[Q] Reboot Sound!!! - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all! I have a stock firmware and the ninphetamine 2.05 kernel and i don t know why when i reboot i hear some strange sound like "tic tic tic" but only when i reboot if i power off the phone is ok...
can anybody answer?

Same noise, same kernel, different ROM (Revolution).
I assume therefore it's kernel-related, but since it doesn't bother me, haven't researched further.

If it's what I have then it's the camera lens. Turn the camera app on and it will do the same thing. It's basically a self-test the camera performs, and absolutely nothing to worry about.

Yup, that's it.

Actually, it is. Some kernels do it and some don't.

Note to self - stop asuming, idiot...

i started the camera app and i heard nothing... so? still no answer...

any ideeas? pls:-/ i m such a perfectionist

I've told you what it is. Just because it doesn't do it in the camera app doesn't mean it's not the camera.
Turn your phone off and put the camera lens next to your ear when you turn it back on. You'll see that it's the camera.

@ johncmolyneux thx but u don t have to be so grumpy

[Q]:Can't use camera while on a phone call?

I tried to use the camera while on a phone call and the phone says I can't do it. Does anyone know a way around this or how to fix this?
anybody know?
Same if your battery is low. Not sure how to do a work-around, but I would imagine Cyanogens Rom would take care of it.
Curious.... pics while on the phone?

thats what fring calling is for...
but yeah this is only the 2nd instance i have heard of this needed/wanted if there were more demand for this than it might come native... does the HTC/MOTO phones allow this? I have never tried before...
Oh yeah I was on a phone call the other day and wanted to show my friend something while still on the phone. I think this would be useful.
have you tried a 3rd party app out of the market? Its worth a shot...

Actually this came about because my buddies at work here all have Androids and we harass the pi$$ out of iphone users. Well one of the damn iphone guys found that their iphone can take pictures while connected on a call, and android can't.
I do actually see the usefulness of needing this though.

Haha, yes, we do need this function working!
I cant believe this was left out of Android I have been able to do this with every phone I have had for the last 3 years. Both my HD 2 and Moto Q9h bot can do this.

I have a Moto Cliq and I'm able to use my camera and record video while in a phone call, but I cant remeber if I was able to before I rooted my phone so it might be a SU or a ROM ability.

The Cliq allowed you to do it before rooting or anything.
That's one of the big issues I have with the Vibrant

Problem with the camera?

I have a problem with the camera, meaning that as soon as I open the application I hear a noise (two shots) and if I look at the camera in the meantime, I see that the sensor moves. What can I do?
I have a Litening 1.2!
Thanks

I dont think that is a Problem had that clicking to on other phones its the lens that focuses, clicking 2 times when you aktivate the camera and when you switch
to Video mode,
The problem with the Cam for me is the real bad Focus, its almost imposible to scan barcodes etc. with google googles , etc..
im on newst Cam Firmware !
got 2 with this camera noise and 3 without.
no clue if it's okay ? why different... other lenses ?

Did you update through Samsung apps on your phone?
If not, you might have installed a wrong version that doesn't match up with the cam hardware in your phone.
I'm not sure if this a valid reason, but there are some different cams out there which need different firmware versions

this is mostly because there are at least 3 different cam manufacturers, you can see this clearly because of their different firmware versions (which is of course vendor specific)!

ya, that clicking is part of your problem, it is sitting to far out and can't go back. It shouldn't smack the housing and make clicking noises. I have this issue to, might send it it to be fixed or wait for replacement parts to become available.
Same problem but worst
Me and a buddy of mine both bought the 9100 together of the same shlef. Mine does the clicking sound and his doesn't. But my problem is worst here because it seems that no photo outside of 20cm range comes out in focus.
I am just unable to take a decent photo of anything further than this.
Could a FW fix solve this? how do i know what is my cam mode is? and which FW belongs to it?
LT
I also have issue with the camera: the auto focus is not working at all.
I can't tell if it's after flashing litening 1.2 or if it has always been the case...
I have applyed the samsung camera firmware upgrade.
hmmm...i think when designgears says the clickcklick sound of the camera is a defect, then it is one
i can't really belive in this vendor specific camera moduls for a noise reason... that whould be just to much quaility difference if samsung is doing that ?!

