Hello I just got the Samsung Galaxy S2 from bell and I was wondering if there is a step by step guide out for rooting and unlocking the Sim so I can use this on Rogers?
1) Root the phone using CFROOT/ you will have to flash a custom "rooted kernel" , search for CFroot and thats how you root. Beware that once u flash the rooted kernel theres no way to go back to the bell kernel
2) install galaxy s unlock by helroz from the market, it works perfect and will unlock the phone for free.
3) profit???

I've seen one guy on craigslist trying to profit $100 from an unlocked phone... good luck with that heh.
Thanks for the help no I'm not looking for profit I was using a blackberry for years but decided to try android so I looked around for a great android phone and this is the one I decided to get but I'm on Rogers so I needed to unlock it so I can use it.
samsung unlock no key found
Heya guys! I did root the phone and used tha
t app from market but the message is " no key found". Any advice pls?
You probably used Galaxy S2 unlock. That one doesn't work. Use Galaxy S unlock. It'll crash the phone at step 2 but you'll restart into an unlocked phone.
Try this app:

I purchased the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 4G from Bell yesterday. As well, yesterday I bricked it. I blame myself for not reading enough on the device. I assumed the wifi root process was the same.
Today I got it replaced. I noticed that the model number for the Bell version of the Tab 10.1 is GT-P7500M.
Can anyone confirm which method I should use to root this device? And hopefully get CWM working as well.
I have searched the forum, and google to find an answer specific for Bell, but with no success.
Thanks

Bassboy_pete. I just got a Bell 4G GT 10.1 also. Did you ever figure out how to root the GT-P7500M?
Could you let me know i've been looking everywhere for this info and all google brings up are your posts.
i have the same model. rooted. Bell is no different.
Google [root galaxy 10.1] and you should find how. Very easy.
I've followed read this entire thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1171089 and read the 30+ pages somewhere in there someone who had a rogers 4G model said the 3G method worked. I also read somewhere else on XDA that a guy with the Bell GT-P7500M tried the 4G method and made the device a paper weight. I also really want to backup this device before a mess with anything but as far as all my research i am doing CWR is the way to back it up.
yours or anyone help is appreciated. Not looking for a handout on what to do step by step just a push in the right direction. I won this device and want to keep using it but some things piss me off about the Bell version (really must GPS Nav have to stay on the device) also can't just return it to bell if i brick it since i won it and don't have a reciept.
UPDATE, Just did the CWM Recovery. Worked great. Just finished a backup. I'll try the 3G root as mentioned in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312538 then i'll update again.
Not bad for my first Droid Device just got it 3 days ago.
UPDATE: Used the 3G method for GTP97500M (Bell Mobility) works great.
also plunged in thinking I had read enough and not fully understanding all the variants, so ended up following some of the root instructions posted on xda which did not work.
Solution was this thread for Team Overcome
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275751
which has a stock restore, the correct odin and bootloader files and then both the Overcome Rom and a CWM zip.
All installed nicely, system rooted and custom rom installed.
I am on Rogers with the Tab 10.1 and my Galaxy S is on Bell.
I then flashed the OC kernel from doridbasement which also works fine -- just catch which version you are on
anyways, early days but these did work, others did not for me
Hi,
I would like to unlock my i9070p so as to use it with another operator's simcard.
My phone is locked on ORANGE.
I heard about a method with root, busy box and galaxy s unlock on the android market but i don't know if il will work on the Samsung galaxy s advance (i9070).
Can anyone help me?
Well it's a shame this phone don't own a proper section here at xda, but i can ease your curiosity. All apps that used to work on other galaxy models WILL NOT work on galaxy s advance. I tried them all and so far, there is no known application or method to do so without paying....
Perhaps some older members from this forum can be kind enough to explain potential ways to do so. Till then, we just have to wait...
did you manage to unlock your i9070?
how did you do it? I'am interested to, in unlocking it.
Hey guys! 404 here!
I have some questions that I would like answered because I'm pretty weary on the idea of rooting. I understand that there is so many benefits of rooting a phone but these questions may seem strange but I guess I was taught to ask before I do.
If I were to root my phone on one carrier on the Galaxy S2 that I have currently with one company still in a plan, would I be able to insert another carriers SIM card whilst the phone has been rooted simply because what I thought is that the phone would be locked to that sim that was is in the phone being rooted.. Also, I forgot to mention. Would there be any other hazards such as that if I root the phone?
If I am able to root the phone and insert any SIM card into the phone at a later stage, could anyone provide me with a tutorial on how to root and unroot the Galaxy S2.
Thanks.

1. Rooting and unlocking are different things. But yeah you can unlock your device after you root it.
2. There are lots of tutorials on how to safely root.
3. It's really easy to unroot. You go to www.sammobile.com, download the firmware you want and flash through Odin.
4. Any other questions don't hesitate to ask.

anyone know?
thanks
i have recently bought a Samsung Galaxy Note I717m running android 4.1.2
i have looked everywhere trying to find a way to root it but i can't find a thread or site (via google) that would explain to me exactly what i need to do to root my Note specifically. I am a beginner at rooting but i have rooted my samsung galaxy s3 (only because the rooting sites were abundant and very easy to understand)
All i need is to know if there is a way to root such an old phone running the latest software, and if there is i need to know how.
thank you
Get latest twrp .tar from og dev section to use with Odin.
Uncheck auto reboot in Odin, flash recovery, and since you have the Canadian version there is an extra step as there is a script in place to overwrite a custom recovery if you boot directly into the os,
So, right after the Odin flash, button combo into recovery and factory reset, then boot into android.
Now reboot into recovery and when you go to boot again from there it should see that you're not rooted and ask if you'd like to do so.
Thank you for your quick reply!
I however dont know what you mean by twrp.tar and where i can find it
I would need links to sites and a guideline if possible because when i rooted my s3 it was one step after the other i didn't really understand all of it and it was a long time ago
Thanks again, hope I'm not asking for too much here I'm new to this forum
Its in the development section for the i717. Go to TRWP recovery. Click the link to the site and MAKE SURE ITS FOR THE I717. Download and do what stud said.
