Hi,i recently flashed cyanogenmod to my XMP,but it is rather unstable,so i would like to return to stock ICS 4.0.4
I tried using flashtool to flash the stock rom but when it asks me to unplug the device, turn it off,and plug it in flashmode,i do it and it doesn't respond. The green light on the device turns on,but flashtool behaves like i didn't plug the divice.
Any help?
Forgot to mention, stupid that i am,i never did a backup before installing cyanogenmod.

Have you got flashtool drivers installed? (flashtool installation folder > drivers)
So the green led comes up while you hold volume down and plug to pc without pressing power on just holding volume down and connect?
But flashtool doesn't recognize?
Can you flash a kernel? Does flashtool detect your device in fastboot mode?
Do you use the latest flashtool version?

After installing 0.9.6 install the drivers for all devices again, restart pc and try it again. If your phone connects in flashmode normally it should be a problem of flashtool, cause the phone enters flashmode correctly then. Be sure pc companion or sony update service aren't running in background!
still the same.
so, the problem would be that flashtool does not recognize my device, even though i have all drivers installed.
i guess i'll have to stick around with cm9 for now.
Use pcc

pcc won't work, i have cyanogenmod with unlocked bootloader.
Check you have usb debugging and marked unknown resources. Other than that try to install the flashtool again. Download the drivers again from the web.

maybe try back to Gingerbread..... on my active fastboot is volume up....and blue led. volume down is download mode and green led....maybe here is problem
Its simple...
1. Flashtool Method...if its not working then proceed to 2
2. Flash another kernel like MESA v1.8 http://www.dropbox.com/sh/w6v6t0a72eh3n3k/I61LnlJJK7/sk17i_mini_pro
3. WIPE DATE/WIPE CACHE/FACTORY RESET/DALVIK CACHE(Whatever)
4. Flash a rom like Smultronic v3.5(ITS STOCK BASED ROM) by entering in recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1796272
5. Its a very good rom...but if you still not satisfied then now try the flashtool procedure...

Many times it has happened with me also...flashtool doesnt recognize my XM so what i do is...
1. Select file to be flashed in flashtool in Flash Mode
2. Select everything..wipe data...wipe system...etc and den press the OK
3. Its says"Connect Device by...."
4. Power oFF the phone...
5. Connect the USB side to Pc...and before connecting the microUSB to phone hold the Volume down button and do not leave it till the flashing starts....
Try this and report back...

Hello guys, i need help ..
I wanted flash this custom ROM on my LwW, so I rooted device, installed CWM, unlocked bootloader, wiped data/cache/dalvik and flash it. But now is phone lagged on boot screen (Ĺ ONY logo) ... i cant go to CWM, when i want restore via SUS, it says: The phone contains modified software that cannot be updated; and flashtool lags in flash process in text - Reading device information.
Can I do anything? Please help. :crying: thanks
Flashtool should work. Make sure you install the flashtool drivers properly, then,
1. open flashtool
2. Shut down your mobile
3. Connect data cable only to the computer.
4. press and hold only the volume DOWN button in your device and plug in the cable to the phone and the notification led should light up green indicating that the phone is into flash mode then it should be recognized by flashtool.
(make sure the flashtool drivers are properly installed and the USB port you are using in your computer is high speed USB port)

Which kernel you are using ?
did you wiped everything before installing custom rom ?? (data, system, cache, dalvik cache)
Hi guys,
I'm not an Android expert, but AFAIK is a Linux system.
I'm quite familiar with Unix/Linux world and wondering if there's a way to see the messages during boot just like on a console?
I'm asking, beacause my ray hangs at sony-ericsson logo, and can't figure out what's wrong with it.
Thank you!
to solve problem .. flash your stock .ftf again with flashtool
Well u can use adb for that...use adb logcat...search in xda if u don't know how to use adb...it will give u a complete log as u need
Cheers,
AJ

tried to flash stock gb .42 ftf, but still the same, and cwm is gone now, since custom kernel was overwritten by stock one.
regarding adb, all the adb tutorials mentiones to use usb debug mode, but how can I activate debuge mode, once my phone doesn't boot?
thanks.

i think usb debug will not work anyway if ur phone powered off
try to flash custom kernel again , then u will have CWM , then remove your SD Card and put it in reader , then put any ROM in it , then put it again in ur phone , then flash it with CWM , i made that before with CM ROM & it worked :good:
I tried to flash cutom rom with cwm before flashing stock, but didn't work .
The phone is not powered off when flashing, it's either in fastboot or in flash mode.

