[MOD]Battery Mods! (Updated 5-5-12 for ICS Leak) - HTC EVO 3D

These Mods will work for any stock rom that has an unedited framework-res.apk.
Just wipe cache and dalvik and flash from recovery...
These mods are for cdma versions of the EVO 3D...they will not work on gsm model phones, unless noted!
Many of these images were found all around xda, the net, etc, so giving proper credits to where their source was from, is almost impossible...so thank you to anyone that created these battery mod images!

Tastes great, less filling!

ok good stuff here.

FYI, this also somehow changed the sync icon from sense white to aosp green. Thanks for the mod.
Edit: also changed the downloading (in progress) to green.
Edit2: and the installing icon, green.
BANG! from my shooter...

THANKS VINCHEN......I'm still not to familiar with adb (still)....so this method couldn't have been any easier....thanks again bro

Very nice, looks good. I'm using this in conjunction with the Shooter-Rewind ROM. Does this also change the Sync icon color? I noticed it's green now
edit:
NVM on the above question, I missed the post from the guy who said it changed his as well. I don't mind the change, looks nice

Would people rather have all the other images back to stock and just the battery have percentages?
And do you want me to add another package for GB (upright) battery with %?

I personally like the different color icons. I guess an upright battery would save some space on the notification bar right? That would be cool

Could u maybe also make a zip to take out the gps notification. I haven't seen a flashable zip yet.

Added a few more Mods...
Gingerbread battery (percentages are kind of hard to see because of the "gingerbread green")
Stock Battery with the alternate download and sync icons
Stock Battery with percentages (battery is only icons that changed from stock)

Very nice man. Thank you

Can you make a circle battery with percentage zip please ?

That's normal, android has a problem with it's battery meter. That's why some people report awesome battery life and others report horrible battery life.

I thought that phones that exhibit this behavior would still shut down when it thought it was at 0 even though the battery had plenty of charge left? The way to resolve this on SGS1 is to let the phone run down until it dies. Then fully charge it to 100 as this will "teach" the phone the true extremes of the battery capacity and thus improve the accuracy of battery reading level.

Use that widget/app to check the mV on the battery. Generally, 4200mV is 100% and 2700mV is 0%.
Don't go back to apple dude))
It will be better on your next run, the battery stats need adjusting that's all... I think there is a way of resetting it other than in CWM. What you need to do is drain your phone down until it has no battery completely, then wipe battery stats, then fully charge, you should have truer statistics after....

Depends on the phone, each android device uses different battery driver. Nexus one for example shuts down at zero even if more capacity is remaining cause that's the way the ds2784 battery chip works with the nexus driver. Seems like the galaxy s 2 works different.
That's has been a habit with Touchwiz/Samsung phones. Battery dies after staying at 0%.

How does the app do that!? We must find a way to make the whole system tick battery in 1% increments. Mostly because I like geekyouup's battery widget. I found that the Battery Circle Widget ticks in 1% increments, so that is a possible replacement.

Good find. I'm currently using battery monitor widget which has a notification display and you can download a lot of display options. I've just started using this so I don't know if it'll kill my battery. Does your display impact battery life that you can tell?

Best combo for battery life (Rom + Kernel)

What's a good ROM + Kernel combo for good battery life w/o sacrificing performance. I've tried several ROMs (Sick Sense (currently ruining), Clean Rom, SHOGUN, Synergy Nightly, Steel Rom and many others. yet can't get decent battery life (nothing over 6hrs). What are u guys prefer/running?
My first question is, is this on stock battery?
Second question is, how much do you use your phone?
Ok I'm on clean ROM 2.5 and I'm getting amazing battery life for how much I use my phone. Here is a screenshot with stock battery on a easy day with all the wakelocks.

