New Accessories coming - Eee Pad Transformer Accessories

You missed one word in the title: New Accessories NOT coming
ASUS has no intent of releasing accessories that reduce dock sales. This is a fraud and untrue just like everyone else selling vapor on the internet.
If you buy these you are VERY naive, because no one in the WORLD has ever demoed one of these items. Selling these items is a 1st class fraud.
ROFLMFAO.

Well the power adapters are already available so why not other accessories?

No, I am not bitter whatsoever. I refuse to accept the lies.
ASUS is completely unprofessional in their TF101 accessory manufacturing and consumer marketing, except AC adapters & cables. I prefer not to give a list of examples why and waste my time.
Accessories to not fall off the assembly line. There are manufacturing dates, based on a business process, and either availability dates or delays and problems. However, ASUS is acting unprofessional because they provide no availability dates nor mention of delays on the items mentioned by the OP.
It is easy to understand delays and problems since we are dealing with a new OS, e.g. Android v3.x and new host functionality. But, ASUS has no excuse whatsoever to say nothing. Especially since other tablet manufacturers are currently shipping equivalent components on the same Android OS levels.
The fact official ASUS resellers are selling these components without any factual ETA dates is fraud, plain and simple. You do not have to be bitter nor upset to recognize this fact. ASUS makes the choice to be unprofessional, or not.
Again, good luck with your pre-order.

There is zero risk in ordering. If for some reason they don't ship, you will be refunded.

Sorry I do not mean to offend. I agree the tablet works great. My complaint is for selling vapor without dates from ASUS, no matter if it is amazon.de.
I also agree there is no rush (especially with pre-order sales) because I expect, if the USB host and SD accessories are released with the *next* version of the tablet (Tegra 3), they will still work with our version tablets.
The first series of EEE PC had some internal redesigns that significantly effected compatibility of *internal* mini-PCIe components. The *external* TF101 components are a different case. I would be shocked if ASUS modified the design of their 40 pin proprietary cables.
In case no one noticed on amazon.de, the SD accessory has a picture showing it includes a USB host port, same price as USB host accessory.

Still don't understand, why waste money on this when u get a extended battery, keyboard, usb ports all rolled into one...?

Because it may be cheaper for some people who don't have the $150 to spend on a dock, or don't want one.

since ps3 controllers work over BT now...no need for usb connectivity.

Buy 2 USB Connectors (Dock) and one SB your looking about 3 thirds of what the dock cost and no track pad no keyboard no extra battery life no keyboard short cuts...can't use but one at a time....that's one of the best things about a dock...can use them all (at the same time)

Do you have some problem with people wanting other accessories? You like your dock. We get it. I want to watch movies when I'm wrenching in the garage, and the Display Stand takes up less space, and I don't want another $150 worth of fragile equipment sitting near all my power tools. You seem to think I should have to use the keyboard dock, whether I want to use the keyboard and touchpad, or not.
Also, Excalibur is preordering the USB adapters for $15.

Thanks Asus for Standing by your Product

I am extremely disappointed in your company and the poor business practices.
I purchased a transformer prime based of the specs and supposed solid company making the unit. I read many articles about the issues the prime had but made a poor decision believing the delay in reaching retail was to fix the issues with the unit. After purchasing I found that the GPS is almost useless and our way to fix it was to remove the reference to GPS from the product sheet. This was very underhanded and shows a lack of standing behind your product. I have also lost a SD card because the SD slot was poorly implemented and results in them being easily springing out of the unit.
Now I find out that instead of fixing these issues you decide to scrap the Prime within weeks of release and ship a newer unit and leave us early adopters in the cold. On top of that not only are you releasing a fixed and fully functional unit you upgrade their screen resolution again leaving us out in the cold. I realize that there is always something new on the horizon but you clearly
released an untested unit that is a black eye on you company and instead of making it right you sweep it under the carpet and hope the new
launch will make everyone forget about the troubled prime. The pathetic thing is this will work but thousands of early adopters who spent there
money on your product are left in the corner crying that we have a product that was sold to us not fully functional.

