help i've broke my mozart's camera - 7 Mozart General

hi everyone i've just found my htc mozart with the glass of the camera broke where i can buy it? (online i means)

the camera still working only the glass is broke

hi
your best bet would be contacting htc in your country (call the call centre). because, well, replacing the camera lens on the mozart is going to be a BIG pain regardless of where you go. You'll probably have to send the phone in, and wait for a few days. It shouldn't cost too much, and i don't think it'll be covered under a warranty (if you have a valid one).
what a shame, the camera's quite good.

Green Rear Camera Repair Cost Question

Hello everyone,
This is not the same "What do I do?" post about the green rear camera screen that others have posted around the web.
Please scroll to the bold text to see my question if you've already experienced a green camera image when using the rear camera.
I have been experiencing what a lot of people have with their Transformer Prime tablet. The green screen and force closing of the camera application when using the rear camera. It started as just a small portion of the camera image being slightly distorted, but I was still able to take pictures as simply changing the orientation of the screen to portrait then landscape again seemed to remedy this. Just a week or two later, I am now experiencing the green screen with random noise lines consistently. I used to be able to get it to work intermittently, but now it's totally dead in the water.
I have done the research and it seems to be that this is a hardware problem. I notice when I attempt to activate the camera, if I feel in between the front camera and photo sensor, it gets very warm in that spot. When I activate the front camera, or reboot, it's no longer warm. Seems to be a heat-sink problem?
Anyways, The reason I'm posting this thread is this: I, like many, have unlocked my Prime and voided my warranty on this product.
My question is: Has anyone voided their warranty, and had to RMA the product for this problem? If so, how much did it cost to get your camera replaced / repaired? Since the whole unit cost $500, I'm hoping it's no more than $150 with labor. Posting the amount you paid will certainly help me and others in this situation gauge whether or not it's worth it to have a working rear facing camera.
Thank you for your help!
Getting warm can mean there is a short, perhaps the camera was not properly installed at the factory? when the prime goes to activate it it might short and get warm.
You COULD try the "opened my prime" thread or videos on youtube about how to open your tablet, find the camera module and CAREFULLY try to reconnect it or see if anything looks misaligned.
Otherwise you might find a part number for that camera module and see about ordering one online, shouldnt be more than like $50 and you can install it yourself. Overall not a difficult undertaking if your willing to put a little time into it.
Aside from that the only people i know doing repairs on primes is asus rma and they as a whole seem to be very disorganized. have a read into all the people who have had bad experiences with asus rma.
Good luck! Hopefully this helped.
Yeah, I am a person who likes to tinker with things. The problem is I use this tablet for work a lot so unfortunately I can't take the risk of taking it apart myself. Thanks for the reply though! I might have to look up that thread just to see how it's done though in case i do decide to go that route. Thanks!
I would guess that if you send it to Asus to repair and they make you pay because of the warranty, it will be approximately the same price as ordering another tablet online. Hopefully I'm wrong and you can ship it to Asus and have them fix it for less than 200 and only be without it for 2 or 3 weeks.
Like you said, finding out what other people paid will be helpful. But buying another tablet may be something I would consider if you either need it for work and can't be without it for a month, or the repair costs around 300 by the time you ship it there and back and pay for the repair service.
Something else that might be worth considering is finding a reputable third party repair service, if they exist for the prime. If those services work on the prime they will probably have a flat fee for a camera repair/replacement. I've used both OEM services and third party repair companies and had good results with both. If your warranty is shot anyway you might have a quicker turnaround. Just do your research first, and I always talk to someone on the phone to make sure they seem professional, and see what others say about the company.

UK repair cost
I am experiencing the green camera problem. I tried to contact Asus support to take the unit under RMA on a extended warranty. Apparently UK Prime owners were given an extra 6 months warranty for all the faults with product, but they would not honor this. (6 months + 12 month standard warranty period). So the costing is below:
Cost of a RMA in the UK is £60 pick up and inspection.
The cost of labour and a spare replacement camera is min. £60.
The camera module can be purchased from Asusparts.eu. Quite pricey tbh. Could argue to be beyond economical repair for a camera that's not used much.

