Evil Fascinate - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Running 3.6..super smooth, no issues> Anyone know if there are any plans for future updates, versions, themes?
Most everything has switched to a gingerbread ROM, but they are still a little unstable and EF really does a decent job.
Thanks

[Q] (HTC Droid Eris) Most stable ROM in your opinion

I am currently running kaosfroyo-v36, and its pretty good. I am fairly new to rooting my droid, ive only tried out 2 roms so far and both were fairly good. I understand how rooting works, not quite sure if i get how the kernel works or how to add it to my phone. To get back to my question, What rom do you feel is the most stable rom out thats still speedy?
Thanks!
stability id go with froshedyo
and for speed id go with Dual rom
Thanks for your your input!
IMHO, xtrSENSE and xtrROM are the most stable ROMs out there that I've tried. Everything just works, of course, they're 2.1-based so it doesn't include Froyo features or CM-specific enhancements to Froyo.
I wish I could have the best of both worlds. No offense to anyone. I'm currently using CELBFroyo.
I would definitely go with CELB =) Fast, Stable.
FroShedYo is working Very good for me, upped to version 8. It has decent speed, a great built in CPU monitor and all the goodness of Cyanogen. It is very stable, no crashes in the month or so I have stuck with it. Typical dropped call that isn't really dropped, but it picks back up and does a good job.
I agree on xtrROM. It's super fast and extremely stable. Of course, it's 2.1. I'm on CELBFroyo, and after a week there haven't been any hiccups. It's got nice speed and CPUBoost is a nice addition.
I've also used NonSenSIKal which is pretty solid.
for the most part, its really personal preference. Give some ROMs a test run and see how they work out for you. I've always been switching up ROMs, but I've stuck with CELBfroyo for about a month now, and its running very well for me.
p.s. dont forget to nandroid before you start flashing
Can't tell you why but I've tried quite a few including FroShedYo and CELB but Floyo Tazz has been the fastest/smoothest for me.
Tazz Froyo
I have tried alot of Roms and Tazz Froyo has been my favorite, it has conaps new kernel which helps with battery life and lagging on the phone, built in cpu governors( no need for SetCPU) Gingerbread keyboard, which is very responsive and has a excellent predictive text function, MIUI music which is a updated stock music app, you can make phone calls and send texts from the lockscreen, no complaints at all with the ROM.

Nonsensikal is my daily ROM but I have used froshedyo's V6 through V8 as an alt from time to time because it is easy to theme. Both are very stable solid ROMs you'll be happy with either one.
Thanks to everyone who replied! I am now using froshedyo v8 and its pretty quick and i like the fact that it has cayanogen with it.Very cusomizable and fairly quick! Once again thanks to all posters!

Woo Hoo!
workshed, your rom rocks! igot a couple questions about modifying some things.. Themes, icons, wallpaper, fonts, boot image, etc. Where should i post?
Workshed can correct me if I'm wrong but his Rom is very similar to tazzs roms, with floyo being a port from a hero Rom and tazz froyo being allot like sheds Rom. All eris' are different so run what your phone likes the most. Mine likes tazz froyo more than floyo and I haven't had the time to try sheds Rom but I know he did a great job on it.

I concur ... i tried a couple others before i settled on CELB ... fast, stable, efficient, plays well with other custom apps... also cleared up space.

My vote is for CELB, i've used EE and sensable and i have found CELB to be the fastest and most bug free. If i've ever had a problem conap has either already commented about it in his thread or he or someone else direct me to the solution. Not knocking anyone else, just my personal experience.
I'm a big fan of KaosFroyo.. I do always flash the latest CFS kernel over it though. I have tried 4 or 5 other roms as well, but always come back to kaos
i've ran evil eris 3.0 for a really long time. i loved that rom and now i've been on v37 for the past couple months. v37 of kaosfroyo rom but starting to get bored of it and want more speed. maybe i'll just end up getting a new phone soon.

