Remember those few months when we asked samsung/verizon for froyo? I am now asking the community, when can we get gingerbread from samsung? , for old time sakes

Ok...so I have been following just about every forum regarding the release of Froyo for the Samsung Vibrant. I understand that it has been released slowing all throughout the world. What the fire is going on with the release for the US?!
Does anyone know when this will be out? When it comes out is someone going to post it so we can just download the legit ROM version of Froyo, instead of having to download all the modified versions that have bugs galore? Seriously is it that hard for Samsung/Tmobile to take care of Vibrant users?

the froyo that is being slowly released isnt for the vibrant it is for the I9000 but if u really want fryoy a majoruty of the bugs have been worked out in masters froyo rom but one thing u will find with all froyo roms is that it doesnt have gps because the drivers for gps are missing
Can't we just flash I9000 Froyo to Vibrant? Is there any major hardware difference?
Well that sucks...so when is the REAL Froyo going to be released for our US Vibrants?! I've seen Masters stuff...but to not have GPS working and the battery drain was keeping me from switching. I think there are still issues with data connection and contact syncing with facebook icons.
from what I have heard at work (I work for Deutsche Telekom) Froyo for our Vibrant is supposed to start rolling out middle of this month, however the rollout of the JI6 update has been extended because it is taking longer to send out ota than originally thought. We will have everyone updated to official froyo by the end of the year, but it should start to roll out in a week or two.

how hard to fix it? Fix it for what function? Thanks
where is the fake froyo? wonder how one is real and one is fake.
Go under vibrant android and development you will find froyo roms. But they aren't "fake" they are simply roms that have been ported over to our vibrants. The only thing is 1. If you flash a froyo rom it will wipe your internal memory card and 2. and drivers for gps arg there therefore we don't have gps. 3. from what I have heard team whiskey/bionix is cooking up a 2.2 rom and I think they found a way to port the drivers over to our vibrant. so just sit tight and wait for that or just backup your internal memory card then flash a froyo rom
Noob here. So now that we have official unlock of the Atrix, does this mean we might have a MIUI build coming?
I am excited about trying custom roms and this one in particular.
Thanks
It would take a while im sure. we dont even have CM yet.
Im more into sense ported to it
Hey, Im with you Sense would be cool too.
Just wondering how long these things usually take. Wish I was more of a developer..... I would do it myself.
This was just tweeted by ibproud:
"Anyone prepared to part with a Motorola Atrix for Miui Development? Will pay around ~$200 & credit you in the ROM. Pls RT"
So with the ICS event just ending I'm curious to if this will affect the Atrix at all? Can I be expecting any sort of ICS rom to flash whether it's supported officially or not?
He said it... But all of us muggles are thinking it. My excitement is unfathomable and I have no idea where I am going to get my ICS fix... We are still in beta for CM7 so what are the chances of us getting CM9 when it appears? How long are we talking before the atrix can share in all of the vanilla ICS goodness, and will it be before CM9? What do the timelines usually look like for these kinds of things?
They mentioned that all gingerbread devices should get ICS too. But who knows how that statement will hold up.
Read this:

let's just hope that it's gonna be next month
currently you can install the wallpapers and the font to satisfy your crave for ICS. i also saw the system dump being available...

Certainly, I can say with 100% certainty that nobody knows WHEN for certain.
ICS roms will pop up here as fast as humanly possible once we have source code. As for an official update from Samsung to ICS: given the history with the Captivate getting official gingerbread, don't hold your breath. In fact don't even stay up late waiting for it to get home. You might as well order a pizza and turn on Netflix because you're in for a long, lonely night like an Eagles song.

There shouldn't be any doubt as to whether all the GSII variants will get ICS. They WILL. It is Samsung's flagship phone they are going to support it for a while. Samsung, HTC, Motorola, and Sony Ericsson have signed a new contract with Google to provide more timely updates. Given you may have to wait a few months after source is released to get ICS, after than updates should come very fast. But either way...custom ROMs will probably get you there sooner.
i know i know you guys will look at me and say things like "wtf you asking this for now!!"

Install one by one and try out for 1-2 days.
This kind of question is strictly prohibited in XDA.
Not only do we frown upon this type of highly subjective question, but it also shouldn't be in Development.