SII camera replacement

I ruined my camera by getting my phone wet and starting the cam when it was still wet... Phone is still working, but the camera isn't. I sent it back to Samsung, but they said they can't repair it due to the phone got wet.
Now I'm thinking of buying a replacement part for the camera, but I've heard some people say the quality of the replacement part sucks.
Is there anyone here who has experience with the camera replacement part? How's the quality of it?

Blur in left side of photos

I noticed on some of my pics a blur on the left side and most others do not. When the background is farther away it seems blury compared with the 900 photos which don't do that. I will post a sample of a pic of my motorcycle later, but I was wondering if anyone else noticed that.
Due to the smaller aperture size you get a reduced depth of field. Therefore if you focus on something farther away things that are nearer will turn out blurry at some point. Similarily if you focus on something near you the background will blur. That effect is well known in photography: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depth_of_field
Most phone camera lenses have a very large depth of field due to their small size. I guess that is the reason for the effect you're having. In regular cameras or at least SLRs you can adjust the aperture to change this but with smartphones it's constant.

Sounds reasonable, but it does not explain the reason the left side is worse than the right... here are some samples of what I mean.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/0kh2recr74d1o0a/WP_20121205_002.jpg From the front tire to the tree on the far left, and look at the distance on the right... fairly ok.
Again
https://www.dropbox.com/s/yikkpiymypxsm2t/WP_20121130_012.jpg Look at the focus on the right compared to the left at the same distance... you can also see by the left end of the bike it is out of focus. I have plenty of indoor shots that are perfect, some out door. However, it seems the outdoor shots are having the most trouble. Right side looks ok.. left side not so good.

Different story
That looks like either gunk on your lens, or an actual hardware problem (either with the image stabilization system or the AF lense)
That does not look like normal DOF focus.

Cleaned the heck out of the lens, no change. Bought the phone on Craigslist so calling Nokia... will see where that gets me.
Its the lens .. the N8 had a similar issue. All in all the only Carl Zeiss lens on a phone that deservers the name and it somewhat performs accordingly is the one on the 808.

My N8 had the out of focus problem on the right of every picture. My 920 doesn't have the problem so it's worth getting your checked by Nokia.
Bad lens or assembly problem.
WARNING!!!!!
Called Nokia support on this issue and eventually they had me do a hard reset. This had the gears on a spinfest! After an hour I reset the phone and all that would come up is the Nokia logo. Apparently others have called on the battery issue and had the same problem. If you aren't ready to up and send the phone back to Nokia... say it's the weekend and you called on a minor issue.... Never fear, I fixed mine on my own.... using the Nokia care suite. Treat it as you are refurbishing a non booting phone. It had me up and running. With the blurry lens unfortunately. http://www.mediafire.com/?xos6ckvsas5xkdi#!
I wanted to update this thread
No receipt, who knows where it came from, paid for at a used phone price, Went down to AT&T to get a SIM for a Radar I bought off Craigslist as a backup unit... They covered the phone with a lens issue, they did not have one to swap out in the store so they overnighted me a replacement. Much better photos all the way around! I was pleasantly surprised.
basically sometime is the lens blurry.. need to get nokia care to clean the lens and it should be ok

Eventhough I bought the phone on Craigslist used, AT&T took care of it right away. The photos all the way around seem to be coming out better. Maybe there was dirt back there or the lens was messed up, I don't know. All is perfect now, some of the photos are jaw dropping what a mobile phone can produce.

