[Q] About Basebands and Firmwares Xperia X10 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello people, i created this post because i have some questions that are not answered searching on internet...
i need to know about basebands first:
I own a Xperia X10a. and i see that mostly ROMs are made with X10i firmwares. i read once here in a post that new firmwares dont "see" if the basebands is "i" or "a" but i know that basebands are related to driving the signal of the antena for example and is confusing... i see too that gingerbread 2.3.3 came with .71 baseband for x10i and i see on this thread that there are some basebands that are not clearly named.. some of them says "i" or "a" but some of them dont. so it is really confusing this kind of things i can think that the ones that are not clearly named ARE GENERIC... and what i understad is that firmware is related seriously to baseband but in development's threads A LOT OF THEM ARE NOT TELLING US ABOUT THE BASEBANDS FOR WHAT THE FIRMWARES ARE MADE FOR AND FOR WHAT PHONES: X10A OR X10I... i guess that this would be very interesting for people that is trying to customize their Xperia X10x to find in the main thread if that custom firmware can be used in X10a or X10i and exactly what combinations of that firmware and baseband works well.
Another thing that i want to mention is that in the development are there are a LOT OF THREADS that says "...STABLE VERSION..." and we can think "OH! i will find here a permanent and stable ROM" and when you are there in you see that CAMERA DOES NOT WORK.... can we use in the forum some special word for identify the REALLY STABLE AND PERMANENT FIRMWARE. those firmwares that are fully hardware working althought or that firmwares that are discontinuated but really fully working?
Sorry if i posted this on the wrong place, i just want to clear my doubts. lets talk about oall this please!

Debranding

Hi folks!
I'm just a newbie... I searched in the forums but I didn't find any clear answers.
I bought an Xperia x10a (it's an At&t world phone) And as you already know, I'm so frustrated waiting for the 2.1 update for At&t phones that I'm considering to debrand my phone, so at this point I have two questions:
1-If I debrand my world phone, Will I be able to update to the next software version using SEUS, or it is mandatory to debrand and then use the firmwares posted in the forums to flash it and finally get 2.1+Dual touch?
2-In case that I have to flash my phone, does these roms come with Timescape, mediascape and moxier mail(this one is replaced by at&t for an app called "work email" that I don't like at all) but I'd like to preserve timescape and mediascape.
I'll keep waiting for your answers and sorry if this question is already answered in another thread, as I mentioned before, I'm very very newbie not only in android but xda-developers forum.
Best regards

u dont need to debrand anything.
just download flashtool. pick the firmware you want.
in your case you probably want 2.1, build .435 right ? its all over the forums look around. and flash it using flashtool.
from there you can root, jit, and install xrecovery as well.
there is a guide how to use flashtool on youtube if u cannot get it from the thread about how to use flashtool.
and yes it comes with those things.
push thanks if i helped.
edit: here i'll just point you to it since i ended up looking at it anyway.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
again. no debrand needed. just youtube for a tutorial on how to use the flashtool if u cant figure it out.

Unlock sony ericsson XPERIA X10i

Hello,
I would like to know if it is possible to unlock(sim lock) xperia x10i to install unoffical rom(form this forum)?
Tnx.
I believe this is the wrong place for this topic... it should be in Q&A section I think.
Definitely not the good forum. Also, your question is pretty weird : sim lock has NO link ever with installing custom roms. If you were a bit curious, you would see you've posted in a forum with LOTS of custom roms, so it *might* mean you can set up custom rom...
1) How did he post here if he has less than 10 posts?!?!?!
2) He probably meant rooting, or got confused with all this mess about bootloader, or comes from another device. Use SuperOneClick v1.6.3

