My wife, kids and I just become first time Android owners. I have the E3D while the wife and kids all have the E4G. I followed to the letter the instructions given HERE> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1158400 and was able to temp root my E3D first try without any issues. I have read and read til I thought I was going to go blind and have not found what I was looking for OR simply missed it all together.
My families E4G's all have Gingerbread 2.3.3. Will the temp root method posted HERE> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1158400 work for them as well?
I have been all over the E4G section and I keep coming across custom roms but have not seen anything for rooting the E4G with G-bread 2.3.3. Am I missing something, simply not seeing it etc etc? Any/all help or push in the right direction getting the E4G's done too would be greatly appreciated.
Hey there.. and welcome to Android..
I believe the Temp Root only works for the E3D..
And rooting the EVOs depend on which HBOOT and software it has.
I believe there's not a root for Gingerbread 2.3.3 yet.
Take a look at these and see if they help:

My wife just got a refurb warranty Evo 4G running the "official Gingerbread".....There is presently no root method for phones shipped with Gingerbread. Sorry, but your wife & kids are in the same boat as my wife...No Root.

Hey No Problem at all.. I was in the same boat when I first started learning how to root my EVO (oh how I miss it more and more everyday). It can be a daunting task trying to sift thru all those threads and it sucks even more when you get flamed for asking questions...
And thank you very much for your THANKS... Much Appreciated
I guess they will just have to wait it out. Again thanks for the quick and informative replies.
Have been reading any and all Rooting Posts and I have come to the conclusion that as of now, Most, if not all of the Rooting techniques are a shot in the dark.
If there is one good way that is reliable and doesn't screw up one thing or another than I have not seen it.
Example......Superoneclick....works on one phone but not the next....Roms....need more fixes to get to work than Microsoft.....
Tell me is there a proven way to unlock the bootloader, Root the phone and get Gingerbread to work fully ?
I may be new to this site and believe me I would love to have a open phone....But I have other things to do than F around trying to get a already KickAss phone to work.....Just saying....

you need to do more reading, no one uses superoneclick for the atrix... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1165791
Read the stickies..
Have you ever opened the android dev section?
Almost everything is in the sticky thread of clown.. With faqs guides etc..
Unlock your bootloader depending what atrix you have(att or international), then install the tenfars port of CWM4, and then you can root using the CWM root method..

To build on your Microsoft comment...............Some software is not compatible with all versions of Windows. The Atrix came out with Windows 95, has made it to XP, and with GB will be Windows 7. If you are not happy with the devs work, what they have done for everyone, and can't filter through the threads to get what you want, maybe you should get an iPhone and stick Cydia on it!......Or get a Windows phone because you won't have to "fix" anything on it!
If you want help, then you have started out the wrong way. Your post needs to be objective, and not flaming all the work others have done because you can't implement any of it, and are confused.
Root, ROM's, etc., do not need a bunch of fixes............you just have to READ so you know which ones work together for what you want. If you had actually taken the time, you would know that the bootloader has been unlocked, root is working, and GB is awesome. You just have to check the instructions for what you want on your Atrix, whether it be AT&T, Orange, Bell, etc.
Personally, I am on an AT&T Atrix 4G with unlocked bootloader, rooted, with GB 4.5.91, and have absolutely no complaints ot problems!
Since you don't want to F around, watch that door................it's heavy and swings closed fast.........wouldn't want it to hit you between the buttocks on the way out!
Bell ATRIX, unlocked bootloader, rooted, running 2.3.4. No problems

Not really. Its not difficult at all. Just read and it will make sense. Its similar to the og evo root method. Hit the button, flash recovery, reboot.
I Haz 3D
Point is, Just do it. You will learn a lot from just doing while trying not to fathom the "big words" or "strange names" for different stuff. YES, something CAN happen, but usually follow the steps and all will be fine. When I first rooted my first phone I was not really linguistic in the lingo we use now for rooting such devices, it reminded me of the ole AOL WAREZ days and those silly but fun AUto programs we used in the chat rooms. I say... Take the plunge.
EDIT: Don't be lazy (like me) and NOT read it. There is no ONE click easy method if this is your first time. Once you have rooted this phone though your ext and future roots will eb easier and make more since.

Wrong section, please pay attention to where you are posting next time.
In regards to your question, there really isn't an "easier way". The AlphaRev tool is one of the easiest I have ever seen. I suppose if that is too hard you could void your warranty and go the HTC route(Not Recommended).
i already did it with HTC. i want clockwork or something.

