Or if you don't like the OP you can use the link in my sig. JK OP...don't take it seriously. The good thing about Sugarsync is you can get up to an extra 10GB. I think I am up to a total of 11GB right now, which is real cool for keeping files synced between my laptop, Asus Transformer and Evo 3D. The bad thing about it is they don't have native Linux support, but a third party is building a Linux client. It is in Alpha stage now and you can get more info here: http://mwillis.co.uk/projects/sugarsync-linux-client/
I've been trying this for a while but can't decide which I like better.
I have carbonite already for full backup.
I've used dropbox forever and my wife actually likes it because it a folder in the my documents folder so she can just go in and out of there for shared files.
If I wanted to use sugarsync for full backup, it would cost alot more than carbonite so I'm just not sure if its worth the switch unless there are other features I'm missing.

I'm thinking so too. It's a nice setup but I think the size is the issue for me.
I'll keep playing with it though...I like the idea of putting sync and backup together but just not sure if it fits my particular needs. Nice program...
thanks op, my dropbox just maxxed out...enjoy the extra 500mb.i know i will...just need that native linux client. until then wine will do.
thanks again.
I don't know about sugar sync, haven't used it in a while (year maybe) but I remember it not working well when I tried it. I use dropbox religiously and couldn't live without it. Seems like sugarsync keps crashing on me and not syncing properly. Maybe it's been fixed and I should give it another go. My dropbox is almost full...
Does sugarsync have the option of using revision history? Can you go back a few days and grab an older version of a document you changed?

Please can everyone who has Dropbox or might get Dropbox after reading this whole post then please also vote for a Windows Mobile App for it! I don't get why its always the iPhone which gets all the apps even though it has fewer developers!
Here the link to vote for it: https://www.dropbox.com/votebox/8/windows-mobile-support
And if you want to sign-up here is the link: https://www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTE5Njc5OTk5 YOU WILL GET AN 250MB EXTRA IF YOU USE ME REFERRAL LINK!
What Is Dropbox?
Dropbox is software that syncs your files online and across your computers. Put your files into your Dropbox on one computer, and they'll be instantly available on any of your other computers that you've installed Dropbox on (Windows, Mac, and Linux too!) Because a copy of your files are stored on Dropbox's secure servers, you can also access them from any computer or mobile device using the Dropbox website.
With Dropbox, your files are always in sync.
Let's say you're editing a document at home. As soon as you click 'Save', Dropbox will sync this same file to all your other computers (and now your iPhone!) instantly and automatically. It's as if you saved the document to all of your computers. This gives you the freedom to work on any of your computers and always have the files you need.
Dropbox lets you share files easily.
You can easily share entire folders or photo albums with Dropbox. Simply put the folders you want to share in your Dropbox, and invite people to them. You can also send people links to specific files within your Dropbox. This makes Dropbox perfect for team projects
With Dropbox, online backup is automatic.
Any file you put into your Dropbox folder is automatically backed up to our servers. Even if your computer has a melt-down, your files are safe on Dropbox and can be restored at any time. While our free 2GB account is perfect for backing up your documents, we offer larger accounts (up to 100GB) for backing up your music and video collections.
Dropbox lets you go back in time to undelete or undo changes to files.
Every time you save a file in Dropbox, Dropbox syncs it to our secure servers. Dropbox keeps a history of every change you make so that you can undo any mistakes and even undelete files. By default, we keep 30 days of history for all your files. We also have an unlimited undo option called "Pack-rat".
Dropbox is better.
Dropbox replaces:
Emailing file attachments to yourself and other people
Using USB drives to move files between computers
Renaming files to keep a history of previous versions
Complicated backup software and hardware
And more!

I understand, but if you emailed them, they should be quick in your response, i just emailed them about Symbian and they responded in less than 2 hours. Got to give them props to that. I'm sure however, that they are working on Linux, several other people have emailed them about this situation in the past.
I joined for your sake but will prbably wait until they fix the issues with Android. From what I have read it appears it is a battery hog and files don't sync 100% of the time. But hey, I got you another 500mb....

I have used Sugar Sync for awhile now and find it rather nice. I have not noticed any battery or sync issues on my end. Also, with the Cloud Save extension for Google Chrome it's really easy to get files on your phone if Chrome to Phone is giving you problems. I am somewhat surprised that Google has not jumped on the cloud storage train yet (other than Music Beta).
I like it! I already got another 750mb free by doing their little "getting started" tasks.

Seems nice, I really like being able to sync/download a single folder at once, unlike Dropbox, which is 1 file at a time. The "getting started" stuff never worked for me kept telling me to do it again so I just left it alone
Many of the suggestions I've ran across so far were for local wifi streaming. Im looking to be able to watch something stored on my pc with my N4 away from home via mobile network. I have an unthrottled data plan, so nothing is overkill.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Ok I figured it out, and feel silly that it was under my nose this whole time. I hate when people figure out a problem without sharing the solution so I'll share for anybody with the same question in the future.
1. Download the Plex server (Plex for connected TVs and streaming devices): https://www.plex.tv/downloads
2. Invest $4.99 (well worth it) into the Plex app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.plexapp.android
3. Setup the Plex server on your computer and enable the myPlex server. (see attachment)
Your app should discover your computer as if you're connected on the same network.

