, yeah, Rainy Days is exactly what I wanted
thanks folks
ok, so rainy days is almost perfect, but wow is the radar image pixelated, it looks like original donkey kong or something!
Mycast's location function seems to be broken. Says Im in Minnesota when Im in Ohio. I refresh and my GPS icon flashes for not even a second and it still says im in Minnesota. Shame, I like the way it looks

I found SPB 3D mobile shell, and paid 14.95 to DL to the Photon, and I can tell you that HTC Sense is a thing of the past for me. I don't miss it at all now that I have loaded this soft ware. Trust me when I tell you that I am a real sense fan, and I feel this add on can help cure sense miss you blues! Some lite profanity and humorous display in the first link.

what about battery? Is this a battery hog!
Currently using Go Launcher EX + all GO Widgets and I love it. I do love SPB and bought it also but I'm afraid of it being a huge battery drain.
Looks alright ...not as good as sense 3.0

I did this for the Bionic so I thought I would do it for the Rezound since I switched to it today. I will update I as I find more.

I had the Bionic for about a week or so before deciding to return it. What's your thoughts on the Rezound compared to the Bionic? Was thinking about trying the Rezound.. worth it?
I have only had it for a few hours but here you go.
Screen is light years better
Seems faster
Sense kills Blur
Camera is much better
Feels sturdier
Found a couple more reviews.
Nicely put together man. Most will fi.d this useful as far as making there decision. Plus I didn't k.ow all these blogs even reviewed it.

I was hoping it would help some people out. I was going to buy it regardless of the reviews but it is amazing how people either love or hate Sense. Having just tried my first Moto phone (the Bionic) I can say it is nice to be back on the HTC train.

I read the Verge one yesterday morning. I thought it was a good opinion well written. The author's only big downside was the SGN's closely timed release.
I hate to say it, but as much as I like customizing my phone, I think the Moto skin boring. I have vanilla Android on my Nook Color and it's just too plain.
The crapware! Seriously how do VZW employees push VZ Navigator and still feel good about themselves? Now they have Vz Videos too? At least I don't see the VZ App store carry over from the DInc.

Returned the razr and decided to give the rezound a try. Been two days and I am very pleased with it. Camera is so much better, screen is amazing, and of course sense is much more familiar to me. I am so bummed that this app is gone.
I really got my use out of this app and it's widget on my EVO 4G and HTC Jetstream.
I suppose since it is not present on the EVO LTE, what is a good replacement that can live up to HTC NEWS?
Not sure but have you checked hub? App might be in there. Nut sure of good substitute.

Bummer.
There is news in the weather app. I'm not sure if it's the same one you are referring to, but if you click on the Wx bar under the clock on the home screen, four tabs appear at the bottom once it comes up. The tab all the way on the right pulls up the news. Hope this helps
Edit: Let me pull my foot out of my mouth so I can say that I'm wrong. I just noticed that this is only Wx news so disregard my info above. Sorry about that.

I was feeling the same way. I loved that app, since I could use the RSS Feed from my local newspaper.
The best replacement that I've found is: Scrollable News. It works really well once you figure out how to set it up.
I downloaded Google's google reader and with sense 4.0's ability to resize widget, it is a decent replacement for this missing app.

I have been using WeatherBug for a long time now. As far as Alerts go, its always worked best for me.
Agreed. Used weather channel app forever, finally bought weather bug elite, and I haven't looked back. Network location alerts are easy on the battery and spot on for me.
Edit: I must say, radar looks wonderful on this huge screen. Haha.

Yeah totally agree with the radar. Some apps look real grainy on the Radar. But with EB Elite its very nice. No impact on battery either for myself. Even if u have weather updates in your Noti bar

Thanks for the suggestion. Got the app last night. Seems really nice. Hoping the best for New Orleans and surrounding areas in the path now that the track has moved more to the west.
Ohh that's great. Yeah I'm sure you'll like it. I'm big on weather, cause of my work. This is definitely the best I've encountered. Yeah good luck to you and your family. Hope for the best.

Weather Bug Elite, But if you want cool looking animatons Beweather is the best, but the radar in BeWeather sucks.
I've been using Weather Channel, but maybe I'll give Weather Bug a shot.
Weather Bug Elite. Put a check mark in satellite to make a stunning display on the EVO IPS screen.
My main issue with weather bug elite is that the closest weather station for my town is roughly 20 miles away and on the beach. This causes the current conditions/forecasts to be inaccurate many times.

I can see how that would be a problem for you. Although, for me, radar and weather alerts are big requirements. The alerts come from NWS, and location of stations doesn't really affect radar.

