Warning!!!! Dx2 users - Motorola Droid X2

Screw it, I don't want people twisting my words...

Thanks for posting that in such large lettering. Very hard-of-seeing friendly.
And I don't know what you're talking about? We already have a very working bootstrap.

failed to be first! lol.

Um, are you referring to this? If so, by now I think several people have used this with luck...

I just don't understand why koush just wont release one for us x2 users. It would be nice to have one that work on the go instead of being plug in to be able to use it

You are becoming increasingly annoying and irrelevant on these forums. Obviously your still butthurt off your bootstrap fail. First in the world? So the chinese developers are on a different planet?

If you haven't been following him on Twitter or Facebook or Google+, Koush has been a little busy, trying to get some money for his hard work. He's been developing an app called DeskSMS that forwards and replies to txt messages with either GTalk or Gmail. There's a web interface and it's pretty sweet. Check out his Google+ page Koushik Dutta or the free beta app in the market. The public beta is apparently ending very soon, so try while you can.

eric,
i never saw your posts before you changed them. doesn't matter.
if you completed an alternate bootstrap or recovery for the x2, then release it. there's no harm in having more than one recovery. on the contrary, the user community will benefit. choice, it's a good thing.

The thing is i'm not a dev i was a tester, the dev kinda dropped out, but the chinese cwr was a temporary solution, not a daily driver, thats why i was looking at the atrix method ( for the second time), we need something more stable, we need koush's magic, but there is no way of getting koush, ya know

Mistawolfe. You talk about someone being annoying, you come into threads trying to start something everytime you reply. That's annoying. And you don't even really know what you're talking about most The time. Do us all a favor and quit being a wap.

Koush probably will support, but he won't do out on his own.
We will most likely need a dev to work with Koush to get it to work.

Please close this thread. #Fail

Hey magneticzero- If you aren't going to add anything to the thread don't bother posting.
Nobody really gives a S**T what the hell you think is a worthy topic or not.
What is SBF?
Sent with XDA app
System Boot File??? I've heard a thousand things that it supposedly stands for.
But SBF is a commonly used term for a copy of the factory/stock image that your phone comes with from the factory. If you brick your phone flashing roms, themeing, etc.. You could use the SBF to recover from whatever mistake you made.
Thanks much. I had to use a factory restore file on my Galaxy Tab before it would accept the Froyo update because I had deleted some bloatware. Never heard it called an SBF.
How is any of this new news? You just repeat yourself or what has already been said in other threads.
Magneticzero-

Yeah, I went ahead and put that guy on ignore right away. I mean, sure, I was aware of all the stuff announced by the OP, but it was nice to see all of these developments in a single place just to start up a conversation.

I had liberty on the Droid 2/X and I absolutely loved it. I really hope to see it ported to the X2 soon.
As far as themes go, I really hope to see Juicemane port his Gingercomb Juiced theme over from the Droid 2/X Liberty ROM

i had the same question like 15 minutes ago when i saw his twitter post about TBH. It is apparantly and app made by a group of phone hackers to distribute leaked files, they charge for the app because, according to a forum post by P3, it does cost money to get sbf files leaked. Im not 100% certain all the features of the app because i dont own it, if you google 'p3droid tbh' you can probably learn more about it.

I am curious to know what is so different about his update script that allows it to install root. From my understanding you have to have the su app in /system/bin, perhaps it's just an added line of script that installs it during the update. Either way I wish he would go ahead and release the links instead of dangling this in front of everyone.

I have the TOT file to flash the LG Esteem and i believe that can help people develop. if they start to, this is a back up to flash the phone to original software. One people know that, they can start to develop CWM and know that they have a backup they can develop. All needed at first is CWM and then everything should be easily ported. You don't know your community until its out there for people to see what everyone has to offer.