Wow, the new features are:
1. Back design change to enhance GPS/Wifi
2. Higher resolution screen
3. 2MP front camera.
This is certainly a bug fix release. How do you sell the current Prime along side the newer one with a $100 different in price for higher res screen and modest increase in MP for front camera? The current prime will be quietly phased out shortly after the release and the price for the new one will drop to the current Prime price. I kind of feel dry fu**** now.

Wow, people are impatient. This whole GPS thing just happened. Why does anyone expect ASUS to have already decided how they're going to handle it?
If we're in the same place at the end of January, beginning of February, then maybe it'll be time to pull out the pitchforks. Until then, hows about we relax a little?

If you buy a 2011 car in July, you know that the 2012's are coming out in the Fall. If you buy a 2012 car in the Fall, you'd assume it'll be "new" until the 2013's come out. How would you feel if they announced a 2012.5 immediately after you purchased? And that the dealer knew and even had the brochures in his desk and didn't show them to you? You may still buy the 2012 but at least you'd have had the option of waiting. Kind of a clunky analogy but it makes the point.
On the plus side Prime owners, all the smug cnuts rubbing our faces in it will get the shaft from Asus in about 6 months so we piss all over them too at that time. And they will have paid more to get screwed over.
The people saying to calm down because new tech comes out often are missing the point. The issue here is that it's pretty clear that the new Prime is coming out to address defects of the current one. It's not a "new" product in the traditional sense.

how are they releasing it before there is stock of the tf201? this thing is slated to be out in q2, and with the delays that surrounded the prime and tf101, it probably won't hit stores before fall.
as to the lack of new hardware,
remember the iphone 3gs, 4s?
the droid 3/4/x2?
a plethora of HTC devices?
many companies offer slightly refreshed versions of hardware as "new" versions, it's nothing new and since they are charging more for the new tablet AND it won't be out before june most likely i don't really see the problem.
if anyone is unhappy with this development, everyone here is still in their return windows, no one is holding a gun to anyones head and forcing them to keep the prime.
now what i do find issue with is them not offering to replace the back cover for prime owners who want the better functioning gps/wifi, but since the dimensions seem to be the same (since the docks are compatible) they still could offer something like that for us.

Exactly. The Asus execs all sat in a room and said, how can we fix our design flaw issue here so it doesn't haunt us all year? Let's fix the back plate design flaw and add a couple of small new things so that it appears to be a new product and slap a new model number on it. Once released, we will quietly phase out the original prime and blame poor sales on the decision. Then we drop the price of the newer prime and all is fixed.
Which is my issue. I understand new tech comes out quickly. I had a Xoom day 1 and in less then a year upgraded it. My issue is that they are being very unethical in how they are handling the design flaws. When did it become acceptable to sell a product that is advertised with certain abilities and then saying later that because you removed it from the spec sheet after launch they are no longer accountable. And when has any company announced an upgrade before the original is truly sitting on shelves.

Agreed. Regardless of whether I decide to keep my Prime or not (I'm leaning towards keeping it, as I want a tablet now and don't see any other suitable alternatives currently available), I will never be buying another product from Asus again. There are plenty of other companies that make similar products. I'll 100% be using them over Asus in the future.
whoopde do. When it comes out in six months i'll sell my prime for $250 or $300 and buy one.
I am not within my window to return it as once you opened the unit many companies will not return them. Best Buy only allows a 14 day window on tablets which is also past for many of us.

This is when a Nexus tablet is needed. We know it will be updated by google and if history holds true it will work properly.

Tempted to wait for the next tablet?

Just wondering what people think of the Padfone?
I might be late to this (most probably am), however i Just saw a few reviews about the padfone and now it looks very tempting to wait for it instead of ordering the Prime tomorrow.
I heard they'll be announcing it properly at the MWC...I guess it'll be 2 months after that, so around the tf700 time.
What do people think? Is it a gimmick that wouldn't get used? or something that could have a lot of potential?

Nice one Asus.
But not tempted, you can always wait for the next best thing. I also wonder if you can utilize this padfone fully without a phone in it.
I have more questions about this thing than I do answers, such as:
1. What carriers will support the phone? If it's not available on Sprint, it's a moot point for me.
2. Does the tablet support a dock? I've seen rumors that it will support the original Transformer dock, but no confirmation. If it doesn't, then it's also moot for me--I wouldn't get a tablet without an integrated keyboard dock.
3. Not to be unkind towards ASUS (I think there's too much of that going around already), but they've struggled making the Prime a reliable and consistent product so far. I wonder if they'll be better at making this thing, given that it's another order of magnitude more complex.

