[Request] Bluetooth Bitpool Increase - HTC EVO 3D

If this thread is in the wrong section I apologize.
I have the EVO 3D and have the same trouble that I had with the EVO 4G until I started using CM7.
The A2DP bitpool is either set too low or something, but the audio crackles on 90% of music.
Is there any progress being made on this or is there an easy way to increase the bitpool?
Thanks

Wrong section, this is the dev section not request section. That being said, I couldn't agree more. Unfortunately the bluetooth stack used by HTC is know for these issues. Cyanogenmod will fix this but not sure if it is fixable with sense based roms or not.

Questions or Problems Should Not Be Posted in the Development Forum

Moving to General

Yeah, this issue is in all sense based roms. The bitpool ist set to 32 by default, which causes the audio sounds like crap via bluetooth.
The only way to fix this is to compile a new kernel with some higher bitpool.
Just downlaoded the kernel source but didn't find the file/function where the bitpool is set yet =/

+1
Would love better BT audio, I use BT headphones daily

Good news, contacted HTC and they decided to add this to their bug list and will contact me when it gets fixed.

Bluetooth Stack from Evo 3d

I am really not sure of whether this should go here, or in Q&A, but I'll err on the side of here for this. the bluetooth on HTC devices is notoriously bad, and people ask constantly if there is a way to port the CM7 stack to sense, sadly AFAIK this is simply too much of a PITA to consider it.
I was looking at the Evo 3D specs though and it seems to support BT3.0 and a ton of profiles. Is there a reason it cannot be used in other phones roms with sense?
You're right. Q&A is the best place. Moved.
Bump for a feature we need.
I thought Imo ported a newer stack in his sense kernel, though I cannot say for sure since I havent used sense in a while.

Supercurio's LOUDER and AOSP followed by a development proposal

Well, after waiting for LOUDER to be released by Supercurio, I can safely confirm that the app doesn't work on AOSP roms. Now I am still new to the GS2 world and am not sure if the information I have is correct but I speculate that the reason the app doesn't work on AOSP roms is because of that 50% volume bug that we all experience.
I am not sure why the 50% bug still exists but it leads me to believe that it is because of hacked libraries to make the sound interface layer communicate with the phone's hardware.
Now, what I would like to propose is for us to see why the app can't communicate with the sound interface and see if we can fix it
I want to help but I just don't know where to start so if someone can point me in the right direction I would love that!
Also, if the mods deem it fit, can they move this thread to the development forums seeing as I can't post there as I am still "new" (been on XDA since the Desire )?
Thanks!

REPEAT we do not all have this supposed bug .

ICS ROM integration with Beats audio kernel?

Setting all debate aside about whether or not Beats audio actually sounds different, how hard would it be to splice together Beats from the Olympus ROM and Joelz' or preludedrew's ICS roms? I know Beats relies on specific kernel elements as well as integration in both the system (Sense-dependant?) and the Music app. Would the issue only be porting over sense-dependant elements or is there more getting in the way?

From what I understand, it would be almost impossible or take a ton of extra work. I believe it goes a lot deeper then just an .apk or two. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Plus, you can't have full beats support ever again.

Whats this?
It was illegal to port beats which is proprietary. But if HTC included with the ICS upgrae they promised us then it would be legal to hack it up for our device
Yep, I literally just read in the dev forums that the Beats part of the kernel was affected as well... however many still have the RLS9 kernel from chad
No AOSP ROM has Beats yet, just much much nicer audio drivers. I don't think is going to happen, and since the hardcore CM devs will turn their noses up at such a thing as Beats, I wouldn't count on it in the future.

Any chance of cm7 for EVO3D GSM?

I've been using cm7 on other devices and it's my first choice. I don't want any sense stuff....
I have a gsm EVO3D in UK.
The cdma version has official cm7 support? Has there been a cm7 port for the gsm version?
Sounds like you didn't bother to do any sort of reading in the DEVELOPMENT forum for the GSM version, which would have answered your question. +1 for being lazy.
Ok, I accept the critic, you could give me a +10 for lazy....
Can you maybe enlighten me a little? I presume there's no cm7 coming, maybe waiting on the cm9...?

Evidently this is a foreign concept to you, but please READ. Go look in the GSM development section, there is a whole thread on it. Do you expect to be spoon-fed? At least make an effort, especially if I just told you where to find the answer.
OK I found the thread a couple of days ago and being new to HTC EVO3D I was hoping there might be more
In the cm7 thread it's plain
Quote:
Left to do:
hardware acceleration
bt avrcp
camera
3d
Thats a rom only for devs to play around with...
Surprising because the cdma version has official cm7 with nightlies and only differs very slightly from the gsm version in terms of hardware... apart from the cdma/gsm network they're completely identical in every way....
I think us GSM users got the short straw. It's a shame there's a fragmented development on thus device which doesn't seem to affect many others.

Not completely identical, to port it over requires a fair bit of work, plus c7 has it's work cut out with the 3D camera's, chances are it'll never be perfect. Plus stock ICS is going to be another hard nut to crack.
As for the lazyness, simply type up the top in the search panel EVO 3D c7 and that would be it.
post on their forum if you need to check on progress, but it's quite taboo to ask for an update from a dev, they tend to turn green and smoke comes out of their ears if they hear that type of question and you may be face palmed.

[Q] Are there any AOSP ROMs that have WiMax / 4G support for the Evo 3D?

Are there any AOSP ROMs that have WiMax / 4G support for the Evo 3D?
ClawDaddy has figured out that Sense is breaking bluetooth so the phone won't phone book sync with bluetooth 2.x cars. But, if you load an AOSP ROM, it syncs perfect as it should!
However, I couldn't find any AOSP Roms that have Wimax / 4G support. I don't care about giving up sense so I can finally bluetooth sync to my car again, but I don't want to give up 4G.
It's more likely htc didn't include the right code for Bluetooth to work with your car in the kernel than sense. Kinda 1 in the same but you might be able to try different kernels and find 1 that has this enabled. I don't know of 1 that does but might be what you're looking for.

the answer is a resounding "NO"
That's right. That's a big negative for your answer. We'll probably get it by years end since it takes a while to reverse engineer 4g goodness. Plus it's not a high priority right now. And probably never will.

No, but the wiimax is being developed in a kang build of CM7 dubbed "KM7" by some. Progress is being made, and it is the dev of this rom's main concern. Browse the Evo 3D CDMA Development forum and find a CyanogenMod 7 post by KMeyers. The most recent update to it, as of today, was made February 3rd, 2012. Keep an eye on it.