I guess I wasn't clear on that... you get in a rush sometimes.. I wanted to keep people updated on that becuase what happened with support and how I was able to bring the phone back to life.
I strongly urge anyone who buys a Nokia Phone to have the care suite... just in case.
Here is what happened at the At&t store: I called Nokia support.. went through the reset game and filled out the RMA form. I talked with At&t briefly about my situation. I bought a Radar to use temporarly, the plan was to unlock it and sell it when I get a new one. Unfortunately it uses and older SIM so I was told by AT&T phone support how they would deal with that. When I went to the store I told the front counter I needed a replacement SIM. The salesperson asked what was wrong with the phone and I told him about the focus issue. I told him I bought the phone elsewhere. I was then told as long as it is a branded AT&T and under warranty they will take care of it. He sent me back to the support area. They appoligized they did not have any replacement phones on hand, it can take a couple months. The support person overnighted me a replacement phone. The next day I had what looks like a brand new phone. For $380 I ended up with a new lumia 920... not bad
Nice makes sense as if its an AT&T branded 920 they all have a one year warranty and (i believe) it should be regardless of owner and based on hardware
I'm on the same boat. I bought my Lumia 920 locally since the only carrier that sells the phone here in Canada is Rogers. Now, I am having overheating issues and would like to get a replacement. Hopefully Nokia will let me get another one even though I have no receipt. I'll call them tomorrow to see if it's possible.

Just in case you are still unaware, I am sure the warranty is the same in Canada... it does not matter.. the form for RMA asks for your IMEI number. Name and address, nothing else. No proof of purchase. First though, I would take to Rogers. You never know, I got a way better deal at AT&T over Nokia.

Have you read about Nokia locking down access sometime in Mid January to its ROMs and firmwares that are available on their site. We may need to figure out a different way to get past this problem.

[Q] I bought a used Rogers Lumia 920 45/2012. Can I get an exchange?

So I recently bought a used Lumia 920 locked to Rogers from criagslist up here in Toronto.
After spending a day with it I've noticed that this is a highly defective piece.
The rattle on the vibration motor is horrendous!
The dust under the front facing camera makes me wonder how the front facing camera takes any pictures. :/
Is there any recourse for me? Or am I up the creek without a paddle as they say?

I have the same situation too man. Bought mine in kijiji here in Montreal. Though, I am having overheating problems. I emailed Stephen Elop (chief executive) and surprisingly got a response and directed me to a support team. They will call me this Thursday to try and sort things out. Try your luck, there's nothing to loose!
Also, there's a member who bought a L920 (AT&T) off craigslist and had pleasant results.

Hmm, so according to the thread you posted. I should try calling up Rogers and getting warranty support from them?
Unfortunately I don't have an account with them so I think I'm not covered that way. But I'll try walking into a store anyways.
I'll try emailing Nokia as well...
Yup, it's worth a shot!

Dead Spot in Camera Sensor

Ok, question for you guys. I noticed this weekend that my camera sensor has a dead spot in it. If I purchased the phone through AT&T, do you think they would take care of it at the store or would I have to send it to HTC? I'll attach some pics of the spot.
Thanks for your help

I think the camera is fine. You just have a law enforcement drone surveilling you.
You made sure they are not dead LCD pixels? Take it to AT&T first, but if it is after 30 days, they will likely make you deal with HTC.

Lol, The UFO/Drone thought did cross my mind.
It's definitely sensor as these pics are, pretty much, directly form the camera.

They changed the in-store return policy some time ago. You only have 14 days to swap in-store for a new device. After that, you go through AT&T warranty department and will probably get a refurbished M8.
But you don't ever have to deal directly with HTC, if you purchased from AT&T.
I assume OP has checked the glass on both cameras to make sure its not just some dirt or dust on the surface of the glass? I've also noticed a spec of dust under the glass ("inside" the phone) but in front of the actual camera module (top camera), on my M8. It seems to be out of the way, and can't be seen in photos. Although its possible it will move in the future, and be seen in pics. Can you see anything like that inside? Not something you can fix easily. But at least might give you an idea what is going on.
Otherwise, maybe it is a defect of the camera sensor itself, as the OP mentioned.

Yes, I have checked the glass on the camera to make sure it's not that. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure it's a dead spot or debris on my sensor. I'm leaning towards dead spot though as I've tapped the phone on a hard surface and the spot doesn't move. Guess I'll bring it into AT&T and see what they say.
Thank you
