I get that when I plug my phone into my computer. Any USB (I've tried all). I've uninstalled and reinstalled the driver from here:
http://www.motorola.com/Support/US-...tware_and_Drivers/USB-and-PC-Charging-Drivers
I've tried all four types of USB connection. I have used the Motorola Driver Installer and it does not help. I've restarted the PC and phone several times, CCleaned it, no dice.
My phone used to bring up the Motorola Phone Portal in my browser, now it doesn't. It also doesn't show as a device in 'Computer' where it would normally be.
This is happening on my home PC (win7 pro x64) and my work PC (win7 ent x64)
Whaddafack?
Someone over in the Motorola Forums had this issue as well so I gave them this response and it seemed to work.
**"Do you have "Motorola Media Link" installed on your computer? Connect your phone, set the usb mode to "Media Sync" and see if Media Link is installed. If not, you can install here:
http://www.motorola.com/Consumers/U...are/Motorola-Media-Link-Windows-Version-US-EN
After it connects to Media Link, switch the usb mode to "Motorola Phone Portal" and see if it will install the drivers at that point."**

I'll try it and post here if it worked.
This is all I get:
Are you sure you had the usb mode set to "Media Sync"? And have you tried it in that sequence? [Set to Media Sync then switch to Motorola Phone Portal]

Yes, I've tried it in all modes, still gives me the little popup I've screenshotted above Also the "usb device not recognized" bubble comes up instantly when the phone is plugged in or is switching modes.
I've got 3 sets of cables here and none are working, all the same issue.
Is there something on the phone that I can reset or something?
Are any of those three cords the one that came with the phone?
Have you tried plugging into one of the rear ports of the computer?
Do you have a task killer that is "auto-ending" any apps?
Have you tried toggling between USB Debugging on/off?
When using MotoHelper, did you try the "Clean" option?
I'm really out of suggestions. Hopefully someone else can jump in.

Yes, one is an original Motorola cable from my phone, I also have one other motorola one and one blackberry one.
I've tried every port on the whole PC (2 in front, 4 in back). I do have ATK running....I'll try it with that off.
Where is this debugging option?
I have used all options in MotoHelper.
Edit: I found debugging, it still says the same thing but I'm going to try cleaning/uninstalling/etc. with debugging on/off in the mix

No, still same ol' same ol'.........
Windows is giving me this error:
"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"
Ran this:
http://support.microsoft.com/mats/hardware_device_problems/
Didn't find a fix, still sees it as unknown device
http://www.screenr.com/H3xs
I've done this and restarted 11 billion times uninstalled it, went through motohelper to clean/reinstall, nothing happens, etc.......ugh
The last thing I can suggest would be to try another Motorola cable. If that doesn't work then it could be a faulty connector on the phone itself.
EDIT: Nevermind, I just went back and saw you already have another Moto cable.

It could actually be you're phone's side. Just try it on another computer and see if you get the same message. If you do it might be the USB port on the phone is faulty...

Hello. adb can't find my device. USB Debugging is enabled and the icon is showing in phone's notification bar.
USB Storage is working well. I tried to reinstall drivers, but it didn't help.
When I enable USB debugging in my phone, in my PC's desktop there pops up a balloon with text:

Before this, there are many other pop-ups, but they show that everything is loading properly.

thats related to driver issue, you should reinstall the drivers and reboot after installation. Else, try installing adb again.

uncheck usb debugging and resatrt ur phn . check usb debugging again and connect it to pc via cable it will install if not just uncheck usb debugging and check try fr sometimes it works.
but the first suggestion works like a charm as it will install drivers sucessfully if done in that order
It can't find my device anyway.
And there still pops-up that balloon with text, in the corner of desktop.
Can't it be a problem with usb cable?

I downloaded this, but it only shows "preparing to install" for a moment, when I double click it, and that's all...
EDIT: Now after many driver's reinstalling attempts, also USB Mass Storage isn't working anymore.
... but LGMobile Support Tool recognizes my device.
EDIT2: Here's a screenshot from Device Manager
http://www.bildites.lv/images/m99dribyo454r03mdz6.png
And when I connect my device to PC via USB, in phone's notification bar isn't showing "USB connected" anymore.
EDIT3 : Rebooted the phone and USB Storage works, adb - still doesn't.
UP!
So, does anyone know, what can be the problem? Is there somebody who had the same issue?

