Thank you very much for this, I'm sure the community will have fun being able to somewhat play with gingerbread till CM7 nightly builds are out next week hopefully. =]

Not really, I flashed it. Like the OP says, no back button, no menu, no genius, not even a keyboard. In addition, no auto brightness, and when you try to manually change it, the settings app force closes. As a result, screen is pretty dark for me. Also, for some reason it takes up 228 mb on /system, so I had to repartition. There are little or no cyanogenmod parts in the ROM, so frankly, I'd stick on froyo if I were you until the cm7 RC1 comes out. At least until nightlies start. Frankly, since this is alpha, it shouldn't have even been posted, it's hardly functional.
Well with the CM7 thread going on in the general forum, people were requesting arayray to upload it for testing purposes, so in large I agree with you MusicMan, but some folks are just too eager for the Gingerbread!

I agree with that somewhat, but it's hard to test something when you can't even exit an on screen keyboard since you don't have a back button. Or when you can't change an apps settings because you don't have a menu button. Not to mention you can barely see the screen. Nothing THIS alpha should be posted. If menu and back worked, and screen brightness, it MIGHT be acceptable for testing purposes. But something this early on in development shouldn't be posted.
If menu and back was working, I would use this as my daily driver
I'm going to test this to see how gingerbread is on the mytouch slide
thank you for sharing this......any idea why the framework fails to de-odex?
As I stated not a fully working rom if you can do a better job with what you got go ahead please do it, all this rom is, is basically to play with until me or someone from CM can get the vendors to build it. Take it or leave it
I had auto brightness working before but Im not going to mess with it anymore
going to give this a shot andsee how buggy it is! will report back soon
Gonna make a backup and then try this.
Just wanna take a look, haha.
If I haven't done anything with partitions, or have S-OFF, will I be okay to try?
Nothings changed, just backup and flash
I found a few things that might be a quick fix, could fix front buttons + keyboard. You can save me a couple minutes of downloading and running diff.
Did you use init.latte.rc from CM6, or did you edit init.legend.rc to fit the slide?
No I didnt try that... I have been messing with the keylayouts
Haha, this is fun.
Sure it doesn't have a lot of the buttons, but I'll just use the home button while I play around.
I'm loving the little extras like the orange glows when hitting a top or bottom border... or the little animation when locking the device...
I nearly exploded seeing that.
If anyone wants to work on fixing anything go for it, you have my blessing. Im going to try and compile a fully working rom from source
Why is xbin and lib so big on gingerbread, in froyo system folder is small. but now it's the size of a sense rom. But do you know if the gingerbread source includes ext4 file system like on nexus s?
Arayray is the man! He is the first to bring Gingerbread to us. I hope this rom will evolve, so at least front facing buttons would work.

I have just done a blanket delete of 77 posts, so if your legitimate post was caught up in that, I apologise.
Now on to the more important stuff. Racism, and swearing will not be tolerated here. In my clean up of this thread I had to delete many posts with swearing in them, and a few racist ones. Let me make it clear. I will not hesitate to have you banned if you post racist remarks. Swearing will be dealt with by way of an infraction, and flaming / trolling will be dealt with by way of a warning, then infractions if you continue.
This is the one and only warning to all concerned in this thread. Infractions / bans are the next step if you keep this up.
I have used stock roms, Cm7.2, Miui, and Cm9.
Only to be continually disappointed by my photography results. I hope I don't insult anyone because I respect the photon by I had similar problems with the Atrix cough Motorola cough.
Has anyone found a good camera app.. Thanks and please don't take it negatively just honest.

Thanks, may I ask where I would download that? Also I am currently with locked boot loader rooted with Ics keyboard and launcher pro. Lightning launcher is cool too. Anyways I realize the stock camera is pretty good and the pictures I had from ICs were not so bad.
I use camera zoom fx, and it works pretty well. I at first thought that my camera didn't take good pictures either, but once I put it on the computer it came out looking a lot better than I thought.

Agreed. The Photon screen makes human skin look redish-greenish. Transfer your pics to a computer and they'll look a lot better.
I do not recommend loading this. Just watch the video.
I literally asked some friends yesterday if CM10 had been updated anywhere. Can't wait for more progress. If only the charging/battery bug gets fixed, then I can use this.

Developers for the Touchpad never cease to amaze.
Thank you for this proof of concept! It's only a matter of time now....
i'm happy to see some are still working on it.
Thanks to all the devs who put up with all the bs/drama/'are we there yet' whining, you collectively persevered and the Touchpad is once again, back from the dead. If this build is considered 'unstable,' I can't wait for the RC builds... Big ups to Jcsullins, Dorregaray, OAT, SGA, and all the teams who've kept the Tpad truckin', keep up the excellent work.