Since you followed HTC's method you are stuck as of right now. Their method unlocks your bootloader, but still has a NAND lock keeping you from flashing to different partitions. This situation is similar to the OG Evo if I'm not mistaken. Just wait around and a root method should appear.

You will see claims from people in these forums that they were able to root and install recovery using HTC's unlocking, but those are false claims. All of those posters had been previously rooted using revolutionary.io. No one that took the OTA on a phone that hadn't previously been unlocked have been successful installing a custom recovery.
Basically you have an unlocked bootloader, now you will have to wait for someone to come up with an exploit like "rage against the cage" from the Evo to unlock the nand and attain s-off. If you had the original Evo 4g you will remember that in order to root you had to use unrevoked or Toast's method. Something similar to that will now be needed.
For those reading this your best option is to hold off using HTC's unlocker and if you haven't taken the 2.08 update use revolutionary.io to unlock your phone and if you did take the update or have a phone that came with the update, wait for an update to revolutionary.io.

I completely agree that many of the new users do often get a bit excited and "rush" to root or unlock their devices (without fully understanding or reading directions) and end up in a lurch. But not a single person on this forum should log in to make a person feel bad or incompetent. If you see someone that jumped the gun and is lost, please help them. If you can't, then just let someone who can do it. We are all here to learn and help each other out. Let's stick to that and everyone will be happy.

Amen! I totally agree.
Furthermore, vBulletin, phpBB, Wiki* and most technologies used to share and publish information and content are just terribly inefficient in regards to topics like these (Android, rooting, development, tech, etc.). Newcomers simply can not come into forums like these and find the info or content they want consistently. You can tag, break stuff up into sub-forums and make stickies like 3M 'til your blue in the face but until you fully understand a noob's thought process and behavior and have the software reflect that we forever will have these problems.
One temporary resolution is to try to change the one variable we can change in this equation. That is to try to cease the negative comments since we already know noobs and their questions are a constant.
Do not use the HTC root method, just use the Revolutionary method and before doing so download and copy TWRP and a ROM and flash in HBOOT\Recovery
root with s-on
Like an idiot, I unlocked my bootloader via official HTC way. I have not rooted my phone with revolutionary, my phone was completely stock. I was able to flash CWM via fastboot and install superuser via CWM.
Hey Guys,
I for some reason flashed KTT16's Undergroud Sea Theme that I didn't know was meant for Joker's ROM. I used it on stock and after a while my status bar kept force closing...
So, I SBF'd my Photon and did all of the latest updates, went to use the ACS AIO Root, and it didn't work.
I got a bunch of errors, and it says after that I should now be rooted. But I'm not!
I've used the same AIO Root for my Photon all of the time, can someone repost a link to the AIO Root, maybe the files got distorted, or there's something wrong with my phone...
Any help?

1- Factory Reset
2- Install drivers
3 - Then SBF to 154_5
4 - SBF to 198_7
5 - Try the torpedo method to root
Done.
I had some bad AIO files.
This issue is now resolved.
Gracias for all of your help!!!
Dude, AIO (All-In-One) Root uses Torpedo, bro!!!
All made by my company --- ACS!!!
I am a Journalist, Researcher, & Press Release Director! I love ACS!
They make rooting the Photon so easy!
And you wonder why Shabby (Shabbypenguin) is so great??? He's an ACS Dev!!! We at ACS make it all happen!
(I swear on my life, if a mod decides to mark this as spam, you can go somewhere else, I am not advertising, I am just mentioning my job along with another user. Mark this as spam, and I will report you directly to XDA. ACS is a competitor, yes, but I am making a point not advertising!)
I've noticed some mods are spam infraction hungry when it comes to ACS, so I just wanted to put that out there.

Now I see, lol... Yeah, I'm on sick leave right now so I won't be on ACS as a writer for a while but I am still the acting press release director, and doing press work, although I am on sick leave. I'll be back soon I hope. I can't wait to come back to ACS, but I can't right now .

I would PM you why, but it's really no big secret. I was diagnosed with a connective tissue joint disorder and will need physical therepy and medication. I have to wait a few week for my PT but I'm on the pain meds, and I'm just dragging along the forums while I recover... it causes chronic pain... meds are helping, now on to PT and Physical Conditioning.

Just re-download the AIO Files. Google "Motorola Photon 4G XDA Forums ACS AIO Root" anf you should find it, then click on the download link.
My files just got corrupted over time. This is very rare to happen to anyone, files rarely get corrupted. I used the same exact files months ago to root my replacement Photon, and over time they just got a little corrupted. That's all...