[q] you fav 2.2.1 rom

Would like to know your fave 2.2.1 rom. what neat option does it have that others may not like call recording etc.
second what is it lacking or does it have an annoying but like mms only working if you have your phone numbers in a specific pattern.
Thanks for you opinions and keep on flashing ps this is not a comparison its just what you like and why you like it want to know what others are using and what problems they have with the roms they love
I want to know which one is good too coz there is suddenly tons of new 2.2.1 rom
I can't say enough about (Port)(Rom)(Froyo JS7 2.2.1)Simply Galaxy/Sweet Honey 2.5 (Updated 3/10/11) it has been the one and only ROM that I have stuck with for longer than 2 days. I absolutely love it's quickness, stability, battery life, etc....
it's a keep until 2.3.3 is completely stable and everything works.
I'm running Dead Horse + Darky's 9.3 and my phone just flies.
im going to flash darky or sweet honey tonight i wonder which one will have the least bugs or small inconviences
Running Bionix Frost with Dragon Kernel v5, and everything works great on my phone, even gps. There is very minor menu lag, but everything else is fast. It'll only keep getting better, too.
I'll probably stick here until a fully functional and stable 2.3 is released.

Why Gingerbread?

Can someone tell me where all the hype is about gingerbread besides having a tbolt n showing people that you have sw version 2.3? I just don't get it. Yeah sure it looks cool, but as we all know other Roms like BAMF (Sense or not) is just way sicker/snappier and more reliable. Sure all these GB Roms are in their early stages, but like I said, their more basic and the only true benefit I've been reading that people seem to be really concerned about is Netflix working. Obviously everyone has an opinion (like I'm expressing mine) just curious why GB has soooo much hype. Personally, with running BAMF 1.2 with Adryns 4.4.7 amongst other performance tweeks (I/O scheduler sertings, CPU settings without SetCpu etc...) My tbolt couldn't be more sick. So freaking snappy, great battery life, look n feel is so nasty that I just don't get the GB Hype... If netflix gets on this bad boy, I'd be more than set. Like I said. All personal opinion, but some good pointers/insight might help me understand. Until then, I'm more than content with my ridiculous fast more than stable Tbolt. Even if it doesn't "say 2.3.*..."

I admire your will power, for me I guess it was just wanting to try the newest thing and Sense 2.1. However i flashed the gingeritis III rom and it soft bricked my phone, would go to boot screen and at the end it would say Enjoy your HTC Thunderbolt and never get past that. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the ROM because according to the thread several people have this working just fine on their phone. I did follow the instructions to the letter but it didn't work, luckily I was able to restore my latest backup back to Das Bamf 1.6.3 remix.......WHEW!
I had a few Gingerbread ROMs on my OG Droid and I hated them. The ROMs were well developed and mature by the time I replaced the phone, but 2.3 in general was just super buggy and annoying. Stability, speed and battery life were a mess compared to the 2.2 ROMs on that phone. I don't know how much different it is on the T-Bolt as I haven't rooted mine yet, but from my experience, Gingerbread is stale right now. Too many problems to be worth the relatively minor upgrades.
You can't judge GB based on the roms made from this leak. The people using it now are either trying to help devs, curious, or just interested in the newest thing. Once GB got figured out for my D1 it drastically improved performance and battery life, as well as offered new features.
This leak is an alpha type of product, and there will be releases that are much more finely tuned and smooth. GB has many "unseen" improvements like JIT, as well as cosmetic and functional changes. Once some good stable releases of GB come out, it will be much more appealing. I do agree about the current Froyo roms being VERY good though. The BAMF roms and lean kernel have this thing working at near perfection...so I will be waiting for the "clean" GB roms to come out for my next daily driver.

