Been noticing ever since performing S off and rooting my evo 3d every custom rom i flash still gets the same benchmark results with quadrant, linpack, and smartbench or worse then running stock. Even with running Rc Mix overclock kernel with numerous roms and setting clock speed to 1.5 and 1.7 gighrz oc benchmark numbers are significantly worse then stock. I know these tests are pretty much for bragging rights and not real world usage, but coming from an inspire 4g when i oced to over 1.5 was getting 3000+ on quadrant.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
I haven't looked too deep into it, but I've noticed some rooted devices around here pushing 7500 on CF-bench which is much more than the SGSII and over 3000 as well on quadrant.
Scores will continue to significantly increase once we have an AOSP rom/CM with more optimized kernels.
Use setcpu and set both sliders to Max and governor to performance and retest

He is Correct. S-OFF means that the NAND portion of the device is unlocked and can be written to. The default setting for HTC’s devices is S-ON, which means that neither can you access certain areas of the system nor can you guarantee a permanent root. Furthermore, signature check for firmware images is also ensured by the S-ON flag.
S on, s off... Nothing to do with phones performance!

that would be sweet, i read that its only stable to 1.7.....thats what everyone keeps telling me as well. I dont think ive seen a phone yet hit the 2.0 barrier on a dual core!
what are the steps you use on your kernel. I know the stock goes from 1.18 straight to 1.5. did you change that so it atleast has 1.2,1.3 and 1.4? it also goes from 192 straight to 384. do you add a 200 in there at all. I think that would help with power savings. especially when it comes to haves a screen off profile. The phone gets a little laggy when you have it set to just 192mhz for screen off. its better when its 192-384mhz. But having a 290 or something in there would help out im sure and save a little bit of juice due to being able to set it to 192-290 or what not.
just wondering. i thought the stock kernel on the phone was a little odd in them regards. it really likes 1.5 and really hates 192mhz.

Well everyone's device handled the OC differently right? Like I was able to get up to 1.83 with no reboots, where some couldn't get above say 1.7 .....it seems as if some of the devices out there had higher capabilitys than others.

It all boils down to voltage, some devices require more voltage than others, some require less. My 3D handles 1.83 all day long, but I had 3D's running at 1.83 LONG before I even had one, remember, I'm on Verizon.

1.94 os max speed if u read it says 1.83 stable
sent from team perfections ics rom
The max speed on any device is always unstable. Actually most of the time the top two or three speeds ar always unstable. It also depends on the device too. My Note and your Note may not be stable at the same speed and the rom has nothing to do with it, its the chip in your phone. I remember I had a Touch Pro 2 once that most people could only over clock to 710MHz but a few of us could overclock to 786MHz. I have my Note running pretty stable at 1836 but I have seen some people complaing about bootloops at that speed so it really depends on your device. Remeber when testing out clock speeds make sure that you never check "Apply At Boot" in case the speed is not stable and only check it when you find a stable speed. Her's a video of someone running stable at 1890MHz

Bah, I stay far away from these "so-called" build.prop tweaks. They do nothing but people keep thinking they work...I guess because they just see commands and numbers and think they must work. All they do is simply lag the phone in some way or another and destroy battery life. After all, placebo is popular in the android world.

Well just hold on there, I can vouche for the enhance image quality tweak.
I still have yet to verify is this actually does anything worthwhile. I just did a clean flash of Neo's AOKP 1.5 and ran quadrant a few times, then Pimped it out and then re-ran Quadrant. The score was higher.... but that was because GPU rendering apparently wasn't enabled the first time Otherwise the scores were just about the same. It sucks that there's no effective/absolute way to test these sorts of thing out.

some of them work. for example I always tweak my call ring delay, and on other phones tweaked the camera with changes to image and video compression, recording frame rate, set wider wifi scan intervals, and have added custom tagging in various places within the os. I am also sure that many other working tweaks exist that I never tried.

Are you on a custom Rom or kernel? I'm still on stock but rooted and am not doing anything special (i.e. not killing any apps before running the benchmark). My score is typically between 19,500 - 20,500. 18,700 is fine though, maybe you have an app that is running on the background slowing things down a bit.

Asphalt 8 will push the phone to its limit. The system may have killed it to prevent damage from overheating and also to save resources. Plus sense roms have lower 3D rendering abilities, so the game will naturally be a bit more unstable and prone to cause heating.

Flash a custom kernel that allows overvolting and overclocking and see if that doesn't help. Change the governor to performance though.