1) It will probably be sold as an unlocked sim card device!
2) it will dock! If you look on one video i watched the had a battery widget that showed phone tablet and dock battery life on it... And you can see the dock connectors on it!
But it's really cool a phone that docks in a tablet that docks in a keyboard! You could probably get like 24 hours of battery for the phone on 4g
3) what's complex about it it uses a micro hdmi to display the image to the tablet and a micro usb to charge the phone and communicate the touch portion of it... It's basically just a glorified touchscreen monitor
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Over the top IMHO, is the tablet just a case and phone screen enlarger, or are they 2 devices who can work together when needed and fully functional when separate?
I praise the courage of the concept, yet I don't feel engaged by it, others may disagree...
Cheers

Not to be overly harsh, a few months ago I'd have asked, "What's so complex about the Prime?" I never would have expected so many build and design issues. Here we have a phone that has to sit inside a tablet and:
1. Have everything fit well, with no issues with tolerance. If some part is a tiny bit off, then the phone doesn't fit, or the cover doesn't close, or a connector abrades against a port and bends/breaks something, etc.
2. The phone sites inside the tablet. Yet, it provides all radio functionality (cell, GPS, wifi, Bluetooth). If the Prime has radio issues, imagine what could happen with this thing. And no, I don't think it's so easy to say, "Well, they just shouldn't use an all-metal back." The whole thing needs to be carefully design to ensure that all radios perform well.
I'm not saying ASUS absolutely can't design and manufacture this thing well, but after the Prime, I do have my doubts. Do note that I've had six Primes so far, and every single one has had a defect significant enough to warrant a replacement. So, maybe I'm a bit jaded.
Everyone always talking about this show or next show worth waiting for. Lol. People said same thing about one that just passed, and basically was a fail. As far as showing anything to beat the prime out. Asus already said it'll be June at the earliest when you will see the TF-700. Once people get that, they will be in for a big surprise. AROUND the same time or afterwards is when the next upgrade to tegra3 chip will be announced, Kal El+, or they might just jump to next one and forget the refresh. Its always about waiting for the next best thing. Of you do then you'll be waiting forever. Lmao
Plus what does this thread have to do with Prime?

yeah..lmfao. I'm just happy a got a great working Prime from 12/22. I use this thing so much its crazy. I used my Ipad the other day, it didn't even feel right anymore. felt bulky n heavy n alot slower than my prime. can't lie, I am interested to see what the competition will bring.
These combo thingies sound cool until somebody actually tries to use one. To wit the Moto Atrix and the stillborn Palm Foleo.
The Panasonic WiGig demo (Engadget blurb) looks much more versatile and practical. No need for proprietary phone & dock. Xmit module in phone + rcv module in laptop/tablet/TV = 60fps fullHD remote access or dumb display.
Nice concept, but I already have a good Android phone (Galaxy Nexus).
Why would I want one?
As for now, I won't go with Prime ... too much issues ... random built quality ... pogo pins will wear out (not tight) sooner or later ... flawed design ...
TF700 would be much better option, but I need to wait a month or two for real review and teardown, learning from Prime debacles ...
Or probably waiting other brand like Samsung upcoming 11.6" , that is interesting.
Yeah, we can wait and wait and wait ... but at this moment, I won't "force" my-self to accept mediocre/dodgy products.
MWC is just less than 1 month anyway ...
And I can still live my life without tablet! Galaxy Nexus serves me well enough