Do you know why it's not booting? Did you flash a new rom, did you install a special app, did you do an update over the air (using WiFi)? Or any other idea?

I flashed a custom rom.
Actually, i was on ICS, and wanted to try custom GB illuminative.
Flashed the v10, everything was fine, but Ant+ wasn't working, and dev of the rom was helping me to get ant+ working on the device, so he added things to rom required for ant. I did flash some times the rom without issues, but the last was unlucky .
By that time, my BL was locked, so I had to root my phone to install cwm.
Interestingly the cwm was gone after each rom flash, not sure why, so I had to take the process over and flashed GB .42, rooted with doomlord, script, installed x-parts, then cwm from x-parts, and then flash custom rom from cwm.
basically these were the steps I was doing, and after a cwm flash of the custom rom, the phone ended hanging at sony logo.
I then tried different kind of stock firmwars ( ICS, GB ) to flash with flashtool and SEUS as well, without any luck.
afterwards, I unlocked my BL, flashed cusotm kernel with flashtool ( containing cwm ) , then flash a version of the illuminative custom rom which was working before, but still the sam. somebody then advised to flash again a stock ftf, I did a stock GB .42, but still the same.
now, cwm is gone, as stock kernel overwrote the custom one.
That's the story .
As i remember i can enable usb debug even phone not boot to system. By charging phone with pc(not standard charger) then hold power button and at windows(or else) will ask for driver
Ps. I did that with X8, didn't know with 2011's phone.

Hmm okay you could try to flash the unbricking ftf (you can find it in someguyfromhell's sticked thread) and afterwards stock gingerbread or ics again, but I don't know if that could work or maybe make it even worse (normally it's to unbrick if you did an ota update on unlocked bootloader, but let's see). Maybe it's worth a try
The problem about cwm that's gone: if you are still able to boot into fastboot mode, you can flash another kernel and for example try to install cyanogenmod or any other rom. Just try cm10 or cm10.1. Maybe in the end a rom will boot

tried, and still the same.
The only reason I can think of is that I may forgot once to enable usb debugging, and used flashtool with usb debugging off. could that lead to this kind of issues?
How could I enable usb debugging, without being able to start the phone OS?
tried eswawan's advise, but didn't work.
PS. when I connect the phone in flash mode, flashtool says phone connected with USB debugging off.
Is you connect phone(off) to pc then it goes to offline charging mode???

No, USB debugging off shouldn't lead to such a problem
Try to reinstall all drivers for all devices/modes from flashtool-> drivers. Then you turn the phone off, take off battery, wait 15 seconds, reinsert battery, hold volume up and while holding volume up just connect the phone via usb to your pc. The blue notification led should light up now and then you should be able to flash another kernel. Try it again

With the procedure I posted above it shouldn't simply boot to offline charging mode, so maybe it is a driver problem. Try it step by step like posted above, maybe it could work. If not it was worth a try

what does it mean if it goes to offline charging mode, also what does it mean if it doesn't go?
PS. not sure if it's right, but when I connect the phone to pc, connects in flash mode, even if I don't hold vol down, the notification led is solid green, then the led turns off, Sony Ericsson appears, then the battery with the power sign and finally notification led turns orange. when I short press power button now, the battery with power sign shows up on screen.

Normally while having phone switched off and just holding volume up and connecting to pc the blue led should light up and you are in fastboot mode. If it goes directly into offline charging mode are the wrong drivers installed or you do something wrong or phone is hardbricked...