Has it ever connected before or is this the first time you're trying? If it has, what was the status of the phone at that time? Rooted, rom, etc...

It has connected before.
At that time, see signature.
delete the usb driver that pops up in your computer's "device manager" and reinstall it.
Or try a different usb port.
none of that worked, thx though
You can always use Dropbox as a way to drop files in your Dropbox on your computer and then load them from the Dropbox all on your phone.
Did you try Settings/wireless and networks/USB utilities/hit button and follow prompts.

Well if push comes to shove, I'd recommend grabbing Wifi File Transfer Pro from the market. I'll link it below. I never connect my phone anymore via cable to do any type of data transfer. The paid version allows multiple file transfers at once, the free version is one file at a time.
You simply need to be able to pull up a webpage and type in the IP address it generates for ya - easy peasy.

Yes sounds correct.
Go to USB utilities. Hit button. Wait for prompt to plug phone in. (Have the other end of the USB cable plugged in to the computer already) once prompted, plug in phone. Wait a few seconds(sometimes longer). Another prompt should come up asking if you want to connect USB storage.
Sometimes it takes a few tries. And take your time cause it doesn't respond as quick as it should for the final prompt.
Good luck

I would download and install KIES then download drivers for the SGS2 from there. I was having ADB issues this morning and installing KIES alleviated that, so it would most likely fix your USB issues.
Just turn on USB Debugging in settings -> application -> development to use your phone in mass storage mode. Why MTP does not work for you I have no idea, but try to install Kies.
EDIT: Do you have Siyah kernel installed by any chance? Old versions had this problem.

Ok I just tried this. I get the prompt to plug my phone in, do that. I get no prompt after this. I have a button that says Connect storage to PC, when I press it it says USB is Connected, remove the cable. This cycle repeats over and over. Im still getting the unrecognized device on my PC.
Thanks

I have checked threads about this matter on this forum and other fora, and nothing seems to be working:
I have completely uninstalled Kies and its drivers, installed WMP11, updated .NET Framework, then reinstalled Kies, connected using debug mode, then normal mode, made connection troubleshooting and it still didn't work! It's very frustrating!
Thank you.

The possibility is that the samsung drivers you have in the PC is not updated. Download the updated Samsung Drivers online - you can use google to search for it - including KIES. This should solve your problem

Depending on your skills Microsoft's Media Transfer Protocol Porting Kit could help you debugging the problem. Furthermore the error you are experiencing does not seem specific to Samsung devices. Therefor chances are good you get help if you post your problem in one of the many forums run by Microsoft (if you did not already do so). However you will have to do some research to find the right forum, don't ask me please

Yes, looks like.
I do not really understand your question: didn't you try to connect your phone to some other Windows system ? Only then you are able to tell if your problem is related to the phone or the host system or both.
Before debugging with the Media Transfer Protocol Porting Kit you should definitely have done the following things:
use another USB cable
use another USB port (no port on hub)
connect phone to another Windows system

I have done everything you can imagine! I even installed the omap4430 drivers! The only thing I didn't try is black magic! And what's making me suspect what you are saying its that this happened after some windows updates and installs and reinstalls. I will reinstall a clean version anyway and change the hard dusk because it's having troubles. So I guess it's that.
It connects fine with HTC sync, but I can't find my phone in "my computer". What am I doing wrong? I'm running Vista 32bit, btw.
now sync can't even find my phone. I tried all the usb ports on my tower, it's a fresh install of Vista that is up to date, tried reinstalling the sync program, installed some mtp drivers I found on the Microsoft site. USB debugging on and off, nothing works! and it's the stock Rom, just with some mods. ATT phone btw. any suggestions? mtp stinks btw...... I wanna flash some roms darn it!
May I suggest something to you? Uninstall all your current drivers and also remove HTC Sync, then try to follow this step-to-step guide : HERE or a more complete one HERE. If you need help or precision I will be glad to assist you.

