What Mobile Phone did you came from? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I came from the HTC HD2, and out of curiosity I like to know from what mobile phones did the other users whit a Samsung Galaxy S2 come from.

I came from a long line of Nokia's, my last one being an N97. The only thing I miss from it is the built in FM transmitter.

openmoko->galaxy 3 (to see how difficult that whole flashing-business might be)->galaxy II

from the first galaxy s...hyge improvement i have to say..

My previous phone was Samsung Omnia (did like it very much)

Huawei IDEOS X5 (U8800)

Nokia E51.

iPhone 3G -> Galaxy 5 -> Galaxy Ace -> Galaxy S II

Nokia 5030 -----> GEE PEE -----> Samsung Galaxy S 2

SE Xperia X1 --> HTC Touch Pro2 --> HTC HD2 --> HTC Desire 1 --> HTC Desire HD --> HTC Desire Z

..from Desire hd....
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App

I came form HTC Desire as it was broken and my contract was coming to an end.

Mine
Compaq Aero - iPaq 3630 - iPaq 5550 - HTC Universal - SPV c500 - SPV e650 - HTC Touch Pro - HD2 (WinMo) - HD2 (Android) - SGS2
Whats next?

Was using a Nokia Communicator 9300i (a smaller variant of Nokia Communicator 9500). One of the first Wifi phones!

Xperia X1 -> HTC Desire -> HTC Desire S -> SGSII

Nokias -> SE K750i -> Nokia 6288 -> Nokia 5800XM -> Galaxy SII
The SE K750i was a total piece of crap, spend most of its time in the shop being repaired. This device totally convinced me to never ever again buy a device from them.

MirrorLink for Alpine head unit

I guess i should have added some info. MirrorLink on HTC One on the Alpine X7HD. Works on Sammy devices not the HTC One. Does anyone have an idea?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Mirrorlink is a physical hardware feature and is only supported on some devices. Galaxy S3/S4 Xperia Z/Z1/Z1C to name a few.
HTC One does not support Mirrorlink.

hm?
My best guess is that you'll see developers work on it, but I would be really surprised if Motorola releases an official update. Motorola promised Jelly Bean for that line of phones, and it delivered on that promise. From what I've seen, one goal of Kit Kat is to bring enhanced Google apps to phones with less capacity or ones with intrusive overlays. Google may try to get 4.4 out to older phones, or they may simply make the new integrated apps available for download from the Play Store.
As the RAZR is evidence of, taking a phone built for Gingerbread and modding it to work with Jelly Bean came with a lot of challenges and is still not quite up to the performance of the newer models.

Based on this it does seem unlikely that the razr will get any more official updates....which is too bad because my RAZR maxx runs great still and I really have no reason to update... besides maybe LTE....

Looking for a new phone, but Which ?

Hi,
I ve broken my xperia mini pro , and i want to buy a new phone .
I want a small phone and powerfull ( more than my sk17i )
I don t know which phone buy, i m lost.
I thinking about xperia go but he has a poor sreen definition and i don t want to buy a new sony phone. I prefere HTC .
If you have some suggestion ?
Thanks for your help, and sorry for my english
Desire X, but you will have a good chance to get a sound problem (if you look out for the x you will find out...)
Besides this it has less than 1GB of RAM and no compass.
Best small one you can get from HTC afaik.
Xperia M or s3 mini are the other choices. Well, the s3 has a weird CPU (bad if you want ROMs) and the M is so fresh... no ROMs for now.
And by mentioning the M we are talking about iphone 5 dimensions and call that small!
If you are not locked in with Android qn iPhone 4s or a Lumia 620 is the way to go...
Can someone please proof me wrong?! I want to upgrade my Android device of choice too... my ray.
Thanks,
I ve see these phone :
Motorola DEFY+
HTC Desire 500
HTC Desire X ( but no sell anymore )

No. This is a chinese generic phone which 7/10 don't get updates, never get rooted and etc. I recommend you buy a name branded phone such as a Samsung, HTC, Mytouch, Google Nexus, LG, or Motorola.
To stay in the price range of $200, I recommend:
Samsung Galaxy SII
Nexus 4
Moto X
HTC One S
HTC One X
HTC Desire HD
Samsung Galaxy S III
Samsung Epic 4G Touch
Nexus 7 2
Nexus 7
Theres a long list of even more, go to your providers website or use Ebay

This one will root your G610 for sure and can be unrooted easily with easy steps.

Phone-tips, anyone? :)

My !"/!&"!= Samsung S4 died on me yesterday. Or, at least the screen did.. Honestly I've been NOTHING but angry with the phone since I buyed it in january. 4G/LTE has never worked (only 3G), ****ty wifi-signal and now the screen that died from nothing at all.. And it kept asking me for it's SIM card.
Anywho, before I baught the ()!"/!)"?!" samsung I had a HTC Desire HD which I actually loved. Yes, it was old in the end; but with the help of custom ROMS and this forum it worked perfectly until I lost it after 4 years.
I _need_ to buy a phone that can be rooted without toooo much trouble (damn Samsung's KNOX too!) and that is well developed for in here.
I'm thinking about these models as for now and is still looking for other options
LG G3 (a tiny bit expensive still)
LG G2
HTC One M7 (M8 is way to expensive for me still, so I'm thinking about the old one)
HTC One M8 (if I by some miraculous way won alot of money... It's sooo sexy!)
Huawei Ascend P7 (not that developed for here on XDA)
Xperia Z2 (a bit expensive)
Sony Xperia Z3 Compact
Xperia Z1 (Well developed for..)
Huawei Ascend Mate7 (No custom ROMS yet and so on.. But it seems possible to root, and the UI Huawei ships it with has inbuilt themeing. I'm addicted to pretty phones. Anyone know price-tag of this? It varies SO MUCH online in Norway as far as I can see)
LG/Google Nexus 5 (only 16GB internal memory and no free slot for more.. But will I care?)
Xiaomi Mi 4 (Not that developed for... Yet? Hard to get ahold of when you need the international version?)
Sony Xperia Z Ultra (It's soooo huge, isn't it? I had a S4, and it was HUGE in my small girl-hands.)
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (Still a bit expensive, and then there's the KNOX...)
