Hi all.
I'm looking to update my version of xtrSENSE from 4.6.5 to the newest 5.0.1 version. My issue is that I have enabled apps2sd on my current version, and have far more apps installed than available stock app memory on the phone. Titanium Backup is up to date, as is a complete Nandroid+ext backup. The install instructions for the rom suggest wiping factory/data reset, dalvik cache, and ext partition. So my question is, will wiping the ext partition on my sd card cause me to lose all my apps/data? What sort of order should I follow in terms of booting, wiping, restoring, etc.
Thanks for any help in advance.
There is no reason to wipe if you are installing over another version of xtrSENSE.

If you pay for Titanium Backup, use the Batch option to backup all your User Apps and Data, but NOT System Data.
From recovery, wipe Factory/Data/Dalvik and flash the new xtrSENSE.
Set up the ROM with at least the basics including running the Apps2SD Gscript and so on. Reboot if necessary (don't recall if it is needed for Apps2SD but can't hurt).
Install Titanium Backup and Batch restore User Apps and Data.
Reboot again if necessary and should be 'voila!

I saw that, but I know the instructions have also said that it's always best to wipe for best results. The fact that I'm skipping a version also makes me weary of not wiping. I suppose I could try and always restore the nandroid...
Still, if I were to go about it the OCD way.. My apps are still intact in the Titanium Backup, correct? Just wipe factory/dalvik/ext, flash the new rom, set up my partition and apps2sd, then restore them all via TiB?

Yes, but I would still recommend (since you have a Nandroid and a TiBu backup) to just flash over. If it's messed up, you can just go back and do a full wipe instead.
I've flashed xtrSENSE over stock and it worked just fine.
Definitely do a nandroid before whatever you try. Easiest way to get back. Otherwise, yes at least if you use Titanium Backup to backup your apps and data if you want it...
Currently, I'm using CM 7.2 RC2.
I'm willing to try Lasan's MIUI ROM.
But, what if I decide to come back to CM 7.2 and don't want to reconfigure everything?
I know that I must create a backup before wiping current data.
How do I restore? Does the backup file contain the whole system and old cache?
Should I firstly flash the ROM and then the backup file?
Or should I flash the backup file directly?

CWM backup includes the whole /system, /data, /cache, dalvik-cache and android-secure folders. All settings are saved in /data, so no reconfiguration is needed after restoring.
First make backup and then install the ROM, else you will back up your new ROM, losing all your data.
I downloaded miui 2.11.2 and it's on ics. I was wondering if I have to flash this with full wipe cause I don't want to lose my data and stuff.
You'd probably have to wipe. Do a full rom backup in CWM and flash MIUI without wipe. If that doesn't work, restore rom and backup using titanium backup or some other backup app, then wipe and flash MIUI, and install apps and restore data.
Probably best if you download the apps yourself then use backup app to restore data only.
Hi
I'm trying to get a walkman mod working on my phone, and theres some widgets and other stuff I have to install too.
I've tried many times and not everything was working, but after all the walkman works great now.
In this process I had made a nandroid backup to be sure to get back to a stable system if anything went wrong during installing the app's.
Now. My question is. Do i have to wipe cache, partion, and clear system and all the other wiping things in CWM, before I restore a backup?
When the backup is restoring in CWM, does it delete all the parts from my system folder?
Phone: Xperia Mini st15i
Cyanogenmod 9.1.0
The recovery should wipe it automatically before u restore.
You don't have to wipe anything, it will work
Hello everyone,
I am the guy who try installing new custom ROM on the phone, so I would like to ask you guys can we take the backup of the whole phone along with the ROM installed so if I installed new ROM & I didn't like it I can restore the backup again without installing it again.
So let me know.
Thanks
Rahul Jain
In TWRP you can go to backup, and select System, Data, Cache and Boot. I recommend doing the backup on your sd card, as the Data is usually huge. Then if you don't like the ROM, you can just restore from that backup.