I agree, this is exactly what I think ! Why would we buy an unfinished product ? I can live with no GPS, but not with a bad WIFI reception. It's so stupid to pay 700€ for a MOBILE device which would not allow me to connect to a WIFI router in hotels/restaurants unless I'm sticked to it ...
A lot of people say "The TF700 solved these problems, let's wait for it", but I only partially agree :
- this is said by Asus, but can we still believe them ? I am not confident anymore in the build quality of Asus. We already had problems with the TF101 and other laptops / netbooks made by Asus.
- Even if the TF700 works very well, the high 1080p resolution will let it work slower than the "normal" 1280x800 TF201 resolution. We still need to know if it will be fast enough for everything and everyone (we all want our tablet to be as fast as possible, right ?)
- Asus will not be the only Tegra 3 maker in the next months : every other brands will sell their own Tegra 3 tablets, beginning in April with Acer (A510). And there will be new comers like HTC and Lenovo (the lenovo tab will have a Tegra 3 running at 1.6 GHZ and 2Go of RAM !).
Asus wanted to be the first one to sell a Tegra 3 tablet, but they did it too fast, now we have to use an unfinished product and use tricks like pinching the back cover to let it work as it should (and still, even with this trick it works better but not really as it should)... Is this serious ???
So I will now wait for other brands "Tegra 3" tablets, I'm done with Asus.

Is a TP upgrade/trade-in deal likely?

Is it even likely that Asus will give us an option to trade in (of course not for free) our TP for one of the better redesigned models coming soon?
edit: say, to this one?: http://eee.asus.com/eeepad/transformer-infinity/features/
I'm simply asking because I don't know what large companies do in these kinds of situations.
Don't bet on it.

They do know... the answer is both. On the Infinity tablet if you go wifi only tablet its tegra3 clockspeed 1.6 and if its the 4g LTE its the Qualcomm clock speed 1.5
they way i read it is that the 3g/4g version will use the dualcore, and the wifi only version will use the tegra3.
It really is too bad. The redesigned back on the Infinity looks like it will much improve the signal of both WiFi and GPS...
I highly doubt it. The only reason that they may offer some type of trade-in program would be because of the GPS fiasco with the TF201. However, it has been my understanding that ASUS is going to offer the TF201 along side the Infinity so it wouldn't make much sense to offer a trade-in program if the two models are going to sit on the shelf next to each other. In reality though, I wonder if ASUS is going to quietly push the TF201 to the way-side and slowly kill it off without trying to piss too many of the current owners off, and replace it with the Infinity.
We don't come across "these kinds of situations" very often as it is typically a piss poor business model to release or even announce future versions of tech-toy type gadgets (such as tablets) so close to each other. There is a reason why Apple releases the iPad, iPhone, iPod, etc. the way they do...
1) Announce the new product at some big event (like the one coming up next Wednesday)
2) Release the product within 1-2 months of the announcement
3) Retail pipelines are fully hydrated with the new product within a couple of months after initial release
4) Rinse and repeat a year after the original announcement
By announcing a new product so close to the original product's release date several bad things happen that affect the company's sales. The main issue is that many people will hold off on buying the original product since they know/assume that the release of the new one is near. A second issue is that future sales can be negatively impacted because of lost company loyalty. It can be frustrating for current owners of the product to find out that their shiny new gadget that was just released is going to be 'outdated' before they were expecting it to be.

There may or may not be, but definitely is, no chance that they will do that.
Yeah, I would definitely not count on it. I am sure they will give some excuse involving our throw away society.

Failure rates of less than 1% are successful by anyone's measure in the field of consumer electronics.
Makes me wonder if there is a space some where on the prime board for a 3g chip/mod and if the HD screen will has the same connections as standard.
But no after the launch of the prime there would likely be no chance they would offer us an upgrade. They don't seem to care about us much.
Btw have they actually changed the back on new primes? Does wifi work on new primes now?

So stores chose to turn down the TP because of less than 1% failure rates? Of course, those stores that eventually received any units. The word from my local store's distributor said they couldn't get a word from Asus when the next shipments would arrive. And it's seemingly random which stores get the shipments.
There are still plenty of stores waiting to receive their shipments.

If you look there you can see the top of the backpanel has been changed to accommodate better wireless reception as the GPS and WiFi radio are placed in that region.

well according to them, they consider Prime a success with less than 1% failure/return rate. that's what they said. nothing else to be released to contradict that statement. plus with it still being promoted at MWC outlook looks good for prime owners.
jordache16 said:
That's what eBay is for.
I had pre-ordered my original Transformer, and then my Prime. When the Prime finally came, I checked it out and then put my original Transformer up for sale on eBay. It sold quickly getting what I consider a good price. The guy who bought it is very pleased, and so am I.
That same week I also sold off my touchscreen netbook to a very pleased customer. I do the same with cameras. That way I get to have new toys and there's no high-tech junk in the closet.
Bye.