Help me choose a ROM

Hey guys,
I've tried CM7, Revolutions and Asgard for GB Roms and for me and my 10 hour work days, I need something that'll last a little more and will respond better. My experience with the three roms were not the best, but promising. It didn't dissuade me from GB roms, but rather excited me. I just am gonna have to wait until they're 100% smooth haha.
Anyway, I've only ever really used 2.2 Roms and the only ones I've ever loaded was Axura, Nero/Bionix, and Trigger (and flagship, but I don't count that because it was for a day). I'm wanting something different and I think I've decided on these, but if you guys recommend something different please let me know.
Anyway, I would love to hear your opinions and I appreciate the time you guys are taking to respond.
Respectfully,
Vahdyx
I like Bi-Winning and most other 2.2.1 ROMs just because my phone seems to do really well with them. But to be honest, everyone is going to have something different to say. My best advice is just pick one and give it a try for a few days and see how you like it. If you don't like it (or even if you do!) try another, and see which you like better...
Well, for GB I'm currently using Revolution RC1.
It's pretty neat.
Just one thing, when he uploads something, wait for everyone else to try it.
It seems like the roms always work on his phone and everyone else's just bootloops.
The current version is very stable and fast though.
For 2.2, dunno if you've tried Boinix NextGen v2.
That one was one of the best ROMS I've ever tried.
Not a single error anywhere and the battery was awesome.
for the 2.21 roms try Biwinning or V if you want to try a good GB rom try the Asgard Rom it is excellent
Hey vahdyx,
I'm a big fan of vanilla ROMs. If you're going to stick with 2.2 for now, I can tell you that http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054032 is great. There are little bugs though, such as the dialer crashing frequently when editing contact info.
If you want a vanilla ROM with GPS and Swype preinstalled, there is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=832532, but I haven't tried this one.
If you do end up using a 2.2 or 2.2.1 ROM, I highly suggest using the Bali kernel found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1043947. This kernel optimizes battery life so that your phone will have an easier time making it through your workday, but is definitely not for you if you're an overclocker.
From what I've heard, if you are currently at 2.3, if you want to go back to Froyo, I *believe* that you have to ODIN back to stock first. http://androidspin.com/2010/08/09/how-to-restore-or-recover-your-samsung-vibrant/. Youtube is useful if you don't know how to do this.
Hope this helps!
I suggest sgs hybrid it runs really great its a 2.3 JVP rom and it has great speed and battery

Newest top-tier of ROMs?

i've been running bionix-v for close to a year now and since then have been out of the loop. what's the consensus top tier of roms currently, and should i update to a newer android (ICS? idk) since i am on a VERY old version (on android 2.2!)
I like cm7 nightly. Works well, gps works for me, battery is okay. Get around twenty hours. I get random battery drains though when I'm using meebo or
something
I've flash so many roms and fell in love with miui for a long time
I'm so sick of all the aggravations of things working and not working blah blah.....I just went back to bionix myself 2 days ago and I now have a new found love for everything working as it should
But everyone should play around and enjoy the differences.

i found bionix not very snappy, and im stuck on froyo. surely the gingerbread/ics offers some better upgrades?
MIUI (based on 2.3.7 gingerbread), without a doubt. And to make your life easier here's a link to my guide that will take you through all the steps on getting your phone to run the custom firmware. MIUI is easily customizable, smooth, and stable. Then when you add the Glitch kernel to the mix you get a truly amazing result (Increased speed + Amazing Battery). I used to use Bionix and it was great, but MIUI offers so much more.
The pace at which the ICS ROMs are improving is pretty awesome, and definitely something to get excited about. I never really bothered with Gingerbread, everytime I tried a 2.3 ROM I ended up going back to 2.2 within a week. Currently trying the I9000 ICS port, but my fallback is usually Toxic Crazy8 with a GB theme slapped on.
2.3 has worse battery life than 2.2. The ICS roms are coming along nicely, but not really a daily yet (in my opinion). I would try out Team Toxics JCCs D9. its on rc2 and the final should be up today or tomorrow. It has great battery and is very snappy. link below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1360502
There is an ICS port in the making. The creator being neobuddy89. However it is in the beta stages and not something you'd want to use as a daily rom. Still you should check it out, it looks really nice and is very smooth. I'll post a link in a few...

I agree with you...its not very snappy at all...was startung to really miss miui lol until i found crazy 8 and i am loving it....hoping its the one for me lol...otherwise ill be back to miui
Bionix wasn't the snappiest, but I found that the NextGen V2 had the same theming and was much smoother. From my experience it had some stuttering issues from a lack of RAM though.
I'm interested in trying the new Phiremod as well though, I like the theming on it.

Just took a look at it and it looks really nice. Thinking I might go and give it a whirl later this week.