This is most excellent! Incredible work!
I rooted a while back using CASUAL and was planning on flashing the Beans ROM while I was on my holiday break, but now that the official 4.3 update has come out and a bunch of the ROMs that include Note 3 features are being modified to use the update as their ultimate base, I'm waiting. The catch is, I am having a hard time grokking the differences between them and therefore making a decision as to which one to try.
The ones I'm looking at are DittoNote 3, SkyNote, and Nephilim. Can anyone who's familiar with all three sum up the similarities and differences with regard to features and what's not working? Are there others I should be considering?
Thanks!
I'm using DN3. It's cool but in beta I think. It has a lot of bugs.one bug is huge as you probably read. The mms issue. But there are other issues as well like the Web browser glitches when entering it or rotating screen you get this like scrunched stretched screen. Video player gallery does not play the previews or the lager s pen activated previews. This reply is getting long so I will stop there. But it's good enough to use as a daily driver if you use the mms work around. It's based of the inter. Version so stuff is a little odd. But I like it so far. I think I'm going to try neph. Next

MMS - I'm a bit confused from reading the DN3 thread - is MMS completely broken, or only when accessing it from Hangouts?
Web browser - not too worried about that, as I'm using Next Browser
Video player gallery - I don't do much with video, so that doesn't worry me much either.
It seems like DN3 might be a good choice for me. I like the professionalism in their presentation and their stated desired to get everything right - it seems like they are going to functional and useful instead of flashy and cool, which appeals very much to me.
Given that they're predicting their next release will be soon (they were aiming for yesterday), maybe I'll hold off for a few more days and try this one. Unless anyone chimes in with good things about the others?

That looks pretty good - is N3bula a new version of DN3, or a spinoff?

Based on the end of the DN3 thread, I *think* it is the new and improved version. However, I haven't tried either so I really can't say. Both deckoz and L18 are responsive so you might want to ask in the thread.

I've been staying here because I was under the 10-post minimum, but hey - I'm over it now! I'll go do that Thanks!
Hi everyone
I would like to know why our camera doesn't support long shutter speed (30-60 secs), I know it's a limitation of camera2API, but isn't there a way to edit those drivers so we can make it possible? I mean, what's the difference between 1 sec shutter speed (which is aviable for the moment only with the stock camera app in night mode) and 30 seconds shutter speed? I guess the sensor would be able to behave in such a way and since Sony refuses to modify their drivers, would it be too difficult (or impossible) for a developer to activate this feature? I would pay gold for it :fingers-crossed:
I think you should talk with @mkdmc or @[email protected] users. They're developers who know about this things. I invite to you to search their camera mods to see their jobs in http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony-themes-apps
Still
I've already seen their mods, but as far as I've seen the limitation is still there: 1 seconds... Anyway thanks for answering, will try to contact them for sure

Yeah that's why i comment you, ask them for your question. I think it's not that easy to make the limitation out, but maybe it's a chance with Nougat. Hope the developers find the way to make the good z5 camera work with better functions.
Can't understand why Sony doesn't allow this and also the ability to capture RAW pictures... There is popular demand all over the internet! Maybe it's because they're selling external qx cameras... who knows

Yeah it is a pity because imx 300 is a good sensor, not the best for low light but still good. It's funny because if they won't bring more manual controls for qx cameras, they at least should put Raw in those products, but no, only jpeg xD. Whatever, i really trust in developers of XDA because they're hardly working for bring us what Sony should do initially.
Its a shame as soon as you post a thread wondering why / when sony will get RAW support they remove the post instantly. I loved this phone until the camera support started to get sucky.
We need dev's who can modify the camera blobs (Which will of course take ages since they are not open source)
So, I tried to contact mkdmc and [email protected] as you @SebastianAlejandro suggested me to.
So far mkdmc didn't answer me and I doubt he will ever do so, while [email protected] did, something like a month ago, telling me that he would have talked to other developers about my request (longer shutter speed).
So I'm hoping to get an answer, but it will probably come after Christmas holidays, maybe when Nougat will be released. I'll keep you informed?

Thanks for the info. I really hope that Nougat will unlock all possibilities for the camera. peter.schwake says that new updates maybe will come in this days so let's wait what news he bring to us.

Seems like Nougat didn't give too much improvement about this so far? haha. Do you have any news?
Anyway I found this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/themes-apps/apk-lcamera-longer-exposure-shooting-t3516152
Wondering if it would work on our device too
If someone is still interested, I update to tell you that maybe long exposures are possible on aosp roms, with the help of "Freedcam" (defcomg developer). If I'll be able to, I will try by myself.