Personally I like my Prime more than any new redesign models coming out. I've bought 3 primes and none had the BT/WIFI problem(don't care for gps), But one did have a constant rebooting problem.
The redesign models just look cheap.
Less than 1%...really? Where is that number coming from?

I'm interested to see if this concept pans out and people actually pick up on it. Personally I have my doubts that this will catch on. Especially with the price of the thing:
"...dual-core phone is priced at NT$17,990 (US$610), while the tablet set -- including that curious Bluetooth headset / stylus -- will set you back NT$24,980 (around US$850). If you're thinking keyboard add-ons are all the rage, expect to pay around NT$28,901 (US$980)..."
So if the phone itself is $610 and the tablet with keyboard is $980, there is no way this thing will make it. However, their wording around the pricing is a little confusing. Maybe it is $980 for the phone, tablet and dock. But even so, I would never pay that much for this.
I'm really tempted with one of these for the Mrs, both her phone and laptop are at deaths door.
If its sensibly priced for the Phone/Tablet Dock and it uses the TF201 Keyboard I'll probably bite
Its the ultimate set up for an electronics device but damn its expensive..lol. I really like it and would be so cool to own. Priced to high for me though. If the complete set would cost about $600, I'd say its worth it. But almost $1000 is too much. People will still buy it though.
I don't get it... WHY would people pay to get ONE device that just builds into another for the same price as buying 3 separate devices?
When Google finally comes out with its "cheap" Nexus tablet, getting an unlocked GSM Galaxy Nexus + tablet will probably be about $750. You telling me the keyboard dock is worth another $230?

If it's $980 for the phone, dock, stylus/headset, and keyboard dock altogether, then that wouldn't be terribly bad considering:
1. Phones are typically in the $500-$700 range (sometimes more) unsubsidized.
2. That would make it $370 additional for the tablet, the stylus/headset, and the keyboard dock.
3. The Transformer keyboard dock is $150 by itself. So, that makes the stylus/headset and tablet only $220. And THAT wouldn't be bad considering that the tablet includes some of the pricier components of a standalone tablet, such as the battery and the screen.
I also don't think the tablet/stylus/headset/dock combo will be $980 by itself, given that the Transformer Prime 32GB is only $650 and includes a processor, RAM, radios, etc.
If the phone were subsidized to the typical $200, and then the tablet/stylus/headset/dock were an additional $370, it would probably do pretty well as people compared the combo to a phone+tablet alternative.
If it's $610 for the phone and $980 for the other components... Then seriously, ouch. It won't go anywhere.

I guess if you put the price thing aside I think there is a fundamental usability problem with trying to combine the functionality of a phone and a tablet into a single device. And that is, what happens when someone tries to call you and you have the thing docked in the tablet? I am guessing you would have to either yank the think out of the tablet or use the bluetooth headset, which either way is going to be a clumsy and annoying experience (what if the bluetooth headset is not close to you, etc.).
Also, I don't want to constantly have to dock and undock my phone. This would be something that I personally would have to do a minimum of twice a day. In the morning I would leave for work and my phone would be docked in the tablet from the night before, so I would have to undock it to take my phone to work. Then once I get home from work I have to dock the phone in order to use the tablet. This would get old really fast. Currently I come home from work, plop down on the couch and grab my Prime which is right there ready to go. No setup is required.
It'll be cheaper, assuming it makes it to the US and gets carrier subsidy. That's the trick--navigating the carrier negotiations to get it approved, since you can't just pop in a SIM and use it. It may happen (for the US), since it would be a good halo device. Then again, the Moto Atrix didn't quite set any sales record.
The price isn't unreasonable once you account for all the trappings. But it's a sticker shock at first glance, because the iPad's $500 reference price is firmly ensconced in buyers' minds. "First-glance" eval can be make-or-break. It's definitely a niche item, even more than the usual 4G-enabled tablets. One indicator will be whether XDA gets enough requests to make a forum for it. But given the dearth of high-end Android tabs lately, it'll probably get a forum regardless.
I'm leery of its complexity. Asus has a less-than-stellar QC record with its tablets to date, both in hardware and firmware. Of course, prudence isn't exactly an early adopter trait, and kids must have their shiny toys. Prime users will have ample company in extolling their love of Asus products.
I re-watched the PadFone announcement to take stock, and Shih dude always cracks me up. He's the definition of "camp."
I would seriously pick the Padphone if it supported US Tmobile's HSPA+ (4g) 1700/2100 bands.
What is the point of this anyways. Why buy this instead of a separate phone and tablet...

