Its true 3g with wifi tethering consumes more battery than the what charger can charge the battery. So eventually battery will die and phone also gets really hot.
Tip: Remove the battery while charger plugged in. Phone wont restart but will be in power online mode.

Hey I tried removing battery but phone just try to rebooot and doesn't boot up.
I'm using void final and fk19.2
the last two days, the battery is getting charged even when 3g wifi tethering, no idea wat is going on Oo,
maybe franco kernel?
Personally when I need to charge and wifi tethering I take the protective casing and the back casing off the optimus and put it facedown in shaded space. It let the battery breathe and cool off. Will try the charger + no battery. It still charge it while plugged for me, also.

Hey guys,
I've just started having a problem with my MyTouch 4G in which it won't charge while the phone is switched on. The battery charging symbol displays but the battery % slowly decreases. I have tried using a different battery but no luck. If I go into "battery usage" in settings it says that Wifi & Cellular Idle are the 2 biggest users with 29% each. The strange thing is that these 2 are always using 29% even if I turn Wifi off and put the phone on flight mode. Another user had a similar problem and it turned out to be an app using buttloads of power but I can't identify any on mine doing this. I've done a virus scan. Any ideas?
Thanks
Do you charge by the computer or the power socket

Both. I've just done a factory reset & installed ICS to see if that made a change. I've got it plugged into the PC at work now and its finally gone up 1% in about 15 minutes. Seems a little slow and I have a feeling it would discharge pretty quickly if I started using it while plugged in. I'll wait and see what happens.
Maybe you should stop checking every 5 seconds and just wait

Where you able to fix it???
I have a Note II from At&T WITHT HE SAME ISSUE!!! :/
help!!!
Hi guys,
My phone is on UAE official
Just updated from ics to jb using kies and the charging is taking forever like 7% per hour
While on charge if im using the phone it actually is decreasing the battery instead of charging.
Checked using the current app the charger is supplying 1amp tried various cables and chargers etc and same
Would I need to factory reset or wipe cache after an official update.
By the way on ics charge time is perfect so not hardware fault.
Any reply would be great
Cheers

Been said in several other threads that this can happen if the phone wasn't on 100% when upgraded - maybe it removes battery stats. Apparently after the first full slow painful charge its reverts back to normal. I guess its trickle charging so not to damage the battery. Say battery was 50% when updated - it thinks this is full charge - once you do actually fully charge it the phone then re-learns the actual full battery in stats and is ok.
Not sure if this is 100% or not though, i made sure i was fully charged when i updated last night.
All you can do is try and see if its back to normal after a long lengthy first full recharge
Yes that could be the case due to updating at around 85 percent.
Thanks for the great info
What explains the charge decreasing while on charge on use ??
Anyone ??

Ok so I changed the original charger that has the usb input with the extension cable. This is the 1amp charger the red led looked dim using this on JB rom
Now I used the 500ma output direct wall charger with no usb input all in one charger and the red led is full bright like ICS rom and now charging while using phone and charge rates are back to normal
anyone know how to fix usb charger thinking its not AC more like charging from pc usb ??
Cheers

I don't know what really is happening but my phone started to charge reeeeeallly slow in the last two days. ( I got JB over the air a few days back).
It's for example charging right now and as soon as I start to use it while charging, the battery percentage goes DOWN.
I never had this before. On ICS I was able to easily get through 2 days (I mostly have power saving feature on, since everything works great even in power save mode).
What the hell is happening here.

I used to have this problem, too. I fixed it by turning my phone off and letting it charge to 100%. After that, it would charge and discharge as expected again.
I have the same problem,
But I have a temporally solution , I charging my mobile with my old charger for galaxy s2 ( which is direct to wall ) , it will charge fast as ICS rom before ( 1-100% 2:20 mnts)
I think there is a problem in JB rom, the mobile thinking the original charger (with extension USB cable) it is charging from computer ... so it is really really slow , plus it is not charging after 90%
any how .. the mobile charging well when it is off.!!!
This my experience
Yes like you im using direct charger 500mA and its charging while I use phone and I get full charge from 10% to 100% in about 2 hrs and 50 mins
For a second I thought I was the only one with this issue turns out many of you guys noticed this problem aswell
thanks for the all the input

So, I was on my phone non-stop last night and ran the battery down to 2%. I put it on my car mount charger (Sprint I-bolt), where I found it not to charge. Got home and no charge on all my chargers. Frustrated, I assumed my charge port broke. I went back out to my car and tried my best to get a good connection, and what do yah know, a blue light and orange light on my phone. So, I let it charge overnight in my car and brought it inside in the morning. I tried it on my charger, and it charges fine. So, I called my buddy whom is a Sprint tech., and he said sometimes the battery gets so low, they have to pull the battery and put it on a machine to boost the battery.
So, did I let my batt get too low, or do I have a bad charging port?

I've let my battery die down multiple times and I haven't had a problem charging yet. Just letting you know.

Yeah, I could have sworn that I've done this before and had no issues getting it to charge. I don't know what to say, it's working flawless right now.

Are you also using a different cable?
Try to change your cable instead of your charger and battery happened to me before and it was USB cable.
Okay.. well my battery was never the greatest. I mean it lasted a good amount of time when I was not doing anything on it. While using it, it didn't die too too quickly. It charged just fine. Didn't take too long to charge up....
Well now.. when I plug the charger in, the symbol comes up to show it is charging. But it takes forever now to charge. If it's at like 75% it takes hours for it to charge to 100%. Never used to do that. & when I have it charging and I'm doing stuff on my phone... the battery percentage goes down... very slowly.. but it goes down.
So I dunno if it's the battery or the charger. Cuz the charger does work just extremely slow now and doesn't seem to charge up while plugged in & being used. If I keep it plugged in and do nothing on it. It charges... just extremely slow now.
Anyone else have an issue like this?? What Do You Guys Think It May be??
Please help.. thank u

stock charger and cable?
Are you using the stock charger and cable? Have you had to replace either recently? The stock charger will do 1900 mAh with the stock cable. Any other combo I've personally only gotten about 1200 mAh at any given time. Get the app Galaxy Charging Current *lite* and see what you are actually charging at. Could give you an indicator of what is wrong.
