[Q] Warranty repair advice. Whats the latest vodafone uk firmware? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there, Im finally sending my SGS2 back to samsung for a warranty repair, something seriously wrong with the insides, I have flashed a couple roms on there to lose the official BUKE1 rom it came with, but I need to flash it back to latest rom before sending it. Is BUKE1 still the current UK firmware with Voda?
BTW I have a jig, will be resetting the counter before sending!

[Q] How to know if my phone is generic EU or country specific?

Hi guys, unfortunately I got to bring my SGSII back to Samsung for warranty.
I bought it on e-bay and I don't know if it is generic EU or Italian.
Obviously being here means I changed the rom and now I don't know which official rom to flash to get warranty back.
Anyone knows if there's a way through kies or by IMEI?
Thanks,
Best Regards.

Your branded phone provider could in theory refuse warranty .
But you are still covered by Samsung warranty .

Phone wont update through Kies

Hey guys samsung stated ages ago that all UK unlocked phones can receive the ICS 4.0.3 update through Kies, I seem to be the only one who still cannot update through kies message still says your device cannot update through kies, I have rung samsung support and gave them all my detials numbers firmware numbers eventually they told me that it was my computers fault and that my phone should update normally through kies even though i have told them i have tried on 3 different computers, so im now asking you guys as a last resort to help, before you guys ask i do have the latest version of kies my phone is NOT rooted has stock firmware never been flashed with a third party here is my phones details,
PDA: I9100XWKH1
CSC: I9100XEUKH1
Phone Baseband: I9100XXKG5
Firmware: 2.3.4
Kernel Version: [email protected] #2
Just update your phone through this website. Use my guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1625184

Chris i think you missunderstood my problem, i do not want to install a custom rom or root my phone i was asking here why my phone cant update through kies when my Code XEU is listed as Official ICS Update,
Ignore his root your phone post Updates do not require root as it would void warranty .
Kies updates your firmware when the phone provider has updated it .
You can use CHECKFUS to check on the server and download directly .
Alternative is to flash stock Samsung roms from XDA posted in General and also in stock rom thread .
Stock Roms .and csc

Stock = Samsung other sort is Branded Provider firmware .
i tried checkFUS but no clue what region i should be selecting for my phone
Do you not know where you live ???

Flashing stock or branded provider roms does not invalidate your warranty .

Try your service provider...
Hi,
I´m in Spain and using Orange. The last time I was able to upgrade my stock ROM, the change came from Orange because they customize it (basically to lock you into using their system). If you choose to stay with a stock ROM, then your service provider may have to supply it and they are a little bit slower than Samsung because they have to add their changes. They usually add quite a bit of "Bloatware" to justify their modifications.
So I rooted my phone and am now using custom ROMs - Resurrection Remix 1.1 and am really glad to be rid of the Orange system. I also unlocked my phone so that I could use SIMs from other countries. Hopefully this will prove helpful....
Hi, quijote1, my phone is unlocked and unbranded so i am not tied with any network in the uk or have any bloatware as far as i know it is a standard rom,
Hey ZacQ8, As i previously stated in my OP my CSC is XEU, witch has been rolled out by samsung through kies that's why i have made this post in the first place.
could my problem be my firmware version? and is flashing with odin my only way now of getting ICS for my phone?
hey guys any idea';s?

You are making an assumption that ICS is available for your actual phone . That may be wrong .
You can use CHECKFUS to actually see if the ICS for your phone is on the Kies server .
Alternatives take the phone to the vendor/Samsung service for an update .
Join XDA Developers forum and flash stock Samsung roms on the day they are released .
You have no other routes except to ask Samsung /your phones vendor why you have no update .

Hi there i got my fone 5 days ago and as soon as i got it i checked to see if there was any software updates thru check for updates and there was ics any so i don't understand how urs ent come yet i dent do it thru kies

may i know malaysian s2g can update to ics??
still confused myself as XEU is released so ICS should be avalible through my phone and i dont wanna flash samsung roms myself just incase i brick/invalid my warrenty, i guess the only way is to take it to a samsung repair shop but dosent that mean i have to pay for the update when others get it for free?, just frustrating, is there anyone here who can sugest the correct ICS rom for the Code XEU?
update: ive found my product code and there is a ICS firmware on checkfus do i download it is it the right one? and if so why dosent kies see my phone as a possible update?

UP to you your choice .
it is it the right one?
Who knows you put the codes in correct then presume so if not its easy to tell once flashed .
and if so why dosent kies see my phone as a possible update?
You need a clairvoyant or try asking Samsung .
Personally in your shoes i would stick with what you have and not bother updating .
Because the next post you make is probably how do i restore to GB .

[Q] How to retrieve warranty of samsung galaxy pro before giving for service

I have got a samsung galaxy pro(b7510) mobile which had android 2.2 (froyo, Indian Version) as the default os. It still got 7 months warranty left. I recently flashed the Singapore gingerbread version into it using ODIN v1.0.4 flasher. Samsung didn't release the official Indian gingerbread version and discontinued the mobile production before that, this made me to use ODIN. I even rooted the newly installed gingerbread version and unrooted it. My question is: if i want to give my mobile for any sort of repair works in samsung service center, will flashing the mobile with stock firmware from sammobile.com help me to retrieve the warranty back? I read about the flash counter, is there any such thing in Samsung galaxy pro(b7510). This is not any operator locked kind of mobile. I can use any sim in it. Kindly guide me about what all things i should take care of before giving the mobile for repair without damaging the warranty. Thanks in advance.
Technically by rooting or flashing a custom ROM you have voided your warranty but by restoring it back to stock ROM they shouldn't notice that anything has been modified assuming you are using the correct ROM for your country / mobile provider and device and it's been unrooted.

If you are sending back then the original rom is the norm .

I want send s3 international ( hissing problem). And warranty do -mttc. lt ( everything in lithuanina language).
And what you mean with ''original rom is the norm''?
Original is the norm means the firmware that came with the phone .
You buy a UK phone and it comes with UK firmware that is what goes back on for return to vendor under warranty in the UK .
In your case you have a phone supplied from another country possibly a grey import .
The supplier of the phone is the one to ask what firmware do they want on for a warranty repair .I would put back the firmware it came with .

Also i heard rumors that some people sends phones with custom roms and they fix phones, but they come back with stock rom, is it possible?
custom roms and they fix phones, but they come back with stock rom, is it possible?
If you are paying for a repair then custom rom should make no difference .
Warranty will be rejected with a custom rom see how to return to stock for warranty thread .