I'm guessing it's $980 for the whole set, although the way it's worded in the article is admittedly a bit confusing. It wouldn't make sense for the padfone station with the keyboard dock to cost that much by itself, considering it's more than a prime with its keyboard dock, and the prime is actually a fully functioning tablet on its own, including on board memory, cpu etc., whereas the padfone station is just a shell for the phone with only some of the on board components of a tablet.
In any case, assuming my previous assumption is correct, $980 isn't that bad, considering the price you would pay for a separate phone and a tablet like the transformer with its keyboard dock. I wonder how much extra for the 32GB and 64GB models, considering that listed price is likely for the base 16GB model.
>$980 isn't that bad
In sales, never let the prospective buyer start talking about the price first. Sizzle always comes first, and price should be hidden away in a safe place until you finish the pitch. Once you got the mark to say "price isn't that bad," you know you've netted another one.
Anyway, as any purveyor of high-end toys would say, if you have to ask about the price, this isn't for you. The niche that this product targets is not price sensitive.

The value would be:
1. All info (photos, video, downloaded files, documents, etc.) stored in one place and accessible in both phone and tablet formats.
2. One cellular plan used with both phone and tablet formats (assuming the carriers go along with it). So, imagine your usual phone and data line, only usable for both a phone and a tablet (without the pain and hassle of tethering).
3. Ability to switch instantly from the phone to the tablet in terms of workflow. Imagine taking notes on the phone and deciding you'd rather take them on the tablet. Rather than saving the note on the phone, switching to a tablet, navigating to and opening the note on the tablet, and finding your place, you just pop the phone in the tablet and keep working. Now imagine the same with the keyboard dock.
4. Instant charger for the phone. Running low on the phone's battery? Toss it into the tablet for a quick recharge. Maybe even while on a call.
I can see some real advantages to such a platform. If it came to Sprint and the phone was nicely subsidized, and $370 for the tablet, stylus/headset, keyboard dock, I'd give it a strong look.

It might not come to the US. When it was announced at WMC I emailed Hai at asus because I wanted to know if they would also sell the handset separately without the tablet because I really like the handset but cant justify spending that much on a 4th tablet (I have the tf 101, 201 and a HTC evo view) he replied with this: I hope it does change because I am fond of the handset
"For the Padfone. I do not think it will be released in North American shores. The market it too saturated over here with cellular devices and our partnerships with USA/CANADA cellular carriers view it the same way. I’ll let you know if this changes."
>I emailed Hai at asus
Since Hai is more forthcoming about Asus info, and is a tech mgr, perhaps you can send him a query about the getting of NVFlash to work alongside the BL unlock. Seems to be a point of complaints around here, and I didn't see much movement in getting the matter to Asus' attention.
---------- Post added at 06:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:51 PM ----------
>One cellular plan used with both phone and tablet formats
From the rumblings, untied data plan is coming to US carriers anyway. From the users' view, it doesn't make sense to pay multiple data plans, now that multiple-device ownership is more common. From the carriers' view, it would be good business, since the tied-plan requirement undoubtedly inhibits sales of other devices. The more devices the user owns = the more bandwidth he's likely to use = the higher capacity plan he's likely to buy.
>Ability to switch instantly from the phone to the tablet in terms of workflow
That's the promise of all these all-in-one (AIO) devices, but the devil is in the details. Historically, most fall short. Asus doesn't have a track record in high-end consumer electronics, and its present record in tablet isn't encouraging. We'll see when the reviews roll in.
Anyway, as graffixnyc mentioned, I don't see this coming to the US. Asus has little presence in the US smartphone market. Carriers tend to be a conservative lot.
I don't see why tethering can't just apart of data plans at no additional charge; i'd willing to give-up my 'unlimited' data, that they throttle anyways, for 5gigs a month. In exchange to be able to use my phone as a wifi spot for my tablet for important needs. Hell, I don't even get close to using 5gigs of data a month anyways.
Most places have a Wifi spot, but it seems that the most ideal places to take advantage of a mobile entertainment/productivity device, are locations that don't offer Wifi. For example, sitting outside for 30min. waiting for the kids to get out of school. Inside a doctors office around complete strangers that no one really wants to socialize with.
That's why this idea of the padfone kind of makes me upset. It's just another way to force consumers into something that should already have been integrated, and can ALREADY be supported by most devices on the market.
In closing, I'm looking forward to what Windows 8 platform has to offer in the next couple of years. Whether or not people want to admit it, Windows is the most widely used O/S in terms of user end. So ALL devices under one platform, given the support from one of the biggest and most successful companies, with a 'little' bit of the freedom linux/android has. Will be really exciting.
For now, I'll enjoy my iPhone4 and ATP! I'll probably trade the i4 for a android once I qualify for an upgrade. I due love the prime, but again, can't use it in some places I'd like to use it most.