The phone has been out for a little while... and there hasn't even been a slight hint at a ROM every so often someone says this will.be ported or they think this will happen a bunch of ifs so when something actually happens then they will open up a forum I'm sure but until then a forum with a bunch of nothing in it will just be a waste and having a bunch of traffic on a useless forum will be a bunch of money wasted for xda but if something happens then great I'm not trying to bash you or anything I'm just saying a empty wallet is nothing but wasted space in a pocket even if your waiting for money to come
Sent from my LG-MS910 using Tapatalk
I understand but the Revolution ROMS should not be hard to port over to the Esteem. All i am saying is if there is anyone to port CWM to the Esteem than your good. We have a file for you to flash back and start over if a mistake is made. So we can post that guide in there and see what people can do. It's just to see what the community has, heck there might be some devs that own the esteem. Just trying to get it jump started
Too right... I would love to see a jump in progress and I would be dumb to say otherwise so maybe a closely watched section so it won't be full of complaining people and silly questions like how to root my esteem I've seen that question a lot already when you can just as easily Google that lol so I'm with jackpot we should have a progress session... maybe a thread should be started with esteem owners saying +1 to show xda the esteem community is large enough (just a suggestion)
I started one and they closed it so I give up

If it helps encourage a section on XDA, there is already a custom recovery for the Esteem. (Two truth be told, one is CWM and the other is RZR) and we have an overclock kernel with a max of 1.7ghz. If you want to check it out, go to phandroid forums and look for LG Esteem then All Things Root.
Also have mtmichaelson from Revolution forums from here helping out.

Fixed.
Anyone can ask around if they're new to the forum and if Dragon's CM9 work is news to them. Just do not bug the developer.
Jay, long story short, Dragon is incredibly busy with his life. He's currently in some kind of Aerospace Engineering program at a university. That translated to little free time. Therefore, we really have no clue when its coming.
Take comfort in the fact it is being worked on and you will get it one day.
Rule #1 from Cm is to never ask for a eta!
I wasn't asking for a beta, I was just curious of when it would be released. But thanks for the replies.

They were answering your question. ETA as in Estimated Time of Arrival. So, when it would be released.
And yes, people (myself included) get a little jumpy when we see posts like this, but it's only because we don't want it to appear like we are impatiently hassling the devs. We have amazing devs on the X2. They are busy with personal lives (I mean, really, aren't we all?) and have stated that once they have an opportunity they will be back to working on finishing new roms for us. I'm glad you're excited and anticipating a new rom, as we all are cause we know we have badass devs...

Yup, last he said anything about CM9 was that he went back to CM7 for stability and that he was waiting on Cyanogen to release CM7 RC1 so he could incorporate it into his CM7 code. He also had a small bug to fix. Hopefully the SU issue?
In any case, I'm on Eclipse 2.1 and running great and stable. I was having performance issues, but I found out it was due to Widget Locker. Too bad. I really liked it, but it definitely was causing my phone to slow down after a while and would require a reboot.
my bad went back and looked at the tweet what he said was he was going to leave cm9 alone for now and go back to cm7 for stability

[Q] Moving to AOKP

How do I get to AOKP without loosing my apps and their data safely?

Also I guess my next question is with AOKP updates. How do I apply those without wiping cache/data and all that every time like on my Droid?

all I ever do when trying a new rom, is back up with Titanium Back up and also with Clockwork.
I install the new rom and see if its working fine. Then reinstall my apps and I am good. If all else fails, i restore to a back up on Clockwork

You are still having an issue understanding this.
You have no rights on this message board. This board is not in any way run by a government body and as such does not have to respect your rights.
If you want to test my assertion I suggest you try breaking a few of the rules and see what happens.
If you wish to go somewhere with no censoring may I suggest 4chan?
Congrats on finding what you were looking for.

All of what you said is the reality but it doesn't make it right either. This is why my involvement here is limited. There are certainly other places to have community, a little more "free speech", and get Roms.

Of course I am ok with it. Those are the rules I agreed to. Do I think the mods are fair? It depends on the situation.
But simply put this is not a public board. It is a private board that the public at large may view and join as they wish. Grow up.

I agree. It's just so bad for business, when you kick one of the most popular and one of the few devs for this device. I'm refreshing the competitors website more now then xda because my dev isn't here. I'm sure i'm not the only one.

Since NVflash is coming, we will see a huge boost in development.

It's this way on tons of forums out there. Someone becomes an admin, they think they rule the world and then it gets to their heads. Find a welcoming forum, and stick with it!
If you want to ban me for saying that. Go for it, I won't be stopping by here too often anymore anyways, just like many others. Just solidifies my views and quite honestly makes the XDA community look bad.
However I did find what I was looking for at a different site and the users there were very helpful and I was able to successfully get to AOKP, and they even helped me troubleshoot some other issues with CWM.
So I am sorry XDA, I've loved you for a long time, but there are much more welcoming places out there for Android Development.
And thank you for the users that did actually try to help me get to AOKP on XDA.