you might have to connect directly from usb like the ports in the back of the pc rather then the ones in the front. also try using a different computer and see if it works or not.
well I just about given up. the issue isn't solely with my computer, as it connects just fine with every other usb device in my house, iphone, gs3, digital camera, etc. so up its an issue primarily with my phone or both my pc and phone. I haven't had a chance to try my phone on another computer yet, can't get mtp working on ubuntu. or maybe it does work, and my phones just messed up. maybe something I did, I need to stop messing with system files . BUT I had an epiphany, ADB over WiFi, I found a bunch of apps, they all mention running apps and debugging, but can they be used as a replacement for adb via usb? can I use adb Wi-Fi to push a kernel and or recovery?
Well I made some headway! I FINALLY got my computer to at least recognize my phone. I did this control panel>add hardware and manually installing the drivers that way. SO now in device manager Android phone (sdk drivers) and HTC MTP device, finally show up. I get a code 10 on both those deives, BUT when I scan for hardware the drivers from the phone begin to install, how ever they fail to install. MY brain is beat from this, can some help give me the next little push to finally ending this debacle!?
May I ask if you have administrator privileges on your computer? On Vista this a prerogative, you MUST be an administrator otherwise the installation will fail.
Click on Start -> Control Panel -> Control Panel window opens click on the Uninstall a program (If you are using the Classic View of the Control Panel, then you would double-click on the Programs and Features icon instead.) -> The screen contains a list of the programs installed on your computer, locate everything starting with HTC and uninstall all of them.
Make sure your phone is not plugged in. Reboot your computer.
Download this file containing the Vista 32bit drivers. Put this file on your Desktop.
Plug your phone. Use Device Manager to install the driver.
Click Start, right-click Computer, and then click Properties.
In the Tasks pane, click Device Manager.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue.
In Device Manager, locate the Android USB or MTP Device for which we want to install the driver.
Right-click the device, and then click Update Driver Software.
Click Browse my computer for driver software, click Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer, and then click Have Disk.
In the Install From Disk dialog box, click Browse, locate in the file you just downloaded an androidusb.inf and then click Open.
Follow the steps in the Update Driver Software Device Name dialog box to update the driver.
Reboot your computer.
Lets see the results.
NoobDude i may be beating a dead horse here but Ubuntu 13.04(even in the beta which i use as a daily os) has mtp out of the box maybe try that and install sdk, java , adb fastboot.
if lucky thirteens suggestion doesn't work, I'll try that next. cheers gents!
Lucky thirteens post didn't work at all, when i tried to update the drives I would get an error. Either that the driver wasn't compatible or the the current driver was up to date. I haven't tried updating to Ubuntu 13.4 yet. BUT, I kinda made some headway again. After several reboots and trying different things I get this, what you see in the first picture. SUCCESS!, Oh wai....(refer to second picture)..... When i plug my phone in via a USB (on the back of the computer), i get NOTHING. Sooo. One X+ FOR SALE! :crying:

There is a universal driver from Koushik Dutta (dev of CWM). This worked on my Win8 x64 PC (nothing else would).
At least it shows my device when I type adb devices.
See if that works.
Google for it. I am not sure if I am allowed to attach the file here - hence not attaching. I also have forgotton / not saved the link. It was in his google+ post...
See if that helps
Okk the link was first when I googled .

I have a problem with S9 + (org ROM).
The phone normally charges via a USB cable, while connecting to a computer does not recognize it.
After connecting the USB, the phone only charges and does not send data ....
I tried on 4 cables and 2 different computers .. just the same ... I wonder if any program does not bother USB or maybe something in the options I changed
I checked USB debugging, USB mode (MTM data transfer mode). ... and in spite of everything the problem occurs
Is a damaged USB port? ?
The beam only appears "landing using a cable" << it is not possible to expand the USB connection option
I have uninstalled drivers

Have you updated and configured Bixby? That seems to be needed to connect to the PC. See my reply to the later thread about being unable to connect to PC by USB.
Hope this helps.
how can I config Bixby ? -I can't find your thread
Bixby is the first home screen, it'll ask a bunch of questions to get started.
The thread is USB Device not recognized by Labeled.
My usb port got real flakey. Would not fast charge on cable but would wirelessly. When cable connected to Android Auto was always getting device not recognized error. I took it back to tmobile and warranty exchanged it for another. The new one works great.

The beam only appears "landing using a cable" << it is not possible to expand the USB connection option
I have uninstalled drivers
I installed Kiess and nothing .. I still do not recognize the device
The problem does not seem to be a cable or a connector (it would not charge if USB was released

I have this problem too, but after a while I realised that if I connect to a computer with a USB-C to USB-C cable, the computer would recognise my phone and vice versa. Android auto would work with some cars, the one tested being an 2017 Hyundai Elantra. I'm not sure why this problem occurs though.
