For those that dont want to use TEAMWIN Recovery, or were unable to get a recovery to flash from S-OFF Process...

Yeah, at one point clockworkmod didn't backup the WiMax RSA keys (doh!)
I'm using CWM now though, I used Amon RA's recovery on the OG EVO. So far so good.

Does the battery charge with fastboot off and the phone off now (ie is it a new version of cwm for the Evo 3d)?

Not sure, I'm trying to find a changelog for CWM, having a little trouble finding it.
EDIT: found this, but doesn't specify minor revisions.
http://gh-pages.clockworkmod.com/ROMManagerManifest/CHANGELOG.txt

Working good...
Did a full backup/restore to test.... also flashed 2 roms and 1 kernel...

I have CWM Recovery installed from Revolution.
I installed Clockwork Mod Rom Manager and before I try to update I wanted to see what thinks I have and what it's going to upgrade too.
But after poking through the other options it thinks I have NO Clockwork recovery installed.

U have to install the one from the Rom Manager App

And you're using the same version of CWM to create and restore the band?

[Q] CWM vs. TWRP?

Are there any clear benefits of one recovery over the other? I'm a fan of TeamWin but I'm comfortable with CWM... Is either recovery clearly superior?
Preference is the deciding factor.
Appreciate my help? Thank me
Not sure which one is better, but i've been using ClockworkMod 4.0.1.4 that came with Revolutionary S-OFF tool and it's worked flawlessly so far.
Do CWM work with Rom Manager
I personally like TWRP for the customization options plus the race horse is kinda cool too.
Nope...

Yes. I just updated to 4.0.1.5 with it today. Fixes charging bug while OFF with Fastboot off.

Yep, I was curious and used rom manager to flash the recovery... worked perfect. I enjoy being able to go into rom manager and select "reboot to recovery" instead of having to hold down button combination (i know, lazy).

You can just click on the first option in Rom Manager, which is "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery". That's pretty much it.

I can confirm that 4.0.1.5 fixes the charging bug as well.
I'm a big fan of Rom Manager. I use it to organize my backups. I've used since day one of the OG Evo and never had a problem with it. If anyone is having any bugs, go into the market and download rom manager and update clockwork mod recovery. Mines working flawlessly!
I remember a long time ago, people claimed that clockwork recovery had a problem with wiping cache and dalvik cache. Is that still an issue? Thats the only reason I stopped using rom manager back in the day.

It did on the OG EVO, but so far on the EVO 3D I haven't had any problems.

Punctuation is your friend. Use it. Not just to make yourself sound more intelligent, but to help the eyes of those reading it. =D
there shouldnt be any issues when flashing the newest clockwork right? say, making a backup in the CWM that came with REVO and then trying to restore it with the newest clockwork? i feel like that is an issue simply because i made a backup of my stock rom with the newest recovery and i got the MD5 error, and i cant restore it. im doing a full backup and restore test right now, ill report back.
EDIT:alright so i was able to do a full restore with the newest clockwork. i guess i just got a bad NAND on my stock rom. and the funny thing is the same thing happend with a stock rom on my G2. what causes this damn MD5 error?
That would be appreciated by many here... Don't want to get stuck with no way to restore

I installed TWRP, but I'd like to be able to use the CWM Rom Manger. Can I download Rom Manager from the Market, and have it install CWM over my TWRP install?

Clockworkmod doesn't work

I have hboot 1.5 and used fastboot to flash the clockworkmod 5.0.2.0. shooter image, but whenever I try to boot into recovery my phone sits at the HTC screen for a while then reboots into the OS. TWRP works fine, but I prefer CWM. Anyone else have his problem/ figure out how to fix it? I have also tried using rom manger to flash cwm, but the same thing happens.

