Hi all...
I m posting in thunderbolt forum for the first time. A friend of mine gifted me HTC Thunderbolt but it is carrier locked. Is there anyway to unlock it so it would recognize my sim???
thanks... and sorry if posted in wrong section.

unfortunately, no
Only verizon radios now, and the RIL is proprietary.
There is no way. Though the Thunderbolt has a SIM card, it still can't be used on GSM networks. This is because voice is still over CDMA. The SIM only handles the LTE signal.

Dear All,
May I use of foreign SIM card (Taiwan) in HTC Thunderbolt? How to do that?
Thanks in advance.
Black
I'm pretty sure its for lte services only
I may be wrong but we won't have a answer till its out
Besides it doesn't have the necessary radios for a gsm network

No you can not.
So dejected........
Thank you all....^_^
I'd really like it to be true that LTE phones are automatically global and have been searching for the answer. Sadly that's not the case but there is some hope because the rest of the world will eventually use the LTE tech for their 4g as well. It's not yet known which form of multiplexing they'll use(frequency division or time division) but there's a chance that everyone will use the same in the future so don't lose all hope.
In theory. See my other thread I'm about to post.
According to the training only 4g Lte Verizon cards are compatible. If you have a 4g modem with sim you can use that or another 4g phone but other regions/companies are not compatible out of the box.

Hello, I'm checking out the "bay" to find an used Evo 3d with clean esn.
I found one that it's perfect for me but it's only for Sprint networks (CDMA).
I have tried to check if it's possible to port an Evo 3D CDMA phone to other network with one of many IMEI online unlock services.
Surely you'll know this better than me... so I ask the great Xda-dev community to help me know if this is really possible before I buy the phone.
Thanks in advance for ANY reply and sorry for my bad english.

Only networks other than Sprint are Boost, Cricket, Metro PCS. Dev forum has plenty of information on how to get the phone to work on those networks.
Many thanks. So the only chance I have to get a working evo 3d in italy I've to buy a GSM one...

Wasn't there a suggestion that you could remove the wimax part, solder in a sim card sold, and then flash gsm software?
Personally.. I'd just sell the evo 3d and get another phone.
There is a way to get it on Verizon from I have heard. There was some members that had it on Verizon.

I'm new to Android.. coming from iPhone and WP7/8.
I love the HTC one and paid cash for this phone. I hate being controlled by the carrier when it comes to updates.... I know now.. that next time I will buy a unlocked/developer version if available.
My question is this. Being that it is an AT&T version, can i unlock the boot loader (assuming they haven't stopped this yet) and enable receiving my software updates directly from HTC? Just like the Dev phones.
I'm not so interested in "rooting" and loading custom Rom's at this point.. i just want to make sure i get the updates ASAP.. I don't want to wait on AT&T. (I wouldn't mind deleting some of the AT&T crap off the phone though)
I have searched Google and this forum and can not find an answer that is in such simple terms that i understand it lol ... sorry if this is a stupid question.
No.

Why would you buy an att device to use on tmo anyways?

You can unlock the bootloader, you'll need the carrier's help to SIM unlock. Check out the tutorial in the development section.
Unlocking your bootloader has nothing to do with when your phone gets updated.

Also, I don't believe that T-Mobile 4G HSPA or 4G LTE will work on the AT&T version. (But I wonder if the T-Mobile version of the phone will work on AT&T's network?)
If you want to run on T-Mobile US, you need the T-Mobile US version of the phone.
I'm looking to buy a AT&T and T-Mobile gsm unlocked Sim. Android or IOS how can I tell if the gsm phones are really Unlocked Sim?
Just want to make sure I'm buying a Unlocked AT&T or T-Mobile phone.
Didn't know what forum to post this in, but being as I'm a Evo 4G Lte owner why not here.
Thanks for your help

I'm looking to S-Off my wife's DNA so I need to upgrade from 2.04 to 2.06. But were using her phone on Net10 Gsm (ATT).
So my question is does the 2.06 firmware upgrade lock down or restrict the gsm network options at all?
I know the DNA was the first and only phone to come from Verizon completely gsm unlocked and other phones im thinking the S3 and others came with cellular unlocked but data locked so u couldnt do what we did and run from verizon with their phone. So if 2.06 restricts gsm access were out of a phone and my wife might even kill me .
Cmon somebodys gotta know if they were able to switch their DNA to a gsm network after taking the 2.06 update?
