[Q] Update partially worked, could use some advice - Motorola Droid X2

I installed p3's prerooted gingerbread last night following the instructions in another thread here. To the best of my knowledge each step completed successfully. However, I have noticed a number of small things that indicate to me that not everything worked 100% the way it should. Can you provide thoughts on how to fix the following issues?
1)I cannot access blur or the updated blur widgets. I've cleared the default app settings under manage applications for go launcher, but everytime I click home go launcher is used.
2)I went to freeze the bloat and noticed none of the blur apps were listed in titanium backup (probably explains the above problem)
3)I went to do a factory reset via recovery (power up with vol down pressed). I accessed android recovery, but it just sat there with the green android and the yellow exclamation point. A battery pull was required to restart my phone. A factory reset from the settings menu worked, but did not resolve these problems
4)My free RAM is lower than I expected after a boot, about 100.
5)I am experiencing audio lag as I was prior to the v6 script in froyo.
Any ideas? I know people has used the sbf to go back from the OTA, but has anyone used it to go back form p3's update?

When you see the android with the exclamation point you have to press vol up and down at the same time

Just checking but did you and back to froyo and do a factory reset. It sounds like something went wrong in one of those processes. I'd retry the whole thing over. SBF first and factory reset before the phone has initial boot.

Yeah, I let it boot prior to ding the factory reset after the sbf. Question is how do I wipe before the initial boot? Once the sbf is done it just booted up, I believe.

I agree, sounds like you didn't factory reset. Unfortunately to advice the best results when upgrading you should sbf, factory reset and instal as little as possible, which in this case would be root and system recovery, then upgrade.
Oh and yes, you can safety sbf back, even from the rooted version.

Reboot into recovery mode, personally I think the factory reset works better this way rather than from the privacy menu.

So just so I'm clear about this, do I re-activate the phone before or after the SBF or the factory reset.

Sbf, then factory reset. Boot the phone up, the first thing it should do is ask you to activate. It's right there in the first time setup. You can't not do it.

I'm having the same problem. Except when i go to activate it, the screen just locks up and won't do anything. Iv'e sfb'ed and factory reset like 30 times and i still can't get past that screen. UUUUGGGGHHHH!!!!!!

nope.......ive been messing with all day and sbf'ed like 30 more times and as soon as it gets to the 1st screen where you have touch the droid guy, it just freezes and will not do anything........the screen rotates to landscape/portrait mode, but thats all it will do.

Sounds like your screen isn't registering your touch, you need to tap him to start, I had to tap him like 20 times last time I sbfed. bring it in to the store if you sbf and factory reset make them fix it

[ Q ] Evo 3D F/C auto turns off...

Hey guy's I bought my evo 3d off craigslist it was working fine few hours later i start getting f/c when i try to set my notification tones, htc hub, sometimes camera app as well. now recently it's gotten worse? freezes to a black screen when i try to open the phones dial pad "lights on the buttom stay lit tho.. or when i open my app drawer it either freezes where it won't recover or randomly shuts off? does this about 5 - 8 times a day! plus with moderate use IE: lil web surfin on wifi, browsing market on a full charge the battery hits the 15% mark within 30-45 minutes? its flashed on metro pcs but it had this prob before it was flashed...
any ideas? is it possible to wipe out the entire phone and re-install the OS and UI etc.. does it need root access for that?
Go to settings/sd and phone storage. There is an option for factory data reset that should put the phone back to factory, and you may need to re flash to metro after
Otherwise, you can run an ruu

I did a factory reset before I had it flashed, is a factory reset the same thing as wiping out the OS and re-installing it?, kinda like a reformat for a pc?
i'm worried that it's not a software issue since i already factory reset.
No, but on every reboot, anything that factory reset doesn't touch is restored to factory anyways because of the s-on protection. Only other choice is to run the ruu

Any idea where I can find an ruu for my device? I was told I need a stock recovery image? sorry I am new to this any help pointing me in the right direction would help.
On my phone, but
I believe this is the link. Just plug your phone in to your pc and run it. This is for a phone without any updates installed, if it gives you a boot loader error you will need a newer one (they're in the dev section here)

OTA update problems!