I never implied that you weren't going to share it, so my apologies if my wording seemed directed at you. My "not sharing" comment was directed to people that fix a problem they have without sharing a solution after the fact. By all means, I'd love to hear your method!
Other methods I ran across were a bit wonky. Plex offers the ability to change the bitrate of the videos I'm streaming, which was a major plus for me. The five bucks was well worth it. (having a gift card balance left over didn't hurt either.)
Is there a file manager that can reside on the Gear S and perform the usual functions not requiring root?
What are you trying to do? You can always connect the watch to your laptop and move files around using your file manager on your laptop

No, it is a file manager for the Gear S. You access it from the watch and manage files on the watch.
I don't use anything between the watch and the PC. I transfer files from my phone to the watch and can then manage them on the watch (copy/delete/rename etc).

You don't need a rooted phone.
One app enables you to send files to your watch from your phone. The other app lets you manage files on your watch.
No root needed.
I need to be cleared. Is this app worth the cost when the watch is unrooted and cannot affect the system files?

I have no idea what you're talking about.
Root or no root is irrelevant. It makes no difference.
The app costs less than a cup of coffee. Your Gear S and mobile device cost about 600 times the cost of the app.
Read the app descriptions and decide for yourself. Stop talking about not being rooted, it is about as relevant as asking if the app is worth the cost if you use a screen protector.
There are now a few file mangers in the app store(Samsung gear app) paid apps for now

Why is this forum full of idiots? I thought XDA was for techie types, and anyone buying a device like the Gear S would be fairly intelegent. I'm constantly amazed how dumb Gear S owners seem to be.
If most files can not be changed due to lack of root, then that diminishs the usefulness of an lspp. Add a cost and again it may not be worth it.
I give up. You clearly have no idea about files, permissions, root, file managers or much else.

Greetings and salutations my fellow developers. I come to you today with what is a tremendous thorn in my side. I am running a debloated win 10 enterprise with an AMD Ryzen 3 processor with integrated grapics. Looking at my task manager one day I noticed a program named explorer.exe that wasn't really that. I used all the anti-virus Anti-Malware programs I know. Nothing. So then I web searched and found hope. Alas, even the specific problem solving procedures didn't work. Even reinstalling windows, after a few wipes from Gparted did nada. Registry check , Sheila, eset, all nothing. Everytime I launch a program or do a restart, there it is. It's effecting everything. I've even wiped my 5tb external and lost a LOT. Nope, still there. Here's the thing: it shows up in the themes folder Everytime. If I delete that folder, we'll, bad. But I can't count how many times I've scanned my whole PC. Ugh. Please help, I use my computer for music production and I'm very stressed about this. Any thoughts? Thanks again my friends, I trust you all.
How about some linux CD to boot and then scanning it?
https://www.lifewire.com/free-bootable-antivirus-tools-2625785
But I am not up to date which one to use (before I switched to linux I used usually Kaspersky)... Also sysinternal could be helpful in investigating:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/sysinternals-suite
PS: Did you ever scan that particular program/file in virustotal? Perhaps it is supposed to be like that I mean how to do you conclude it's bad?

Cool. I'll give that a try. So Kaspersky has a linux variant?
I have Ubuntu installed in wsl. Not sure if I can somehow align the planets and do it from there.
Well, basically you just burn an ISO onto a CD (thus you can be sure it's unchanged) and then boot it and scan your machine. And (at least back then) Kaspersky came with a nice big list of virus signatures.
Just so I know. What's virus total? And I'm positive it shouldn't be there. Everytime I open an executable, it creates an exact replica of it from whatever folder I launch it in. Only difference is its an exe.tmp. I'll try your advice when I reach home and let you know what I come up with. Humblest thanks..
VT is basically all scanners in one:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VirusTotal
U went with the Kaspersky iso and it took all night but I've finally got my computer back. I thank you kind sir for your time and knowledge.

Whoa, good news! Glad to hear that!
I'd still wonder about the source of your troubles. Have you been able to find any pointers (logfile)? For example, those tools like kaspersky put such nasty files in a special folder (aka quarantine) for further inspection...
Well what I did was completly scan every file one each drive. It seems I downloaded an infected third party theme. Hence, the reason why it chose there to populate. Honestly I've never dealt with viruses so it scared me. I didn't pay attention to that but I have a laptop that it somehow jumped to. Once I do that one I'll attach photos.
Hi, glad you sorted this. After reading your 1st post, I had a thought it might be a win 11 update, that had got blocked somehow and kept duplicating itself.
Thankfully it was just a virus. Win 11 would have caused you far more pain with far more serious damage