[Q] First smartphone general help

Hey xda forums, I have the Xperia x10 mini pro (My first smartphone) and am interested in modding it to make it the best it can be, although i'm finding it difficult to find both the order to do things in and what the best current mods are as of right now. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could just send some links my way in the order which I should do them to get my phone with the best current mods, i'd be massively greatful!
Specifications -
Model number - U20i
Frimware Version - 2.1-update1
Baseband version- M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015
Kernel Version-2.5.29
[email protected] #1
Build number 2.1.1.A.0.6
Thanks in advance!
I am using this forum app, so it's hard to post links, but there is a sticky post in Themes and Apps section that have some guides. It don't have all of them, so browse in 6 or 7 pages on that section that are the most news themes. When you get more knowledge, you can flash a custom ROM based on CM7, that allow a lot more in depth themes and mods. When I have more time (actually, when I won't be lazy) and are on one PC, I TRY to explain more.
Don't worry, I bought this on April 2011 and that was my first smartphone too, I was the biggest noob in the area.

(URGENT) Modem Problems with CM7

Hello all,
I'm trying to get a working version of CM7 on my girlfriend's phone and tried the following versions so far:
cm-7.1.0-RC1-Cooper-KANG-Grif_07
update-cm-7.2.0-RC1-GalaxyAce-KANG-AXEL
both have one deal-breaking error on her phone: DATA is NOT working, wifi instead is fine!
I tried to flash her original modem from one of the threads here too (DXKPD, South-East Asia) and entered the correct APN setting for her Operator manually but DATA still not working.
Is there any way to make CM7 work on Indonesia's Indosat Network or do I have to flash back to stock ROM?
Please help fast, she's bugging me already and wants to have her working phone back ;-)
Thanks a lot
Is it any fashion or something as all posting question thread in Dev section
Apply apn manually
Still not happen then use ddkq5 baseband as work always fine for me
Not know any other baseband
How to fill apn
name of apn-
Apn-
&
Authentication type-none
Just fill only these things
In my experience, it's never a good idea to "modify" someone else's phone/pc etc: he/she will always blame you when something is wrong, even if is his/her fault or lack of knowledge.
So, get her phone back to stock is my advice.
Btw Pal, why are you postin here? Moderator should move this to general.

Is it possible to change build number??

Not sure if I have this in the correct section, sorry if i dont and please move to correct if not.
i am running a rooted with locked bootloader verizon r800x Xperia play with a 0.88 build number. My question is can i get on the 0.42/0.56/.62 builds. Ive notice that almost everything is built around those numbers and with having a 0.88 build I'm not sure if i can flash any of the roms or mods and i dont wanna brick my phone. i found a generic 800i ftf file for 0.42 build, I'm just not sure if i can use flashtools and run it on my phone and have it work. can anyone help and point me in the right direction on if i can change that build number so i can play with my phone. if i cant use that file is there one out there that i can use and could anyone post link with what i need. thank you to all answers in advance. I have rooted my share of phones, but with every new phone comes with new experiences and questions.
Firstly, this definitely should go into Q&A. On topic, and pardon the pun, there's a topic about this in the general section, but can't exactly remember which... just browse through the forums and try to find it. It's something that goes like "R800x service attempt".

r800x have only update to android 2.3.3 and you cant have 0.42 and next cause its 2.3.4.
Next: r800x is cdma version of XPlay and r800i, r800at... are GSM so u cant flash ftf for them cause ur phone can brick
There are no (i think) roms and sth like this for r800x sry
USA has 4g, other countries have 3g so sry, blame service providers from your country

As others have said before, This belongs in Q&A. But, on topic
The 4.x versions (i.e. .42,.56,.62) builds are R800i specific, and while myself and a couple of others (i.e. 216Monster) have tried porting them, we run into the problem of "Baseband Unknown" (Meaning that we cannot get cellphone reception)
The only way to get a new build of android on the R800x is to unlock the bootloader, then CM 7/9 are stable, and Sony Beta/any thing else based off ics are less stable.
To root your phone, check my sig for the zergRush link.

Thanks for the info. I was looking forward to playing with all the, roms. And mods that were out for this phone, but I failed to do the researh I should have done, and seen there was more then one model. Verizon has really screwed all the r800x users. Again sorry for posting in the wrong place.