Have you gone to Settings>Power and Unchecked the Fastboot option?
Unless there have been some new developments, only older CWMR versions work on EVO3D. I use 4.0.1.4

Where are all the CWM defenders now?
*Anytime ANYONE has an issue with it, they scatter.
*Anytime ANYONE has something negative to say about it, they get all up in arms and butthurt trying to defend its effectiveness.
This OP has just provided another ^^^ post stating that it is, in fact, not working correctly...
Deja Vu all over again.
By the way, OP, you state that TWRP "works fine", but you "prefer" CWM...
(Why would you prefer something that doesn't work over something that has been proven to work time and time again?)
CWM hanging?
I've got another problem with CWM. Planning to install a custom ROM on a Blade and booted into CWM ( v5.0.2.0 ) and it looks OK, gives me the menu but if I select any option it just hangs at the "hat" image. If I press the phone's menu button I can get back to CWM menu and select another option with the same result but can't go anywhere else.
The phone will only boot into CWM and I can't access the phone via USB.
Is it bricked? Any ideas how I can get out of this?

Uninstall clockworkmod recovery

How do I get back to normal recovery???
Cmw has been nothing but trouble for the longest time I couldn't even flash into recovery ,my phone just kept rebooting then I had to upgrade to clockworkmod touch just to get it work. It finally works I guess...but don't want it anymore.

why dont you guys try 4ext custom recovery at 4ext.net you cant go wrong there

[Recovery] ClockWorkMod - Touch and Touchless

Koushik basically has the option of making recovery porting easier, since there's no CWM here really, I've built both a touch and non touch versions.
Basically these are just the img files, I prefer not to make a flashable zip until some test it to confirm both work, I have a few ideas to build better versions, though I don't really see the need at the moment to implement though with 4EXT around, it's still good to have options.
Flash these recoveries manually or via hasoon's tool:
CWM Touch IMG
Server link: http://jenkins.cyanogenmod.com/job/recovery/6430/
CWM Touchless IMG
Server link: http://jenkins.cyanogenmod.com/job/recovery/6428/
Credits:
Koushik for making his server open and customizing it to build/port cwm using a stock recovery.
HTC for the stock recovery [lol]
Its highly recommended to use this only if you have S OFF

what i don't understand with 4ext is that u need superuser to install it, but u need a custome recovery to install superuser, seems like dead loop? correct me if im wrong.
Install 4ext recovery first. Then if you want you can install the control application on Android which requires superuser.
Also, is this the latest version with incremental back ups?

You don't need superuser to install 4EXT, it can be installed via fastboot like any other recovery.

CWM has incremental backups now? All I can tell you is that it's the latest version for both touch and regular cwm recovery.
I was able to load the CWM Touch without S-Offing and flash my first Amaze ROM (successfully is TBD though)
How do you flash these via fastboot? Do I have to rename them?
Can someone tell me pros and cons of both 4ext recovery and cwm touch. Which one is better? I have 4ext, no issues so not sure if I should change it.

yes it also supports the very important smart flash feature which helps users flash kernels properly without being S-OFF

TWRP vs Amon Ra

Going to re-root again and probably ROM again, debating between TWRP and Amon Ra, is one any better than the other?
Probably going to ROM with Infection or XenonHD, is either one preferred with those ROMs?
Twrp is more updated and in newer ROMs there may be an update system included and to have the update automatically install for you when you click update, the recovery needs to support something called "open script" I believe that's what its called. And amon ra doesn't support that but twrp and cwm do, I actually switched from amon ra to twrp and I like it way better and the open script comes in handy when you don't want to manually install zips or updates.

Awesome, sounds like a good enough reason for me to give TWRP a shot. Thanks.
I was using TWRP for a while with no issue and liked it. Then for some reason it started having an issue with not restoring new backups. Didn't try to reinstall but moved to CWM Touch. I like it but backups are not compatible between the two and TWRP does have more features.

Quick question, can twrp be flashed over amon ra? And to Ace, if you look in the Infection thread I believe Neo recommends flashing with amon ra.

Doesn't CWM Touch have the dead battery bug where it won't let the battery charge if it goes completely dead? Or has that been fixed, it would be real deal breaker for me...

Yes. I prefer twrp but occasionally run into a rom/kernel that won't flash. I keep amon ra to flash on those occasions then reinstall twrp with the goomanager app

I've never had problems with twrp on backups or installs. I've only used and been on the latest 2.5.0.0 version though
So idk if you we're on a older version or something
And you should be able to flash a recovery on top of another it just replaces the recovery.img and ROM performance shouldn't be effected by the recovery. That doesn't really make sense so use the one you want
