After updating to 2.3.4, I am not able to change screen lock to "pattern" !!
Option for "Pattern" is disabled and says Disabled by remote phone administrator.
I tried de-selecting all the apps listed in Device Administrators but no luck.
I even removed my work email (Corporate Sync) and then restarted the phone...again...no luck.
Right now I have PIN and Fingerprint setup.
Any idea...help!!??
Thanks...
How did you get to the update? Ota or sbf

Have you updated? The update addresses issues with the fingerprint scanner.
yes, i have updated to 1.57 rooted GladAtrix 2 v4.2.3...
what should i do then?

Mine did that to me a few times before I updated, but since the update it has worked perfectly. Did you try deactivating it and set it up again? I know WidgetLocker can use the fingerprint scanner, I dont know if you want to try that but it might be an option..
but I can't even stup the fingerprint scanner t scan...in the Location & security settngs...
is my fingerprint scanner broken??? or should I reload the stock rom to see if itis becuse of the GladiAtrix2 v4.2.3???
You cant set up the fingerprint scanner? Huh that sucks. What kind of error does it give you if any? You might want to sbf and see if it works again on stock.
I seem to have that problem at times. Restarting the phone seems to do the trick

It doesn't even response at all at the setup and no error, it just likes the scanner isn't there...
I will try to flash back to the stock rom and see if it will still work

I have tried that, but it doesn't work for me...
It happened to me twice in the last 7 days that I have had my Atrix, both times when I turned it back on in the morning (I have it off at night).
I had to take the battery out and then start all over again just power cycling didn't work.
I am hoping it doesn't happen too often, the device is perfect and all customized and I don't want to start all over again including un rooting this one.
just flash back to 1.26, but still not working not responding...
going to update to 1.57 and see if it will work...not I think it is broken...
Happened to me this morning after a power up. Restarted it again, some 'suite' process force closed on the lock screen, and it's been okay since.
edit: this was on 1.5.7 stock
I guess I can confirm that my fingerprint scanner is dead...
so I guess I have a reason to get a LG one now... this one will go to my girlfriend...
or... is there a screen lock for Atrix 4G which slide down to unlock (like HTC one) instead of sliding right to left
Im not sure how long ago this happened(a few days i think) but when i go to unlock my phone it doesnt ask me to enter my pattern. I have a pattern lock screen set up but it bypasses that and takes me straight into the phone. I have fLASHED THE 2.3.4 stock sbf with pudding but that did nothing and i have also factory reset my phone to try and fix it. Not sure what to do at this point and i cant take it to ATT because of the "unlock" that appears when the phone is turning on. Anyone know of any solutions to this problem?
Thanks
You have to go to setting /location and security/ and in there should be passcode delay(or something like that) ,it will come with 20 minutes default, change it to when phone is locked, I think

Wow i feel like a complete idiot.
Hello,
I run my own website over ssl. I haven't bought a trusted certificate, but have generated my own root cert. From this one I have generated various other certificates for my servers and clients.
When I install those certificates on my stock Galaxy Nexus or my CM9 Touchpad, ICS tell me that I must set a pin/pw/pattern to unlock my device. It seems there isn't anyway to store certificates without enabling one of these unlock method.
Once the certificates are installed there is no way to reenable slide to unlock without removing the certificates from the device.
I don't want that. I have generated my own certificates and I have full control on them at the server side. If my device get lost or stollen, I just need to revoke them, and I can do this easily. So this type of security is useless for me.
I would like to be able to use slide to unlock or even "no lock screen" while keeping my certificates installed on my device.
Does someone knows a way to do that. Or give me some advices about where to search ?
Thanks for reading !
I have searched everywhere and didn't found any information about this.
Does someone know where the default security policies are stored ? are they stored as plain text ? are they signed ?
Same issue here dude:
No device administrators but still can't disable pattern lock screen
[MOD] [REQUEST] Avoid slider unlock on 4.0 with credentials
I found that using tasker and secure settings, I can disable pattern unlock even if I have certificates installed. The only problem is that the mod can't be permanent. After a few hours with pattern disabled. Android will ask you an unknown password to access your certificates. Reenabling pattern unlock via secure settings solves the problem for a few more hours ...

Well, I suppose it has some sense. Having a custom certificate means restricted access for a reason, and is also reasonable to ask for minimum credentials to the one that is using such device. You wouldn't leave the keys of the office of your work hanging outside in the door would you?
I keep the keys in my pocket, like my phone. No need to put them in a locked case. It would be annoying to have to find the key to open the case so I can get access to the key that would open the door ...
There's an app that disables your lock screen on the market.

Could you post the name or link please?
No Lock Screen.
There's one on there that you install using your computer, and it downloads to your phone and disables the lock screen. It's mainly for a forgotten password though.
I'm thinking that no lock screen is what you need.
That completely removes it though.
I suggest installing MagicLocker to replace your lock screen entirely.

That kind of applications don't work like supposed when Device Administrators are installed. Just after that custom unlock takes you anyway to the pattern or password. Try it.
This worked for me I agree with you: there's no reason that I can not have my phone without lockscreen protection just to sign into my school's wifi network.

PS: Diggin those thanks if this works for you
Just an addendum to toggling pattern lock on and off using root, when you disable pattern lock, the phone will revert to whatever the last lock method was. If it was "None" the phone will turn straight onto the homescreen. If it was "Slide" you'll see the side to unlock keyguard.
If you want to change this, go into Settings > Security > Screen lock > Slide then repeat but choose Settings > Security > Screen lock > Pattern. This effectively sets the 2 lock types the phone will toggle between.

Pretty green to this. I rooted my razr and it was running like a dream. Quickoverclock advanced, wifi tethering worked great. Got tripped and changed my google password which affects all my syncing. Should have engaged brain and asked before I did the following. Reset to factory specs from settings. It was the only way that it would let me change the google password in the phone prerooted or the only way I knew how to change...and V was no help. I knew the stock version better than any of their reps..
That being said, The phone still allows tethering. The superuser apk is still there but I was going to use the razrutility by mattl but will not work. I have no bootstrap now, lost my overclock...Basically it works like an unrooted phone with wifi tethering enabled. When I use the DroidRzr Utility Bat is responds with designated path unknown. I mean it is OK, the main thing I wanted to do was tether but there were some other things I liked and they are gone. If I can return it to bone stock, I can unroot it again. I got that down... Just don't know how to get past this. Anyone have a suggestion?
Try reinstalling the apps you used to get boots trap and over clock.
Btw you could have removed the google account from account settings and not had to factory reset. Its done now so we'll try to help.
Also, how did you over clock? The kernel is locked at the moment so does not allow this.

Which software build are you running?
So I just woke up and went to unlock my phone and it came up saying the fingerprint scanner stopped responding and must close so it asked for my backup password, I entered it and it said it was wrong. I was 100% sure that was the password I had set but it was saying it wasn't so I tried a multitude of other ones. Then it let me finally sign in by my Google Account so I did and it says it's wrong..it isn't. I've signed in to Gmail on my computer with the same info I'm entering into the phone but the phone won't let me login!
I don't know if this has happened to anyone yet but I've now tried restarting and then shutting off and turning back on and the sensor still just won't work and none of my alternative logins are working, does anyone have any suggestions other than resetting the phone? Thanks

My phone's not rooted, everything's stock. It has a warranty but there's no stock available. It was fine until this morning, I've had it since the 9th so I just think something messed up that's software related.