Umm...as much as I cud understand....u have used sus before flashtool with unlocked bootloader which MIGHT cause the problem...Try these steps(@mihahn though mentioned earlier) -
1. Uninstall flashtool and delete everything related to it.
2. Now reinstall it to your c: drive.
3. Go to C:/Flashtool/Drivers and install flashtool-drivers.exe with all the drivers.
4. Now download this http://www.multiupload.com/Q103V01CV1 and keep it in C:/Flashtool/firmwares(delete everything present in it already)
5. Now start flashtool.
6. Remove battery from your phone and keep the battery out for 15 sec.
7. Reinsert the battery hold down vol-down button and connect your phone to usb cable connected to pc.
8. Now click on the flash icon and select flashmode and flash the files.
9. Now download this - http://www.mediafire.com/?2j7i7rruqxnui3q
10. Now keep it in firmware folder. REMEMBER to delete any previous files prent in the folder.
11. Now go to flashmode in the same manner and flash it.
12. Now boot your phone, it must start

Sorry, I think I wasn't clear enough. I thought I should be connecting the phone without holding any of the volume buttons, just to try if it's charging in offline mode. Here's the exact status.
1. If I do not hold any volume buttons, the phone goes into flash mode ( solid green led ), and after a short while ( 20-30 sec ) led turns off, Sony Ericsson logo shows up, then goes away and battery with power sign is displayed when I short press the power button
2. if I hold vol down, phone behaves the same way as at 1.
3. if I hold vol up, phone goes in fastboot mode ( solid blue led ) and stay solid blue, it is not going into charging mode.

I may not be clear enough here either. I didn't use sus after unlocking BL, I know it bricks he phone, anyway, I did flash the unbrick ftf mentioned by mihahn. here are the steps I did so far :
1. I was on ICS ( Iced Bean 3.4 ) , with BL lockedand phone rooted and wanted to try custom GB illuminative.
2. I flashed the rom with cwm, and everything was fine, but Ant+ wasn't working, and dev of the rom was helping me to get ant+ working on the device, so he added things to rom required for ant. I did flash the rom several times, without issues, but the last was unlucky .

7. somebody then advised to flash again a stock ftf, I did a stock GB .42, but still the same, now, cwm is gone, as stock kernel overwrote the custom one.
8. tried to flash someguyfromhell's unbrick ftf, which is for the FOTA brick whith BL unlocked, as I understood.
9. reflashed stock GB .42 with flashtool, but phone still hangs at sony Ericsson logo.
In this status, could I connect to the phone using adb, so I could do a adb logcat ?
If so, please advise how.
Thanks.
@nroberto13 Do you mind telling us which ftfs u flashed?

I flashed the wrong rom on my Xperia Z2, I tried fixing it by flashing tft file, but I couldn't even get the device into flashmode (Power + Vol up), It just never vibrates, when I put it in the charger it just keeps blinking red.
What's the proper fix for this? and is this a soft-brick or hard-brick? Please help.

Flashmode is not Power button + Volume up. But...
Connect USB to ur computer
Then Hold the Volume Down key on your phone while u connect the USB Cable to the phone.
If you successfully get to flashmode, then u can flash an FTF file for ur phone. (This will also wipe internal sd files if you don't untick 'data' under wipes) Then again, phone might not boot properly if you don't wipe as u said something about custom ROM.
OR Follow these steps I found on Sony website
1. Download the PC Companion software from http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/
and install it on your PC.
2. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
3. Phone Software Update.
4. Start.
5. Repair Phone
6. Continue
7. Accept data removal
8. Next
9. Wait for prepare
10. Select Phone
11. Follow the connection steps
Tried using flashtool with Vol down buut
18/058/2014 23:58:26 - ERROR - Drivers need to be installed for connected device.
18/058/2014 23:58:26 - ERROR - You can find them in the drivers folder of Flashtool.
I'm sure that I have the drivers installed as I tried earlier today to unlock the bootloader through flashtool (which didn't really work out) and it recognized the device just fine.
right now it doesn't even show the Sony logo..I'll try PC Companion method in seconds..
EditC Companion is asking me to make sure that the battery level is above %80, when I was flashing the new rom, the battery level was around %50, should I care about this, or is it just an extra precaution? because I don't really see a way for me to know the battery level.

I'm sure 50% is enough to install through PC Companion unless ur battery is bad.
And do you by anymeans use windows 8? If you do, Did you disable driver signature while installing Flashmode, Fastboot and Z2 drivers from the C:\Flashtool\drivers folder, or where ever u installed flashtool to.
I believe I didn't disable driver signature, I connected the device to a different usb port too just to be sure, my OS is windows 8.1.
PC Companion is updating the phone right now, I'll see how it turns out and report back to you, thanks.
Edit:It worked, my phone is alive, thank you, stanley <3