Ok...this freakin' OTA upgrade is pissing me off. My phone was rooted but otherwise stock. The update would dl and reboot. It gets to the Android guy and the progress bar only reaches about 30% then turns to an exclamation mark inside the triangle. Then the phone reboots and says the update failed.
Well, I have done 2 full factory resets and tried the update 4 times. Same thing every time. No other error messages.
Sounds like a hardware issue to me. Any suggestions?
Same thing happened to me......except my phone would totally boot up and got to the normal homescreen then just for no reason abt 15 seconds in to the homescreen it would just power off on its own and then go to either 1. the moto screen and say failed to boot 2. red exclamation point phone 3. moto screen with rsd services......what I did was charge my battery fully and then download the update from here posted by yay4juggs i think.....then flash it using rsd lite.....its pretty easy.....just didnt work for me the first time because my battery ended up being below 50%.....
link>>>>>>http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1233887
I can do that but there is no reason why the phone shouldn't take the official update. There are 2 other Photon users in our office. One rooted and one not. Both had no issues doing the update successfully the first time. Which tells me there is something wrong.
Seems I have deleted the Protips.apk and need to re-install it. Can someone send this to me please?
**EDIT...NM. Got it.
I havd the same issue. Rooted only. It would dl the ota then install about 30% then reboot to homescreen and promps me that instalation failed..if any one have any insight please do tell.

Can't access android recovery from boot menu

I have tried several times on several occasions, and all I get is the android Guy with the triangle with exclamation mark in it. Is there a problem with the phone, if so, how can I fix it?
I am rooted, running the stock setup. I updated the firmware to the latest that I've seen, I'll post it here shortly.
Any ideas?
Thank you in advance

Use ROM manager our quick boot, those will boot you straight into recovery
Sent from one focused MoPho
Quick Boot is what I use, religiously. It's a pretty legit program and haven't run into any issues using it on the Photon.
Tried quick boot, and still can't access recovery from boot. I can access it through the settings menu on the phone, but not from boot
sent from my MoPho
That's strange...what are yiu trying ti do via recovery again? And you are rooted and kocked correct?
Sent from my Photon via XDA
I am rooted, but am running the stock rom. I never went any further than rooting, as I like the 4g. Originally, it started as needing to perform a recovery to try to fix some issues. I ended up going through the settings menu, but would like to be able to access through the boot process. I am wondering if something is messed up.
sent from my MoPho
You COULD try bootstrap recovery. That may work in place of the stock one. (Not sure though haven't really played with it) but it seems strange you can't access itvia boot....
Sent from my Photon via XDA
It was strange to me as well, and I don't know if something is corrupt or not. I've been getting the mobile response IP error as well, so I am wondering if something is wrong somewhere in the phone

Mobile Response or Mobile Registration error?
Sent from my Photon via XDA
Registration, my mistake, I don't read the error anymore
sent from my MoPho
Yeah, I get the same error sometimes. It generally doesn't do anything but annoy me. It goes away by itself I don't have to change or do anything. If you want Boot Strap I have it on my computer and can upload it to this thread, and I have put it in another as well. So if you wanna try that, let me know.
Let me think about it, I may take it up to sprint, I've been having connectivity issues as well.
sent from my MoPho
Well....that is probably a good idea. As I've never run into an issue with not being able to boot into recovery. Even when I flashed back to stock, I was still able to access recovery. So tell them what's up and they may just exchange it. So you should be good to go afterwards, but if you still want bootstrap, just let me know. Or you can check in the Dev section. It's in there as well.
Cool, I appreciate the help

No problem Man. Let me know if Sprint takes care of you, and if that fixes your issue, if not, I'll see what else I can do.
Will do

Try turning off the phone.
Holding the power button and the volume down key until you see "fastboot".
Press the volume down key slowly until you see "Android Recovery".
Press the volume up key.
It will say loading.
The phone wait 3 seconds, and press both volume keys.
If this does not work, try an SBF.

When the little droid dude and triangle pop up press the volume up/down keys at the same time and the recovery menu options will pop up...without a full on custom recovery theres only a few options to choose from though...hope this helps..
EDIT: if you need to do any backup/flashing you will need to use bootstrap recovery if you haven't unlocked your bootloader and flashed an actual custom recovery...you install it like any other APK...through it you have those options...i don't have a direct link to the apk but search for it on here and you'll find it...thats how i found it...

