Just wondering if anyone can offer any sort of estimate based on previous phone experience. This is my first time following a phone from root to Cyanogen and I don't know what to expect in terms of a timeline. Are we looking at days, weeks, months?
Obviously you guys probably arent developing it, but if you've seen the timeline happen before can you share your experience?

I know kmobs is testing an alpha for sensation, so in theory it should be soon. You would do well to refrain from asking these types of questions in the future. You will get flamed.

Well I do appreciate the heads up. There are honestly so many rules and posts that will put you under fire that I go through any effort possible NOT to post.
Im curious of an ETA also, but being a long time ex-member of the EVO CM7 club i know the rule. Im gonna go a different direction and ask if anyone knows if one is even under development? not too worried about release just as long as i know one is in progress.

One is under development for both the sensation and the evo 3d.

No matter the age, 'her' threads so far are less than inspiring according to my 15 year old neice that is half nerd-ette and still rocking the OG Droid.

It was more of a reminder than a question.
Even though there's no use for the source right now, it usually takes htc like a month to release it. Someone should request it asap.

umm you send HTC emails just like for the bootloader unlock. Thats the most you can do bud.
And then they will send you a generic reply back stating that they will release it when they have it ready and will comply with the GPL rules. They have a decent amount of time to comply if i remember correctly. With the EVO4G we usually got stuff in a lil over a month or two if i had to guess off the top of my head.
it'll be on their developer section of HTC's site when its released.
Just have to keep sending them emails asking about it (POLITELY)
It's been almost two months since they released the Evo 4G/Sensation firmware with no source for it so I'm starting to wonder if anyone has reported them for it yet.

I have requested the kernel from them twice. Both times I've gotten the same copy+paste responses about it being on developer.htc.com when ready and when telling them about their GPL violation they give me the "90-120 days" community compliance bull****.
I can't remember where I saw it posted, but someone has already asked HTC to release the source code for the kernel under GPL. HTC responded back with a canned response that they will release it when they can and don't have a timeframe etc...
I can't wait for either full Asop rI'm with working sound and camera or even better Cm7, my favorite rom.

Myn is developing for the Evo 3D. In fact I am running Warm 2.3 on mine as we speak. He may release here once it is finished, but a lot of devs are running away from XDA because of the whiny and demanding people that are here(not everyone, but the ones that are, are ruining it for everyone). Rootzwiki is where you can find Myn's Rom.

So we have S-Off now. Therefore, there are no excuses not to be supported in Cyanogen minus the source code and Offical OTA of the ICS update. Am I correct? Miui, Cyanogen, and AOSP/AOKP . I hope the ball starts rolling because I'm estatic!!! Post in and tell me the truth and your opinion.
The ball has been rolling. S-Off has nothing to do with AOSP/AOKP. DMeadows and I'm sure others has been working on a Cyanogenmod port for some time now. Protekk recently joined the quest as well. Read up in the dev section

s-off doesn't mean AOSP, MIUI, etc.
As stated about a thousand times before the RIL, which is what is holding us back, is not going to be any easier to get with s-off.

S-Off = Hboot fully unlocked.
Aosp/Aokp = RIL source needed, not S-Off.

What I'm asking is, since we have S-Off, won't people like cyanogen be MORE likely to support us since you wont have to flash hboots and what have you to change roms and radios and such? I understood the whole RIL problem holding AOSP back a long time ago. I'm talking about "Official" support.

I'm new to HTC. Motorola was much simplier to flash things, so this dev unlock and s-off stuff is all new to me. Do I get it? yes. Has it taken a while? Yes. Do I understand why the RIL is the bottleneck... only that I know whats needed to fix it is in the offical source that we don't currently have so it can have the right files and commands. So seriously, please stop the *sigh*, "We've covered this one thousand million times", "Omg not this again" comments. I'm a mature adult. I'd like to talk to some who are also.

what do you expect from us when someone with 8 posts, asks a question incorrectly? We can't guess what you intended to say, and we had every right to be annoyed with what you posted as your original post has been asked "about a million times."

I don't think the s off is going to bring any devs that wouldn't have taken on the project while it was s on. Most of the devs who walked away from the rezound early on did so because early on the user base was rude, demanding, appreciative, and many were unintelligent and appreciative.
It has improved, there's a lot of really respectful and brilliant rezound users, and there's a lot of great devs among us, but as a whole, maybe due to the marketing of such nice hardware being based on "beats" there's still a lot of drama and unneeded crap being stirred up by a few bad apples.
The aosp ball started rolling last week again with protekk deciding to take on RIL, and others will also contribute to the effort.
S-off is greatly appreciated by me and a huge help to the community as a whole. But it's definitely not what was holding up AOSP in my opinion. I don't know any devs who would be asked to help out on the RIL by a friend of theirs and would say "no way I'm touching that because that phone is s on with an oem unlocked bootloader.

My problem is that there is no reason to post if all you're going to do is put down the question. If you have a problem answering the question... just don't answer it.