I and 4 of my friends have the phone One with litening Rom1.2 the others all have stock one of them made yesterday the firmware update the other 2 not
and we all have the clicking sound !!
can it be that so many devices have this defective cam,
and non of us coud get a good focus on close distances 10 - 15 cm
I just caled samsung support Austria and they sayd the clicking is normal !
I also have the clicking from the beginning and i havent experienced any Problems. Neither with Barcodes nor with photos. But to be sure someone should test the exact same scenes with 2 devices and post the results.
I dont really remember but i think the clicking just started after the Camera Firmware Update.
I have clicking with camera360 app and no clicking with standard camera .....
Focusses perfect down to 10 cm even when then going to max zoom

how can i test if it is focusing good ? which mode and settings ? thx
Clicking sound; no problems.
It looks like the clicking is a symptom
It looks like the clicking is a symptom, and what I think it means is that the lens is not sitting in its right position.
I assume that the further the lens sits from its intended position, the worst the focus will be.
All in all, if the lens sits pretty close to its intended position then the photos will come out good even though you hear clicking.
On the other hand, other people might be less lucky and the lens position will be totally off and so will not be able to take decent photos at all...
This is of course my theorem, not my knowledgeable absolute...
It's funny how the clicking of the camera is ALWAYS an issue with every new phone for some people. Many phones have it (not only the SGS2) and it's normal. Some people might have problems with the camera and the focus, but it has nothing to do with the clicking sound. It's just the camera's initialization.

Ok camera kind of help:)

So i tried some searches but i have failed who knows maybe fail search word keys but anyway wat i want to ask started from me with my friend trying to get a picture of a jump at night which became quite IMPOSSIBLE only blurness Which i dislike about my phone with its awesomeness not having burst picture or undersports dunno the word in english setting/option, so was wondering anyway to fix those or any application for this thing i tried fxcamera but i understood its for a different purpose:|thx a bunch in advance(more on thnaks button;p)
lol we Greeks and our dictionary(awesomeness) xD Yeah yeah, we got one of the finest phones, my friend.
As for your camera problem, did you zoom in? Was flash on? Maybe you should hit the "Outdoor visibility" in camera's settings. =)

hehe c'mon u like it<<awesomeness>>;however yes i did those the main problem was it was on the move picture which wihtout burst image mode don't think is gonna do any good, you know it had to catch me in the air:\ So i was a blur think moving;P
Hmmm, I can't see why would it blur while you're in the air. Maybe it didn't auto-focus correctly? Otherwise, retake the photograph by adjusting the settings or use Photoshop.

[Q] Camera Click?

I recently replaced my broken dev edition (camera was broken- it rattled whenever the phone vibrated) with a T-Mobile edition. I am on complete stock and have not yet unlocked the bootloader. Ive noticed that the camera clicks whenever I launch an app that uses it. Sometimes its a very soft click, and other times its a extremely loud clock, kind of like a snapping noise. I did not see this issue on my dev edition, so I am not entirely sure whether it should be there and because my camera was broken before I didnt hear it, or if I got another faulty device. Does anyone else hear/notice this on their device? Is it maybe fixed in later firmware versions, and only and issue on 1.27.x roms? Thanks in advance.
I believe this is normal it happens to me too on both of my H1's and also my old sensation. It's like the camera sensor is adjusting once some app gains access to it

Alright cool thanks! I was just unsure since my first one didnt have it, but that camera was broken. Wanted to be sure before I unlocked and started flashing, in case I need to replace it again, which would have made me very unhappy.

Mine is very quiet all the time though. I'd say don't worry, but I'm not sure why yours might be inconsistent in the volume?
Interesting. Mine consistently varies in volume.

Hi!
My camera does make the a sound every time I open an camera app, too. However, stock camera app doesn't make the sound as loud, and sometimes there's no click sound when opening stock camera app. Every time I open LineCamera, though, the camera makes a very noticeable click sound.
It's the OIS

Ok guys. I am noticing that when the device vibrates when I am getting a call I can hear the camera rattling on this device as well. It does not rattle all the time like the previous one did. Does anyone else notice this? I can both see and hear the camera rattle.

All of my phones do that when the camera is turned on. (DX, S4, Nexus 4, HTC one, Old Desire)
It's interesting as an app a friend made "didn't use the camera" but I could hear that destinctive 'tick' noise! Shady!

If you shake the old Desire (bravo) you can hear that noise, it is a moving part afaik in the camera hardware. My old one always did it and I never had an issue. It's how you know the camera is actually activating. I wouldn't imagine it is an issue, and as I said nearly all my android devices do the same thing! I wouldn't worry.

I believe that is actually the camera sensor autofocusing, you can actually see it. Open the camera app, turn the phone and take a good look at the camera, you can see it basically "jumping".