Just wondering if any of you guys use the app Viggle? For those who don't know what the app does/is, it listens to your TV for roughly 15 seconds when you tell it to, and you confirm the show your are watching. You get 1 point for every minute that you're checked in while the show is still on. Some shows give you bonus points as well, the most common being 50 bonus points, but some shows, though rarely, are worth up to 200 bonus points. There is a What's On section in the app that lists all of the shows worth bonus points for that day. There are also videos you can watch to earn bonus points too. You trade your points for different prizes which you choose from. I always opt for the $25 Best Buy gift card. Pretty awesome to get paid, in a sense, to watch TV!! I've been using this app for roughly 7 months. A few months ago I decided to make other accounts (only need a different email address) and started using Viggle on my other phone and my tablet as well. So far I've gotten 7 $25 Best Buy gift cards! $175 just for watching TV!? Not too shabby!! Lol.
Here's the pic to show you that is totally legit (I was a bit skeptical at first to whether you'd actually be able to get gift cards or not, and knew no one else using the app, nor had I ever even heard of it before, just randomly happened to come across it while browsing the Play Store). I've since gotten my older sister and parents using it too. My parents have already used $50 in Lowes gift cards. Last pic is more of a close up to show the $ amount on the gift card. Though if you zoom in on the others you can also see the $ amount. Just put a Best Buy gift card that I received for Christmas at the bottom, to cover up the barcode and pin number assigned to the last printed card.
I get nothing for anyone signing up, as I obviously didn't post a referral code or anything, just wanted to share the info as I thought others might not have heard of this app before, and find this info useful!! If I could help inform just 1 person with this post, then my job here is done! Take care everyone, and happy Viggling! Lol

Thanks for sharing your experience with Viggle. I signed up for it a few months ago but then forgot. It seemed too good to be true in my opinion so I didn't bother; what's in it for them knowing I'm watching a show?
You mentioned you get a point for every minute you're checked in; how do you prove how long you are watching the show exactly? Do you let your phone listen for the entire duration of the show or do you have to have your phone listen for 15 seconds once per minute?
Here's a few screen shots from within the app. The first if the home/check-in screen. Second is the first page of the What's On section. Third is the first page of the Rewards section.

Once it listens and you confirm that show, you can change the channel, turn off the TV, whatever you wanna do. You get 1 point per minute until that show goes off. You have to be checked in for at least 10 minutes to get the bonus points, for shows that offer bonus points. If there are 4 1-hour long shows between 8-9, I'll check in to 1 every 15 minutes. That way I get the bonus points for each show during that time frame.
Yea, I assumed it was too good to be true in the beginning as well! That's why I posted the photos for proof that it is indeed legit! While I've yet to use any of my Best Buy gift cards, my parents used 2 $25 Lowes gift cards last week, which they earned from Viggle. I've went on to Best Buy's website and entered my gift card info to confirm that they're working, and for the full $25.So it definitely works! They get money from companies advertising within their app, with videos you have the option to watch (for bonus points). They may even sell their statistics to TV networks, showing how many people check-in to what shows. Not sure about the last one, but there are definitely videos from companies advertising.

Only problem is is that it is only giving me one point per program despite running it for over 20. I thought at first it was because I started doing something else with my phone, but it happens even within the app. What am I doing wrong?
Edit: Figured out I was checking into the tail end of half hour shows...duh! Developer's response was fast! Haven't tried going into other apps after I check in, though going to try that next.

I appreciate it bro! Actually May 22 will be 1 year ago! Yea, I was hurt pretty bad! They thought I was dead on scene at first, then found a pulse. Jaws of Life to get me out of the car, then life-flighted to the hospital. No one expected me to live through the first night. Woke up from a coma after 8 days, and was expected to have permanent brain damage. I had about a 1 minute long short term memory, and couldn't do ANYTHING for myself! Couldn't feed myself, go to the bathroom, etc. I could talk, very quietly, and my long term memory seemed ok. After 3 weeks in the hospital, everyone was amazed at how fast and well I was recovering. Was then turned down for the rehabilitation center, because I was beginning to feed myself, amongst do other things! No surgeries, and they didn't have to drill a hole in my head to relieve the pressure of all the blood on my brain. 1 week later I was released. Living back with my parents now, after moving out 12 years ago at age 20, lol. Double vision went away after about 6 months. Still no memory of the wreck or hospital stay, even the first few months after being released out are kind of a blur. Getting better though! Almost back to 100%!!!!

Thanks man! Still have my yellow 98 and 06 GT's. Was in my Dad's Cobra that afternoon. I was gonna buy it from him, as it just sat in his garage most of the time. 98 Cobra, 1 owner, only 22k original miles, all original, always sat in a garage under a car cover. Could have ate off of ANY part of that car! Insurance totaled it. Tree at 70mph will cause that I guess. He was gonna sell it to me for cheap, and buy him a new Jeep. Insurance gave him about twice more for it than he wanted me to give him. Bought it back from insurance though! Gonna swap the motor and trans from the Cobra in to my 98 GT.