Staples is no longer carrying the Transformer Prime in store

Just a heads up:
Staples is no longer carrying the Transformer Prime in store.
If you search on Staples.com it shows them as a low stock clearance item.
Best Buy is also out of stock at almost every store around me. It makes me feel like the Transformer Prime is no more.
I was hoping to get another Transformer Prime if they ever fixed the Bluetooth issue with the Wi-Fi dropout while streaming audio. Did that problem get fixed? The one Best Buy near me has some C30 serial number Primes should I go get one? I would love to have one if the issues were fixed.
Bored...anything else?
In poland Prime is able to buy in all big internet stores and media markt, saturn etc.
Please close this thread. If any store is no longer carrying prime I should make a new thread...lol?

Noticed Ncix is listing fewer editions of the Prime. I think its only a matter of time it becomes a blip in history.
The TF201 not being available is a good thing for customers. I'm surprised there isn't a class action lawsuit for this product already.
Avoid ASUS at all cost. I spent nearly $1,000 on 2 of these crappy tablets. Never again.

I feel like if you can't find a Prime in almost any store because the stores are not carrying them anymore then that means something!
Why do people get so upset when someone tells them it looks like the Prime is going away? Is it that you don't want the tablet you bought to be discontinued? Deal with it, if you like the tablet then good for you, if it's discontinued are you going to like it less?
I hate to fuel the fire but have we seen any C40 serials yet?
There's another side to stores carrying or not carrying the Prime. Just because a manufacturer offers a product doesn't mean that every reseller will sell it. They'll stock (B&M) and offer (online) what sells and/or feature the products from the manufacturers that offer the best volume incentives and marketing support cash. Why do you think so many resellers stock and feature Samsung tablets? Because their incented to do so (carrots and sticks). Think of the volume of Samsung products BB and Costco sell when you factor in appliances, TV's, audio, and laptops. Asus can’t offer BB and Costco a 2% invoice discount on TV’s for pushing the Prime whereas Samsung can. Buyers for resellers use their calculators when determining what to stock and aren't awed by shiny aluminum back covers.

Nope, not that I know of.. or of any comments I have read. I brought this up in another thread....
Btw, Prime will not be discontinued because Asus will not publicly & officially come out with a statement that it'll get discontinued. You will just stop seeing them in stores, or will be "difficult" to purchase/find as time goes on (although, this has been the case since launch...).
I did notice the MTR review of the Pad 300 being a c4 serial.... Why would they Pad 300 start their serial C4 if the last prime we saw had a C3?? Makes me question the prime even more.
Try to think of it this way how often have you seen a car company simultaneously manufacture the current model year and last years model ? Right now is the "year end sale" phase of the prime life cycle. They will more than likely introduce the infinity within the comming months. Once its on sale is is highly unlikely sales from the prime would cover the cost making the prime at that point due to it basically being made obsolete by the infinity.