Make sure your battery is truly 2000mah. Look in the accessories forum and there's a couple of threads on 3rd party batteries. I think yours is a lot less than 2000mah.
The ones that people have checked out are by seidio, Anker, and chichitec.

as always with battery life the main thing is going to be service. at home if i leave my phone sitting near a window it can sit in standby with data turned on for 4 hours and drop max 3 percent. at work i can lost 10 percent in 30 minutes if i check it once. the building ruins my service even though it shows high bars. damn cdma. on tmobile i had green for service while now i hit the brownish yellow thats below yellow
but im also on cleanrom and the battery is great in normal out of work use

One thing I notice is the screen usage on your phone, look like very minimal use and in my phone the battery killer is the screen. I mean this in a nice way when I ask; Are you trying to see how you can "make" the battery last or are you trying to see how long the battery will last?
Thanks everyone for the input and feedback!
I understand what you mean. No I wasn't trying to see how long I could make it last, it was just a busy day at work and I didn't have a ton of time to play with it. I was just trying to give you an idea of my battery usage all will vary on the user of course. However while the screen may not have been in use much I have horrible reception at work and clean ROM has personally given me the best battery life so far.
Edit: sorry I just read back over that and please don't take the way I said things as a flame or rude, I didn't mean it that way.

I get around 16hrs. dual core constant, FB, words with friends, texting, winamp with bluetooth headphones.
Do you have that sync enabled in the background, that drains power.
Three things turn GPS off when not using turn auto brightness off and dim it down till you are happy.. Also make sure you don't have any 3rd party apps keeping your phone awake..
I can get about 24hrs of use outta my phone moderate use or more.. Calls, texts, xda app,youtube.. Anyway I am also on stock kernel... I use a Seidio 1900 mha batt slightly better compared to stock batt. Stock battery I could get about 18hrs with moderate use... If your on your phone playing for 6 to 4 hrs str8 that may kill your phone quicker lol.. Display is the main thing eatin up the juice...
In almost every bad battery post I always see bad signal. Turn off turn off the 4G unless you are actively using it.
This is what pisses me off about HTC phones lol. In battery threads all you see is "turn off, turn off, turn off." We've come so accustomed to it that we actually feel this is routine. It sucks.

So if your oced and consistantly streaming video or playing a game yeah there is no way to help you besides get a laptop

freeza has ramdisk mods that help with battery life (old and new base)
my kernels also get great battery life (old base)
(depending on apps installed on ur device)
both these options help a lot, without disabling stuff
on warm 3.5 build 116 and my r14 kernel, default settings - i get 26-28 hours between charges with light to moderate use
heavy use - abt 14-16 hours (with over 70% of battery going on screen-on - lcd backlight will drain battery FAST...nothing to really do abt it except lower brightness)

How have peoples battery life on the new ROM? I've noticed that since I installed it, that my battery is going dead in about half the time it was on the preview release. Any ideas/suggestions?

Mine seems to wear down faster than it used to (not nearly as fast as the BAMF leak). I wouldn't call it twice as fast, just faster. What I have noticed is it also charges quite a bit faster than it used to. I like the faster battery charge, unless it's just giving us a false reading when it's not really full, which might also explain the quicker wear down.
I use the extended battery so wear down is less of an issue for me.
Make sure you check the battery menu under system settings. The first time for me the light turned green but under that menu it said it was still at 78 pct

I'm running liquid's ics (jmod) public beta 2 with the combo radio and my battery life is awesome. I haven't run it down yet, but it's easily lasting twice as long as my old gingerbread rom which could go a day without a charge and light use. When it's idling in ICS, the battery life seems to hardly drop at all.
I think I figured out why my battery wears down quicker. I've always kept LTE turned off. It's been on lately, so that would account for my additional battery drain.
I set battery percentage to show up on my lock screen, so it's easy to see the battery percent without going through the menu.
I got over 13 hrs. today. Most of the day I put the phone in CDMA evdo auto which helped a lot. I work in a lot of areas that don't get 4g so it drains my battery super fast searching for a signal all day.

My battery life has been horrible for months. I can leave my phone plugged in all night and it will only charge to 52%. If I turn it off and charge it for a couple hours it'll read 72%. That is as high as I can get it to go. No fully charged. For about the last 3 weeks it'll drain in about 2 hours. I've been running the new radio recently and still see no change. I even turn off LTE and still don't see much of a difference. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Drain it and charge 8 hours with it off then reset battery memory.