[Q] Photon boot loop

Hi,
After much work getting my Photon onto PagePlus, I finally had everything set up and working about right.
Then I decided to port my old number over, from then on I had a blue triangle over the signal strength bars, but talk and text worked so I was basically happy.
Then last night I was poking around in Battery Monitor Widget and under their Tests button I decided to change a setting from "CDMA/GSM" to "CDMA only." Immediately or very soon thereafter, the Photon rebooted. It booted past the Motorola and Sprint logos until I saw the notification bar and "Starting Services" A couple icons show up on the notification bar, then it reboots. Lather, rinse, repeat.
I have found that by going into the boot/recovery menu I can choose "Boot Android (No BP)" and get back to Android. However, the cellular radio is disabled, it has a red circle/crossbar on the signal strength. I don't know if that's because of the "No BP" or because of whatever is causing the phone to reboot.
I'm currently working on backing up my files to the external SD.
So at this point, HELP! I know I can wipe the phone, but I am willing to work to fix whatever is wrong rather than just give up and wipe it. Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks.
Try this

Is that procedure destructive; will I lose my layout and settings? Also I have 2.3.4, that procedure specifies 2.3.5.
Try dialing *#*#4636#*#*
Then choose Phone info
Then pick CDMA auto PRL
Ah, that's the screen I got to through the app, that's where the problem seems to have begun.
It's set on "Unknown" and just reverts back to "Unknown" with any of the options I pick.
My cell radio isn't working; I have a red circle-bar on my signal strength, and the only way I can boot is "Boot Android (No BP)". Not sure if either of those are a factor in the setting not sticking.
Try to flash a photon 2.3.4 sbf or do a factory reset
Sent from my MB855 using xda app-developers app
Factory reset will delete the data on my phone and if you read my first post I don't want to do that. I just need to fix the cell radio / reboot loop problem.
The sbf thing looks interesting, I will try that. It's supposed to keep apps, contacts, and settings. This page looks like a good tutorial: http://www.motosunfire.com/sbf-restore-photon/
EDIT: It worked, and everything seems to be just like I left it. Thanks for the advice!
Now I just have to get flashed to Page Plus again.
I'm guessing you have 2.3.4 am I right

Yep, used the instructions on the page I mentioned to install a 2.3.4 SDB file. Got it reflashed to PagePlus and re-rooted (found a really easy root script on the motosunfire site, it's just a .bat file) and I'm a happy cat.

[Q] Sync icon will not go away

Hi Everyone,
Last Month while away on business in NC my rooted Droid X2 started acting up. When using the hotspot feature it would drop the hotspot after 1 minute then reboot. Once rebooted the hot spot was on off on off on off on off making it useless. So I first wiped cache then data went so far as a restore to factory reset. So now I started reinstalling apps and accounts. After the Gmail sign in phone said sync icon will go away when done syncing. Icon came on went away after 5 minutes or so then back on and has been on since. How do I get it to stop syncing? I have tried all kinds of suggestions I have found on the web but none will get the icon to go away??
Please help me !!!:crying:
Thank you in advance

Sir,
Please wait until mods will move this thread to the device specific forum.
Stand by
Good luck
Your last hope may be too sbf to complete stock state. If that doesn't work, you May have borked hardware. It does seem you have just a software issue though. After you sbf, you will have to root again.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1317707
Edit: the reason you might have to sbf is a data and cache wipe will not put /system back to normal. If you messed some settings or files up in system, only an sbf will fix it.

Thank you Uzephi I did the sbf to 2.3.4 registered the phone then rerooted. I checked the box to sync google and ended up with the same issue. So I redid. The reset and upgraded to 2.3.5 rerooted same thing. Finaly I did mot check the google sync after 3rd attempt. It finally went away. The icon may not be a problem itself but it drained the battery in 3 hours. A brand new battery infact. So thanks for your reply I am back to a ful day of battery sometimes 2 days if I don't use it lolol.
Matt
Hi
I forgot to mention I did wipe cache and data the fhirst time.
Thanks
Matt
Unfortunately, if sbf didn't work on fixing your issue, it could be something hardware related. Are you able to get GPS lock? If your GPS chip is messed up and cannot get a lock Google could possibly have sync issues as it will try to log your GPS for your check in history.
